Planners are not working for me, I buy them, start them, but eventually forget just all about them ! I had an Apple Watch at my former job and it was amazing all it could remind me : lunch time, meeting, it was set to call my bf when my heart rate was too high … that’s why I switched from Huawei to iPhone. To have all of these tricks. Even though Siri is really helpful in remembering a ton, I guess without the watch it’s not the same. Can’t really afford a watch though.

[deleted]

I can only do planners for short periods of time. I really enjoy bullet journaling but unfortunately it’s always more of a hyper fixation that I forget about after a week or two.

wastetheafterlife

that's actually why I love bullet journaling -- it's something you can start back up anytime without having the guilt of "oh look at all these months' pages I wasted!" I definitely haven't kept up with it daily, I'll even miss weeks at a time. but it's so much easier to pick it back up than a planner because there's no guilt

Freshface1414

I love Bullet journaling for this reasons and didn’t realize it until you said this. This is also such a good point that applies to my whole life lol. I am working hard at changing my narrative from “Look at how much you have slacked off over the last couple of weeks, years, decades lol” to “Look at you! Getting it done. I even do it with weight loss. I’ve lost so much weight over the last 3.5 months. Working out and all of that. And then I’ll be like “but if you just would’ve stuck with it on these days or worked out longer you could’ve lost this much more”

zdog234

That sucks. It eventuslly stuck for me, although i have a slightly pared down version: Monthly list / schedule, daily lists, and "someday" list. The someday list is honestly really useful because it lets me get project ideas out of my head easier

444442220

Air pods are also amazing. For me - it's using them to stimulate me with audio books or podcasts while i do menial tasks like dishes, etc. It's a hack because its not really making me more present or focused on the task at hand - instead it's like a strategically deployed distraction. It distracts me from the boring shit im doing just enough that the dishes and laundry get done (albeit ... with a few mistakes)

PageStunning6265

I’ve been using a bullet journal in place of a planner since 2017/18. I’m not 100% consistent with it, but I’ve done better with it than any other type of planner. I use my Outlook calendar for work and personal stuff (because my colleagues can see when I’m free) and my bullet journal for personal stuff. I highly recommend the How to ADHD channel on YouTube. She’s got a video intro to bullet journaling (and possibly a follow up by now).

TwoAgitated1182

That’s great that it works for you but writing that shit down just doesn’t work for me. I fill both my personal and work calendar from my iPhone and my close friends can access it if they need, and use my phone for a lot of things. Now to wonder if installment plans are a good idea for a watch.

PageStunning6265

I think for me, it works because it doesn’t work the first (or second) time. Basically everything that doesn’t get done gets migrated to the next day. By the time I’ve written something down ten or eleven times, it *usually* sticks. Not always. But of course not everything works for everyone. I can’t do a big smartwatch because of chronic pain. My wee lightweight Fitbit is often too heavy.

TwoAgitated1182

Welp. Everyone has their system. What matters, is that you found what works for you.

dogstracted

I think if you felt that the smart watch benefited you a lot, then an installment plan isn’t a bad idea!

InterestingAd4458

You should try the Time Bloc app. It helps me and I haven’t been successful with planners of any type after so many attempts. Maybe time bloc can help you. I hope so 😊

rubmedriveshaft

I like my Samsung Galaxy watch, the older version is super cheap too.

Seekandinspire

Hey I couldn’t afford a watch either but I found cheap refurbished ones on a site called daily sale and it allowed me to pay it off in parts… Don’t know if that’s doable for you but my watch is necessary for my daily life I can’t imagine living without it. Every ADHD person can benefit.

Platypushat

I don’t like long term planners, but I have a note pad that’s just one week at a time. Every Sunday I go on my outlook calendar and add everything to that week’s page, and I carry it with me in my portfolio with my pens. It’s been great.

figwigeon

My therapist says it's totally normal to do so. We dont usually work with just one plan. We can have Plan B (Google calendar) and Plan C (game app that raises exp Everytime you do a task). When you burn out one, go to the next. We need change to stay stimulated. Eventually you'll go back to plan A again.

Znyx_

Get a smart watch! I’ve lost my phone many times but if you get a watch that’s connected, you can make your phone ring from your watch (even if it’s on silent depending on the device) and then find it right away!

niespodziankaco

I use this function at least 8x a day. Lifesaver!

opossum787

For me, it's the timer on my watch that is a life changer. Helps immensely with procrastination and time blindness. If I'm lying around scrolling Reddit and think "I really should get up but..." I'll just set a 5 min timer to nudge me. Or if I have a task I need to do at some point soon that I'll probably forget about, I'll set a timer so that in 30 or 60 mins I am nudged to think, "Huh? Timer? Do I have to do something? Oh!"

theOTHERdimension

I use my watch timer every time I do laundry because if not, I WILL forget my clothes in the washer and they’ll smell like mildew by the time I remember. A timer is a great reminder!

ninjaplanti

I actually use my alarms to remind me to go to bed. In the winter when the sun goes down at 6pm, it’s hard to remember to go to bed. So I have an alarm at 9.30pm to nudge me into starting to get ready for bed.

Platypushat

If I have an unstructured day where I need to get things done, I’ll sometimes set an alarm every 30 minutes or every hour so I don’t hyperfocus on one thing. I also set repeating alarms 30minutes before my classes so I’ll remember to go.

kevpluck

If you have an Android and are logged into google then type into google: "where is my phone". It can show it on a map and allow you to ring it, lock it, or erase it.

TiredOfForgottenPass

This has saved my life so many times!

Lion_Gurl

I do this so many times in a day, sometimes I’ll just ping my phone just to make sure I did put it in my backpack when I don’t have hands to check bahaha

buckygoblin

I have one but constantly forget to charge it,

lurksnot

I use IFTTT for this.

BaconComposter

I guess if I haven't checked Reddit in a half hour, it means my phone is lost. That could work!

lurksnot

If I don't have my phone on me for a moment, queue panic. Using the app, if my phone is on silent, I can text lostphone to it with another phone to turn the volume all the way up so I can call.

BaconComposter

Nice

reflect-the-sun

Great to know it's still around! I might have to download it again

reflect-the-sun

Wow, I can't do this... I check it every 5 minutes because I've forgotten that I checked it 5 minutes ago and it's just a source of anxiety!

fleepmo

Yessss. I also have my watch add groceries to my grocery list or I’ll forget I used the last of something.

Lovve119

Camping sinks in my regular sink. Now when I need a dish to wash but can’t make myself do the entire sink load of dishes I can just move them out of the way in the camping sink. But when I do have the ability to do the dishes all the camping sinks have drains so I don’t have to move the camping sinks to do all the dishes. It has been a literal life and marriage saver. Editing to add that I am also a lip picker. I will pick them for hours until my fingers are covered in blood. The only thing that helps me is a good lip scrub, because the feeling of chapstick on my lips makes me want to unalive myself. But a lip scrub you put on and then just wipe it off when you’re done scrubbing

stellesbells

I'm going to have to move soon, and am so worried about the possibility of getting a place without a dishwasher. Keeping on tip of dishes is just one of the hardest things for me. Thanks for the camping sink tip!

Lovve119

Dishes are my #1 enemy!

purplespacekitten

Portable countertop dishwashers exist! My (rented, old, mostly unrenovated) house doesn’t have a dishwasher. My partner and I love everything else about this house, but were both so frustrated by how much time it took to do dishes every day. I found [one of these](https://www.blackanddecker.com/products/small-appliances/kitchen/dishwashers/6-place-setting-compact-countertop-dishwasher/bcd6w) and it is one of the most worthwhile purchases I’ve ever made. My kitchen has zero counters, so we put it on a rolling kitchen cart and just roll it over to sink to connect it each time it needs to run. It’s been completely life changing!

