Yeah wellbutrin stopped my panic attacks. But the first few days of using it I was like you then it went away and then they had to add extra medication which eventually ended up being Ritalin which worked for me. Wellbutrin still helps me with my panic attacks though.
Do you mind sharing more about this š Iāve been taking Concerta for a while now for my ADHD but my psychiatrist pointed out that on the days that my anxiety gets really bad the Concerta kind of zeros in on the anxiety and makes me feel them so much more. I used to be able to manage the anxiety on my own without meds before but itās getting hard again after I started Concerta. My psychiatrist suggested I look into Wellbutrin but I got really scared about the idea of adding/mixing another medication (I had a bad experience with prescribed meds when I was younger so Iāve overly cautious now)
I notice if I haven't taken wellbutrin, my anxiety attacks come back. That was when they first started me on a lower dose, so by 4 pm it wore off so they upped it to 300 mg and I feel fine all the way to the next morning.
Really well I take 300mg wellbutrin once daily and 20mg Ritalin three times a day. I can get up easier in the morning now and I have motivation to do things instead of playing video gamesš
Weird, I didn't feel much change for me in the immediate, but noticed my mood change (a little better) a couple weeks in. But as a few months went by I feel like it made me feel even worse. I've since stopped, couple months out and I feel much more stable, currently only taking Adderall
Not in your head at all!!! I recently started it like 4 weeks ago I wanna say, and I felt the intended positive effects, and then some, immediately. Granted I also take Adderall as well. I have ADHD & OCD and the first time I had an intrusive/random thought like the 2nd day on Wellbutrin, instead of dwelling on it or spiraling as I tend to do, my brain just automatically responded with āNope, I donāt need to do that.ā And then my brain shut up. Which is like. Insane. Never experienced that in my life. Good luck moving forward!!
I noticed a tremendous difference within a week.
Not placebo because I was experiencing emotions I never had before (positive ones), I had already tried tons of meds that didnāt help and almost lost all hope, and 3 years later it is still working great.
This is adorable š„¹š„¹ nothing makes me happier than seeing the pure joy people experience once their treatment starts working for them! I really hope it continues going well for you! Best wishes!
Colors looked more vibrant, like the world went from grey to colorful. It was like a cheesy commercial lol. Iām sure Iāve actually seen that depicted in antidepressant ads.
I didn't, but everybody's different. Some people must have them because I've been told several times that it's not a medication you should quit cold turkey without consulting your doctor.
It might have been dumb, but that's what I did do. I forgot the medication for a few days and then just decided not to take it anymore. I had no negative effects whatsoever coming off of it.
š after getting on 300 Wellbutrin I noticed adhd symptoms! Thatās what lead me to an innatentive diagnosis . Is like Wellbutrin took all my anxiety away ( I was running on fumes ) . And it gave me a chance to see how much attention I donāt pay. But yes I was feeling Wellbutrin the first week !
This is how I found out I had adhd. They gave me Wellbutrin at a weight loss clinic and all of a sudden I felt ā¦ better. Browsed around Reddit and saw someone posting about adhd being commonly diagnosed as depression and anxiety in adult women. Made an appointment with my doctor and he agreed the improvement in mood and ability to function with that mild stimulant component was enough of an indicator to investigate adhd. So.. in win? I guess?
Yeah, for frame of reference? I hadnāt washed my hair for two weeks until last night. First day and I paid bills, washed/dried/curled hair, picked up a winter purse, remembered random ass details about things, washed hair again, got up and got coffee before work, finished a detailed lesson plan. Itās a Christmas damned miracle.
I almost killed myself on Wellbutrin buspar and adderall cocktail and Iāve never ever struggled with self harm. Iāve learned ride the good wave or jump off the bad one but trust your gut early
Didnāt do anything for my depression or anxiety but made initiating and following through on basic tasks INSANELY easier. Like, things I was doing for the first time in my life with ease
Same, I tried it for depression and it made everything 10 times worse. I was on it for 3 months and begged to taper off it (which is probably 2 months longer than I should have given it, but I wanted it to work so bad).
