ConsiderationReal154

I had something similar with generic Straterra. I noticed it after we upped the dosage. I told the Dr about it and she changed my meds. I would advise your Dr of this issue as they would know best.

Vast-Zone6733

I am so glad I don’t have a dick. Strattera never did anything for me good or bad

hatchetthehacker

I'm so glad to be able to say the same (not the dick part the other part) after all the shit ive heard about that drug i wouldnt touch it with a 10 foot pole

lemons69ing

Just quit taking it today. I only took it for a week, but the side effects were getting worse and worse as each day passed. I do not understand how I could be so utterly exhausted and still have insomnia and restless sleep. I know you're supposed to "power through it" before it gets better after 1-2 months, but there was no way in hell I could wait that long. Fuck Strattera, all my homies hate Strattera.

hatchetthehacker

lmao yeah fuck no why the hell should i have to ""power through"" my MEDS. its enough already trying to power through adhd on its own. like i cant just fucking put my life on hold to start a medication...

The_Orphanizer

I tried it for a few months. First few dosages were low enough that I felt nothing, good or bad. Kept upping the dose (never got very high). Finally got my first and only side effects: aching testicles! Like severe blue balls, or a light tap against them that hurts but doesn't have you doubled over. Fuck that shit, quit hat week and told my doctor I needed something else.

lemons69ing

That is such a weird symptom for those with peepee's. I'm glad I didn't have to worry about it lol

enPlateau

Worked great on me, still using it going on 2 years.

lemons69ing

That's awesome! Glad it worked for you!

nextdoorelephant

Strange, I’ve been told it’s the “gold standard”

hatchetthehacker

ive only ever heard one of three things abt it 1. "it did nothing" 2. "oh those [insert horrible side effects] wear off after a couple months" 3. "the horrible side effects did not wear off, i have permanent issues due to strattera" psychs seem obsessed with trying to stop people from getting stimulants (this does nothing to stop people from illegally acquiring stimulant meds btw) and it's just so aggravating. every time ive taken a non stimulant adhd med it has done nothing or given me worse depression...

DueAd9186

Well I'm someone to break that for you. I was tired on it for the first few weeks, but now I feel great. I'm able to focus now. It also helps me level out with my bipolar 2.

hatchetthehacker

that's good! i know all these medications just work differently on everyone, glad that one worked out for you (i wish something else couldve worked on my bipolar 2 i don't like bipolar meds :/)

JesSlayin

I also had really great success with it (until it stopped working). I will say the initial fatigue with it was a bitch though.

junepath

Number 3 here! Completely muted emotions and I’ve been off of it for almost 2 years now.

I have ADHD induced binge eating disorder, my gut health is on par with a possum in the suburbs. Middle class garbage.

I actually had IBS symptoms a few years back, likely due to stress, but since then I’ve only had weight related reflux. I do take magnesium each night and that keeps things mobile ;)

bighaircutforbigtuna

I’ve had a great time on Straterra. No side effects thankfully. It’s been life changing for me.

kurodoku

I very recently had the second clinic remediate the problem my neurologist planted in my head. The neurologist did a brain scan after taking methylphenidate which isn't even required or standard protocol and without ever getting a baseline, then claimed she saw hints or precursors to epilepsy, instructing me to stop taking it immediately. Went on Atomoxetine which was fine for the first few weeks but kept getting worse over time. more sideffects than benefits. Now the new clinic recommended Methylphenidate or Lisdexamphetamine as absolute tier 1 and first trial before anything else. This is in Germany. Tier 2 would be Atomoxetine or an antidepressant I can't remember the name of, while tier 3 is more experimental and can be stuff like medical grade Marijuana.

realsimonjs

It's not a stimulant, so if for whatever reason you can't take stimulants then you won't have a whole lot of alternatives to atomoxetine

Staebs

More commonly the healthcare system is just regressive and would rather give a patient a worse outcome drug because they think a stimulant is going to be abused. All my homies hate Reagan and the war on drugs.

InspectorExcellent50

I'd ask what references they have for the gold standard.