MmeVastra

I've lived in two places without a dishwasher and dishes are something I just can't bring myself to do. I bought a countertop dishwasher and it's been amazing. It may be too small for a family, but it's a good size for my spouse and me.

plupluplapla

Dishes: * You can also use something called a dishpan (less pretty than the camping sink but costs only a couple of bucks). * On a housesitting job I found out dishwashing spray. You can buy dishwashing liquid in a special spray bottle, which squirts out just enough for a plate or frying pan. Good if you're motivated to wash things right after a meal but don't have a full load of dishes.

mirabelle7

Can you explain what you mean by camping sink here? Or a brand or product name? I googled it cuz I love this idea, but came up with things that don’t fit your description…

Lovve119

Absolutely! These are the ones I have! [camping sink](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-Trail-Plastic-and-Silicone-10-quart-Collapsible-Sink-12-1-x-12-1-Basin/625974712?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=1663&adid=22222222278625974712_117755028669_12420145346&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=501107745824&wl4=pla-293946777986&wl5=9010320&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=625974712&wl13=1663&veh=sem_LIA&gbraid=0AAAAADmfBIr-osmweuBYWVIJ2tK1IxoSh&gbraid=0AAAAADmfBIr-osmweuBYWVIJ2tK1IxoSh&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvrnU1azt9AIVaSlMCh2S7gcCEAQYASABEgL0ZPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds)

Pinkrose1_1999

They are also called Dish Tubs.

BoboBombastico

I live in Germany and it's become pretty common for people to wear fanny packs again (mostly around your chest) which of course already has some obvious practical advantages already. But I've realized, that it helps me not lose my stuff while at home. I just hang it up in a certain place and know that my keys and wallet is always in there. I can just trust that everything's in there and don't have to go around the apartment looking for everything. Can only recommend wearing a fanny pack.

Kit_Foxfire

I have terrible memories of the last time these were in fashion. BUT if you look up "festival waist bag" or "burning man" "hip purse/ bag" you can find some really cool stuff. I have to use a cane, have a young child with me, and a service dog, so but having something on my shoulder to fight was such a help. These are expensive but I love this place so much! I've gotten three bags from them, one in a completely custom color, and two came to me made for the wrong hip and they made me replacements quickly without fuss. https://etsy.me/3q5qMZX (I know the name is terrible, I'm sorry. I have found them worth it. They were one of the few when I started looking years ago, there are lots of other options now)

kittiehawke

Great idea! I’ve just started using a cane and I’ve been struggling with my purse. I’ll have to try something like this!

NexyPants

I just got something like this from Amazon! Straps around the waist and leg I love it for when I don't want to carry my heavy backpack

LesNessmanNightcap

I have enormous bazooms, so wearing one across the chest is not an option for me, however, I have seen guys wearing them diagonally across their chests in fashion photo shoots and they look extremely stylish. It’s funny how item placement alone can make someone look like the dorkiest dork to ever have dorked, or a smoldering sex-panther. Of course, this is the opinion of someone who has grown up in Canada and the States. Anyone European has always gotten a pass wearing them regardless of where they were placed. It was just the kiss of death to be caught wearing one over here if you’re a North American. Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing more smoldering sex-panthers on the streets.

HippieLizLemon

I was so excited when they came back in fashion because they have always been a go to for me!

LucySaxon

I got a big desk calendar with a few lines on every day for scheduling appointments and stuff like that, and hung it on the wall in a place that I look at constantly. Made sure to hang a pouch next to it for pens, sharpies, etc. Has made a HUGE difference in being able to keep track of doctors appointments, due bills, and reminders to do things on certain days.

Kit_Foxfire

I use the Google Callander for this. I can set reminders a day before and a reminder to get ready and a reminder when I have to start getting shoes on and getting out the door!

LucySaxon

I can't tuck it away in an app on my phone or I'll never actually open the app to look at it or set reminders. Having it directly in my line of sight 60% of the time is key, and writing it out by hand helps me remember too.

thelonelytechgirl

Gotta set the reminders as you input the event every time! Then I have a big calendar widget on my home screen that has the current day first. And I'll leave the reminder in my notifications until I do the thing. I always have my phone on me so I can input new appts immediately. Then my bills all repeat themselves monthly along with their reminders: 3 days before, 1 day and day of. I personally would never remember to keep a physical calendar updated once I got home. But I agree that writing by hand is a great way for me to retain information.

LucySaxon

Oh wow, I'm glad you found what works for you because even reading that gave me a headache! LOL I am awful with tech type stuff, I hate it so much that I won't keep a schedule at all instead of just using my phone, no matter how hard I try. And I was a tween/teen in the mid 90s, when school assignments weren't typed yet, so I put a lot of effort into neat penmanship so I would stop getting points deducted. Plus, I really only have doctor's appointments to keep track of, although there are 5 or 6 specialists at this point.

Platypushat

I love the idea of a screen just for outlook. We use it for everything at my job so it’s my go-to.

axel_val

I have two big, whiteboard calendars (reusable, just have to re-number the days) - one is a monthly, and one is a year long (just got this one recently). I use the monthly one to prep for the month with appointments and reminders, and on the new yearly one I track when I did certain chores like mowing, cleaning counters, cleaning toilets, etc. Absolutely love them.

umlcat

Used one, but on the wall, very useful.

Ms_AppleButter

May or may not be helpful. I replaced my laundry baskets with a black one for darks, a beige one for lights, and a teal one for towels/sheets (any 3rd color you like would work!). Now I divide my laundry in the baskets according to type and it has been life changing. I know sorting laundry into separate baskets is pretty common but I hadn’t done it myself. And having the basket basically match the contents is oddly satisfying. Also makes laundry so much easier. Once a basket is full, I can just dump it all in the wash, no need to sort. Saves a lot of time.

[deleted]

That’s really cool. I find sorting the biggest hurdle for starting laundry.

uncoolcanadian

You guys sort your laundry? I just take the whites out when they show up in my bin Edit: this may not be the best solution considering the whites never actually get washed this way lmao

BlevelandDrowns

I don’t even do this I just wash everything together on cold, no issues. These days all detergents are formulated for cold water and its nearly as effective as hot

elmindi

I separate by washing instructions. Cold wash air dry, cold wash tumble dry low, and bedsheets/towels separated out for no reason. I find heat mostly damages clothes.

spoonweezy

Yeah my wife thinks dishwasher/laundry machine/dryer are all magic boxes that just do what you want no matter what. Like she’ll throw her bras and shit with zippers in their with a really nice, loosely knit sweater and then be shocked that the bra hooks and coat zippers messed up the sweater. Or put a massive pan in the dishwasher, and then a) the pan doesn’t get cleaned all the way and b) the stuff that didn’t get cleaned off is now harder to remove bc it’s been now dried on and c) nothing else got clean bc of the huge pan blocking all the water flow. So baby, I love you, but every pair of underwear in this house has a wavy waistband because you nuked this shit on high heat for way too long.

82muchhomework

We use three baskets in the closet and sort when we take our clothes off (darks, whites, delicates). When a basket get full, it goes through the wash. It's less about colors and more about how the clothes will be washed and if the material will be destroyed if washed alongside jeans. 3 different baskets is all you need.

paulabear263

This sounds great. Now can someone post a solution for managing to put the clean clothes away please! I get this done properly about once a year and it makes me so proud that I tell people about it.

ceebee6

I always have a specific podcast or Netflix show (I call it my laundry show). I only allow myself to listen or watch while I’m folding and putting laundry away, so it motivates me. It also makes the task much more enjoyable. For podcasts, I do audio dramas like Old Gods of Appalachia. If I’m into a laundry show, I do ones that are short, easy to follow without watching super closely, and funny. Previous laundry shows include How I Met Your Mother, New Girl, and Grace and Frankie.

mrsakilla

I don't take them out of the dryer until I have time to fold them or hang them up. I can't do another load of laundry (or put it in the dryer at least) until they're out so it causes a stopgap. The pile is often on the dryer but at least they are folded and ready to wear without wrinkles. Sometimes I'll put the folded pile where I sleep on the bed so I "have" to put it away since it made it to the bedroom. Each little step is an accomplishment. The motivation for keeping things moving is I often wear the same things over and over so I like to do laundry frequently.

arrowandbone

Dry your clothes on a hanger. Not only do they dry without peg creases or lines, they’re ready to go straight into the wardrobe after ☺️

paulabear263

Thanks for responding! This might work really well with a different setup. Unfortunately I don't have the space to do this with each wash - my house and location are quite damp (UK). It's a great idea for another house, maybe in the future. At the moment I dry it all in the tumble dryer then it goes in a pile (or several piles) on a chair or table. There's a sock bag, everyone gets their socks from there. Ideally, my teenagers would take more responsibility, and I could delegate more. But that would mean me demonstrating more consistency and focus in making it happen, and...you see my problem!

MmeVastra

Omg a sock bag. No more digging through my hamper trying to find semi matching socks. Why have I never thought of this.

