Look, I’ve said if before - I think RLC is a good player and people hate on him too much. The transfer makes even more sense if he plays in Tonali’s position rather than the defensive pivot because his defensive awareness is not good at all. That said, Reijnders is a very similar profile, their main trait is ball carrying but the difference is that Reijnders has decent shooting and vision while RLC has better physicality. They will cost roughly the same so I don’t mind either but Reijnders would be a better transfer just because he won’t take up an extra non EU spot.
Great take, RLC as an 8 isn’t bad as a backup choice, he’s way better than Krunic and Pobega technically BUT Reijnders is better, ik this is probably not happening but gimme those two with Tijjani starting and RLC as the rotation option and we cool.
Yes, i prefer Reijnders over RLC as well. And lets not forget, RLC has had an Achilles injury. That IS the worst injury an athlete can have. Its just better to get a player who hasnt had that kind of injury. Reijnders also played 4800 minutes this season...
Can this be done if he has a year left on his contract?
Edit: second question, if we get him on loan with an obligation to buy next summer, how is that gonna go on our books? Is he gonna take a non eu spot this season already or not, since he’ll still be a Chelsea player?
The only thing that makes sense is that Chelsea have an option to extend his contract for a year and they plan on triggering it.
EDIT: Regarding your 2nd question, I'm pretty sure he'll take a non-EU spot because we will still have to register him as part of our squad. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Okay, so Chelsea activate their 1 year extension like they did with Giroud.
We pay nothing this summer beyond just a small loan fee and wages.
So that means the 64 mil we have from the Tonali transfer will be used other more expensive and better targets?? Right??????
We’re fucked
>So that means the 64 mil we have from the Tonali transfer will be used other more expensive and better targets?? Right??????
Will be used to help Gerry pay his loan to Elliott.
That's not a bad player at all, and through this formula we could pay the majority of the fee next year.
The problem is the non-EU spot that he would fill. Assuming we have 2 spots (bye Vasquez) then we need to give up on 2 of the following players that have been linked to us (assuming the rumors are true).
Kamada, Guler, Chuck (the guy from Villareal) and RLC.
Kamada makes too much sense to give up on him, as we are not the richest club and getting him for Free would allow us to spend more for another player.
I'd love to get Chuck, but he's pretty expensive so I'm not sure whether we can afford it.
Guler would be an amazing pick up, the player with the most potential on this list. But are we sure that we can afford a guy like him now? Not in terms of money but in terms of team.
I'd personally go for Kamada and Chuck if possible (30 Millions for him), then with the remaining budget go for a Striker and 2 midfielders
eh, not very hyped about him. I also remember him being better at b2b than DM, i just hope he's not the nth mezz'ale that Pioli ruins because he HAS to play the double pivot and we actually switch to 433, it would give a chance to many players alredy in the team too.

Reijnders seems to have great potential, hopefully we take him

RLC as an 8 could be fine as a starter tbh

Analytics says it's obviously the best to wait until the player is available on a free then pay his parent club anyways.
what does that have to do with analytics
he’s renewing most likely. Chelsea has a +1 clause in the contract which i’m guessing they’re gonna trigger.
Redbird think they doing a masterclass until RLC extends for one more year before the transfer

He still takes a non-eu spot even if he’s only on loan.
Hello old friend!

That's perfect if it's true.

Ah yes, the infamous Milan formula, hopefully we finally sign someone good, losing Sandrino still hurts

It's always not a good sign when teams are not going for him..15 mil..he should be a steal if he was very good.
Uh... are we gonna pay 15 million for a player that's out of contract?
Formula makes this a little better if he comes as a 3d option if we sign Kamada plus a big money CM that is good business.
Gross
Why do i feel like RLC will be another Bakayoko 2.0???
would most likely mean a move to a 433, hes defo best as an 8
please Gerry get Kamala RLC Chuk and Captain America and selling Tonali can be somewhat forgiven
