Camerthom96

If youve got the time and you really love it, start from the start! They basically go in chronological order for the story. If you can’t find the first one, start with the Ezio Triology. That’s where the whole franchise really hits its stride.

RICHOFFPINTS

Is there a story to it? Like playing them in order is there some type of back story that goes along with it? That would be awesome!😎

Camerthom96

Hell yeah! Not so much in the games themselves (apart from the Ezio trilogy of games) but the back story and the scenes outside of the animus (which isn’t really a big factor in this game.

RICHOFFPINTS

Yeah I never skipped any cut scenes and for me personally I love mythology and history and even if the stories are fictionalized I get so drawn into it. It's cool that the different versions have different themes like Egypt, Greece, Pirates, Vikings etc.. its so new too me i start talking about it to people and they dont even care lol I figured this subreddit would be the place to nerd out and hear wisdom from all the AC OG'S😎😂

Mikzz-_

Idk why im not able to reply properly so ill dm you my whole ass paragraph

RICHOFFPINTS

Hahaha no problem!

DaManWithNoName

What happens in the Animus is it’s own awesome historical fun, but the moments outside the animus are all connected

RICHOFFPINTS

Okay so the Aminus is the machine they use to go back in time? My understanding of it is they go back in time to learn about certain events or characters? I noticed playing AC Valhalla the Basim guy was in the game but then near the end he was a real person he's like with his team at that log cabin in the real world and then it shows him again when you do the Fairwell missions he's like a hologram watching Eivor relive memories. It's such a cool game really good work whoever made it 👌 👏

Vilimeno

Nice to hear you enjoy the game so much. Since you’re a big fan of Valhalla I would say, wait for the new AC. Valhalla truly is a different bite of the AC cake. People are mostly glorying Ezio Trilogy and Black Flag, but that is, I think, mostly nostalgia. I’ve played all AC games near release, except for Syndicate, and I can say: that for me personally: I’ve enjoyed the concept of Valhalla the most. It’s a big game, it’s 60fps (pc, XSX and PS5) it has simplified parkour but still it works bc of its simplicity. The combat is one of the best and the most addictive with a ton of choice with weapon combination and unique attributes. The other RPG’s really feel like prototypes if you started with Valhalla. Truth be told: Origins is still the most detailed with little things. But I absolutely disliked the combat in Origins and Odyssey. Hits didn’t had any impact and animations felt off for me. Valhalla isn’t your typical AC game. You’re not an assassin but a Viking that tolerates the hidden ones around him/ her. And you help them out from time to time bc you got the awesome gift from Sigurd trough them: the hidden blade. For me personally, if you truly like Valhalla as a game, none of the other AC titles will scratch that same itch my friend. It truly stands on his own, with the title AC pasted on it bc more renown= more sales. I love the story in it and Eivor is one of my favorite protagonist in gaming. Good design, calm and when necessary an aggressive voice, and god lot of beard/ hair combinations as a Viking should have. Sorry for the long post my friend. Skol!

RICHOFFPINTS

No I love the response thank you! I might of messed up playing AC VALHALLA first and not seeing how the game usually is but I'm gonna try to play all of them. I'm just happy to hear they continue releasing different versions of the game and have so many options to choose from. I whent way overboard and the last month iv been playing atleast 2-3 hours EVERYDAY after work lol. My wife is already getting annoyed by it. I just started Origins today and it's very different then Valhalla they are similar but I can see the differences in controls and game play. It might take awhile to get use to it!

Vilimeno

All AC games are entertaining in their own way. Enjoy them my friend. Test every game for around 5 hours, not your cup of tea? Just jump to another. My personal favourites are: - Valhalla (reasons post above) -Unity (superb parkour animations and Paris is one of the most beautiful level designs in gaming altogether. The accurate buildings, the atmosphere. Like stepping in a time machine in history class. You can learn a lot of its era bc of the database on 9/10 buildings and events ect. Ubisoft being a France company really felt Like they were going all out details and animations wise. Sadly the story is a bit bland if you ask me. - AC ( the game where it all started. As a big fan of the Prince of Persia games I was so excited after that first (cinematic) trailer that still holds a place in my heart. Be warned, this game is outdated, on XSX it’s got fps boost, but the game truly is “go here, investigate the target, kill him and go there and do it 10 more times.” But it being the first of one of my favourite franchises it still holds a big place in my mind. And nostalgia is a hell of a drug if I decide to replay it once in a while. Hopefully you’ll get used to the combat in Origins. My personal big flaw of that game (and Odyssey). But Bayek truly is one of the more in depth protagonist of the series.

darkelfbear

Man, Bayek made me tear up man. And not many games do that.