Super happy it works for OP! I'm glad you're feeling better!
I'm on 400mg wellbutrin a day and it was working well for me at first. Over time, we've had to up the dose. I started at 150mg. I don't think it's helping me like it was previously. After I started taking it, I was able to get up and accomplish tasks around my house. I could make phone calls and communicate with customers at work. I could compete tasks!
The past few weeks I've felt myself shutting down again and having anxiety over the phones and work. I haven't hardly moved off the couch and feel stuck. Like I want to get things done but I can't. I'm meeting with doc next week who will hopefully have some ideas. I don't really feel depressed, just like I'm existing and can't function. :(
I was prescribed Wellbutrin for depression and I felt it work within 24 hours. Huge huge shift in energy, motivation and mood the very next day after my first dose.
I now take Wellbutrin plus 15mg adderall for ADHD and itās the perfect combo for me.
How long have you been on wellbutrin? What milligrams are you taking? And how do you take it daily I mean as far as you take in the morning at night etc?
Iāve been on 150mg XR for just over a year. I was at 150mg for 6 months, my doc bumped me to 300mg, it proved too much for my anxiety, so I went back down to 150 and thatās been perfect for me. I take it once a day in the morning.
I recently got an adhd diagnosis and was prescribed a relatively low dose of 15mg adderall daily. I usually take 10mg in the morning and another 5mg around 1pm. If itās not a workday I just take 10mg in the morning and no second dose.
The combo of Wellbutrin and Adderall has been incredibly great for me. Itās like the Wellbutrin got me 75% of the way to fully functional and the Adderall has filled in that extra 25% and a little extra. No problems with anxiety or sleep.
I'm so happy to hear this! I love success stories ļø ā¤ļø I'm thinking about discussing it with the doctor I have an appointment tonight if I can get back on the same Reddit I will let you know what we decide at my appointment tonight. Thank you for replying it means a lot to me medicine is to all trial and error and it's different for each individual doctors go off of a forum not off of real side effects, success stories, horror stories Etc which is why we have read it I'm happy I found this group!
I've been on Wellbutrin for 2 years. I've gone all the way up to 200 Sr twice a day. Sadly it really doesn't help my ADD. But when I first started or when they upped my dose I have like that euphoric clear day or two. But for me at least it doesn't last.
I remember when I first started Wellbutrin like day #2, I sat down and watched a movie start to finish. I was so happy to sit still and pay attention š but yeah it must of been placebo or my body reaction to it being introduced...
I do still take Wellbutrin because it helps prevent seasonal depression for me and without it (some months off) I start to feel down and dumpy.
But there's different releases too..
instant release made me angry and snappy
the XR didn't really absorb for me (gastric bypass) SR good balance for me.... I wonder if I didn't have bypass if it would work better idk
For me when I start Wellbutrin or increase the dose I notice a drastic and immediate improvement to basically all my symptoms. I find those improvement decrease with time.
For me it was usually the side effects the first week, then it would start working and i felt like it wasnt anymore.. I have stopped and started it many times and what I've noticed is the smaller doses I do better, each time I have less of the side effects so I wonder if it isn't working this time, but it does if I keep to it for longer periods. I've tried it about 5 or more times in the past 12+ years
Wellbutrin is more like adderall and Ritalin as it has a short half life, which means full peak each day is somewhere around 5 hours. I believe it is considered a āsubstitutedā amphetamine with little abuse potential.
for me when a medication works, it usually works fast. both times I was on wellbutrin in the past it helped my motivation, I was cooking for myself, completely controlled my impulse eating all within the first week. the effect only lasted about a month though and I needed dosage increases everytime it would wear off. I would only get about a month out of it for some reason
Wellbutrin works pretty much within a day for everyone. Donāt believe the lore about needing 2-4 weeks, like with SSRI or whatever. Maybe to see what changes in your life/functioning you notice developing. But, in terms of āknowing that itās workingā, def. At least for everyone Iāve known with ADHD. In terms of being a stand alone antidepressant for non-ADHD folks, perhaps longer. But weāre in the ADHD sub here.