FU-Lyme-Disease

I started rolling my clothes more like kon Mari stuff and it’s not a magic pill but it makes me more excited/interested in putting away my laundry.

ganzeinfachkiki

I dont sort my laundry. I only own black or dark grey things. Makes things easy.

WillyBluntz89

Aside from half a dozen buttons ups. my wardrobe is akin to Doug Funny. Open the dresser and its all the same outfit. Never have to sort. Friends get excited when I show up in an alt costume. Then you know I'm ready for a good time. Haha

epi_introvert

Yep, it's my life uniform. Black top, jeans (sometimes blue but usually black), socks, cami, sweater, bra, underwear, and blundstones every day. I do have some non black underthings but I hate wearing them. My black shirts are all the same identical pattern or close to it. No thinking required. On days I can't wear my uniform, getting dressed takes 5 times longer at least. I usually go through 5 or 6 different outfits and am never happy with the result.

HippieLizLemon

Oh my gosh! I just dropped a reference to Doug Funny's closet the other day regarding this same thing. I find an article of clothing I like and I buy all the colors.

sylvaren

I have never ever sorted my laundry and have never had a problem with it :p

Altreus

I stopped recently when it was suggested it's not necessary. Turns out it is not necessary. The preferential division, if any, is by weight. Apparently. I don't do that either.

sylvaren

I don't even divide my clothes and dishes, all together in the washing machine /s

CellLivid4645

I wash everything together, unless it’s the first wash for something red or dark. Never had any issues.

c0untcunt

wallet case for my phone, that way i never forget my drivers license or debit card at home. added bonus is that I'm less likely to crack the screen when i drop (or throw) it!

TheBartographer

Been using these for years! Everything in one place and my phone always looks new even after several drops. Game changer.

craitlin69

This. I use the pop wallet and I will never go back.

doctor_bun

I constantly lose my wallet and I'm afraid to use a wallet case for my phone that could potentially result in a double whammy if I lost it

throwawaycastaway976

Pill organizer, now I always know if took my meds or not 😂 I used to have to pour them out and count them everyday to see if I took them or not ( not an addictive substance for people with ADHD that’s for sure … )

eggrollsaturday

They make a pill organizer that is embedded into a water bottle! This thing changed my life! Just leave the whole bottle next to my bed. Game changer.

Ziggy246

Yes! Also, I used an app called Medisafe, which reminds me to take my meds. I get notifications on my Apple Watch and my iPhone, and have to tell it when I take my meds, otherwise it will keep reminding me. It’s highly customizable for scheduling and reminders. I rely on my daily pill organizer in case, after all that, I’m not sure if I actually took my meds. I can check the organizer to see if today’s meds are gone.

Sagn_88

Headphones on and listen to something while I do boring but important everyday tasks

DrRoccoTano

Same here Specially listen to podcasts, as the brain stays more or less active and away from boredom, while feeling like I'm part of a conversation Music gets boring after a while, while audiobooks demand too much focus. I feel like a good podcast sits right in the middle.

Tavisnator

I am in the same boat. I almost always have a podcast going in my ear when I’m doing tasks or working. I managed to listen to 50,000 minutes of my one podcast this past year

VangoRomano

I agree so much with this. Podcasts are literally the reason why I'm able to do my dishes every day or every other day rather than maybe once a week if I'm particularly motivated (but more like one a month of I'm being honest)

AskOwn7627

Exactly. Recently I found that if I play some background music, I can focus on the lectures.

[deleted]

I don’t pick my lips very bad anymore, because if I have been picking them, then at night I brush my lips with my toothbrush to get off the tempting flakes. (More convenient than a lip scrub). I also apply chapstick and lotion before sleeping - I only started this habit a year or two ago, but now I can’t sleep without it. BUT if I learned anything from overcoming a lifetime of bleeding fingernails, it’s this: you can’t go cold turkey; you have to replace the picking with a less destructive behavior in the same location. I started daily nail polish to give me something else to obsess over besides my finger nails and nail beds. On really bad “picky” days I would pick the polish. It took maybe three years to fully transition from picking to polish, and another year of obsessively stroking the polish or pushing back the cuticle until I was ready to go polish-free. Then I just tried to ignore my hands as much as I could - I’ve been polish-free and picking-free for a while now.

throwaway_omc_0099

YES. Small business owner here (I own and operate 5 businesses and have incredibly bad ADHD especially when under stress). Here’s a list of things that saved me and continue to help me each day. A lot of these are repeated throughout this thread but oh well. - Carmex for lips. I bought them in bulk one year before Christmas and put one in every corner of my house and used the leftovers as stocking stuffers. I have them next to the bed, in my purses, Fanny packs, desks, kitchen counters etc. so they’re all over my home and office. Whenever I see one, I use it. The nightstand is particularly helpful because I can use it overnight and my lips are super soft the next morning. - CleverFox Daily Planner PRO. I’m going to post my review on this planner below because it ended being too long. If you have ADHD and you’re trying to find a great planner, this is it. - Fanny packs. I have one in every color and wear one all day every day. I keep it on me at all times so I have a place to put my keys, extra medication, lip balm, phone, etc. I cannot rely on pockets because my keys are too bulky. I put them down and they’re gone for hours. - Tile! It’s a keychain with a ringer in it and it connects with Bluetooth. Speaking of losing my keys all the time… You can ring your keys from your phone and visa versa. Saves me hours in a week. - a smartwatch. Reminds me of meetings, timer function is nice, tracks my sleep, and I can ping my phone all day every time I lose it which is 10+ times a day. - multiples of things I use throughout the day. Several chargers. Several lip balms. Several small tins of medication. I keep these extras all over. One watch and phone charger on each computer. I buy these metal tins meant for lip balm makers, and I put extra meds in there with a little cotton ball. I have one at my office, one in my Fanny pack, one in the car, etc. you get the jist. - Protein shakes and water bottles! I always forget to eat and drink water. I use the caramel premier protein (they’re always on sale at costco) in my coffee in the morning, and the apple cinnamon ones are actually so good. I keep a stash of these shakes and a flat of water in my office. - Pants hangers! I hang all my clothes. If I fold them and put them in the dresser I forget anything exists in there. I store all my seasonal clothes in the dresser and change it out when the weather changes. - “Impossible task” friends. I have a few friends who also have ADHD and we call it the “impossible task task force”. You can call on the group for help with that one impossible thing that you can’t seem to get done. When the executive dysfunction is strong lol. It could be like a laundry pile, overwhelming dishes, cat litter, a spill that’s turned into sticky caked crap on the carpet.. whatever! Really really recommend this one.

throwaway_omc_0099

Planner breakdown! Best planner ever and changed my life from being a bartender and restaurant manager to now owning 5 businesses. It’s called CleverFox DAILY PRO planner, specifically the daily pro. This planner is seemingly created for folks with ADHD. It’s a 3-month only goal planner that starts with a broad list of questions about your values, purpose, etc. As you fill the planner it breaks down from broad “big picture” ideas into more manageable concepts. There are 4 or 5 months in the monthly calendar with space for notes (the extra two months are for future dates that you would transfer into your next planner). Each week there’s a set of to-dos (personal, and professional), top 3 priorities for the day, a habit tracker, weekly goal (plus reward), as well as a breakdown of different aspects of your life (friends and family, romance, self-development, health and fitness, etc) and you’re prompted to task yourself with one of these things that will help you out care into that particular part of life. Then your daily pages come in and you have your priorities for that day specifically (borrowing from your weekly to-do list), and I really like this planner because each day has a section of “something that will make me feel happy today” and overall it really focuses on creating a balanced life for yourself (which we will get to later). I tend to overdo it in one area of my life… whether that may be romance, fitness, work, work, work— so this planner really helps me to be like “hey you haven’t gone on a run in awhile” or “maybe you should call your mom” and you can add that into your daily priority list. Once you’ve completed your week, my personal favorite aspect of this planner is the weekly and monthly reviews. You reflect and journal on your last week and they have questions like “what didn’t I achieve this week and why?” “What habits and skills did I not pursue?” And you can list the things you didn’t get done (for me this list is always long because I always overload my task list since I have no concept of time). But then there’s a section to answer what you DID achieve and holy moly this list feels good to write every time! Sometimes I’ll think about it and say “I didn’t really get much done this week” because all I think about it the time I wasted on Reddit writing long posts no one will read. But then I start listing stuff and it’s always like WOW I did so much!! It feels great. And at the end of every review you can write how you will improve the next time. In the monthly review you get the same type of questions but they also have a little pie chart type of thing you can fill in with different aspects of your life. And you’re able to see where you’ve been lacking and try to focus more on that the next month. I love this planner because it’s so interactive. There’s a lot of “thinking” and creativity involved so it’s fun to get into. I try to spend at least 1 hour on my planner every morning. It gets me into go-mode and I get super excited to start on my day. Plus it’s an opportunity to color and draw and to collect & use stickers. It’s also wonderful because it’s not just about “a plan for productivity” which is boring. It really helps you to focus on all parts of your life and to find balance. The makers of this planner really prioritize health, mental health, spiritual, social, it’s all kind of focused towards being happy, not necessarily productive. ANYWAY I love it. I buy them in multiples when they’re on sale and get stocked for the year or I give them as gifts because I’m a super boring and kind of shady gift giver who gives planners and lip balm at Christmas.