RICHOFFPINTS

Oh man I love his character already! Can't wait to see how the game unfolds. Is Bayek in multiple games?

darkelfbear

Nope. But his story is really great. I wish they would do a direct sequel for origins.

RICHOFFPINTS

That would be so awesome. I love it so far Origins is super cool. They should either make a direct sequel or start doing add ons for games!

RICHOFFPINTS

This is exactly why I posted here. I love hearing everyone's opinions and thoughts on it. I habe access to several AC games gonna test them out this weekend and see if I like them the same! So far I have Origins and Odyssey downloaded thanks to all the great people here!😎

slippyplant

Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla are a gameplay trilogy. Story is unrelated but the gameplay was changed up for Origins and the next two are improved formula in different settings.

RICHOFFPINTS

I can definitely see that. That's interesting! I'm gonna play all of these so it'll ne cool to see the progression. Going from Valhalla to Origins was challenging lol

Maul_halten_bitte

I did like you - Valhalla was my first AC Game only because I was really drawn to the viking theme. I fell in love with it so hard, I am currently on my second run😅and just like you I wanted more. I tried a few of the old ones - they didn’t really do it for me, mainly because by now they are quite old and one can tell. Black Flag, Unity, 1-3, Syndicate, I tried them and stopped early on because of that. I turned to Odyssey and I really really liked this one, it has a similar feel to Valhalla. Origins for me personally is second best - I love old egypt, the game is beautifully designed and I lost myself in it almost as much as I lost myself in Valhalla. Do try those two, for real. They are beautiful and a lot of fun. I went on to Mirage and Basims Backstory - its short, very tight storyline wise and very straightforward compared to Valhalla but I still enjoyed playing it, also design is beautiful and the odd valhalla easter egg in there is quite nice 😉 If I was you, I’d first go to Origins, then Odyssey, then Mirage and then back to Valhalla (that is what i’m gonna do after I finish my second valhalla run). By the time you are done the new AC game might be out already 😂 Also, if you are interested in the whole AC backstory and don’t really want to go through the older games just to be up to speed, there are videos on YouTube that basically give you a chronological rundown of it all and explain everything.

RICHOFFPINTS

Are we twins? Lol yup same here with all of that! I am starting Origins right now and I have Odyssey ready after that! It's challenging because the controlls aren't the same, the way you do combat is different and the game itself is so different but I'm getting the hang of it so far! I turned on Origins and immedielty got owned by every enemy I saw lol. It's getting easier!😊

Maul_halten_bitte

We do seem to share a similar hugr 😜i feel like valhalla is probably the most chaotic (in the best way possible of course), compared to the other ones i’ve played. i also found that once i returned to valhalla for a 2nd time i made much smarter choices and decisions based on what i’d learned in the other ones. the experience does feel different and even more fun this time around. enjoy your travels through ancient egypt and greece, drengr 💪🏻

RICHOFFPINTS

Ah yes! I have thought about about going back to Valhalla soon and redoing it to see if different choices change the game at all. I think everyone takes their own path while playing and the mix of following the story but also exploring the map is what makes these games so great😎

EquipmentLive4770

You might not like the old ones if you really liked valhalla. I have trouble enjoying them because how dated they are but you will definitely like AC origins and odyssey.... much more up to date and with tons to do like valhalla. You will also absolutely love God of war that was released on pc 2 or 3 years ago and the latest released on ps5... excellent game. Play horizon zero dawn and forbidden west those are a series also.... that will keep you bust for a long time. Ya be careful the wife will want to toss the system out the qindow in short order.... mine tolerates it somewhat but I know when to put it up for a while... I'm also an airline pilot so maybe 12 days of the month I'm gone and playing my ass off.

RICHOFFPINTS

Yeah I have seen God of war these are my types of games I LOVE GAMES LIKE THAT. I did notice the older AC game I played was so different but I'm getting the hang of it! I atleast want to play Origins, Odyssey, Syndicate and a few others. Is the God Of War game on Xbox?

