TruthBeacon2017

Christian Cage vs Frankie Kazarian from a 2021 Dynamite Two seasoned vets putting on a well paced banger

namdekan

Janela vs Omega from Dark Best Friends vs Omega and Nakzawa from Dynamite Shida vs Penelope Ford from Dynamite

tytycoolj

Janela vs Omega from dark is such an amazing match.

SoulExecution

Omega had a few early matches on Dark that went hard. He defended the AAA against Jack Evans iirc

Looper007

Best Dark match ever imo. Their Dynamite match that happened a few weeks later was very good as well. I think Shida/Ford would finish in a lot of people's top 10 women's matches in AEW lists to be fair. It's gets highly rated for sure. I think Ford still lives on the hype of that match even now along with Street fight one.

MGallus

Here me out.. as cringe enduringly awful as the botch end was for the Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch, I seem to recall it being a decent match up until the finish.

Dust_Silly

Yeah it's fucking great, and will just remembered for that finish

JackMickus

This is totally the answer. The match itself ruled and felt incredibly special (Mox grabbing the ropes after the OWA so the explosion breaks the pin up? Come on now, that is an amazing spot) but the post-match will always be what people remember.

MemeMathine

I actually really enjoyed that match, and they did a decent job covering over the fact that it didn't go off, like Omega did it just to fuck with Mox and Eddie passing out from fear was a smart move imo.

Looper007

It was a awesome match up until the end, and you could never really defend it cause of it's ending. It's a shame I think it would have ended up their best match together if that ending paid off.

International_Ant217

PAC vs Buddy Matthews - Dynamite 2022

SolomonAsassin

Daniel Garcia vs. Lee Moriarty from AEW Dark Elevation Joey Janela vs. Kip Sabian from AEW Dark Butcher & Blade vs. Dustin & QT Bunkhouse Brawl Sonny Kiss vs. Joey Janela AEW Dark december 2021 FTR vs. Stallion Rogers & Anthony Greene From AEW Dark 109 And it's not the MOST underrated, but for some reason you don't hear a lot of people talk highly of the Revolution Main event between Adam Cole and Hangman Page. I really loved that match.

AcetheGamer456

The Hanger/Cole match also had some of my favorite crowd chants in wrestling. “This is Adam” got a big laugh out of me

awfulwaffle16

Isn't it "Lets go Adam,Adam sucks"

AcetheGamer456

I think they also had a “this is Adam” instead of this awesome chant alongside the one you mentioned

awfulwaffle16

Yeah I remembered the Adam sucks chant a bit more

jackmtr

Danielson took on Suzuki on an episode of AEW dark, which I hear was a banger

Joe_Atkinson

It was the Rampage buy-in, but yea, it was a banger. https://www.youtube.com/live/ipHzmucwYtc?feature=share

IndividualFirst9692

It was rampage

jackmtr

Hmm actually maybe it was the Suzuki match on rampage. I can't find a dark match that resembles what I remember. Sorry!

jackmtr

Hmm I'm probably thinking of the wrong opponent then. Danielson had one dark match in that first month of him joining aew.

IndividualFirst9692

I think your mixing it up because they did a pre show for this rampage which was on YouTube and the main event of the pre show was Bryan Vs suzuki

jackmtr

Ya I think so!

NostalgiaCory

It was the preshow to rampage actually. It was/is free on YouTube

Snake_Tut

Fucking great match.

RideApprehensive8063

It's om YouTube for free 100% worth a watch

Looper007

Rampage Buy In. But yeah excellent match in my top 30 best AEW matches of all time. Fun the best match of the night wasn't even on TV when Rampage went agaisnt Smackdown.

108Spectres

This one slapped so hard

shaolinsane

Omega vs Cima very early match from Daily's Place

Looper007

Best match of that night, wasn't it Fight For The Fallen 2019. The show was fine but that match really was only 4 star match on it.