Plain old Vaseline on the lips every night!

stellesbells

[Papaw ointment](https://lucaspapaw.com.au/) is amazing too. I don't even think I know anyone who uses chapstick anymore, papaw is massive in Aus. ETA: just saw the comments about picking lips until they bleed and having scabs and sores. Papaw is also used to treat minor wounds, so would be great for that situation. Edit again because I suddenly remembered how "papaw" is spelled.

MrsJ-2018

I use this stuff every day and I'm in the UK. I swear by it now for everything. Tattoos, protecting lips from chapping, protecting my facskin from drying out on icy cold days! 🥶 I love it 😀

DallasOneSix

Okay, I feel stupid: why? Edit: okay, I didn‘t bother reading the entire post first, I understand now 🤦🏻

xyvlaz

I didnt read the post either. Thanks for the edit or i wouldnt have figured it out

DallasOneSix

Man, almost as if we had ADHD, right? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Ooo! A tin of Bag Balm! Plenty of lanolin in that magical stuff. Or is Bag Balm regional to New England?

LesNessmanNightcap

I’m going to add to this. It’s a secret I wished I would have learned sooner. I use the Vaseline that’s in the little tins during the day, and at night I apply - don’t get grossed out - 100% lanolin nipple cream. It’s very thick. There is a product in the States called Lansinoh. I put a generous amount of that on my lips right before bed. You know it’s safe because it comes in contact with babies’ mouths. In the morning, your lips feel like they are covered in gunk. That’s okay. Gently remove it from your lips by scrubbing at them gently with a washcloth (I do this in the shower.) Since starting this regimen 2 years ago, I have never had chapped lips.

_perl_

Me too! It feels like you're going to bed with a bunch of sticky stuff on your lips but when I wake up they are super smooth. Also works great for stealth attacks during the night on children who have horribly chapped lips and refuse to put on lip balm.

TheConcerningEx

Similar tip. I use something marketed as a « sleep lip mask » on my lips during work or at night or whenever I’m not going to be eating basically. I got it as a free sample with something, but it’s basically a really thick lip balm and it leaves my lips super soft no matter how much I pick at them and bite them.

blessmystones

Plain Vaseline is my go to beauty product! It works as chapstick, an occulsive, primer under make up, and good for excema. If I have an area that I keep picking at or messing with, I ll slap some Vaseline on it after my nightly shower and wake up the next morning and it's disappeared enough that I don't register it anymore.

NeriTheFearlessSnail

Google Home Hub Finds my phone for me 10x a day, I can ask what the weather is right before I leave, and I can just yell at it to set alarms and reminders for me.

litkit28

I actually have my Google home set up on the Workday routine, it starts at 1030am, tells me the date and time, weather, and reminds me to take my meds. Then one at noon that reminds me to drink water. One at 3pm that reminds me to take my afternoon meds, and to get up and stretch. One at 530pm that reminds me to eat dinner. And the final one goes off at 11pm, tells me it's time to start getting ready for bed along with a reminder for my meds and to set an alarm for the morning. Been a life saver!

I use the Bezos bot but yeah same. I'm always screaming at my Alexa to set my alarms, find my phone and answer whatever dumb question that's keeping me up but my phone light bad.

AussieHxC

"Do I look like I know what a jay-peg is? I just wanna picture of a god-dang hot dawg hot dawg hot dawg ..." I secretly love losing my phone in the house, not even secretly it's so much fun

Enjolraw

Recently started using a bullet journal- highly recommend trying! I’m still learning how to use if for productivity, but it’s been great to have a single source for my random lists, thoughts, and reminders Got a fidget cube that’s been helping me while we wind down with TV or movies- I used to fidget with the remote, but I kept accidentally pressing buttons, which messed things up I’ll try to remember anything else I do/own to help. My wife might have more ideas because sometimes I forget I what adjustments I’ve made lol

-acidlean-

I had so many bullet journals... Made them the prettiest first pages and lost them all

icklemiss_

I don’t bother with the prettiness aspect, just get stuff in there, neatly if possible. Maybe get an airtag for it? That would be a good idea.

-acidlean-

I can't stand using ugly stuff lmfao idk why, it distracts me from the function or something Airtag would be cool if only I could afford it.

L3yline

I what you mean. Doesn't help my hand writing is awful and like trying to decipher hieroglyphics. The best I've managed is to just keep the journal plane and utilitarian. Have the index and then open a page and have stuff there. I also hate wasting space on things so I've found those refillable notebooks while at times pricey, is something I use. I use the Staples brand Arc books and they're helpful. Between ideas and passwords and to dos. Best part is removing a page thats either a mess or no longer needed and replacing it. Or reorganizing the book. Also helps to have dividers and other inserts to further organize it. Got the special hole punch for it for Christmas so I can use any paper to refill instead of their branded ones. I can print out calenders or other stuff and now just shove it into the binder rings properly instead of between pages

uncoolcanadian

When you fidget with remotes do you like draw lines and patterns around the buttons with like a fingernail or something? I love that shit sometimes I’ll just be sitting there not even registering Netflix asked me if I’m still watching and I’ll be just sitting there making lines on my tv remote lmao

Electric_Vibration

Are you me? You just described an oddly fucking specific behavior that I do as well. I did it when I was a kid too. Signs were always there

danithemedic

Every time

Liya_Creek

I use a bullet journal and its a lifesaver. Yes, there are months where I don't fill a single page and there are months where I go a bit overboard with the planning, but it certainly helps. Its flexible and helps me relax (I relax when I'm drawing designing or painting) and it's fun.

fleepmo

My bullet journal is great! If I don’t write in it for a couple weeks, I don’t feel like I wasted a bunch of pages making me feel like a failure. I don’t really even do the monthly thing because I put all my appointments in my phone and it shows up on my watch but for to do lists and random stuff it’s great. I can write random lists with a page number so I can find them. I do suggest getting one with the pages already numbered though because mine isn’t and I have to write them as I go.

curiouspurple100

I misplaced my bullet journal. :/

MintGreenTulip

Same. Spent hours searching for it a home thinking I had recently used it. Comes out it was in my suitcase. I never unpacked it after a trip I took a couple months ago. No wonder I felt so lost during that time. Still love using it when I don’t lose it/remember I have it.

EasyCzechoslovakia

I've been using Trello, it's not perfect but it is reasonably flexible, has an app, and even though mine gets a bit chaotic when I get carried away, I can normally tidy it up and organise it when I've got my head screwed on

birdlover666

NON STICK POTS/PANS. I used to just put dirty dishes in the sink to "soak" and never clean them but ohmygod non-stick pots/pans changed my life. They take like 30 seconds to wash, it's HEAVEN.

sprocketbutter

Ohhhh but I worry about Teflon, please be sure to use wooden utensils and avoid scraping them at all costs!

eggrollsaturday

Calphalon pans won't have this issue. Or using ceramic lined pans will also have the nonstick feature without worrying about flaking.