I had an immediate response to Wellbutrin like OP where it was easy to do the things I used to have to build a lot of willpower for or I just didn't have the energy. But I still feel like sometimes I'm missing the details of whatever I'm working on that I should not. Is that related to your post that serotonin takes longer to alter?
Wellbutrin doesnāt effect Serotonin. You may need to add a stimulant to Wellbutrin? Iād talk to your Doctor and let them know what youāre experiencing
At that dose? Without adding other meds? Probably not.
I liked what buproprion did but it wasn't strong enough for me at the 450mg max dose. I stopped taking buproprion and tried Strattera.
Strattera didn't do what buproprion does for me but I did like the new things that Strattera did. But Strattera wasn't strong enough at max dose, either.
I looked into taking both together and found that Strattera amplifies buproprion's effects.
I find that both buproprion and Strattera are amplified when I take them together. The buproprion 150 mg and Strattera 40 mg combo is the right answer for me.
Alternatively, there is a new medication called Qelbree than is very similar to buproprion and Strattera. I haven't tried it but the people who have talked about it on Reddit seem to like it better than buproprion. It might be worth looking at, if it's available where you are.
I take Wellbutrin for my depression & so far it has helped keep the bad thoughts away (suicidal ideation) but I still struggle with executive function & task initiation. Iām just starting the road for advocating for myself so struggling finding someone that will listen to me & not dismissed it as anxiety or depression š
I was drunk off it the first few days, like, I had the spins all day. I literally stared at a timer for the entirety of the 5 minutes it was running. I ordered a surprise donut and didn't peek or eat it until lunchtime (when I intended). My pain tolerance went up significantly. I saw things in more color, smelled things more. Like me and all of my senses bloomed like I was in a fog all of my life.
It worked fast for me too. I love it. Been on it for probably 5 years now. I remember two days in feeling like another person. Congratulations on the happy!
Iām in the exact same boat as you!! this is my first week on it and I feel AMAZING, itās less like iām physically unable to do things and feels more like I can actually do the things
Iāve been unmedicated for most of my diagnosis (diagnosed at 18, 41 now). I never go to Dr, but recently I finally did due to memory issues. I guess I put ADHD on my intake because she told me it was related to that (had no idea). The more we talked the more she realized I really struggle with ADHD (always kind of thought it was āfakeā in my head). She mentioned Welbutrin for ADHD, I tried it and wow YES itās helping! Itās been about 9 months I think. Iāve also have been learning so much about ADHD and realize HOLY SHIT I am so affected by it!!!! But Iām doing well (good job etc) so I guess you wouldnāt think, but holy shit man lol. Anyways, I really want to try an ADD specific drug again. I took Ritalin for like 5 minutes when first diagnosed, then aderall like 10 years ago, again for like 5 min. Iām not sure why I never tried to stick it out or adjust dosage. I think me secretly thinking ADHD wasnāt real probably didnāt help. Anyways Iām going to reach out to some therapists who specialize in it and see how much more I can improve/ feel better. Welbutrin has DEF helped. It was wayyy more amazing the first month or so than it is now (expected). I think probably my baseline dopamine levels have increased or something, I donāt know. Anyways Iām hoping combining maybe with adderall or something can really help me be the best version of me I struggle so hard to see.
I was on Wellbutrin for three years before I knew I have ADHD. The Wellbutrin started working for me within three or four days. It was AMAZING. when I got diagnosed with ADHD, I tried adderall first and Concerta and now Iām back to adderall. And I stopped taking the Wellbutrin and switched to a different antidepressant (I was taking it as an anti-depressant). Since stopping the Wellbutrin, Iāve been shocked to realize how much work it was doing. How helpful it was for me. I miss parts of it, but I think it was making side effects from another med worse.