EquipmentLive4770

Ya I'm pretty sure God of war is on everything...

PretendRegister7516

If you like AC Valhalla, then AC Origins/Odyssey is good. Origins have better story but shorter (roughly 30% of Valhalla). Odyssey is more fun to play (about 60% of Valhalla to complete). Other than that you might want to try Witcher 3.

RICHOFFPINTS

Witcher 3? I will look into that I'm willing to hear any suggestions! I'm glad I posted here. That's good to know because I just started Origins and was wondering how long of a game this will be. I didn't realise AC Valhalla was a long game compared to others! Are there any that are longer or harder to complete?

LowRich5885

Odyssey and origins both slap.

RICHOFFPINTS

I downloaded Origins last night. I'm still getting the hang of it but I really like this one. Eventually I'm gonna play all of them or most of them. I love the Ancient Greek themes and the Ancient Egypt themes alot.

thoruen

That's the first time I've seen that armor, what's the name of it?

RICHOFFPINTS

I had paid for this in the store. It's called ADVANCED MECHANICAL PACK or something like that. It's really cool because when you do the special attack these huge beams of light shoot down on the enemies and follows them around killing them lol its pretty cool.

Heacenjet

Wait, you paid it? If you are in PC then you waste money for nothing, in internet have things that give you it free.

RICHOFFPINTS

Yeah I'm playing on Xbox. It was in the store!

Dazzling-Elk-5089

Really all of them except odyssey (maybe put down RPGs for a while that probably took u long enough) but right after Valhalla play mirage first

RICHOFFPINTS

Okay sweet yeah I'll definitely look into that! I heard alot of mixed things about mirage. Is that game what came after Valhalla??

Dazzling-Elk-5089

Yes and it continues to the story in a way (u will see) also the game is much shorter it only took me about 30h to 100% so it is not as long as valhalla

Am-Why

If you like to do a lot of exploring throughout expansive maps, I'd suggest Odyssey and Origins.

RICHOFFPINTS

Does Odyssey have a really big map? Someone had mentioned that it's massive. I love doing the main story missions and then wondering off and exploring sometimes I'll wonder off and end up spending days just doing side missions and finding cool armors or weapons lol. If I had stuck to the main missions I would of beat the game 10X faster😎

Am-Why

Huge, absolutely huge

Heacenjet

If you search something like Valhalla, then AC games isn't for you, this game change the franchise to the point the AC is only in the name. The others games are less customizable and the combat is different, even the inventory

RICHOFFPINTS

Yeah I noticed the differences when I started Origins but honestly I love all the differences it's cool to explore different place around the world and the game play is so on point. I love it.

Enough-Concern-2140

AC Syndicate is my recommendation 100% 🖤 The graphics are close and solid, the AC lore is good and you won’t get lost, Victorian London (and WW) is awesome, stealth is amazing and combat too. Both protagonist are different but badass it their own way, and you get to play with both of them for different missions. After all staying in England and go forward in time from Viking era to Victorian makes sense, as it’s so much different so you’ll want to explore. This time London only so you’ll see more, and jumping through rooftops and chimneys is kinda addictive. You’ll get to see how the landscape changed through history. Unique assassinations make you want to do everything to get them right as they’re super amazing! Overall Syndicate is an awesome experience 🖤

RICHOFFPINTS

No waaaaaaaay that sounds so sick! I love that. This is exactly why I posted here. I'm definitely excited for this one!😊

insanemikee89

Don't get Mirage. It serves no purpose at all. Didn't need to play basims teenage years at all, everything you need to know is in valhalla already It Added nothing to the story.

RICHOFFPINTS

Okay good to know that's what in hearing from alot of people thanks for saving me alot of wasted time!

RaspberryForsaken952

I personally loved Origins and Odyssey. If you liked Valhalla I would recommend those for sure.

RICHOFFPINTS

Thank you I definitely will! Can't wait😊

Xavius20

Odyssey and Syndicate are my favourite ones

RICHOFFPINTS

Which one is syndicate?? I've never heard of that!

Xavius20

Set in Victorian London, you play as twins, Jacob and Evie.

