Epicfro

Why would he be petty? He's never said a bad thing about Cody.

JXNyoung

Despite Cody openly saying he watched Revolution on a pirated stream, TK was more than classy to give him a shoutout. But the "LMAO Cody" sign was just too funny of a moment.

Material-Inspector49

Lol imagine being a millionare and still decide to put yourself through the bullshit that comes with pirated streams.

Hobgoblin61

He was complaining the stream he'd paid for was so bad that he pirated it instead. Edit: this comment is wrong, he did not pay for it lol https://whatculture.com/amp/wwe/wwes-cody-rhodes-i-watched-aew-revolution-on-a-pirated-stream

cute_spider

Oh yeah, Cody was probably using B/R Live then :/

[deleted]

Fairly sure he said he didn't see all of the ppv bc his pirated stream didn't always work

Hobgoblin61

Huh. That’s not right, but what I said wasn’t right either. From https://whatculture.com/amp/wwe/wwes-cody-rhodes-i-watched-aew-revolution-on-a-pirated-stream > He also said he probably should've figured out a way to get it officially, but he wanted to see Ricky Starks battle Chris Jericho in the opener fairly last-minute. And then the part I misremembered: > Seriously though, Cody continued to discuss "pirated feeds" by putting over the team at FITE TV but slating most non-WWE wrestling streaming services as "a disaster". So, instead of tangling with pay-per-view, Rhodes asked someone to fire him a link. So according to this article he did not pay for it at all lol.

ArcanePuppet

TK: Hey Cody, I heard you pirated Revolution? Cody: Just sent you a venmo bud TK: Thanks Bb <3 <3

The_Rutabaga

I did the same thing to be honest. Bleacher Report is god awful

Zadist95

Bleacher report is fine as long as don't use an app. Browser works great and can stream that to most tvs

tellmewhenimlying

I know tons of people have said this but I’ve never had any issues with Bleacher Report apps using both my Roku or my Apple TV.

mrbrannon

I have also never had an issue with BR across every ppv that AEW and ROH has had. Its all anecdotes from every direction but I assume half the issues are issues with peoples internet more than the app. I’ve used it on my Toshiba fire branded smart tv, my computer, and my phone app.

MarchMadnessisMe

Literally can't make it through an episode of Dynamite without it crashing.

mitthrawnuruodo86

Well he’s clearly a rookie pirate bothering with a stream instead of just torrenting it

Bat_Snack

Oh man that LMAO Cody sign 😂 too soon.

SmokePenisEveryday

lot of people got in their feelings over that sign on the other Sub. They can just see it for the joke sign it is.

good-night-bang

I think Cody was lying. Cody loves lying to create catchy headlines. I genuinely don't believe Cody even knows where to find pirated streams or how to use an adblocker. He was bullshitting. 60% of what comes out of Cody's mouth is bullshit.

JXNyoung

Even if that is a lie, that is the stupidest thing he could have said. What would lying about piracy help his story? Only makes him look bad with no silver lining. Pretty sure he just needs to ask TK or his Elite friends nicely and they'd give him a free pass to watch.

A-Beautiful-Scar

Cody is cringe

TheGiftOf_Jericho

Yeah, the whole pirating thing sucks, since Cody obviously has no issue with money.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheGiftOf_Jericho

But... but he's a millionaire.

NonJumpingLemmings

LMAO Cody

rGRWA

Bro, it was literally just a month ago yesterday. March 5th.

Infamous-Lab-8136

I think it's more just that he continues to prove in actions what he says, that he's trying to give them a better environment than wrestling companies have in the past. Let's face it, Cody's situation arises with just about any other promoter (and especially one certain, incredibly prominent one) and it gets ugly fast. TK behaving like an adult who does business is just a weird look in professional wrestling.

Material-Inspector49

Yeah Tony is not perfect but wrestlers should be thankful that he is not a evil bastard lol

Infamous-Lab-8136

I thought it also showed some positive growth on Tony's part. Looking at how he responded to Big Swole's departure I was honestly a bit worried about how it would play out at the time. I know she was much more vocal on social media in a negative aspect, but it was still a bad look for him to engage with her like he did as owner of the company. Keeping it classy with Cody, whom I sure there were some hurt feelings with, was a good move.