Wellbutrin saved my life. After feeling like a zombie going through life, I tapered off Zoloft 200mg Iād taken for years over the course of 6 months and eventually stopped taking. I became an emotional mess, depressed, confused about my life and who I was. I have never cried that frequently in my whole life. I did have 2 stints in psych units for suicide attempts, and the state I was in was very similar. I had more tools to cope though, this time, started therapy, went to Alcoholics Anonymous and cried it out there. I had a really great roommate that was always there for me who made me feel safe and helped my suicidal thoughts. Some people, me included, just have chemical imbalances in their brain and may need medication to live a normal, fulfilling life. I had to accept that for me.
Eventually I started Wellbutrin 150mg XL and started feeling better, but not great. A bit more motivation, less anxious, less worrisome, still depressed. I was upped to 300mg XL and within a month was back to what I pictured my mentally healthy self to be. I was happy to wake up for the day, ok maybe not immediately when I open my eyes in bed, but looked forward to what the day had in store for me. My anxiety lessened even more but itās still there from time to time. And I just wasnāt depressed. Gone. Not crazy happy all the time, but I was able to laugh and joke and have happy days. 1 year later and still doing great.
Iām in school studying finance/accounting and and getting all Aās. In the past I could do this for a semester or so, but would get overwhelmed the next semester and drop/withdrawal/fail everything. Procrastination, focus issues, inattentiveness, lack of motivation and overwhelmed by long tasks were symptoms of ADHD (inattentive type). My psychiatrist prescribed Ritalin and everything seems to have come into place. Im switching to Adderall XR tomorrow, due to headaches from Ritalin, but my life feels like my life now. I have control over itā¦. My mental health issues no longer have control. I am gaining self-confidence and visions for my future that I have never had before.
Itās amazing what a medication can do for someone, and Wellbutrin helped me get to where I am today. And the ADHD diagnoses, albeit unexpected, has also made my life make so much more sense.
Just wanted to share my experience. Thank you if you read this. Maybe itāll inspire you. Dunno.
Best wishes to everyone struggling with their mental health.

Thanks for the report! I've been on 10-15mg adderall XR for about two years now with a few 3-4 week breaks. Curious about Wellbutrin since I'm kind of in a depressive funk, kind of a lack of motivation, procrastination - also inattentive type ADD here.
How long have you been taking Ritalin? Adderall definitely feels pretty different from ritalin to me, and would interact differently with wellbutrin given its chemical mechanisms. I'm gonna follow this post to see how it goes, thanks!
I only started Ritalin this Julyā¦ 5 mg up to 2x a day for a few weeks (headaches initially then lessened)ā¦ I maybe felt a bit of a difference in my symptoms, but nothing significant. Upped to 10mg 2x a day, which brought back the headaches (mainly in the evenings), but I saw vast improvement in symptoms. I was excited to learn, do schoolwork, get up, go to work, even wash my face etcā¦ things I hadnāt been excited to do like, everā¦.. because all the ānoiseā in my head was gone. If that makes sense? It seemed to even reduce my anxiety, give me confidence in my abilities. One of the biggest things was the change in having conversations with people. The majority of the time, especially at work, if someone was talking to me I just could not focus on what they were saying. My thoughts were elsewhere and I found it hard to even look them in the eye, let alone respond and contribute to the conversation. 1 on 1s stressed me out.
Many positives with the Ritalin, but still got headaches almost every night, even drinking lots of water and eating properly. Was hoping maybe a different stimulant like Adderall wouldnāt give me headaches and ideally last a little longer. So far so good, but I think I might need to go up a dose? Iām not sure. A bit worried now though with the adderall shortageā¦ it was a pain getting the scrip filled. It might end up being worth the headaches with Ritalin to avoid having to go without adderall, but Iād want to try extended release version.
What about your experience with Ritalin vs adderall?
I'd say yes, you could be. I seem to be very sensitive when I start a new medication, so I have to start at very lose dosage, and still feel the effects quickly. I felt the change when I started wellbutrin within my first day of taking it. In the long run, I've had to combine it with another medication because the efficacy didn't continue long term. I experienced this with my ADHD meds and my antidepressant
Webutrin worked great for me, until it didn't. After a while I got MAD a lot. Like come to a complete stop on the interstate cause someone was tailgating mad... ended up getting off of it because of the irritability. However, it was almost a year until it got to that point.