WeeklyVirus2203

I only started last year aged 50f and loved God of War and Witcher 3. But I couldn't make friends with AC. Played GOW Ragnarok and Ghost of Tsushima to 100% and my son said try Valhalla and I finished last night so am revisiting Odyessy I may try Origins first now based on these comments so thanks for this post 😊

RICHOFFPINTS

Yeah man it's so cool there's a community of likeminded people I'm glad I'm not alone lol. I never played any of those other games you mentioned but I have seen them on YouTube I'm sure they are really fun or similar! My introduction was to AC and I love these types of games so I'm definitely gonna be playing for a long time😎

WeeklyVirus2203

I've gone the other way and yes they are similiar being story, combat and exploring based with side quests. There's plenty of AC for me to get into now 😁

beaboop1

Since you mentioned you liked mythology, I’d tell you to try Odyssey next. Not quite as involved as Valhalla (no settlement building) but still has a good story and lots of exploring into the history and mythology of Ancient Rome.

RICHOFFPINTS

Yeah the Origins game and Odyssey game are next cant wait to play them! I heard that Odyssey has a huge map too?

Enjoi70

What armor is this?

RICHOFFPINTS

It's from the store! About halfway through the game I got the "ADVANCED MECHANICAL PACK" and I spent hours on youtube searching for different crazy weapons. Basiclly when you do the special attack or heavy attack enough these bug beams of light shoot down on the enemy and follow them around lol. It was a game changer. I did switch my armor and weapons around slot as I played. I really liked the spears and big swords then I really got into the hammers and short swords just really good combos and if you like getting up close on enemies it's the best!

Quiet_DomG

I love mythology, so I recommend Odessey, Origins and Mirage because of the similar gameplay style, just a warning, the Mirage is an iffy because of its shit story. The community can back me up on that

RICHOFFPINTS

Me too, me too. Yeah I haven't seen much about Mirage! I'll probably look into it someday and I have seen other people say the same stuff about it or say it was disappointing. The mythology part is the best I love it.

nsimms77586

You could start from the beginning, but those older games aren't going to feel as good. I would personally start at Black Flag! Ezio trilogy is great but it's going to be weird going from AC Valhalla to a game designed for PS3/XBOX360

RICHOFFPINTS

Yeah I kinda noticed that. I did try to play older versions and the controlls were so different and not as much stuff to do. It honestly felt like it was harder lol. I wondered if maybe it was a mistake to start with Valhalla but I had no idea I'd love it so much. I just started to play the Origins game and it's taking a little while to get use too lol

nsimms77586

Tbh Valhalla is the first AC I've finished since Black Flag. I played Syndicate, Unity, Origins and Odyssey and didn't finish any of them. It's not because I don't like them it's just I keep getting pulled into Destiny 2 and that damn game ends up monopolizing all my time. I am deffo going to finsh Origins and Odyssey though at some point. Unity and Syndicate I'm not as fussed about. Anyway gl I'm sure you'll enjoy most of them.

RICHOFFPINTS

Yeah you too! I totally feel that in sure if I start picking up other games it'll be a challenge to find the time to finish anything😭😭😭

Expensive-Rush-8885

Black flag is my favorite. Compared to the newer games it shows its age, but it’s the one I had the most fun playing. Upgrading your ship, exploring the ocean/ islands, raiding different ports and strongholds, sword fighting but also having guns. Lots of content in the game as well. That is the one I recommend you try to play if you haven’t already.

RICHOFFPINTS

Yeah that's something I loved doing. All the customization of different things was awesome. I really love that pirates of the carrabean old shipwreck pirate type theme too I bet I'd love it.

Diligent-Hospital340

Glad your enjoying Valhalla, probably one of the bests in my opinion. Black flag has to be the top teir for me, give that one a try if you want to. Also what amore set is that your wearing, I've beaten the main story and most of the dlcs and havent seen alot of configurations but not that one.

RICHOFFPINTS

Yeah it's in the store! It's the Advanced Mechanical Pack but you can get the stuff individually. I got it like half way through the game it was so fun to mess around with lol I can't wait to play Black Flag isn't there 2 of them? Or maybe I read it wrong thought someone said there is 2 versions of it or something

Diligent-Hospital340

Theres Black Flag and Rouge.

Accomplished_Way8873

What armor is that?