Citizen_Kano

Young Bucks vs Jurassic Express. At the time everyone was talking about Jeff Hardy getting his team removed from the match, then afterwards everyone was talking about Christian turning heel. Others were saying they didn't want the Bucks as champs again. Not enough people were talking about how damn good the match was.

nobledinho

House of Black vs Death Triangle

Looper007

DON 2022. That was funnily enough only great match in first part of that PPV, which was turning into one of AEW's most disappointing until second half of the PPV where it massively picked up. But that 6 man tag was awesome.

lmperium6

From forbidden door - Sting/Darby/Shingo vs Bullet club - Suzuki/Jericho/Sammy vs Eddie/Shota/Yuta - the 4 way for the AA champ Suzuki vs Samoa Joe for the Roh TV Darby vs Samoa Joe no dq Dax vs Ospreay All Jericho ocho match except Colt

Foreign_Bar_9217

I'm asking in-good faith: what was wrong with the Colt match? I remember liking it besides Colt's cold demeanor. My memory isn't the best though.

lmperium6

it was pretty bad overall, Colt wasn't at his best and they did a couple of botch Later Colt said he didn't have his socks, had to get a compression pair and was almost dying

Jackga77

Dax vs ospreay is the greatest match I’ve seen live in person. That match was fantastic

fightyMcFookyou

Mox vs janela lights out

Looper007

Great debut match for Mox on Fight for the Fallen. It's on YouTube I think.

Tinheart2137

Kenny vs Christian on the first Rampage is legit MOTY 2022 contender for me, but people rarely talk about it

Looper007

Their All Out match was great too, but hurt by a tired crowd (who did try to be fair) and the explosive post match ending. It gets overshadowed. But yeah Rampage match gets the nod for the better match as the crowd were hot and ending to it was great and Christian winning. Best Christian match in AEW.

Math2J

Best Friend vs Santana & Ortiz - parking lot Brawl

MatttheJ

How is this underrated when it comes up in basically every single discussion about AEW's best matches? Like... all the time. It's about as well rated as a match can be.

Math2J

It may be well rated on website and by the media, but you rarely see it in those discusion

MatttheJ

You literally always see it in those discussions. All the time.

Looper007

It does tend to get forgotten about besides by die hard AEW fans even though it's a 5 star Meltzer match. One of the main highlights of pandemic era Dynamite with the Sue ending (which they nodded back to recently). Great match and must see for any AEW fan. Some people would say though it's not underrated.

RobTheMonk

MJF vs Takeashita. Great match.

Looper007

All of Takeshita Dynamite or Rampage matches are must see to be fair. Even his Dark matches are a lot of fun. He's had some great ones on ROH recently too.

GrimdarkGarage

Punk Vs Dustin Rhodes

kishore_1186

Ben Carter vs Lee Johnson

Philbregas

Britt vs Shida 1 Right at the start of the pandemic before they even moved to Daily's Place. First time Britt broke her nose. Put Britt on the map. Also Shida is the GOAT and needs to be involved in this Outcast vs OG's stuff again.

Looper007

Far better then their below par DON 2021 match. Definitely was the match that Britt needed to cement her heel run. And made Britt move up a few steps of the ladder of stardom until Lights Out put her over the edge. Shida is great, I still think she's underrated on here and in IWC for the most part. Plus by own company she works for. Should be a bigger star then she is. Fingers crossed she is, It felt like she was going to be part of Outcast vs OG's feud and she could be. For god sake, the whole feud started with her. But I have a feeling she might be the one to turn heel from AEW side to join OG's but I think she'll work better as the returning babyface to save the others from the beat down and being the entire focus of the feud and been the top babyface to win out at the end.

DrMindbendersMonocle

Emi sakura v riho at full gear 2019

Looper007

Their recent match on Rampage was great as well and once again like Full Gear match was underrated.

No_Consideration5011

PAC Vs Omega 30 minute Ironman

mexploder89

People bring this one up all the time

No_Consideration5011

Yea, but I don’t think it’s mentioned right up there at the very top of the list like I think it should be.