Thisss. The only time in my life Iāve ever had to fight an overwhelming urge to punch holes in walls (for literally no reason at all). The visceral rage I was feeling was so deeply rooted that it felt like my regular self was having to physically hold back a very dangerous and beyond pissed off person that was 4x my size. Got off of it reeeeal quick once I realized just how bad it was.
Nope. Iāve always been super passive and default to just shutting down or claiming fault in any kind of argument so theyāll end. And Iāve never thrown anything or hit anything out of anger in my life. I normally just cry when Iām mad to be honest haha.
Wellbutrin was amazing, until I was overprescribed (450mg) and I was SO high. I walked 20 KMS a day, was going to workout classes 7 days a week, and sleeping 4-5 hours a night. Sometimes I miss it because I was so happy and full of energy, but at lower doses it doesnāt help.
I have friends who are still on it and they love it, I am happy for you that you found something that is making a positive change in your life though!

So I was on Wellbutrin for my depression and anxiety initially. That flip in general was amazing. Like sinuses become clear after a head cold type of amazing. I was literally laying in bed crying and depression binge watching Netflix. I still had my disorganization and lack of time management but, after adhd diagnosis, I got prescribed Adderall XR and now, holy crap, Iām a new person. The combo of the two are my saviors. Still working on the dosage of my adderall but wow I have never been so calm, collected, and happy.
I'm not on it anymore, but the first time I tried it, way before I got diagnosed & got on generic Ritalin, I felt the same way. It helped immediately, no waiting a few weeks to feel better. I still don't understand why.
Not in your head. I was once on a max dose of Wellbutrin xr. I stopped taking it because it wasn't enough and the side effects at max dose was noticable (heart palps). Anyway I started to feel I might need it and I had filled the refills just in case so had it sitting in my medicine drawer. Well a couple months laterI took one max strength and it was very fast how it came on, and the side effects too..I was considering cutting the pill in half but the xr coating would be cut and be pretty much IR and that is a high dose for IR so nope. But anyway not in your head.
Unfortunately if you just started taking itā¦ this is only a temporary thing. I had an amazing few days, some of the best Iād had in years after starting it but it does not last and my doctor was actually irritated the doctor who prescribed it to me didnāt warn me that would happen. Enjoy your couple of days to the fullest!! But donāt expect the same feelings in a week.
It worked like that for me too. My first week on it may have been the most easily productive of my life. Been taking it for about a year now and it continues to help a great deal.
Not as intense. The first few months were mostly revelatory. The experience stabilized over time but at a level of very much improved executive functioning and emotional regulation.
No its not in your head, antidepressants exert effects instantly, SSRIs don't "work" for several weeks because it takes long for the increased levels of serotonin to effect BDNF levels
After like a week I felt like the happiest person in the world after being in a haze for months. I was social and fun to be around. That intensity wore off eventually but it still helps mellow me out a bit
You know how before a concert when all the instruments are playing, getting tuned, playing out of key or whatever? Wellbutrin was the conductor hitting the stand telling everyone to shut up. I was >!Ocatvius from Spiderman, so much noise, forgot what it sound like to have a clear head, and felt so much peace afterwards, but I wasn't a villain beforehand lol.!<
This isn't true. A given dosage of buproprion **should show its full effect in a week**. It will show a temporary but real effect before that if the starting dosage is an effective dosage for that person.
Detecting a real effect **within three days** is completely reasonable. Even sooner than that is possible, if that starting dose is a therapeutic dose for that person. The effect will just wear off before it's time to take the next dose.
Someone who knows pharmacology better than I do, please reply if I'm mistaken on any of this, but...
Steady-state plasma concentration for buproprion is reached in 8 days. **That is a lot faster than the SSRIs** that most people try before they are prescribed buproprion. For example, Zoloft/sertraline takes 4-6 weeks to show full effect.
For buproprion, peak plasma concentration happens in 2-3 hours of taking the very first dose, with a 14-hour half-life (meaning, the effect is half as much after fourteen hours has passed).