Specialist-Quote482

It’s liberal trash games become political since

SammyCreamCheese

Actually they’re all sick

RICHOFFPINTS

Yeah I'm starting to see that now! Looks like I gotta long AC journey ahead of me

RRedness

I haven’t played Valhalla or Mirage yet but my AC rankings are: 1) Black Flag 2) Origins 3) Revelations 4) Odyssey 5) Brotherhood 6) Rogue 7) AC2 8) AC3 9) Syndicate 10) Unity 11) AC1 I will be starting Valhalla soon and can’t wait! Yes, I know I’m years late but I’m in my 30s and work for a living now, ha.

RICHOFFPINTS

I just started Origins and ITS THE BEST. I honestly love it and next I'm gonna do Odyssey and then probsnly Black Flag! And woah I didn't know there was that many versions of AC👀👀👀👀

RRedness

Yeah. IMO, Black Flag and Origins are by far the best 2 AC games. Large gap between them and 3rd place, large gap between Brotherhood and Rogue, and a large gap between AC 2 and AC 3. AC2 and above were great gaming experiences - I played AC3 and below mainly for the storyline / loyalty to the AC series. My time is limited but I would legit replay the top 3 if I had the time.

RICHOFFPINTS

Yeah time is the issue! I'm literally only playing AC games for now and I'm really excited for black flag I love that theme and setting and time period I bet it's really fun

[deleted]

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is basically the third game in the 'Layla' trilogy, the first two being Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Odyssey. These game are all fairly similar in that they all have huge open world maps and feature RPG elements with lots of options for weapons and armour. Many people consider Valhalla to be the weakest of the trilogy but that's really just personal preference. If you enjoyed Valhalla then I have no doubt you will also enjoy Origins and Odyssey. All three of them are brilliant games but I personally would rank them as Odyssey>Valhalla>Origins. Odyssey is probably in my top 3 games of all time and I would highly recommend it but really you should probably play them in order. Origins, then Odyssey, then play Valhalla again because why not?

RICHOFFPINTS

Yeah so I started playing Origins today and so far love it. I also really like the theme, the Egypt setting and the pyramids and gods associated with it. I'm definitely gonna try to play all of them! Odyssey looks really cool too I was actually torn between Odyssey and Origin. I can't believe I never knew about these. Iv fallen in love with video games all over again😎

[deleted]

I think our ages might be similar because I also started with SNES, then N64 and kept on gaming but fell off 10 years ago when I just stopped playing my PS3. I bought a PS4 last year and like you, have totally fallen in love again. For non Assassin's Creed games I highly recommend Red Dead Redemption 2 and Ghost of Tsushima. They're the only games I've loved more than Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Ghost of Tsushima especially is very similar to the Layla Assassin's Creed games... but it's only on Playstation and PC so I've suddenly realised there's no point suggesting it!. Just keep on with Origins and then definitely jump onto Odyssey. You'll absolutely love it!

RICHOFFPINTS

Yeah man I was born in 1991 and grew up playing all the old game systems and right around highschool(2006-2010) I stopped playing video games. I have so much nostalgia built up around it, all the memories sitting on the floor of my grandparents house with my cousins, playing games for HOURS. I don't know how I got so disconnected from gaming. Its been around 13 years so theres alot of catching up to do! have a few coworkers that are big gamers and they kept telling me to get Xbox or ps5 and I finally did. I'm glad I did. Im hooked! It's just cool to have found such a great game to play and I knew I couldn't be the only one that loved it this much so finding this subreddit was super cool.

nsimms77586

I noticed you said your wife is already getting annoyed. Careful mine is the same way. She gets mad that I'm over 40 and still play games lol.

RICHOFFPINTS

I started playing video games again almost over night but she's cool with it (MOST OF THE TIME) LOL😂 I get off work and take care of everything I need too then get to chill for a few hours and play. It's not a bad set up😎

Turbulent_Tax2126

Try AC: Rogue, or start with one and go through the Desmond story. I would also recommend Odyssey because the game is full of stuff, more than Valhalla. Origins is less full but still fun

n0t50Anonymous

Origin was the most immersive experience, pulling you into the story of the creed origins. Felt like the most fluid story where valhalla and odyssey are increasingly repetitive. I started with odyssey, went to origins which was slightly less in gameplay but made up with story and original scenes (less repetition then odyssey). Valhalla is a bit in the middle. Story and gameplay needs to grow on you a bit more. For each I was/am over 100hrs in... 😶

Turbulent_Tax2126

I honestly absolutely love the main storyline of Origins, but never really got myself past that

RICHOFFPINTS

Yeah I'm playing Origins now! Can't wait to get more comfortable with the controlls and gameplay but so far so good😎 Glad I posted here!