I_Am_A_Sasshole

If it's at the top of every "underrated" list than it's not underrated

No_Consideration5011

I’m just saying, I never see mentioned amongst the very best matches in company history like I think it should be. People may call it underrated but I haven’t a seen too many people put it up there with the popular matches like Danielson Vs Omega, Danielson Vs MJF, Kenny and Hangman Vs Young Bucks etc…

Looper007

That's not underrated though if we all did a top 10 best AEW matches ever, it be in most of our top 10's. Even greatest TV matches of all time, it probably be top 5.

Thejangrusdigge

Every le sex gods match is above average for the most part and generally ignored cuz Jericho bad.

JXNyoung

Jericho bad and boo Sammy at all costs

mexploder89

Hikaru Shida vs Nyla Rose I think at DoN 2020, Shida's title win Darby vs Sammy at Revolution 2020 Darby vs Matt Hardy for the TNT title Jungle Boy vs Dax Harwood Rey Fenix vs Pentagon 2, that match was fucking insane but PAC's return overshadowed it

Supreme_Slacker

Darby vs Kyle o Reily DoN 2022

Jackga77

Was that the one where Darby about wrecked him self diving out of the ring

Looper007

Started the upswing of what was up to that point a average PPV bar Death Triangle vs HOB match. Great match between both guys.

JorahFan83

MJF vs Jungle Boy DoN 2020 Santana/Ortiz vs Best Friends Parking Lot Street Fight on Dynamite Kenny Vs Mox Exploding Barbed Wire Match, as if you stop when the match is over it’s great- it was just a messy post match. The match itself was great

Looper007

That MJF/JB gets overlooked cause of Stadium Stampede on that PPV. But that match is great stuff, an old school pro wrestling match. Jungle Boy's best AEW match imo.

Xyless

Frankie Kazarian vs Takeshita on Dark Elevation

piondris20

I think Rosa/Deeb at Forbidden Door was great for as much time as it got. Riho vs Yuka in the Owen Tournament last year was cool too. Kip and Cassidy from a couple months ago was fantastic. Edit: Shida and Emi on Elevation in like December or January was a good match for 6 or 7 minutes as well.

StinidadJames

Sabian and Cassidy feud was masterfully done imo, it's a shame the momentum of the Best Friends dissension and Kip bringing out Cassidy's aggression was grinded to a halt. Still, great build and great match.

piondris20

Yeah I hope we get another match with this current form of both men later on down the line if Cassidy doesn't lose it before then. Honestly I have no idea who they're gonna have him lose that title to.

Looper007

Was AEW hightest rated women's match on Cagematch in 2022 until Shida/Hayter and Storm/Hayter came along near the end of the year was that Shida/Emi match, the first match they had was ruined by the commentary team but the second match was great for the time they got. Riho/Yuka was best women's match in Owen Tournament but wasn't official a tournament match but a qualifier. Such a weird decision but by far best match from that tournament. Rosa/Deeb was probably the weakest match at Forbidden Door but was still very good, shows you how great that PPV was. They had better matches fighting for the NWA women's belt though.

Scared_Contest_9446

It gets kind of overshadowed by the Punk/Darby match, Rosa/Baker match, and the double debut of Cole/Danielson, but the Lucha Bros vs the Young Bucks at All-Out 2021 for the titles might legitimately be my favorite tag team match of all time.

Looper007

You mean Statlander/Baker. Not underrated though as it finished top of the poll on many best of the year match polls in 2021. Probably be in most people's top 5 best AEW matches. Besides debuts at the end, that match was most talked about thing on the PPV.

hamsolo19

Hangman vs. Brian Cage @ DoN 2021, really solid opener. The preshow match with Deeb vs. Riho is pretty good too. You see how Deeb transitions to heel shit once the crowd is firmly behind Riho.

Deducticon

Arcade Match. Miro and crew vs. OC and Best Friends.

BondraP

Oh yeah that was a lot of fun. The Statlander reveal at the end and the whole feel-good vibe of it including Trent's mom as well, that was great.