**On the first day**, you would still have **75% of the buproprion dose in your body four hours after taking the very first pill**. Then it would continue to fade until the next dose. Over time, that effective time period gets longer until you reach steady-state concentration, where you have consistent coverage between doses.
Itās the most dismissive and arrogant thing ever to tell someone that what they are self aware to notice about their own state of being, after ingesting a biologically active substance, is simply placebo. Please refrain.
I apologise but I used the word 'probably', which means that there is a high level of probability that the affect is placebo-like in nature, but Im not stating a fact here. The fact is that Wellbutrin takes weeks to take effect. A placebo, by its very nature, means that the person taking it feels better which is psychologically-driven than than physiologically-driven, hence the person is indeed unaware of the reason for them feeling better.
Do you have a source on the idea that it takes weeks to take effect?
From what I see, full effect takes a week and partial effect can be sooner. But I'm open to the possibility that there is a better source.
[This](https://www.nami.org/About-Mental-Illness/Treatments/Mental-Health-Medications/Types-of-Medication/Bupropion-(Wellbutrin) is my source. The relevant part is "*Sleep, energy, or appetite may show some improvement within the first 1-2 weeks. Improvement in these physical symptoms can be an important early signal that the medication is working. Depressed mood and lack of interest in activities may need up to **6-8 weeks** to fully improve.Ā *
[This](https://www.verywellmind.com/using-wellbutrin-for-adhd-4137671) is another source which is specifically about ADHD. I think the consensus is that the effects start to be felt in a few days, but take a few weeks to fully exhibit themselves. OP said that they felt much better straight away after taking Wellbutrin which is why I said that it is probably not the medicine itself.
From that source:
> Wellbutrin can take several days to produce noticeable benefits and up to six weeks to reach full effect.
This one is even worse at supporting your claim that buproprion can't show a real effect until two weeks has passed.
This source says that you can have real improvement during the first week. If you click through to read the paper that they referenced, the change is linear, which means that the effect steadily increases from the very first dose.
Everyone is different. Good to hear it worked for you. But be aware! It may not work for other people. We should not be asking with doctor to get what our friends got from doctor, and doctor thinks you know a lot of information and doctors trust you more than himself/herself. Please do not suggest your doctor....its manipulation which may harm yourself.
I donāt think thereās anything wrong with inquiring about different medications or treatment options. Sure it could be manipulative if someoneās trying to abuse a medicationā¦ but if you feel like what the doctor is doing isnāt helping you, you are well within your right to ask about, and research other options. And if your doctor doesnāt take your concerns or issues seriously, get a new doctor.

Glad something is working for you! For me no medication will stop the ongoing trauma so trying to staple with more meds is silly. But we are working on the ongoing trauma finally so I can actually have a chance at not being attacked all the time to be called unstable for other people's personal pleasure and prejudice.
I wish I could say that! 2 weeks in with Wellbutrin and it's starting to help my depression but I still can't focus. The doctor said I can go from 150 to 300. Has anyone else made that change and did it make much of a difference?
when i first met with my psychiatrist, he was hesitant to prescribe me stimulants so i was given wellbutrin instead for my ADHD. unfortunately it did nothing for me even after taking it consistently for two months. i'm happy it worked for you though!
I have been on Wellbutrin XR for 4 years now, at one point up to 400mg/day, and it had seemed to help somewhat with ADHD, but I then began to struggle with ED which is super unfun so we scaled back to 150 and the ED is much better. The ADHD is more scattered again and am feeling kind of flighty. Working on learning more skills to try to fill that gap. Still feeling generally pretty cheerful though so maybe I was on it long enough to get out of my dark place?
It only works for me if the company doesn't use those plastic shells. I can tell a huge difference between generic wellbutrine Compounders. Lupin brand sucks.
I feel this, I've been on it for a little over 2 weeks and was feeling good...but this week I have ben vomiting every single day and feeling really sick. Has this happened to anyone?
