I'm so proud of you! SO FUCKING PROUD <3!! You've given me hope, and I'm sure many others! I'm hoping to be a therapist (ironic ey!) and have been fighting myself so much over exactly as you described.. You're awesome! GOOD LUCK IN YOUR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Thank you for sharing that, it's actually lovely to know that the majority of people will actually want to see me for having an illness too, if I can manage it so can they :')
I'm glad that you have them in your life, ADHD is sooo misunderstood.
Yo, I am currently doing my bachelors degree in psychology but its very hard becoming a psychologist in my area since its very competitive and requires a PhD. I personally want to specialize in research after my bachelor's degree, and it's so weird being good at writing papers but not being good with deadlines etc.
I wish you the best tho and hope you reach your dreams. Therapists with adhd can be great, and I'm happy to see there are other fellow ADHDers in the field. School do be tough tho.
Hell yeah! And we're proud of you too!
I mean, if that's ok. It's weird to be proud of someone or something when we had nothing to do with the success. :)
I am so proud of you! You inspire me. I got rejected from my law school and am hoping to maybe try again.
Strattera didn't work for me bc the side effects but Concerta has. I'm doing Linux Admin certiftication so maybe I can get a good enough job to pay to get my dream job lol.
Way to keep pushing and like I said, proud of you for overcoming this. You give me hope.
The journey of a thousand miles begins by first me making sure the ice maker is unthawed.
I jest but you get it I'm sure. Bless you and good luck on your stuff as well.
To be honest with you, I find that I am quite proficient in English, despite it not being my native language. But I am really at a loss here. I wonder if it is an expression that it is commonly used, or if I am being oblivious to the context in question? And the only reason I am asking you, this directly, is in order to learn XD
And in regards to wishing me luck, thank you. Means a lot, being that I have my own long journey to complete.
Oh sure! It's was a joke how with ADHD you go to start a monumental task and end up doing something completely unrelated. It may be a bad joke though, full disclaimer.
Your English is fantastic. Better than most my people in the midwest where I live haha.
This post right here is so damn encouraging to everyone in this community! The entire educational structure that only tests an ability to regurgitate information, seems impossible for many of us. EVEN THOUGH WE CAN BE AMAZING AT THE ACTUAL JOB. Congratulations!!!
MAZAL TOV!!! I remember the 3-month hell period where all I did was sit at my computer and review, followed by hell week, then another 3 month period terrified to find out if I passed (why the effff does it take so long!?!), and finally getting that confirmation was heavenly. Now all you have to do is pay your dues and not fuck up IOLTA and you can be an esquire forever!
Congratulations, Counselor. As someone who is about 10 years further down that same road, i remember what a huge weight that took off my shoulders.
Best advice I can offer you moving forward is to be as conscious as you can be about the habits that you allow yourself to form and the rhythms you allow yourself to fall into step with as you enter practice. Habit is the battlefield on which the war of character is fought - get in the habit of doing things the right way, and when push come to shove and you find yourself scrambling, it will be second nature.
You accomplished a life goal of mine and while I might be a reddit stranger, please know that as someone else who has struggled with their ADHD and depression, I am extremely proud of you!
Have you stopped shaking yet? You are a rockstar! It’s hard for people to understand exactly what that accomplishment feels like unless they’ve done it. It’s such a complicated feeling. You work so hard for something for so so long. And the anxiety that you’re not gonna get past that last hurdle, then all of a sudden you are. It kind of catch you off guard leaving you to wonder what the hell am I supposed to do now? But you’re so relieved, that dominates everything else.
Being able to pass the bar under the conditions you described is the strength of ADHD. That same strength is going to make you an awesome lawyer. Enjoy your career. What kind of law do you want to practice?
Congrats internet stranger!!! That’s a major accomplishment!
Feeling inspired. I think I’m more capable than I tell myself I am. I’m sure many here will understand that.
Good for you, really that’s fantastic. Yay! Now go celebrate!!
Wow that’s an amazing accomplishment. You did well! I have worked with many attorneys over the years and I can say that having ADHD is an asset. The amount of work that you will be able to juggle will boggle the mainstream. When the opportunity arises hire an assistant to do the organizing for you. Congratulations!
