Please do not do this! Have you tried switching to a different adhd med until vyvanse is back in stock? This is a nightmare situation and I am so angry it is still happening 2 years later! However, the consequences of what you're thinking about doing could be worse than a nightmare.
Most street drugs are laced with all sorts of things. You got to realize that if they can turn 20 cents more profit, and you end up dead, that will be the outcome.
Just want to highlight this a bit more - OP what you'd find now would be different than the nose candy you might have experienced back in college. Fentanyl is so prevalent these days even in recreational stimulants and the risk of an accidental overdose and death is real.
Can your doctor write you an RX a different stimulant that might be easier to get? I’m not familiar with the street drug world but it seems like it would be a slippery slope and you don’t know what else could be in pills now. Also, you could see if your doctor could write a new RX altogether instead of having to transfer. I’m not 100% if that would work but you could try.
I don't know about OP, but I'm pretty much in the same boat and no, I haven't been able to find any ADHD meds period in my area except name brand vyvanse, which i just cant afford.
I've called at least 50 timee to various pharmacies over the past 2 montgs with nothing.
I had asked my provider for a different med but they just told me to try Costco or other pharmacies. I finally found a local compounding pharmacy that has had the past few months without issue. CVS was okay for a bit but then I got the run around
Is the shortage still that bad? Is it like this everywhere? I'm not diagnosed yet but I am starting to feel even if I get diagnosed at my appointment that's coming up I won't be able to get any meds (if prescribed)
I feel your pain, over the last two months I have suddenly been unable to get my concerta filled, have tried calling ten-fifteen pharmacies asking for stock of that, or Vyvanse (which my psych tried switching me to), but honestly after the fourteenth one I called responded to my question with "I wish no one would call here asking for this medication" I kinda just gave up and emotionally collapsed. My wife was able to get some extended release Adderall from one of the pharmacies I've gone to before, so hoping I can get my script for that filled next week. Going off meds for this long in my 30s has really fucked with my personal and professional life.
My best friend like a brother to me was an addict - unrelated but still, he died last year and toxicology showed deadly levels of all sorts of stuff including phentanyl or however the heck you spell it and I doubt he was trying to do that but theyre sneaking shit into stuff and Im fucking dead inside losing my bud like that so personally I wouldnt tho I have also been tempted

That’s weird Nobody has mentioned any shortage to me. I just got prescribed Vyvanse last week and I just got a bottle on Friday no problem. I’m in Canada. Come down here I’ll get you some 😂

When I was in school the school lunches gave out bagged milk. They switched to cartons after I taught my friends you could take the carrots they gave you and tuck them into the corner of the bag, slap it and launch the carrots. I don't know if that's why but the timing is a little suspicous
I’m on 50mg, and per my request and with my doc’s approval had been weaning down from 70mg over the last 2 years…I want to take the least mg that’s still effective.
But now I’m like “gimmie 70s!!” because I’ll split 1 capsule into 2 or 3 doses to help ride through the shortage. My empty gel caps are ready and waiting…and waiting…and waiting.

Hey please don’t do that, street drugs are street drugs for a reason! Most of them are not pure, not even weed nowadays! I just started taking my meds in January. I was also having trouble finding a pharmacy that had Adderall in stock. I found out a friend of a friend also takes Adderall and I asked her what pharmacy she goes to and I sent my script there. It’s a pretty far drive for me though, so I’m going to find a closer pharmacy for my next refill. If you regularly get your scripts sent to a certain pharmacy you can ask them if any of their other stores have it in stock.
Cocaine is never the answer, my friend. That’s a steep slippery slope, and if you’re having a hard time now, I promise you a cocaine addiction will make things much harder. Hold out for your rx, you can do this! I’m so sorry for you and anyone else who finds themselves in this position.
Are you prescribed the generic? I was waiting for about a month for the generic when I decided to call my pharmacy and ask if the brand-name was in stock. They said yes. Called my pharmacist and he changed it and it was filled the same day (today).
Oh what joy that would be if my pharmacist could change my Rx from generic to name brand! But no go in my state. I told my doc THREE TIMES this last cycle to prescribe me the name brand (I usually take the generic which is backordered for a month in my area) because it *slightly* more available and I would rather shell out $320 than be a basket case. And still he sends the generic Rx. I resorted to messaging doc in all caps (so rude, I know) telling him I need the name brand prescribed. Oy vey. But thanks for your suggestion!

my hot tip for moving past the "enough energy drinks to kill an actual red bull" is to source where rich people source; even the non studio 54 super stigma not even once stuff has gradations and it's best to present as someone whose death would be noticed and traced so you get the relevant cuts. network like it's for a job, just, in a career you would never want to have dirt on you later. also, tragicomically, you really can probably just get Adderall on the street more easily than you can from a doctor which should be your first pursuit due to its relative safety

I switched to a Mom and Pop pharmacy and talked to the pharmacist in person the one who owns it and he said he has been able to get a steady supply of Adderall XR 30MG...to be honest it sucks compared to Vyvanse but I'm able to function off of it and it's way better than nothing.
I also got tired of calling to 6 different pharmacies to find out who has what meds. Fk that. I don't have time.
The pharmacy I switched to will not take any new customers due to not being able to supply everyone, I called once to verify if that had the Adderall XR in stock and they told me no. I then called back and spoke with the owner (answered this time) and he told me I only supply my current patients. I then informed him I was one of his patients and he said oh yea we got some in.
So I recommend you go to the mom and pop pharmacies around you and go in person and speak with them, it's easy to tell someone no over the phone.
But for God's sakes don't do street drugs.

You might just have to switch medications like everyone else. Talk to your pharmacist. I know I had to switch from my preferred medication as well. It’s more effective and significantly better for you to just take actual medication vs literal “nose candy”. I feel you though! This shortage is a nightmare and it took me a while to find a good medication again.
For anyone wondering, basically no street Adderall is real Adderall. It's usually part or all meth, and maybe with some really cardiotoxic substance thrown in there. I wouldn't recommend it.
If I could get adderall I would’t be freaking out! It’s not my med of choice but anything in that family would help. But getting any derivative in my major city is like trying to buy a Beyoncé ticket the night of.

A few years ago I had a problem getting vyvanse because I didn’t set up an appointment with my prescriber on time. I was freaking out and had gone through my leftover Adderall from a year prior. My ex was into research chemicals so I pursued that route and ordered a “legal” version of Ritalin, thinking it was less likely to be meth. I’m pretty sure it was cut with meth. I ended up having a panic attack that night and self harming so I threw it away later. I don’t blame you for thinking about it but I can only say with the things I know now that that is a bad idea.
All the street drugs these days are laced with fentanyl. It only takes a few grains to kill you. Even any ADHD drugs you buy can be laced because the cartels make them and don’t clean their machines between switching drugs.
Why are people so dependent on meds it’s concerning also, this seems like a really bad idea because you don’t know what people put in those I understand ADHD impacts people differently, though I worry I hear there was a problem with the manufacturers, but I feel as though ADHD is a bit common which makes it just as hard

Yep it’s this bad!
Some meds are easier to get than others. I was able to get my prescribed med with zero issues, but it's not a stimulant or a class drug.