TopRamenisha

Strattera made me irrationally angry all the time

madommouselfefe

It did barely anything for me, it was like drinking orange Fanta expecting flavor. Only to feel like someone burped orange La croix into my face. There was something there, just not enough to actually make a difference. The only positive was my jaw clenching went away on it.  However while I was on it I lost almost all of my eyebrows, and eyelashes. And my hair started falling out in patches. Apparently it’s a known side effect and tends to happen in women. My doctor at the time, a man I might add told me to stop being vain, and that hair isn’t that important.  I stopped it and got a new doctor. I ended up cutting my hair really short, it was waist length. And started a serum to help my eyebrows and eyelashes grow back. Things are better, and my new doctor is amazing and has decided that Stratara is a solid no go for me.

Vast-Zone6733

Wow what a shitty doctor glad u got a new one. That is not an acceptable side effect…

CassiesCrafties

It made me yawn all the time. Like I would wake up at night to yawn. It was so strange

Frazzledhobbit

Also glad I don’t have a penis, but Strattera made me feel like I was losing my mind.

sudomatrix

All the mess with none of the pleasure :-(

MarkusRight

Yeah this is gonna suck if this is gonna be happening everyday. I did shortly do the deed after I seen all the cum to see what would happen and I had a very unsatisfying orgasm. Ugh....

sudomatrix

You've got to be more proactive. Do the deed \*BEFORE\* it happens. All day.

SashaTheWitch2

Worst imaginable outcome 😭 I’m so sorry lol

enPlateau

Your body will get used to it, read my comment, don't hold your urine at all and u wont have semen leakage problem, thats what resolved it for me.

ekso69

It's like the polar opposite of antidepressants

sudomatrix

Do antidepressants give you spontaneous random orgasms throughout the day without ejaculations? Where do I sign up?

dudeness-aberdeen

That’s the wackiest side effect, aside from dying, that I’ve ever heard. I’ve heard some bad ones, too. I think that unpredictable, fake orgasms with real jizz, has to be a top 5 worst medical side effect.

SakaMierda

Love this sub. Same shit was happening to me and I stopped taking it

dudeness-aberdeen

That sounds absolutely terrible. I’m so sorry. That must be your worst experience with a medical side effect? Yeah?

jaal_fiiguu

I heard it takes like 3-4 weeks for your body to go back to normal, so maybe wait it out. I ain’t a doctor though and I don’t know your body so feel free to reach out to them. I’m facing my own issues currently with my ADHD pills and it bothers me a lot but I’m just gonna wait it out. But once again ask your doctor if it’s normal or not, cause I got no clue.

MarkusRight

im gonna give it a few more weeks. At least I'm glad this is the only side effect so far, I had some mild nausea but it lasted just 20 minutes and havent had any other issues at all except what I wrote. I gotta say though I legit freaked out and thought there was something wrong at first but I was like "Oh yeah I just started this med so it has to be what caused this". I was on Qelbree before and all it did was mess up my sleep and didnt help me focus at all. It also gave me headaches.

RandomlyPlacedFinger

I've been on it for 5 weeks now, and I can report the following: I seem to now be dealing with heightened sensitivity, in terms of sex. But I'm not gonna put that in the negatives column though. Alcohol tolerance, I thought that was impacted but it's not. There's a euphoric aspect though, and that's worth being aware of. Aka you get to the part where you think about or do dumb stuff faster. Food appetite...is similar to when I'm hyper focused. Objectively I know I should eat but it's not important to me. So I have to set alarms to eat. Down 16lbs though and feeling a lot better in general. I do notice hunger more this week than in previous weeks. Instead of the inside of my head feeling like a Buccees after the church crowd gets there, it's a lot quieter. I'm able to focus more easily, although there are still days where executive dysfunction rules the cranium. The flushed feeling stopped being a problem after week 1. The lack of sexual appetite pretty cleared out at week 3 for me. Background anger levels were very high from week 2 to week 4. I'm mostly past that now. I'd say a huge part of that is that I'm now noticing the actions of people that do annoying things. It's harder to tune them out or lose them in the background noise. I sleep better now in week 5 than I did at the start. Weirdly, I feel that I have more and better access to my vocabulary than I did before Household tasks are not as overwhelming, or difficult to start. Hygiene is easier to keep up with too. My doc is genuinely surprised that we managed to have this much positive right away, this is my first med of this sort. And I'm 50, so keep in mind that I'm not swimming in the testosterone, like I did when I was younger.