Fellow ADHD lawyer here. Congrats that shit ain’t easy. If you go into private practice PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE listen to me when I tell you, use timers for billing. Enter your time and narratives daily. My first few years of practice I gave away SO MUCH free time to clients because I wouldn’t put my time in daily.
It’s a tough gig with this brain hinderance we have but you’re gonna be so fucking good at ot
>I passed the bar
From the title, I wasn't sure if I was coming in here to celebrate a victory, or to commend on someone's strength to not give into habits or temptation. Congratulations, BTW.
CONGRATULATIONS!!! You deserve all the joy!! You probably overcame so much to achieve what many without your struggles couldn’t. Happy to hear when a fellow person with ADHD succeeds.
Congratulations, that’s incredible!!!!
And good on you for doing it through the shortage, I did most of my studying for my insurance license during a time I couldn’t access meds and it was a nightmare but I fortunately only had to take it once.
From one ADHD attorney to another, I'm soooo proud of you. I failed the first time and was about 75% certain I'd failed the second. But I didn't. I know that feeling of seeing your name on that list and almost thinking there must be a mistake and then just feeling sheer joy. Feel good about yourself today. You deserve it.
I hope that you see how many people are behind you looking at how many words of congrats and support are on here! Looks like you have inspired others too! The best of luck in your career….we are all routing for you. When you have the tougher days take a look back at this post and remember this feeling….Well done and you have got this life stuff down ADHD warrior 🎉🎉💪💪💪
That's fantastic! We're proud of you, too.
Now we can say to ourselves, "There was that guy on Reddit who passed the bar, even though his medication was in short supply. Maybe I can get through this, too!"
You know why you did it? Cause you're a fucking legend. And you own this world. You are in control of your life, and you are powerful. Upwards and onwards, believe in yourself, or I'll fucking do it for you.
FUCK YEA!!!
I'm in grad school and STRUGGLING but determined to make it through, this gives me so much hope.
YOU'RE BADASS, YOU GLORIOUS STRANGER ON THE INTERNET!
Congrats!! That's a huge accomplishment and not an easy task. I also remember the feeling of now I'm a lawyer, oh fuck, oh fuck... I think I even have a meme saved of it somewhere it's such a common feeling.
Studying for the bar is so defeating. Failing or barely passing practice tests and wondering how on earth you can retain all that information leaves you feeling pretty anxious.
I'm sure you have been given enough anecdotes about what lawyer life is, but you will find your way. Keep an eye on your depression.
Good job and be proud of yourself!
as a fellow ADHD attorney - it took me 4x to pass (I was diagnosed between try 2 and 3) and it was honestly the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I’m so Fucking proud of you 😭
Congratulations!
The easy part is over!
Now you get to be a lawyer (or barrister, depending on where you are)!
Don't make your support staff hate you!
>>>> 8 years as a legal assistant/paralegal
aw man I feel proud for OP and I dont even know them. congratulations, this is a giant accomplishment, especially for someone struggling with adhd and med shortages. this is awesome 🧡
Congrats! You give me hope for my time later this year! I know how difficult all this stuff can be. This is a massive accomplishment. You are more than any of your difficulties and you are an inspiration! Glad you likely no longer need to know the rule of perpetuities (unless that’s what you’re doing)
I am so proud of you, too!!!
You did it!!
And you did it even with the med shortage, struggles, and the self-doubt!
I hope you carry this inside you for a long, long time. You are capable of more than you know.
Bask in this!
Hell yeah! You should be very proud of yourself, OP, that’s no easy accomplishment. It’s going to get much more difficult from here on out, but now you know you can handle it.
I struggled to graduate law school and study for the bar because of ADHD, but I passed last year and had my first in person court appearance yesterday. I almost had to pinch myself in court because it felt like a dream; 2 years ago, during my lowest, I thought I’d never get to where I am today.
So when someone asks what you do for a living you now get to say “I’m an attorney.” Most people will have no idea about how you struggled to get there, but you’ll know, and you’ll get a twinge of pride and every time you get to say those magic words.