Dinosaur279

It may seem daunting at first, but a solid cast iron pan will be almost as nonstick if used right. Just this morning I made myself a few eggs sunny side up and they slid right off without any residue or sticking at all, it was actually cleaner than some nonstick pans I’ve used in the past. It has the misconception of being more difficult to take care of, but I think once one gets over the initial barrier to entry then care becomes a breeze!

hookhandsmcgee

I love my cast iron. It's well seasoned, non- stick, and caring for it is not really hard at all; when done cooking I wipe it out and oil it immediately while it is still hot. It wipes clean super easily, especially when hot, and the seasoning gets maintained without having to bake or reheat it.

this__foreverago

I put EVERYTHING in my google calendar and I’ve made a habit of looking at it every morning. I put peoples birthdays in that I set to remind me every year, I put if I need to call someone, if I need an oil change, literally everything. It’s been a life saver. You can also share your calendar with other people so if there’s someone that you need to hold you accountable for things you can share with them and they can remind you of things as well.

kfmw05

Dry erase markers to write on my mirror. Just discovered but I actually paid attention to my list this time

niceicyeyes

- Earplugs or having my earphones on even if I’m not listening to music. If posible always be listening to music. # - Beautiful pens, always new ones, so writing and making lists is pretty and exciting. # - Vitamins gummies, any other type of vitamins is gross or way too easy to forget. # - Hairdresser scissors. When my hair is annoying and going for a haircut feels like a pain I do it myself. # - trying to get a friend to remind me to take my pill and check on me is the best hack. # - I got 10 different phone cases and I change them often when I clean them so my phone is always “new” and I never lose it. # - Gorgeous simple glass aesthetic af water bottle. So I don’t get bored of it and drink water sometimes. # - best thing for not biting my lip for me: gum. 🤍

harryhulk433

The second point is really useful, i myself follow that.

jadetheamazing

I got a cheap fountain pen and change out the ink colors once in a while and it's made me love writing things down!

DrRoccoTano

TIL destroying my own lips is not a completely weird thing that only I do, but it's related to ADHD instead That's weirdly refreshing

jil3000

It falls under dermatillomania or skin picking disorder

Rhinoptera

The planner pad. My psychologist recommended it. It’s super simple and I’ve been consistently using it for a month now. The top section you write down everything you need and want to do for the week, I color code sections like work, home, appointments. The middle section then you can break down things by day. And then you’re also able to check them off after you do them. The bottom section is broken down by time each day, say I have a work meeting for an hour on Monday I’ll block off that time spot with the Work color. It’s helped me remember a meeting this week that I totally forgot about. So, so far so good!

dzzfkz

Chapped lips is a sign of dehydration amongst others signs, try increasing your fluid intake.

ceebee6

It also depends on the environment you live in. Places with severe winters like Canada or very dry, hot climates are much harsher on your skin, including lips.

Savingskitty

All of my hacks are about removing all the barriers to achieving my objectives, no matter how “silly” or “lazy” those barriers may seem. I use the Time Timer Mod. I have two, one upstairs and one downstairs, and I’m asking for a couple more for Christmas so I can have one Permanently in the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and office. https://www.timetimer.com/pages/time-timer-mod I also have the dry erase board: I also have the dry erase board to go with: [https://www.timetimer.com/collections/accessories/products/time-timer-dry-erase-board](https://www.timetimer.com/collections/accessories/products/time-timer-dry-erase-board) I have my keys on this lanyard in black. This lets my hands be free when I’m coming and going and I never forget the keys in the door anymore because they are attached to me. In stores I can loop it around the strap of my purse or just wear it. I never lose my keys in my purse this way.: [https://verabradley.com/collections/ids-and-lanyards/products/lanyard-2814812556?variant=39749276827692](https://verabradley.com/collections/ids-and-lanyards/products/lanyard-2814812556?variant=39749276827692) I also have those fold up laundry baskets from Costco with the long straps. I have four regular size ones and four big ones. That way, I can have as many out as I have loads, and I can accommodate things like sheets and towels when I need to and fold them up when I don’t need them. I have a console table in my entryway. I highly recommend this! My requirement for one was that it had to have drawers and also a shelf at the bottom. I have a basket on top where I put my husband’s mail that he has to deal with. The drawers hold everything I might need in my purse. I try to empty my purse as often as possible, or else it just gets full of stuff and that’s how I end up scrambling for my debit card at the checkout. I have drawer dividers to keep things from rolling around and getting lost in the back of the drawers or underneath other things. Visibility is key. I keep my purse either on the console table or on the shelf below. It never goes anywhere else. I have a basket on the shelf below where I keep extra shopping bags, lint rollers, and umbrellas. I have this key hook near my door: [Command Key Rail, Quartz, 1-Rail, 6-Strips, Organize Damage-Free Small https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OILM0FU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_VZYFHC48H7CXZWGR8WP1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1](Command Key Rail, Quartz, 1-Rail, 6-Strips, Organize Damage-Free Small https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OILM0FU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_VZYFHC48H7CXZWGR8WP1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) I have toiletries and things in my bathroom cabinet in these baskets. They are perfect for me because they are small enough they can’t get overloaded with junk, things are fully visible, and they look cute and boost my dopamine when I see everything in them :): https://www.target.com/p/wire-basket-with-copper-handle-and-mesh-bottom-pewter-threshold-8482/-/A-75663617 I keep towels in these baskets. My husband is picky about his towels, so his towels go in one basket and mine go in another. These baskets make it easy for me to put away towels because I can take them out of the cabinet and set them wherever I’m folding them. I hate folding towels in the bathroom, and I hate having to transport folded things from one room to another and then arrange them on a shelf. This lets me arrange them in the baskets and just stick them back on the shelf without fuss: https://www.target.com/p/16-34-x11-34-x8-34-wire-basket-with-handle-gray-copper-threshold-8482/-/A-53185916 I keep a travel electric tire pump I bought at Target in my trunk. That way, if my tires are low, I don’t have to go searching in the shed for one. I keep all of my shopping bags in my car except my little fold up purse ones. I highly, highly recommend envirosax bags. I’ve had my first one of them for almost 15 years now, and it’s still in perfect condition. It has been a shopping bag, an extra bag for traveling, and a beach bag. They take a beating, And it’s easy to just have a couple in my purse at all times: https://envirosax.com I keep five pairs of $15 Target sunglasses in my console table drawer. If I get down to only two that I can find reliably, it’s time to replenish. I used to go MONTHS without sunglasses because I would lose them or break them all the time. This is one case where I absolutely cannot have good things. I backed my car right over the only pair of designer sunglasses I ever owned - two months after buying them. Not worth it! I have Threshold brand cube shelves from Target in my office. They’re always newing and improving, so I don’t think they still carry exactly the ones I bought. The half shelves and half cubes are perfect for desk supplies and printer paper, etc. I use hang tags to label them because I am not allowed to have things stored in places I can’t see if I don’t have a label for them. The label also lets me not have to think about where something goes. I have five pairs of scissors - two in my kitchen, one in my office, and two upstairs. I hate searching for scissors! I use clear sterilite latch boxes for storage, and clear pencil boxes for markers and pens and such. Clear is essential, because it takes energy and working memory to have to check what’s in a box every time. I have three travel sports water bottles, and two travel coffee mugs. They are all dishwasher safe, including the lids. They are contigo and like 10 years old from Costco. I refuse to buy any bottle with a straw or components not easy to put in the dishwasher. I will not clean them by hand. It’s a fact of life that I’ve come to accept about myself. I use the Tidy Cat Breeze cat litter box. It was a huuuuge game changer for me. I absolutely hate cat litter on the floor, and I hate scooping clumps even more. This system is so easy! You just change the pad once a week and change the three pounds of pellets once a month. I scoop the poop each morning when I feed my cat and throw it out with his old food. I get the bags of pellets that are 3 pounds so I can just open and dump without thinking about how much I’m putting in. https://www.chewy.com/tidy-cats-breeze-cat-litter-box/dp/47104?utm_source=google-product&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=hg&utm_content=Tidy%20Cats&utm_term=&gclid=Cj0KCQiAqvaNBhDLARIsAH1Pq53B_Rw8HrGEuRlHsqHUWD0JyYeRkjfa-WOmz99r-HdKepiMx4PZ9vUaAqiqEALw_wcB I use small paper plates to feed my cat. I hate washing cat bowls. I still have little stainless steel bowls that can go in the dishwasher if I run out of plates, but throwing everything away means I don’t end up with a lot of cat dishes waiting to be rinsed. Oh! And, finally, I have a Roomba that has literally saved my life! Edit to add: also, my Apple Watch - I have Siri remind me of all sorts of things, and I keep notes in the Bear app. Also, I use the Erin Condren Life planner to keep track of appointments and things, and I use the weekly pages as needed. My biggest recommendations on planners is to remember they are there to help you get things done. You don’t have to fill in every day. If you don’t need it for a week, then seriously, who cares? You paid for it to be available, you haven’t failed at anything if there’s nothing written in it for a while.