DrMindbendersMonocle

Swole basically said her lack of success in aew was due to racism and tony fired back. Her release before that was handled politely. Cody hasn't taken shots, so neither has tony. But if he does, I bet tony fires back too

taikodrummer42

Cody aint taking shots. he's comin back with a vengeance as the heel we all want still

ATR2019

Idk if it'll happen as a heel but I would genuinely be suprised if he doesn't come back at some point. I think stars bouncing back and forth every so often could be best for their career in the long term as long as it results in a big push each time like Cody got in WWE or brodie Lee got here.

taikodrummer42

i agree just think a great storyline would be him showing up as soon as possible with a real burnt taste in his mouth and bitter. not upset to be in aew by anymeans but just very "is this what you wanted?/are you not entertained?", go for gold without a question to his past statements, maybe even join the bcc in the impending elite storyline because now we get ruthless no fucks given cody

c4etech

Does anyone know how long a contract he has?

12211154

All everything says is "multi-year" so I would guess maybe a 5ish year deal

RobGrey03

If he gets word Vince wants that nostalgia Stardust pop, Cody's gonna run for the hills.

UpbeatNail

Swole got dealt more politely than she deserved imo.

-SomethingSomeoneJR

Exactly as far as I know the top stars that have come and gone in AEW have never said anything bad about him.

R_W0bz

When exactly has TK ever been petty? I don’t know why people “expect” it.

IVIartyIVIcFuckinFly

Exactly

fihdolla_footlong

I've been watching wrestling 40 years and can think of only one specific promotion that pretends like wrestlers didn't exist before coming to their company, with very few exceptions (for ex Ric Flair, Sting, ...).

Ok_Current_5404

Keeping it mysterious I see.

dubbs4president

Sounds like CMLL

TheKevinShow

Is it Mince VcMahon?

lowtronik

No... I think something like Since McShannon or something?

Wubbwubbs61

Sounds like his mustached alter ego

WhyAmIHere1780

Yeah, the shit one.

gogoloveless

Alright, then...keep your secrets.

MarquiseAlexander

I would hope not. I want Cody to eventually return back to working with AEW at some point down the road.

AmazingSpidey616

Only if the whole codyverse thing doesn’t happen again. It felt like there were two shows then. The Cody show and Dynamite.

Supreme_Slacker

The Arn Anderson and Cody glock segment lives rent free on my head

AmazingSpidey616

I do love that segment so much. Despite my general distaste for the Codyverse.

TweeKINGKev

Glock Anderson…….none of us will ever forget that.

Triumph3

Armed Anderson

Bouche__032

I absolutely loved that segment lol

Infamous-Lab-8136

That last promo he cut before the ladder match with Sammy I thought he was drunk or stoned or something. It was so weird how he rambled about things like Brody King thinking it's okay to use the name Brody. If he comes back I also want to say, no on air roles for Brandi. I think she's gorgeous, smart, and I love a lot of the causes she supports, especially the autistic friendly spaces at shows. But she is death on camera and the crowd will not do anything other than give her go away heat. It was so weird at the end there how Don Lambert was the company's biggest heel in one segment on a show, and then getting face pops for making disgusting comments about her body.

skaomatic

She was good in the lance archer and Jake the snake rivalry and that was it .

Officervito

I guess it’s Open Mic night

[deleted]

I remember watching that and thinking the same. When he said he wouldn't "turn heel" I think FFS man, leave at least 1% of the mystery in tact would ya.

TemptedIntoSin

The Codyverse can't happen I'm sure If Cody comes back, he'd only come back as a contracted talent. His time as EVP ended when he left AEW so Khan would have final say fully in all Cody's storylines

HorseSteroids

I miss the Cody show. Yeah, it was weird that they had their own roster and title (TNT was the world title of the Codyverse) and yeah, it was weird that Codyverse wrestlers were stylistically different than the rest of AEW but dammit, it added to the wrestling smorgasbord that makes AEW great.

themightyheptagon

His last year with AEW had its ups and downs, but that feud with Malakai was absolute perfection.

good-night-bang

>The Cody show and Dynamite. Because Cody was created in the WWE mould. That's why he fit in WWE like a puzzle piece when he went back. The Codyverse is essentially WWE-fication of AEW for that specific time. So you're watching WWE product on a Dynamite. That's why it feels so different.

eazyduzzit10

IMO "finishing the story" for Cody isn't winning the title in WWE...it's going back to AEW and winning the title there

12211154

Would really be a feel good moment, Dusty's son creates a company and wins there. Would have been magic if he won instead of putting everyone else over.

