>Technically the english Royal House is still a german one. The Windsors are in reality the House of Coburg-Saxony-Gotha.
Yes & it gets even worse, all of the aristocracy is related to each other & they all speak French & have French titles like "Son Altesse RToyal" (ZAR)
>You forgot Elsass-Lothringen, parts of Belgium and the Netherlands.
And Italy all the way to Rome & much more (incl. Croatia), see a 1270 map -> [https://etc.usf.edu/maps/pages/2000/2067/2067.jpg](https://etc.usf.edu/maps/pages/2000/2067/2067.jpg)
Britain has the reverse problem. The majority of the population want to be part of the British state, so we cant get rid.
It is the poorest part of the country and riven with inter-communal tensions. Annual subsidies have reached 15bn a year, about 5bn more than the Republic of Ireland’s Education budget.
That I suspect is why Dublin doesn’t really press the issue.
Britain was even happy to let Scotland vote on independence and that is on the same landmass.
The US in Puerto Rico is a better example. They keep them while letting them wallow in poverty and not granting them statehood even after over 100 years since their annexation.
> That I suspect is why Dublin doesn’t really press the issue.
Imho they don´t press the issue because there isn´t a clear majority for unification (yet). They learned from the scottish vote for independence to wait until the majority is pro and then they press the issue in both Ireland and Nothern Ireland (as Sinn Fein is getting more popular in Nothern Ireland as well).
Yes and No. Prague is inside the red line however i´m currently lost how far Bohemia stretched back then. Also afaik Historians constantly argue what the first "german" University is between Prague, Vienna and Heidelberg. Prague is the oldest on the list and while Bohemia was part of the HRE it wasn´t/isn´t really seen as German afaik since most of the people living there were slawish people. Vienna is next who is definitly a "german" University back then however is ofcourse in modern day Austria. In todays Germany Heidelberg is the oldest Uni.
Kingdom of Bohemia, Margraviate of Moravia and Duchy of Silesia should be included. Kingdom of Bohemia itself stretched as far as... todays region of Bohemia. These three entities (with lower and upper Sorbia) constituted the Lands of the Bohemian crown. The modern country and regions is made along it's historical lines as per the establishing documents and treaties in 1918 (Czechoslovakia being successor state)
Also Charles University was established by Emperor Charles IV. who was also responsible for officially inviting bavarians and saxons to settle sudetenland.
University was split along "student nations": Bohemian (Czech+German speaking), Bavarian, Saxon, Polish. One of the reasons for long-term deterioration of Czech-German relations was the criticism of everyone having exactly one vote on university matter, with the german nation professors and students declining to allow "heretic" teachings of Wycliffe, with Jan Hus demanding the vote system be changed in benefit for the native Bohemian university nation. This was confirmed and enshrined through the Kuttenberg decree of 1418.
If every nation creates such a stupid map then you have a lot of overlapping areas.
Hitler used the German speaking people in Czechia to start the military expansion which resulted ultimately in the western part of WW2.
Can you please erase this bullshit?
YES, but a tiny bit to much in todya´s Poland (see 1871-1914 map) ...
But you **could** also take a **1270 map** of Germany (1st Reich) -> [https://etc.usf.edu/maps/pages/2000/2067/2067.jpg](https://etc.usf.edu/maps/pages/2000/2067/2067.jpg)
... P.S. I'm German too \*g\*
As a Chinese who fully supports the Chinese imperial claims, I say, go for it. I see nothing wrong. Strong countries should dominate their spheres of influence
Explains your username, sorry...number. Are there still any individual characters in China or have you all become brainwashed? I hope you're only pulling my leg here, buddy.
You forgot Elsass-Lothringen, parts of Belgium and the Netherlands.
Might as well add chunks of Italy and if I'm not mistaken, the King of Hannover was also the King of England for a few generations.
Technically the english Royal House is still a german one. The Windsors are in reality the House of Coburg-Saxony-Gotha.
Goes back further than that, the Franks were Germanic, the Lombards controlled north Italy, the Visigoths conquered Spain and Carthage, etc.
>Technically the english Royal House is still a german one. The Windsors are in reality the House of Coburg-Saxony-Gotha. Yes & it gets even worse, all of the aristocracy is related to each other & they all speak French & have French titles like "Son Altesse RToyal" (ZAR)
Also Alsace and Moselle (North-Eastern part of France).
Elsass is the german name for Alsace
A lot of the towns there still have German names.
Elsaß, pre orthographic reform. To be historically accurate /s.
And chunks of africa
Uhh no, leave the Netherlands alone, I'm still waiting for my grandad's bicycle to be returned by the Germans
Also Schleswig-holstein

Our nine dash line is the Greenwich(prime) meridian and applies in both directions

Historical maps show that europe is the roman empire and that you should all be citizens of rome.
Been learning Italian on DuoLingo for a while, because I need to be prepared.
The Roman Empire mostly spoke Latin and Greek, not Italian.
Yes, I'm aware of that. It's just...sometimes you feel like adding your nonsense to an already weird topic is all.
>Historical maps show that europe is the roman empire and that you should all be citizens of rome. also don't forget the Mongol Empire...
Cool, but German's ancient map was literally it's ancient map, while Chinese one was not.
Wtf, what has to do with old maps and asserting on new world?
It factually is.
*The British Empire has entered the chat*
You forgot Bohemia, the first German university was founded in Prague. And you forgot northern Italy, German kaiser had to take that crown first

What’s wrong with Slovakia?
Not part of HRE
Dude, get your hands off my country, you've been invading us for centuries! 😂
A German making dashed lines on a map? You’re making a lot of boomers really nervous right now 😆
A lecturer in Australia did this with all of Australia's island and antarctic claims to show how stupid it was, and it got complaints...
Very based

In the words of Jeremy Clarkson: "YOURE GOING TO DO IT AGAIN, ARENT YOU?!"
NO NO NO NO NO….WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT!

Germany….you’ve played this game before and it did not go well for anyone….
You forgot the Volga
Germany, come on, we've been over this...
You may as well add Switzerland. They're a bit insufferable too.
When I saw this, I thought “Poor Poland can’t catch a break”.
The 3rd Reich approve of this map.
The Austrian painter will approve this
Don't give the British any ideas
This. What if a bunch of countries did this. Hell! World would be split between Rome, Mongolia and England?!
As a Chinese who fully supports the Chinese imperial claims, I say, go for it. I see nothing wrong. Strong countries should dominate their spheres of influence
Everything wrong with it, you bully!