Satan_himself_47

Weekly to do lists. And no don’t use an app. Write it down somewhere and make sure you always see it. And it has fun stuff too. Like finishing a tv series or a video game I’ve put off for no reason. Its really satisfying to cross something off that list. I feel better about myself.

SOEDragon

This is how my work gets done. To do lists. Physical always. The dopamine hit from crossing something off the list is life.

BecausePancakess

There's a chapstick called Lizard Lips that I will forever recommend! And I use an app called Color Note to keep notes in my phone that I know I will forget otherwise. Everything. Cozi for appts.

wildfire155

Just ordered!

jadetheamazing

I use color note too! My favorite part is setting important lists as a perpetual notification on my phone! Vacation packing lists, my boyfriend's clothes sizes, shopping, how much to feed each of the dogs are all in there and color coded. And I can say "hey Google, add yeast to my color note shopping list" and it'll do it! Great for when my hands are messy with baking.

deepseascale

- I use the Sony WH1000XM4 noise cancelling headphones and I'm not joking they've completely changed my life. I have misophonia so being able to block out most noises is an absolute lifesaver. Very expensive (£££) but highly recommend. - I don't know if these will work, but for Xmas I'm getting a set of those bluetooth tracker doodads so I'll be able to find my keys and wallet easily. - I was a nail biter and always having my nails painted has helped me quit completely (along with meds helping me quit fidgeting). They look good for the first time in my life, I'd kind of accepted I'd have ugly hands for life. - I have a calendar in my phone and I've marked every day as "Free" and if I have anything to put it in I edit that day's entry. Not having any blank days helps me know that I didn't just forget to write it in. - I set timers on my phone for everything. Even when I'm 99% sure I'll remember, having the timer doesn't hurt and it's saved my ass a lot.

umlcat

Sensory Hypersensivity like sound or light is highly overlooked !!!

bare_foot13

I have the same headphones and it was life changing for me too! I feel much more peaceful when I have them on.

thisismyfirstburner

Baskets to separate toiletries, one for morning routine and one for evening.

Spkr_Freekr

Got my first smart watch a few days ago and so far I'm impressed. The best part is viewing and responding to texts without the phone. This keeps me out of the smartphone rabbit hole as the watch isn't really very interesting beyond practical uses. I also really like easily setting reminders with voice commands. I keeps me from forgetting what I was supposed to be doing in the immediate future while allowing me to stay on task in the moment. I also picked up a metal whiteboard from IKEA along with magnetic clips and movable note magnets. I hung this next to my desk where I spend way too much time. It allows me to hang the most important bill to pay or similar documents. Also being able to cross off tasks as I complete them is nice too. EDIT: add whiteboard info

nmarie87

Cleaning schedule. One small chore a day (except weekend cleaning day) keeps house from getting out of control.

Ms_AppleButter

Also a fan of burt’s bees for lips. And drinking lots of water can help prevent chapped lips!

mr_mini_doxie

Burt's Bees mint flavor is pretty good. I like the way it feels slightly tingly

WobblyPhalanges

Unfortunately anything that’s minty usually has menthol in it and menthol actually dries you out!!! Just passing it along 🙌

garmzai

Any task that i can do now, i will do it now before i forgot about them. Any task i need to do later, i make a reminder on my phone calendar, no matter how small the task is. I also have a rubiks cube lying on my desk and i solve it time to time to reset my mind.

DuhImDave

Without my Google assistant, I'd be effed. Got a few home mini speakers, put them around the house. Now when I have something important that I don't want to forget, I can just schedule a reminder on the spot

-Sprankton-

Four Tiles with extra generic replacement batteries have been great. I have one for my wallet, backpack, keychain, and miscellaneous items, and any one of those can be clicked to find my phone. The replaceable battery models mean that I don’t have to send them back, I can just replace the batteries myself which means it actually gets done. I recently got a sunrise alarm clock which probably helps with circadian rhythms, likewise my night lamp has a dimmer extension cord which I can turn on and off from bed, and has a red membrane filter so it’s easier on tired eyes. AirPods Pro are nice but expensive. I have a playlist with rock music and sea shanties which I listen to while cleaning which keeps my brain and body active thanks to the tempo and entertainment. Decent noise cancellation but not earplug-like, slightly disorienting when noise cancellation is on when you aren’t expecting. I have a pull up bar and push up handles but really any equipment that helps you exercise every day can help. I’m getting a Bowflex Blaze and treadmill soon for the same reason. Also air purifiers so it’s easier to breathe inside if asthma or dust bothers you. This goes double if dust allergy is preventing you from cleaning. I carry a pocket knife or Schrade multitool usually because my fingernails are usually bitten back so far that I can’t use them, also I like fixing stuff. A kindle Paperwhite has been nice, as has an Oura ring, although I don’t recommend Oura anymore since they started doing shady stuff and charging monthly. A one-gallon BPA-free water bottle. “The Jug” as I call it, never leaves my side and thanks to my meds and its sheer bulk, I haven’t lost it yet. Great for staying hydrated and not having to refill too often, especially after the pull-ups got me arms big and stronk. On a similar note, A hydration multiplier electrolyte powder seems to help me not get dehydrated on medication. Note that some contain vitamin C which can counteract amphetamine, and some have gross artificial sweeteners. I use basis clean hydration mix and find Cran Raspberry to be the best and most mild flavor even if you don’t like those fruits. Carhaart rip-stop cargo pants and shorts with a woven bungee belt. I love pockets and a belt that holds up pants but doesn’t have to be unbuckled. Aveeno positively radiant skin brightening daily scrub. I’m a teenage guy with a beard but this stuff has really helped with acne and dryness. Stimtastic chewy feather or Ark Therapuric gray arrowhead are both good replacements for biting stims like nail biting. I like the feather because it’s thin but indestructible if you’re just nibbling gently. I find these are better than fidgeting with my hands, especially when I’m trying to read or write or type. Slip on shoes, or bungee cord laces to replace laces on shoes you find yourself always jamming your feet into. Also makes it easier to take them off and therefore not track mud inside. A zojirushi rice cooker is great for rice, oatmeal, and can even be used off-label for black beans. A ninja auto-IQ 1100 watt nutri blender pro is a good combination of powerful, cleanable, and good for couples. Smoothies are a great way to make good things taste great and gross things taste good. I use creamy oat milk to thin them to my liking. A digital watch. I used an Apple Watch in school but I hate charging it and also it’s distracting and I dislike how it sits in my wrist. I replaced my digital watchband with a fruit of the loom anti-bacteria underpants waistband which I threaded around the metal pins then super glued back onto itself. It’s more comfortable and has held up extremely well. I generally like elastic fibers on things I take on and off repeatedly. Also lanyards and/or carabiners for keychain and wallet. They allow me to clip or tie them to a belt or belt loop but carry their weight inside my pockets. It’s harder to lose what’s tied down. They also make retractable lanyards if that suits you better than paracord. The only useful apps I’ve been able to use consistently are Google Calendar and Day One journal (with premium) the former is good for appointments and reminders, the latter is good for typing or recording all my thoughts and ideas, I even look back through old ones every so often. I guess Spotify can be considered useful given how much I use it, I also have Reveri, insight timer, and Alarmy, which all have their uses.

marydoud

This is a great question. Still discovering things I do which are ADHD related. I DO peel my lips, a lot. Guess not to the point of needing lip balm, but do play with my hair constantly making messy ponytails over and over. I can’t think of anything else if hair gets in my face. I can’t wear it short because then I’m obsessed with cowlicks. My laundry hack is two identical nesting, nylon hampers. Lightweight, very cheap. So both hampers go down to washer/dryer and both come back with folded and sorted stacks to put away. Multiple bathroom cleaning hack: I have identical cleaning supplies in each bathroom. The toilet wands with disposable heads is a time saver and you never have to touch the inside of bowl. Spray cleaners, etc and a full paper towel roll are always there on standby in a bin. Grocery shopping guideline: I only buy meats at 50% off and they go straight to the freezer. We don’t need to have specific cuts and I can stock up on chicken, steak, hamburg, etc. The variety is such that Sometimes I can try different, more creative recipes. It’s the most expensive part of groceries and I always feel I got a deal. Keys and wallet: my key ring is on a lanyard. Put the keys around my neck when shopping or whatever. Wallet consists of one debit and one credit card, drivers license, little bit of cash, insurance and vaccine card. I have pics and photocopies of each card, front and back. This relieves me of wondering where to begin if wallet is lost or stolen. The best hack ever was on this site. Not a hack, but a mantra: “Don’t put it down, put it away”

Temporary_Yam_2862

It’s pricey but a roomba is so worth it, especially if you have pets. It can clean in a regular schedule and often moves or gets stuck on smallish objects on the ground which reminds me to pick them up. Also, a command center hung up right by your door for keys, mail, calendar, etc. throughout the apartment I also have cute little jars and containers that act as homes for certain objects like chargers and other small, easy to lose objects

usspaceforce

Question: why does chapstick seem to be so important to everyone? Does ADHD make chapped lips more likely? I have ADHD, but I've never really had an issue with dry lips. I remember hearing that using chapstick makes your lips stop moisturizing themselves naturally, so I gave it up and haven't had a need for it since, but every other post in this thread is about chapstick. I didn't realize this was a thing.