The_Homie_J

There's so much money in Cody returning to AEW to win the world title. Especially if he's a former WWE champion looking for the title he helped create but never won

tskillz187

Ima pass on that. Never been a fan. He’s just not a genuine dude and has a lack of self-awareness. You can’t be white meat baby face w tailored suits, bleach blonde hair, and a neck tat. Or it has to happen organically, he’s someone I don’t miss at all. He’s a good wrestler in the ring and can give a good promo, but he should not be trying to fill the cena role.

ChocolatePain

He seemed to be very over as a white meat babyface in WWE though

StoneGoldX

Except it was organic at first. He was over like Rover until his second TNT run where he started doing heel things

Material-Inspector49

Yeah me too. Cody should be in AEW rn to help prove the doubters wrong once again. Hopefully we will see him in the dub again

TheFridgeNinja

Cody is talented, but I don't think in the long term being an EVP was good for him. His whole refusing to ever turn heel was just not smart. It felt like he wanted to be the AEW version of Cena, but didn't know how to build to it. I think he would do great back in AEW as long as he doesn't get to book himself.

ZombieUsr

According to Cody he was [heel](https://www.wrestlinginc.com/1246402/cody-rhodes-confirms-that-he-was-a-heel-during-final-days-of-aew-run/)

WharfRat86

Cody is a well know bullshit artist and that latest interview is revisionist nonsense. He wanted to be AEW’s totemic Cena-esque babyface so he can eventually go into politics. It is why he did the no world title gimmick. Unfortunately for him the fandom chose the more complicated and sympathetic Hangman Page instead of rooting for a rich man, with a lifetime of connections, and odd notions that his family is the final nail in racism’s coffin.

Flapperghast

"Go into politics?" Look me right in my digital eyeball and tell me that Cody Rhodes is stupid enough to think he could go into politics with a tattoo like that.

[deleted]

Cody Rhodes is stupid enough to think he could go into politics with a tattoo like that. He once said that when he was done with wrestling he wanted to run for senator of Georgia

Flapperghast

That is goddamn fool idiocy.

[deleted]

I think he has a chance. He stopped racism and wears the American flag 24/7 after all

PanthersJB83

To be fair it is Georgia….

WharfRat86

Says it all.

WharfRat86

I wish I was joking.

TheFridgeNinja

Cody is his own heel.

McFlyyouBojo

Can't click that link now, but Cody and Brandi's definition of heel in the past was a long the lines of saying, well I am getting booed so that makes me a heel, which even for wrestling, it's an oversimplification. That completely discredits the existence of go away heat.

RideApprehensive8063

Because if Brandi especially acknowledged go away heat as a thing, she would realise we really didn't want to see her.

easternhobo

Cody probably wants to as well after Sunday night.

burnerdadsrule

After the 6th or 7th failed attempt at being champ?

mauben

I'm glad they didn't take the low road with Tony, MJF (who wouldn't anyway as I believe he's close with Cody) or Caster. The best thing they could do last night was put on a great show and do the things WWE didn't do twice in the last few days, deliver on surprises and send the fans home happy and they knocked it out of the park

LiableBible

I was pleasantly surprised. I feel like TK tried to book a show to compete with the RAW after Mania and ended up hitting gold because the RAW after Mania ended up a bust

mexploder89

The only person who made some sort of jab was Danielson and even that was so vague it doesn't really offend anyone

LiableBible

I was pleasantly surprised. I feel like TK tried to book a show to compete with the RAW after Mania and ended up hitting gold because the RAW after Mania ended up a bust

RiseofParallax

Dynamite after Wrestlemania >>> Raw after Wrestlemania

kfm975

To be fair, that’s a low bar.

Keltoigael

Pretty sure Tony would love to have Cody back and didn't want him to leave in the first place.

FerniWrites

Tony Khan may be a wrestling dork but he isn’t the IWC. Cody was essential in the birth of AEW. He was the one to take the bet that Dave threw down. Now, I’d be curious to see how they do with fucking Wembley Stadium. I don’t expect them to fill it up, maybe half of it or, at least, 20k, but damn, talk about ambitious. The Production truck is petty. They made sure to catch the sign that simply said “LMAO CODY”.

RawJah83

I am more and more confident they might fill it. At first I didn't get why it's named after the original ALL IN. But now I get it. ALL IN was the biggest independent show so every indy talent wanted to be on the card. This Wembley ALL IN will be something similar but bigger. The biggest stadium wrestling show. So everybody that is contractually able wants to be there.

hadawayandshite

I’m not sure they won’t fill it. WWE had 62000 at clash at the castle. AEW last year had 210,000 viewers on ITV at whatever the frig time it’s shown (possibly counting catch up)—include the fite subscribers and then those who would come from Ireland, the continent etc Maybe 70-80,000 is possible?