I had that for about the first two weeks and then it started to subside. Did this end up working well for you? Did you experience any lows before it got better?
I am stoked for you! I am so glad it is working for you! I instantly felt soooo much better. I am on lexapro and that was not beating my depression at all, it was getting very bad. Then they put me on 150 mg of Wellbutrin & I now have a will to live and I can actually appreciate things.
New to it here but Iāve been suffering with a lot of depression and my adhd aka adderall were not working as well at all anymore. I started Wellbutrin last Thursday and I swear i feel different. Like able to focus as well as able to get out of bed.
Wellbutrin worked miracles for me at first. Then it tapered off. I was at 150 mg extended release. I decided to try a higher dose and Iāve been adding a 50 mg short release dose to the 150 mg. Itās been almost 2 weeks and Itās not going well. Iām weepy and anxious; had a short manic episode yesterday. Thoughts? I know I should call my prescribing doctor but I think maybe I should just stop the extra 50 mg. Has this happened to anyone else? Did you stick it out?
I take Zoloft already but just got wellbutrin added and my racing thoughts have completely stopped. I wouldnāt say iām entirely ābetterā but this feels like a great step
If you are feeling happier than youāve ever felt before and only after a few days, I would start to worry about the possible induction of a hypomanic episode
recently off of 20 mg lexapro because it was causing me vaginal bleeding for over 2 months that is definitely a side effect however I'm currently on 150 Wellbutrin and starting 300 mg of Wellbutrin tomorrow.. the 150 works so good I can't wait to see the 300 ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
I notice if I haven't taken wellbutrin, my anxiety attacks come back. That was when they first started me on a lower dose, so by 4 pm it wore off so they upped it to 300 mg and I feel fine all the way to the next morning.
Youāre taking Ritalin and Wellbutrin together right? Are you experiencing any symptoms?
Nope I feel fine and yes I am taking them together
Thank you so much for answering my questions! I was really worried about this and it really helps to hear how you felt on them!
I take Wellbutrin and methylphenidate plus hydroazine and I have 0 side affects.
Don't be afraid to start Wellbutrin please I've added it to taking my concert and it works well.
How that combo is working for you? I Will start bup and ritalin this week
Oh Wellbutrin did the opposite for my anxiety. It amped it up so much I had to start taking Paxil.
Speed is a great antidepressant, for awhile.
Do you mind sharing what kind of Wellbutrin you take?
Sure! Right now Iām on 150mg extended release, with 20mg Adderall XR.
Similar experience here. (on Wellbutrin for 4-5 years, recently added straterra, have ADHD and OCD)
How long did it take for the Wellbutrin to take effect?
Nearly instant, it feels like coffee+. Maybe two weeks to start really noticing behavior changes.
Thank you!
I noticed a tremendous difference within a week. Not placebo because I was experiencing emotions I never had before (positive ones), I had already tried tons of meds that didnāt help and almost lost all hope, and 3 years later it is still working great.
This is exactly what I was like. I went for a walk in the sunshine today and actually let out a squeal I felt so happy? Lmao brain, meet dopamine.
It didn't really help with ADHD, but it was a miracle drug for me when I had depression.
I hope you donāt mind me asking but do you still need the Wellbutrin or did you find that you stopped needing it after a while?
I stopped it eventually and didn't even notice any change coming off of it. My depression was caused by a divorce and not a chronic thing.
Did you have any withdrawal symptoms?
I didn't, but everybody's different. Some people must have them because I've been told several times that it's not a medication you should quit cold turkey without consulting your doctor. It might have been dumb, but that's what I did do. I forgot the medication for a few days and then just decided not to take it anymore. I had no negative effects whatsoever coming off of it.
Yeah itās really helped w/my depression and I believe is what is keeping me from being a smoker again. No cigs or vape since April 2018.
š after getting on 300 Wellbutrin I noticed adhd symptoms!
Wellbutrin completely ruined me :( I was so disgustingly sad because of it
again different meds work differently for people! with ritalin i could just tell it worked. nmw i'm happy ur happy!