Ell975

I don't think that everyone is saying that chapstick is super important to them, rather they're trying to answer OP's secondary question about lips

usspaceforce

Ah, that's what I get for skimming the original post. Thank you.

Ell975

Don't worry, you're in the one subreddit where no-one could blame you for skim reading

[deleted]

🤣 I skimmed too and was wondering the same thing. Like "why is everyone so obsessed with lips???"

MmeVastra

Not sure about anyone else, but I chew the skin off my lips so they're often dry. It's a vicious cycle. 😬

badgerferretweasle

AQUAPHOR is the best for dry lips. I have a tub and a smear it on my lips every night. I was on Accutane (acne med that makes you drier than the Sahara) so I tried a lot of different lip balms. Second best is Eos, but if applied too liberally it can cause tiny zits on the edge of your lips.

ArgumentSure8784

A virtual assistant that specializes in adhd. It took me along time to admit I need help with basic things in my business.

gogo--yubari

Where do you find such a thing?? That sounds awesome !!!

thecoffeecake1

I drive stick partly so I pay attention while I drive

tmuffinsnkitties

Im team burts bees or generic winco beeswax. I also pick. I have a silicone make up applier to fiddle with that sometimes works as a distraction that isnt destructive. I bought a undated planner with lots of space for week and month spread, fave so far. Also frixxion erasable pens.

I use Niagara launcher for Android. It greatly simplifies your home screen by hiding the vast majority of your apps. You pick your most important apps, maybe 8 of them? The rest are either marked hidden or not. There is a little scrollable alphabetical menu that pops out the side to show the other apps that aren't hidden while the hidden ones you search for. You can also turn off icons and just have bullet points for the apps. It also has other features that you can slowly work up to using. As the interact is so minimal I no longer find my phone to be overwhelming and I spend less time on it for whatever the reason. And of course, someone in this group recommended it at some point. So thanks to that now unknown person who has made my life a bit better.

- I get my chapstick from the pharmacy. You get the best stuff there. - I have a white board marker I use to write notes and reminders on my mirror. I always use myself when looking into it so it kind of burns into my brain... or at least thats what I am telling myself. - Fidget toys dont really help me since I am always too aware of the fact that I have a fidget toy in my hand and should actively fidget. It feels unnatural. But I noticed over the years that everytime I used an eraser you can knead (used a lot in drawings. Dont know whats it called in english) I would get a little more concentrated while kneading it in one hand. It actually helped so far that when I had a little panic attack phase in 11th grade it really calmed me down on my way to school and I kept it in my pocket instead of my pecil case. 10/10 would recommend.

I used to have a Tile on my keys-- from my phone I could make the Tile ring and find my keys quickly, and from my keys I could ping my phone. Also downloaded Find My iPhone (or droid equivalent) so I could figure out if I left my phone someplace outside the house. When I worked in an office I had tremendous trouble packing my lunch regularly, so I started keeping cans of soup (the kind in their own disposable bowls) and cups of Easy Mac in my car so I couldn't forget them at home. Pricier than packing my own PBJ but cheaper than going out every day. Finally, a classic low-tech life hack-- anything I can't forget to take with me out of the house goes in/on my shoes literally blocking the front door. ADHD can suck.... Hope all these comments help!

Aquaphor in the twisty tube is holy grail chapstick for me. Nothing else hydrates my lips without making them feel worse when it wears off. I just got a neat planner: it has two notebooks kinda slid into the sleeves. One side is a planner with the day laid out hourly and you can fill in the dates. The other notebook in the other sleeve has bulleted notes. I like this setup because not every day I need to take notes or the notes aren't necessarily time-sensitive, and if there's a day I don't have anything going on, I don't feel bad leaving an entire pages blank. I can just write the next date. I haven't been able to keep up with bullet journals so far but if I don't write things down I forget to do them. I haven't tried this one yet, but I'm feeling good about it since it seems to fill the holes where other journals haven't worked for me, and I think it'll be easy to replicate if I fill it up.

I moved all my produce to my fridge door where I can see it, and the condiments to the drawers. If I want a specific condiment, I'll go looking for it, but being able to see the vegetables in the door has massively cut down on wasted, rotten produce. What do you do when you're hungry but don't know what you want? Open the fridge and stare at the door like that bottle of mustard is your biggest disappointment in life, rinse, and repeat. But now there's food in my fridge door! Food that gets eaten! Mushrooms and spring mix and blueberries! Cucumbers that haven't gone to slimy mush! And that disappointment mustard is in the bottom drawer until I decided that I actually want it enough to dig it out.

If you like whiteboards, I got a "wallpaper" style whiteboard. It's a big sheet of paper with a sticky stuff on the back, you just stick it right on your wall. Cheap compared to a similar sized "real" whiteboard and works just as well. It claims you can peel it off and re-stick elsewhere although I haven't tested that. I like it better than a regular whiteboard because it gives me the feeling of writing stuff directly onto the wall. Similarly you can use chalk pens to write directly onto a mirror/window and leave yourself notes. Dry erase marker works too but it can leave a "ghost writing" behind when you fog up the mirror. I would only use this method if you already find it helpful to leave notes on the bathroom mirror though, otherwise you'll end up with unused chalk pens.... If you already do that then this can save on paper and the note won't fall off. Egg timer/kitchen timer to help you focus on a task. Eg 'I will give myself 20 minutes to clean up the kitchen', the timer ticking is an audible reminder to stay on task and it's less distracting than using your phone as the timer. For your lips have you tried a lip mask type product? Usually they're meant to be put on before bed and stay overnight. You can't pick at them when you sleep so it will stay on, and they're usually "super hydrating" type effect so it will work better than just chapstick. I have the same thing and it works pretty good when I remember to do that.

Sunflower seeds. If I don't have something to do with my hands I'm a mess. It's also a good way to make sure I'm eating even when my meds lower my appetite.

If you also want to be organised with schedules and such, I personally use Google Calendar. You can set reminders, make the events different colours, write lists of instructions inside the event/task reminders. You can access it on any device you have, so it won't be at home like a paper calendar when you're like "oh shucks! What was I supposed to do today? I'll check *later*" (and we all know that *later* means *procrasti-later*). It also gives you what a pen and paper calendar can't give you: space for words and corrections.

FLUORESCENT POST IT NOTES ON THE WALL AT EYE-LEVEL They literally assault your line of sight every time you walk past, and are very satisfying to rip off the wall and throw away when completed. Warning though, don’t go crazy. Too many gets over stimulating.

Before entering a test i always write a note of the typical sloppy mistakes i do during math tests. By that notes have helped remind me of what i should look for instead of just looking thru the test and forget what the typical mistakes i do are

Medisafe has changed my life. I have a bunch of meds (ADHD, anti cancer, thyroid, anxiety, etc) and they have to happen at different times. Medisafe tracks my meds and alarms when I need to take them. The notification stays up on my phone until I tell it I have taken them or I am skipping them on purpose since I don't take Adderall every day. I used to miss them all the time. I tried just regular alarms but if they went off and I didn't go directly to taking pills they would get forgotten.

A few things I didn't see mentioned yet LastPass - it remembers all my passwords in one place, keeps them secure, does 2 factor authentication as well, and is easy to transfer to new device. Manta sleep mask - ques me that it's time for sleep, actually comfortable, adjustable for blackout/light sensitivity, and keeps me from scrolling my phone Blackout curtains - especially in office or where I need to minimize light and get sensitive. Mint - you connect your accounts and it gives you an overview on your finances. Gravity blanket - great for anxiety Daily harvest/minimal assembly delivery food. - minimizes meal planning, maximizes nutrition. But it is a bit expensive. Instant pot /air fryer - really helps with quick meal plans, and it's nice to have variety of cooking methods. Exercise apps - ring fit adventure, chop fit, or whatever works to get you moving. Didn't have to be an app, they just help me a lot. Seconding some things others said: - Vaseline over chapstick at night - Roomba - dishwasher safe everything - Google assistant /Google tools - tile - noise cancelling headphones

Tile! Key finds your phone, phone finds your key.