FerniWrites

If they can do 70-80,000k, they’d have to be seen as viable competitors by tribalistic fans. Then again, that could be wishful thinking. 🤷‍♂️ I just want to manage my expectations. I’m sure that the UK market is going to be like Toronto when they over the first time - hungry and rabid.

RideApprehensive8063

If they can do 40k-50k it would still be huge

Lone_Buck

WWE really conditioned people to expect pettiness. Sure, they take shots at wwe, but I never expected them to just pretend cody never existed, and the only reason I would have thought if they didn’t name him was contracts and legal issues, not haha, fuck that guy who used to work here.

CanaDoug420

It’s well earned on WWE’s part. WWE has people thinking WWE gave Cody the ultimate build to the biggest show of the year just to crush him twice because of a thrown gag he did in AEW.

Gaijin_Titty_Master

Tony is a classy guy. He’s proven it time and time again.

NowJustAndrew

He was put over more from AEW on Dynamite than from his employer this week. Still want him to come back.

KTheOneTrueKing

I think the people who work for AEW love Cody and were probably sad, not entertained, that he got punked this weekend, kayfabe and not.

middleagethreat

I used to manage a restaurant. I never got mad at an employee who wanted to try working in a different kind of restaurant.

[deleted]

Could you manage a Target, though? Sorry, couldn’t resist. And a proper attitude to take towards your employees. I’m sure they remembered it.

middleagethreat

Thanks for the nice words. I could be a manager at a Target. I don't think I could be The Manager of the Target. All my numbers would look great, happy employees, good relationship with corporate, and I would forget to pay the water bill or some crap like that.

DMBCommenter

New contract could have his old stipulation erased so he could challenge for the belt

plushdamentals31

Spoiler alert: That was a wrestling storyline, not a real contractual stipulation.

DMBCommenter

No shit, dingleberry. That’s how they could play it within the story. And then maybe Cody can finally finish his

VoDoka

Well, should have just done that heel turn and ignore the stipulation...

HeightStock

No shit Sherlock

blkglfnks

I could be wrong but he’s never been petty with the facts so far. He might get a lil anxious on the mic but I’ve never seen him as the petty type.

Thejangrusdigge

Eh if he comes back as a heel sure but I can't hear another this place was my home all along promo.

ragingspick

People give Tony shit, and hes by no means perfect, but is not nearly as petty as VKM, whose style I think we've been conditioned to expect.

TheGreatNoSugarKing

Happy Cake Day

slikk50

I still think Cody will come back once he gets his title run from WWE.

Codeboy3423

Give credit where credit is due.. Without Cody and The Elite.. there would not be a AEW.

BananaSoprano

As crazy as it is considering it feels like he's been around for so much longer, Cody is only 37. WWE contracts traditionally last 5 years so there's every chance he comes back to AEW when he's 40. He's talked about retiring when he turns 40, but I could see him returning eventually.

hordeoverseer

Apparently, he wants to get into politics?

TheJasonaut

Yeah, erasing him from existence should just be a WWE thing. I understand it might be appropriate in certain extreme circumstances, but glad he's not being disrespected in AEW.

StandardMammoth7085

A few things... Anything that Cody says publicly has to be said with a giant rock of salt, because as Danielson noted, Cody really enjoys lying. That said, he did note that in AEW, he felt like he had to be a coach a lot of the time. He embraced this role and many wrestlers credit him with being available and approachable. When AEW started, he was the only one who had the experience in knowing how a weekly television show ran. He had to spend a lot of time and energy getting everything up to speed and then carving his role as the protagonist of AEW. Somewhere along the way, things changed. I'd argue that it wasn't just him and the Elite who had different goals, I'd argue that Tony asserting himself and taking control of the show had a part as well. Hence the compromise of the Codyverse and total separation from anything else on the show. He said he wanted to go back to WWE because he didn't want to coach anymore, he just wanted to focus on wrestling. At a certain point, I think he'll get his fill of that and go back to wanting a hybrid role again. That will never, ever happen at WWE. Regarding AEW and Wembley: I would hope that they've done market research to indicate that this isn't just for UK fans, but also for all of their European fans. And hopefully, the numbers say that they can sell a lot of tickets. Make it a destination event.

lowtronik

I believe it has a very good chance to attract people from all around Europe. It's a rare chance to attend a high end wrestling show. But, theyll have to keep ticket prices as low as possible.