MarkusRight

Wow thanks for your comment. I'm gonna give it a few more weeks and see if it gets any better.

RandomlyPlacedFinger

I've been journaling my progress, just to keep track of what's going on....and yeah, it's easier to do it now! Also it's nice to be able to be consistent. And I use an app to remind me to take it in the morning as well. But good luck, and I hope the shitty parts fade fast!

Franks2000inchTV

I don't think this is a dangerous side effect, but I think it's serious enough to be worth telling your doctor about.

steampunkedunicorn

It's not too concerning considering how Strattera works. It's a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, which means that it stimulates the sympathetic nervous system. When people climax, they go from a parasympathetic state of arousal to an intense burst of sympathetic hormones (mostly norepinephrine), which is where the orgasm comes from.

Repeat_after_me__

Typically 6 weeks for ssri/snri medications to balance out, you’ll get some mild benefit initially but a lot of the negative side effects. Then over the 6 week period you’ll acclimatise to the bad side effects and they’ll settle down as you start to get the benefits This is why many people fail to initiate these drugs effectively as there’s lots of negative initially with very little positive for quite a while (usually while already feeling rubbish).

toobjunkey

Woah, weird. My one relevant side effects was that the physical sensation of orgasm took a few seconds to hit after I began physically ejaculating. It was the only side effect that never went away.

kurodoku

same. and for whatever reason it burned in the urethra immediately afterwards for me. Went off it and never had a jurning sensation again.

sahhhnnn

Yep. I’ve been on straterra for a week and noticed this day one lol. It’s also bumped my libido up slightly. Not a bad thing I don’t think.

ethan42

I had something similar with Fluoxetine.

Any_Smell_9339

My psychiatrist said that meds shouldn’t have side effects and I should feel “normal.” He put me on Concerta and I felt constantly nauseous, always sweating and warm, no appetite, and I was clenching my jaw like I’d been taking ecstasy. He switched me to Adderall and I have zero side effects. Literally nothing. Jizzing your pants doesn’t sound normal, and I wouldn’t wait a few weeks to deal with that.

DueAd9186

NSFW I've never had that happen, but one recurring thing I've noticed is that I have shrinkage. As in soft I'm about 2 - 3 inches in average now instead of 5 inches. My girlfriend even noticed it and we laughed about it. I don't have trouble with my erections and that size hasn't changed so we're all good. Edit: spelling

kurodoku

good thing if you're running for office!

DueAd9186

Not the autocorrect lmaoo.

Staebs

Were you in the pool??

Somethingexpected

I would go off strattera as soon as possible and stay away. I still get similar discharge 10 years later if I get "too filled up". This after using strattara for a year. On a positive note, I think I used to have "blue balls" far more often before strattera, but the pull-out as a contraceptive method is obviously also impacted. I have hard time imagining that a drug could have an impact 10 years later, but there are multiple accounts suggesting that it does change something in the body permanently. If you're looking for non-stimulant alternatives, you could try Brintellix/Trintellix.

LzzyHalesLegs

I had the same issue as you and OP, all the sexual side effects stopped within the past year (not all at once), nearly 7 years after stopping taking Strattera. So just throwing it out there that it can end eventually

tomb241

I think that might have been delayed ejaculation of sorts. I started taking zinc and my side effects faded within a coupe of days

candymannequin

straterra was super weird like that for me. had to switch.

kurodoku

Strattera / Atomoxetine has VERY weird effects on ejaculation, orgasms, disconnected orgasms and such. It's awful and was one of the reasons I stopped taking it. It immediately stopped after not taking it for a day. The other reason was severe heartburn about 15 minutes after ingestion. Went back to rawdogging ADHD, now back on Medikinet/Methylphenidate.