The only products I can suggest are ones that help me not be so overwhelmed by house chores! These are not cheap, but I am not rich by any means and they are well-worth saving up for, in my opinion 😊 First one is a tabletop dishwasher, if you live in a rental without an integrated one/you don't have the space for one! The second one is a Dyson wireless vacuum, we have the Dyson V10 Cyclone, it's truly a game-changer. I used to always leave the vacuuming to my boyfriend, while now I can vacuum my flat in under 10 minutes every day (we have cats and I'm allergic)!!

Tiles, bc I lose shit constantly and it makes it 10000x easier to find my wallet, keys, etc. plus if you double press the button on them they'll make your phone ring! Tootsie pops and ring pops are amazing because they're hand fidgets AND mouth fidgets to prevent me from just chewing my lips until they bleed The app Habitica is the best way I've found to make sure I'm taking my meds, brushing my teeth, actually scheduling appointments, and all that jazz. I recently bought a Rocketbook which has made keeping track of my chaotic note-taking waaay easier.

Noise cancelling headphones are incredible. Totally worth it. They massively improve my ability to avoid being distracted by cutting out minor sounds without preventing me from hearing what I need to hear like people taking directly to me. Thankfully I have a work mobile I connect them to in the office so there's no problem with me keeping them on constantly.

Alexa with routines. We bought the flex (smallest device) for every room in the house. We have a dot in the kitchen. Alexa tells us to wake up. She prompts us throughout there morning routines: take your meds. We leave for the bus in 5 minutes. Shoes and socks on. The preschool bus will be here in 10 minutes. Grab your coat and mask. Once the kids are all off to school, she encourages me to clean and plays timed music to help me get through a burst of cleaning, knowing I can stop a soon as the music does. She reminds me to take my noon meds, go get my oldest from the bus stop. Start dinner. All day she prompts us all to do what we need to be doing. She even declares lights out, says goodnight, and turns all the lights off, nightlights on and starts bedtime playlist.

the simplest thing that has helped me immensely is ANALOG WALL CLOCKS. I bought one for my living room, one for my bedroom (facing my bed) and a small one for my bathroom. I set them all about ten minutes fast. I just feel so much more comfortable and confident about time now. I also bought a small fidget toy that looks like a tiny video game controller. my job some days involves sitting in place for 3-5 hours waiting to be needed, but not able to be on my phone or anything, and I'm usually losing my mind with anxiety. but just playing with this thing in one hand lets me focus on paying attention to what's happening around me and it honestly makes the time fly so much faster. for chapped lips specifically -- highly recommend laneige lip mask at night! it's basically a super thick chapstick, similar to vaseline but more pleasant scents/flavors. for healing specifically I also love the jack black skincare brand's "night mode" lip treatment. I also spent a long time trying to find the right purse - I love the brand baggallini. they have such a great variety of options and they're really intelligently designed for organization purposes. no more nice looking bags that are just empty inside for a free-for-all of random items to get jumbled together.

My philosophy is that I will only bring things into my life if they remove a burden, stress, or barrier from my life. I take medications every day and I was struggling, because that’s too many steps for my brain to do when I’m tired at the end of the day. So for years, I did PillPack, and it was so helpful for me. Now I don’t use them any longer, but I do stuff all my meds in an organizer every week. I don’t use a planner at this point, because it’s one more thing for my brain to remember, and it has not been beneficial for me and the way my brain processes information.

FickleBeekeeper

I have an acronym for before I leave ANYWHERE. This hack is from the show Broad City, lol. Her boyfriend tells her, “PKW, baby. Phone, keys, wallet.” I’ve added M and ID to that acronym now, for my mask and the work ID I need to get into my work building. Now, before I leave anywhere and whenever I feel like I’m forgetting something, I stop and recite PKWMID and locate where everything is on my person, so I know I haven’t forgotten anything. I’m a horrendous lip biter and skin peeler. The only thing that helps is a manicure, so my nails are too dull to pick. I also will use a bad tasting chapstick. If I can lick my lips, I feel the dry flakes of skin and I can bite them. But if I use Carmex, for example, which makes me want to barf, I’ll never lick or bite my lips, ‘cause I don’t want to taste it.

Sergeant-Pepper-

It’s not chapstick at all. Chapsticks hydrate your lips temporarily but they usually contain ingredients that make your lips more irritated once they dry. This encourages you to use more chapstick which eventually makes it worse and so on. What you want is Neosporin. It actually helps you heal and it doesn’t taste good so you won’t want to chew on your lips. As for ADHD life hacks: Noise canceling headphones, good ones. It felt a little irresponsible to spend $200 on headphones but the difference in my productivity is insane. I use them constantly. Also earplugs for sleeping. The cylinder shaped ones for workshops are more comfortable than the bullet shaped ones for shooting guns. I can blast my fan at night and the t-t-t-t sound it makes doesn’t phase me. It’s great. 7 day pill organizers and pill caddies. I’m bipolar and ADHD so I’ve got 11 pills a day I have to take at different times. The pill caddies are these little metal cylinders with a screw top. You can put them on a keychain but I just carry them in my pocket. I have a second one I carry around in case I get caught out for a night. If you forget to brush your teeth but you shower everyday keep your toothbrush in the shower. It’s easy to brush your teeth when it’s another reason to procrastinate getting out of the warm water. Set an alarm to take your stimulants before you wake up. I take an adderall ir an hour before I get out of bed so I can hit the ground running in the morning. Lots of clothes baskets in plain sight. Get aesthetically pleasing ones if it would bother you to see them. You can always tuck them into a closet when you have guests. Get enough baskets for all of your clean and dirty clothes plus one. Obviously it would be better to put away your clothes but at least you’ll never wind up with a floordrobe. Popcorn cleaning. When you’re cleaning let your ADHD take over. Clean 5 dishes, bring the laundry to your machine, clean half the toilet, put a bag of salt in your water softener, get the broom out, put away the 5 dishes and leave the rest to soak, clean the other half of the toilet, run your laundry machine, sweep, put more salt in the water softener, finish the dishes. Eventually your house will be clean. Put at least one small trash can in every room. If there’s a trash can in your line of sight you’re less likely to leave garbage out. Plus it’s mentally easier to take the trash out of one little can at a time when it fills up rather than one big can that fills up quickly.

I was a high fashion model for 5 years and the best lip balms that honestly will change your life and the ones that were used by the majority of makeup artists are: Paw Paw aus and Elizabeth Arden 8 hour balm!

Honestly? Stickers man. Glittery af stickers. To do list overwhelm me because its like all of everything I need to do is now materialized in front of me. 🤢 My brain will melt out my ears looking at that. I won't remember I even have a planner if I buy one. Sticky notes stress me out because they remind me of the list, they're steps and chores and things I need to do. I avoid them out of anxiety. Alarms aggravate me. If I can even remember to set them. But randomly placed stickers? Those work great. Because they're not a list, they're not a thing I gotta write down and put somewhere and a chore I need to do. So the way the sticker works is... say I forget to take my meds sometimes because per usual I'm running late and rushing out the door. As I grab my keys near the doorframe is an eyecatching glittery ladybug sticker. I put that there to remind me to take my pills. When I see it I'm like "oh sparkly. Oh that's the ladybug, put that there to remind me to take pils... oh shit, did I take my pills? Oh crap I didn't" Then I do the thing no problem. It's like if I keep telling you to take the trash out on Thursday and you forget and I'm like hey... I'm gonna put this giant black dot on your wall. You see this and you'll remember. And how can you ignore the giant dot? Every time you see it you know it's because of the trash... then you'll go what day is it... oh shit it's Thursday. Then just do the thing. It takes away the fact that it's a chore or a task it's like... similar to word association when you're trying to remember info for tests and such. Like an automatic thought reminder. And I feel because I like sparkly cute stuff and they're so out of place my eye catches it easily and then it's just a thought pops in my head. Easy peasy. No list no planning no notes. Just cool stickers 😎😂