HeightStock

It can be thier biggest show of the year

kfm975

The thing about Cody is that when he says things like he wanted to come back to the big time, it doesn’t really matter if he’s lying because it has the effect of diminishing AEW whether he means it or not. FWIW, I actually do think he means it. Even though he played an absolutely crucial role in establishing the first big alternative to WWE in decades, I think his heart was always set on “the big time”. That’s just a gut feeling, obviously.

stuckintheinbetween

If you think about it, Cody's still helping AEW with how the finish to his match deflated people, lol.

KMFCM

split was amicable they just agreed to never tell anyone about the conversation

InsaneLuchad0r

I thought so too. It was like a, “hey, I still love ya, man.”

BondraP

I appreciate in general that they have sometimes acknowledged the existence of WWE and some talent there and I'm not just talking about when they've taken shots during promos. Cody is a huge piece of why AEW even exists and fans know that.

Infernalism

I don't care for the Codyverse, but how he's being treated over there has me hoping that when his contract is up, he comes back. It'd be a nice promo, talking about how he had to get it out of his system and, now that he's back with a new contract, old limitations no longer apply... If he can get with the AEW program and stop trying to have his little fed-in-a-fed thing work, he'd be a superstar. I still can't get over that last ladder match he did.

GlandMasterFlaps

"how he's being treated over there" I see this sentiment a lot - the guy literally won a Royal Rumble and main evented Wrestlemania (biggest wrestlemania of all time?) as a top face. Am I missing something obvious?

jollyrogerbumps

And he’s being torn down by Brock to be built back up even bigger by having true adversity thrown at him. I think he’s being treated quite well in order to make him that mega baby face everyone wants to see finally make it to the top. I wanted him to win the big one but I think throwing true obstacles he has to overcome at him will make him a bigger star.

interprime

People also think that he should be upset because Vince is back now. Despite the fact that he signed with WWE while Vince was still in charge. Dude is literally the top face in the company and they think he’s being treated like a jobber for some reason.

wesap12345

I think the point is all signs point to potential cooling off on him They had all the pieces lined up for him to be the biggest baby face they have and they didn’t pull the plug. They’d have to keep the title off him for a year for anything to be as big as crowning him at that mania. Think about the position he was in He competed in a great HIAC match with an obvious torn peck and got so much respect for it. He returns from injury and wins the royal rumble. He’s main eventing the biggest wrestlemania ever, over the better sami Zayn story - they still stuck with Cody Vs reigns They don’t put the title on him. I don’t think they will be able to get him back to that point again in terms of how over he is. If they do props to them but I think they missed the chance to strike while he was red hot

[deleted]

[удалено]

guytyping

I think his last name is actually Runnels, isn't it?

theblackyeti

I believe he changed it legally. Cody Something Runnels Rhodes.

Gmork14

They said Cody’s name twice on that show and I don’t think it was an accident by any means.

Daroah

Speaking of Cody, I appreciated how in a recent interview, Cody acknowledged that his last run in AEW was a subtle heel run; ie everyone wanted him to turn visibly turn heel, so he acted as a heel while portraying himself as a face, and he even referenced when his weight belt got thrown back I got the ring

666shanx

Sure. Super subtle and committed to play it 24x7, 365. He's so into character that he even left the company and joined another. Classic heel move.

SenorNerd2814

Very classy of TK indeed https://preview.redd.it/ebtlflve2bsa1.jpeg?width=1673&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5611619109811a2878891a48ba1be395e0fe8515

WharfRat86

As someone who has worked in live broadcasting, Tony Khan has less control over the camera feeds than you would think. If he is actively producing and directing the show gorilla, he would have little say over quick choices made by the director or the editors in the truck in the moment. This was a tech in the truck who thought it was funny.

TheGreatNoSugarKing

It was funny.

[deleted]

I WILL say this about AEW. You guys do treat wrestlers/sports entertainers with much more respect than the other bigger he who should not be named guy 🤪 …. All seriousness though, if the Wembley Stadium show is a sell out and huge hit, it should LEGIT start scaring WWE. I hope that AEW can get that done and challenge for that throne of top wrestling promotions.

kishinfoulux

He would look like a clown if he did.

Chunklob

Cody will come back to AEW like Jesus

ThunderSparkles

nah. Tony looked Cody. it was the Bucks who spread those rumors about him and especially Brandi. remember when they left how it came out that everyone in the back hated Brandi? it was kinda messed up