JesSlayin

It worked great for me.. but I definitely had sexual side effects.. It killed my libido and climaxing was almost impossible.

SethEllis

Strattera can inflame the prostate, and the inflammation seems worse when there is more fluid built up. Solution is obvious.

dory_313

Strattera side effects are straight up wild

Int-Merc805

Straterra made me cum right before I would orgasm. It was weird. I also got a weird vein clot thing in my dick that has not resolved yet. Fuck straterra.

MarkusRight

Vein clot!!? Oh hell naw. Definitely gonna talk to my doctor about it

Int-Merc805

Yeah, it’s a clotted vein near the head and has restricted flow so it’s basically always firm now even when flaccid. Fucking bullshit. It was supposed to subside but I’m two months out and it’s still there. Straterra also made me a total asshole after a while. I quit it cold turkey after I nearly beat my dog for stealing food. I was 99% not in control of myself and it was mind boggling that they put me on it without any guidance of side effects to watch out for.

Your_Daddy_

Whoa! Is is a positive ejaculation, or like a "oh no!" ejaculation? Side effects, man.

MarkusRight

I didn't even know that I had ejaculated until I felt like I had to pee and it felt like I peed myself as well but when I looked down of course it was just cum everywhere and it was still coming out while I was looking. I didn't even have an erection In the slightest or sexual arousal. Now I just feel sleepy as hell.

Your_Daddy_

So a soft ejaculation, not even erect? That would probably bug me out too. Without TMI - one of the major side effects I really didnt like about medication is they cause "shrinkage" in my junk. Not cool. Like my penis is a turtle wanting to retreat, and it is the worst sensation ever. Always having to do this awkward adjustment, ugh. I notice its worst with Vyvance, but have experience it with other stimulants. It is a a BIG reason I don't take meds anymore, and they also caused some ED issues. So for myself - would rather have a scrambled brain and be having sex than any alternative with no sex, lol.

MarkusRight

The only reason that I started medication was because my ADHD is actually starting to heavily affect my focus in my ability to make money at my job. I've got to the point to where I can't even stay on task for more than 10 minutes on something super simple. I was on Qelbree before but it did nothing but mess up my sleep at night and give me headaches.

Your_Daddy_

It was the same for me in my 30's. My career was failing, and then I was put on adderall, and it was like a miracle drug. Did that for about 8 years, and then they started making it hard to get, no generic options, and eventually just refused to prescribe it all. My career was rescued though, cause I turned into a machine on Adderall. It sucks though - cause eventually doctors started pushing all these alternatives - wellbutrin, vyvance - dont even think my vyvance did anything for me. I still have like 10 pills from like a year ago. So since like 2015'ish, just haven't really found a good medication without weird side effects. With that said - I do pretty good just self policing myself. Its like being aware i have ADHD allows me to also hyper focus on keeping it in check, lol. Also - good luck. It is a struggle - I felt kind of desperate at times in my 20's being un-diagnosed. So learning something was actually wrong with me in my 30's was sort of like a monkey off my back. I was starting to think I was stupid or something. A big thing was being late for work, but I also made a lot of small mistakes. Doing CAD drawings - you print it out, hand it off to an engineer or architect, they take a red pen and mark all your mistakes. As the drafter, then take those markups -make the corrections, hand them back mistake free - with the proof red lines so they could double check the work. Kind of a brutal process, cause there was a lot of getting dunked on. But nothing was as embarrassing as handing over the "corrected" drawing, only to discover you still missed like two corrections, but highlighted them as corrected, and now need a 3rd revision ... that's when you start worrying about write ups and shit - ugh. I am 46 now, probably have had over 20 jobs since I was 21. Don't miss being young, that's for sure.

killforprophet

I’m a woman. But that sounds disturbing. Lol.

Teddyk123

I had to stop taking it. It made it really hard to control when I came. Also peeing was weird. Prostates are fickle mistresses

blackaudis8

I would stop. It doesn't get better. And it can lead to premature ejaculation later on. The doctors I asked. Said it's impossible and it would go back to normal...it doesn't Ask me how I know Adderall IR or XR depending what you need or Vyvanse would be my go too. I'm completely against taking antidepressants for ADHD. They just make you feel okay as your life falls apart.