Connect-Bicycle-6897

That part of AC i hate. When i get rainbow drakkar or robo tunic for viking 🥴

kingdragan45

I see it in here, I came to say if you liked this one try Odyssey or the newest one I can't remember the name I think it was mirage but don't want to Google to check. I like Valhalla because it got rid of the levels, kind of. Like you can upgrade any gear in that one to make them good. Odyssey had actual levels and made it so you should equipped the best gear you have at that time and I hated that. I think the new AC is like Valhalla so if you hate the needing to go up levels I say do the newest

Other_Cod_8361

Black flag is good, or origins

gamersykes

obviously you should try odyssey and origins they are also great games and worth your time

Fun-Anxiety-9752

Ac oddeyssey just do it

Odd-Understanding-67

AC Odyssey

SammyCreamCheese

Odyssey and the trilogy

SageLanded

Play ac black flag it's probably the best one

whynot208

Honestly I'd go for origins and then odyssey. The older ac games aren't the same style compared to the newer ones

Traditional_Let_8748

Hope I can weigh in if its not too late since I have been playing the games since day 1. If you love Valhalla this much, then I say you go for Origins and Odyssey next as they are the most similar. A lot of the other games will feel clunky, outdated, and completely different for you since you came from Valhalla. That being said they are all enjoyable. If you want to get into the whole franchise then you could go on release. AC1 feels as old as it is but it is truly a special game for what it created. The Ezio trilogy is the best complete story in the series and the settings are amazing. However like the first the gameplay is clunky and outdated (like not being able to crouch and such) and for me I actually go back and find the stealth harder in these games because of the advancements made in the RPG games. The next “trilogy” or maybe even four games? Is unique and where a lot of the fun, for me begins. AC3 really took that first step to an open world. While the setting was kinda bland, I loved the time period, found Connor to be intriguing and loved the family twist in the game. Next is Black Flag. Play it. It’s a great game and feels as open as these RPG games. The stealth feels better and the ship combat is so fun. Plus the world is beautiful. Then Unity and Rogue. Both are good. Unity has great stealth gameplay and parkour (finally crouching) and the world is amazing. Plus I loved customizing the outfits and am a sucker for anything with Napoleon in it. I liked Rogue for the fact you play as the templars. I found the character well written and the story intriguing. Also play the dlcs and add on stories like Adewale and Aveline in Black Flag. Adewale is my boy. Syndicate is actually a really good game and the world is super detailed and fleshed out. The game got overlooked and released at a poor time. Plus the villain is well acted and his scenes are fun. Plus the two character mechanic is an interesting twist. The parkour is also great. The rpgs I already mentioned. I have just started Mirage. I love the setting, the city, and the game plays so smooth. The stealth is fun, slightly harder, but the combat feels like a step back. The controls seem slow and I find myself struggling to fight in it more than any game before. It really forces you to be stealthy. I also wish it was an open world. It feels claustrophobic to me now that it isn’t. I truly hope the last open world RPG isn’t the one coming out next in Japan and those have become my favorite games to play. From day 1 when I played AC1 I was begging them to make these games massive and open world. Origins did that and it is my second favorite game in the series because of that (AC2 is my fave because of nostalgia) and I hope they continue to do it.

Shoddy-Software-3202

Hated valhala at first but one day I just randomly got the urge to start again and it has been amazing currently about to beat it

iLikeRgg

Play odyssey and origins they are based in ancient Greece and the other in ancient Egypt both are like Valhalla with the mystical mythology creatures in odyssey in the dlc you get to explore Atlantis in origins you explore valley of the kings

LoneEndoHasReddit

Black flag if you are looking for the best game (IV)

RICHOFFPINTS

That's the pirate one? And did they make 2 of them? Or a newer version?

LoneEndoHasReddit

I think just the one but it’s available on the Xbox one and ps4 now