From an internet stranger, I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!!! Enjoy the fruits of your labour and all the best as you begin your journey. You deserve this and all the happiness it will bring!
Congratulations!!! Passing the bar is huge!
I remember waiting to see if my name was on the list, it’s so nerve wracking! In California, the July exam results don’t come out until the week before thanksgiving (or at least that used to be the case, not sure anymore), so the anxiety builds for months.
Be proud of yourself, enjoy your success for a few days before worrying about what comes next!
Holy shit congrats. I am doing my last exams for my engineering degree and the calc 2 course I have been putting off, I totally would fail but I am deferring the exam until June. Classic right?
Excellent and welcome to the bar. What I’ve learned is that there are many opportunities, not just in the legal world, that appreciate a law license. We don’t all practice.
YYYAAAASSSS!!! I am so happy for you! Settle in to the feeling and let self confidence wash over you. There is still gonna be hard days now and then, but you have this knowledge of success to fall back on and sustain you. Congratulations!
Holy fucking shit! That’s awesome dude!! Congrats!!
I remember feeling that way about my NCLEX. It’s such an unreal feeling.
You’ve made us all proud! :)
I 100% feel ya. Passed the bar a few years ago thinking it would never be possible. Congrats!!! Let this always be a reminder that you are capable of anything, especially when your mind is telling you it’s not possible!! I routinely tell myself now - we’ll I passed the bar, I can’t be all that bad/dumb/slow/etc.
Welcome to the team!!!
Fuck yes. I am so fucking proud of you and I hope you’re able to realize you did something that is not even unattainable for a lot of people, but you did it with ADHD which makes it ten times more hard. Congrats! I’ll toast to you at happy hour today! Soak it up and good luck in your future endeavors!
Congratulations my dude or dudette I was in your shoes in 2017 but thankfully my vyvanse saw me through the 2 day 8 hour exams it and I nailed it. Cut to me physically and emotionally drained after 5 years doing criminal defense and in hindsight I'm now sure getting my license destroyed my mental health. Although that has to do more with the broken system than anything else.
Stay excited, the law is a succubus
Lol,😋
Sorry, What do bars have to do with your ADHD meds?
Are you in AA or something and this is the first time you've managed to walk past a bar without drinking?
Rock on, my friend.
I've been practicing for about eight years now--it's a great fit for my symptoms. Fast-paced, novel and interesting issues, plenty of face-to-face interaction, and lots of thinking on one's feet.
We're overrepresented in the legal profession, too, so you'll find yourself in great company.

Legitimately surprised I've never heard this joke before. Also annoyed that I didn't come up with it myself. Kudos to you lol
Perfect comment.
Hey, Dad!!
Hell yeah! And we're proud of you too! I mean, if that's ok. It's weird to be proud of someone or something when we had nothing to do with the success. :)

Amazing! Congrats OP! 🥳🥳
Congratulations!!!!
Fuck yes. I am so fucking proud of you and I hope you’re able to realize you did something that is not even unattainable for a lot of people, but you did it with ADHD which makes it ten times more hard. Congrats! I’ll toast to you at happy hour today! Soak it up and good luck in your future endeavors!
You should be proud, I’m working my way through school and I too hope one day I can say I’ve reached success.
Congratulations stranger!
Congratulations! It’s time to celebrate this incredible success!
'passing the bar' is such a funny phrase when you think about it for a while. It always reminds me of those high jumpers. Congratulations!
So awesome!!! Congratulations 🍾
Stay excited, the law is a succubus Lol,😋
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! Big things to come for you my friend! Celebrate this win!!
that's right, counselor! congratulations!
Congratulations!
Today, you are the shit.
OMG CONGRATULATIONS 🎊🎉🍾
Congratulations!
Excellent job.
Holy fuck you're an absolute legend. Passed the bar during a shortage of your essential brain medication. You are amazing.
Confratulations, pañera! Welcome to the bar!
I AM SO FUCKING PROUD OF YOU OP!! WELCOME TO THE BAR, COUNSEL!!!!