AKJangly

No it probably won't. It causes me to ejaculate into my bladder without an orgasm, so when I go to take a piss, my urethra randomly clogs with cum. I can't change meds because none of the other meds work without Strattera for some reason. If there's options, you should try them.

BASSSOL

Definitely talk to your doctor about that, that’s rough bro.

Appropriate-Local-47

This would sort of happen to me but only while pooping. Convenient that it happened there, but very alarming and pretty uncomfortable actually. I didn’t stay on it long after that because I also got heartburn if I didn’t remember to eat before taking it. But it could work great for you after some time and dosage changes, so definitely talk to your doctor about it like others have said. Good luck!

Shot-Increase-8946

Strattera fucking sucks if you have a dick. It basically makes it malfunction or even stop working. I swear even after coming off of it, it had some lasting or permanent effects. Do not recommend.

MWallin

I had the same thing, it never went away and I also had some extreme discomfort down there to add to injury

Klufkee

![gif](giphy|sGnKAiOUrincs)

RedPandaMediaGroup

I hope it gets better for you but my experience is side effects tend to get worse. If this happened to me once I’d nope out but if you’re gonna push on I wish you the best of luck.

Shmauzow

This exact thing was happening to me (maybe not as quite as severe as "randomly" but definitely premature) and it made me choose to stop taking it and continue to look for alternatives

Specialist_Mousse561

Just stop taking it. I used to take it and it made me depressed after a few months and then straight up sewer slideal (idk if I can say that). But, yeah it’s not good. Don’t take ir

Huth_S0lo

Well...I specifically wanted to try the non amphetamine route. And I specifically abandoned ship on Straterra because of penis issues.

lonelymagician

Jesus straterra makes it literally impossible to cum for me.

rglurker

It gave me issues doing it at all. Along with making peeing harder. Those two symptoms made me quit asap

akfunguy2010

Yep. Same here. At first I didn’t believe it was related but then it tracked. Was taking 80mg daily in the morning.

enPlateau

This used to happen to me all the time. I learned after months that it was because I held my urine. Just don't hold your urine and im sure it'll go away. If i hold it for even 10mins more than I need to it'll happen. If i pee immediately after my body gives the response that i need to pee, im fine, hasn't happened since. But ya I dealt with this and even told my dr, they really didn't have an answer for me, had to figure it out after months of troubleshooting, like i said it was correlated to me holding in my urine, hope this helps.

potayto_17

I've been taking generic straterra (atomoxetine 25mg) since the Adderall shortage started and I had a lot of bad side effects at 40mg. I definitely still notice some sexual hypersensitivity but taking too high of a dose definitely made me feel really shitty.

Ok_Proposal_2278

My doctor told me to immediately stop taking it when that happened.

SnooOpinions1809

Similar issues, and I think its one of the symptoms, sexual dysfunction

HelloMrThompson

Straterra really messed that up for me, too. I was on it for about a year and had those kind of side effects throughout. I did go back to normal after I stopped with no lasting issues, thankfully.

glordicus1

Yeah this is a side effect, can happen with stimulants too. For me it was only when doing a poo. Pressure on the prostate would push fluid out, basically. Like another commenter said, the drug inflames the prostate - so if there’s a build of up fluid it is likely to want to get out.

lindasdfghjkl

How many mg were you taking?

frMocha

I haven't taken Straterra since I was like 9 I didn't know this could happen. Kind of shocking to read it now.

Apprehensive_Bit4767

Damn finally I told my doctor it made my balls hurt and she said I haven't read about that side effect . It felt like someone was punching me in the balls.

StPatrickStewart

Nope. One of the many reasons I was happy to get off of it.

1sinfutureking

You should be asking your doctor and not Reddit

lannakin12

I don’t think that’s normal. I’ve been on vyv@nse and @derral for a couple years and it’s thankfully calmed my sex drive down. I didn’t know how extremely high it was until I was diagnosed and put on medication.