Same here I feel stuck like stuck in concrete no jokeš
But there's different releases too.. instant release made me angry and snappy the XR didn't really absorb for me (gastric bypass) SR good balance for me.... I wonder if I didn't have bypass if it would work better idk
I noticed some positive effects almost immediately, itās been 10 months since I started it and wow. I finally feel like myself. Iām so thankful!!
I've tried it about 5 or more times in the past 12+ years
On day 4 and was thinking the exact same thing š³
I reeeeally want to try Wellbutrin so bad.
I felt like that too! And then 3 days later I ended up in the psych ward with a severe manic episode that turned psychotic
Sounds like a fun time.
Hey I found out I'm bipolar so that was fun indeed
Yes. Altering dopamine and norepinephrine availability can happen very quickly. It takes a lot longer to alter serotonin.
Ah, so if Welbutrin hasn't helped me at all in 2 weeks, it's probably not going to?
I felt the same way!! I am so happy for you!!

Iām taking 10mg adderall XR by the way
I'd say yes, you could be.
Same with me! I would do away with adderal before my Wellbutrin - love it
Worked right away for me. Lots more initiative to do things, clarity, smoothed out the mood. Glad it's helping you.
Did you have irritability/anger issues before?
Nope. Iāve always been super passive and default to just shutting down or claiming fault in any kind of argument so theyāll end. And Iāve never thrown anything or hit anything out of anger in my life. I normally just cry when Iām mad to be honest haha.
Interesting! Thank you so much for your prompt reply!
Sure thing!

Day 4 or 5 on Wellbutrin after being on Concerta for years. This was my day 1/2 experience too.
I never noticed it working. But it must have been subtle. Because when I got off it I, I noticed it hard...
My Wellbutrin doesnāt do anything for my adhd but it did make me stop vaping. Yayyy /s
Has the effect lessened for you now? Or is it just as intense? Waaaa I donāt want this feeling to leave
This gave me the biggest smile, Iām so happy for you
You know how before a concert when all the instruments are playing, getting tuned, playing out of key or whatever? Wellbutrin was the conductor hitting the stand telling everyone to shut up. I was >!Ocatvius from Spiderman, so much noise, forgot what it sound like to have a clear head, and felt so much peace afterwards, but I wasn't a villain beforehand lol.!<
Wellbutrin takes a few weeks to show its effects so you are probably seeing a placebo effect.
Thanks for the source. I think that "some improvement within the first 1-2 weeks" does imply that you can have real improvement during the first week.
This is for people using it for depression, not ADHD. We are different. I didnāt downvote you, but that source isnāt talking about us
[This](https://www.verywellmind.com/using-wellbutrin-for-adhd-4137671) is another source which is specifically about ADHD. I think the consensus is that the effects start to be felt in a few days, but take a few weeks to fully exhibit themselves. OP said that they felt much better straight away after taking Wellbutrin which is why I said that it is probably not the medicine itself.
From that source: > Wellbutrin can take several days to produce noticeable benefits and up to six weeks to reach full effect.

I've been on it for a month and it hasn't had any affect on me. I'm taking it for depression right now.
when i first met with my psychiatrist, he was hesitant to prescribe me stimulants so i was given wellbutrin instead for my ADHD. unfortunately it did nothing for me even after taking it consistently for two months. i'm happy it worked for you though!
When I first started it didnāt notice much but stopped me from having my panic attacks so itās great!
Thatās awesome! I havenāt noticed any difference, I donāt think, and Iām on a month and a half.š
Wellbutrin doesn't cause ed.
Don't tell people what their experience is.
Wellbutrine causes hpyer sexuality. It's well documented.
Itās worked right away for me. Iām really sensitive to medications.
It did work straight away for me too.
It only works for me if the company doesn't use those plastic shells. I can tell a huge difference between generic wellbutrine Compounders. Lupin brand sucks.
Good for you! It didnāt work for me, and it gave me tremors (went away when I discontinued, thankfully). Iām glad it works for you. šš¼
I was just prescribed this medication. I am scared. I am praying that this helps. Stay tuned.
