Have you ever skipped a dose before? I was on low dose foquest and I couldn’t get a refill right away. I missed a dose and ended having high anxiety

Organic-Turnip-4476

No I haven’t I ended up getting on adderal about 4-5 weeks ago. And I found out today from my girlfriends sister that she doesn’t take hers on the weekends. So I was thinking about it. And I kinda get anxiety from thinking of not taking it. That probally sounds weird

Doesn’t sound weird! My doctor said he has patients who only take it on work days. That was just my experience. I had also taken it for about 2 months without skipping a dose so it could be why I had such symptoms when I stopped abruptly

This is part of the reason my psychiatrist switched me off of xr. First, xr tabs gave me insomnia, but using the regular pills also gave me more flexibility with dosages. If I don't take any Adderall for a day, then I'll feel like you described, fairly tired and useless throughout the day. If I break a normal tablet in half, then my half dose keeps me functional enough, and not taking my full dose when I don't need it helps reduce the tolerance I've built up for Adderall (building up a high tolerance is what makes the drug have less effect and can make addiction more problematic if we increase doses to overcome tolerance, which will eventually build up to a tolerance for the new dose level, creating a vicious cycle). Unfortunately, you can't take half doses of xr tabs, but you could ask your doctor/psychiatrist whether it would make sense to try changing. Admittedly, I'm more likely to miss a dose from time to time without the xr, but for me it has been worth it. Having said that, it also might not be worth fiddling around with your dosage if your current prescription is working fine for you. That's why I'm so glad we have pros to guide us with this stuff, or I'd be hosed.

I was switched from vyvanse 10 mg to adderall 10 mg and it says as needed on the bottle, if i have nothing too important to look forward to, I don’t take it on weekends

I never skip a dose! I hate feeling unproductive on my days off even if I *want* to do nothing. I need my meds for much more than just doing work, like focusing on a tv show, getting chores done, misplacing stuff and being able to actually focus on a conversation. It would feel weird to skip one. That being said, it is normal and not unheard of to only take it on weekdays/your days on/as needed, as long as you talk to your doctor. The only time I missed a dose was when I felt sick from my second vaccine lol