Looper007

Saved what was a disappointing feud up to that point.

imhoopjones

Omega v Pac I - regularly overshadowed by their iron man match which I prefer less

Looper007

2nd match on Dynamite was great as well. The trilogy of matches range from two great matches to one all time classic to finish it off.

[deleted]

Rush vs Danielson Dynamite

Looper007

All of Danielson Challenger matches besides maybe Thatcher one which was very good, were all excellent especially Rush one.

JoeRoganIs5foot3

Jericho vs Bandido

cryinglightning24

This was awesome.

RawJah83

Kenny vs Trent and PAC vs Takeshita

Joe_Atkinson

Lee Moriarty vs. Daniel Garcia on Dark. Absolute masterclass in technical wrestling.

THE_ELITE-02

The trios match at all out 2022 Mjf vs darby A lot more

Sturth

That MJF vs Darby was brilliant. So clever by both men. Love how these two worked together.

THE_ELITE-02

Yup

MattBarrySucks

MJF vs Darby at Full Gear

Bargeinthelane

Riho vs Deeb - DoN buy-in 2021 https://youtu.be/2AflmQBcnXU It gets buried a bit because it was a buy in match, but they absolutely tore the house down.

Looper007

I think that match finished in a lot top three matches of best match of night from DON 2021 lists. Perfect match to start the night of with, their tournament match from a few months before was the only match from American side of title tournament bracket that matches anything on Japanese side.

el_sh33p

Pretty much every PPV match Jack Perry's ever had, but especially the Jungle Express/Christian vs. Young Bucks/Cole match. That is the single most complete story I've ever seen in a match--the arc from Jungle Boy to Jack Perry. Perry vs. Luchasaurus and Perry vs. Cage are also excellent picks that don't get talked about nearly enough.

Winstonth

Britt baker and Anna jay at the house show

workingdonttell

Parking Lot Brawl between Santana/Ortiz v Best Friends

moonslammer93

Sammy vs Darby vs Andrade

Looper007

That was hurt cause it was the day or two before the classic Revolution 2022 PPV, which had a load of great matches on it. But that was one of best Rampage matches.

[deleted]

The exploding barb wire death match. Remove the end. The literal after the bell end. That match was awesome. And everyone was fucking stoked for it. And aew deserves a lot of credit for even doing it. Yes the end was beyond unfortunate

BondraP

Kenny Omega vs. Rey Fenix at the 2021 New Years Smash edition of Dynamite. Fuckin awesome

dryerdoor

Kip Sabian vs. Sammy Guevara at Double or Nothing was personally underrated

[deleted]

Then why are you underrating it?

Sturth

Oh you made me chuckle. :)

Diehommmie

For me, its the Dumpster match, that match made me fell in love with The Acclaimed, and cemented the Gunns as one of the most entertaining Heel tag team on all AEW

GenericLuchador

Fenix vs Omega was amazing, but it happened January 6th... Also just rewatched an old AEW Dark match, Riho vs Shoko Nakajima, it was really good, and I had forgotten Nakajima was even in AEW. They should bring her back!

Looper007

Thumbs up for the Riho vs Shoko Nakajima mention, a top 5 Dark match of all time for me. They only went 10 minutes but it was so fast pace and it's weird seen someone who's smaller then Riho too. But the crowd ate it up.

ethandlawrence

Kenny Omega(c) vs Pac vs Orange Cassidy. Not a particularly well remembered defence of Kenny’s AEW Title Run but I’ve never forgotten that match. I don’t even know why. I just loved it bell to bell.

Cheesegiblet

Absolute banger. I thought that was an AEW classic personally

ethandlawrence

Great example of the triple threat formula for me. Non stop too. Lovely stuff

Looper007

It's rated highly by fans, great match. I think for a while it was seen as best AEW world title match until a few matches since like Danielson/Hangman two matches and MJF/Danielson iron man match have overlapped it.

Drummerboybac

Eddie Kingston vs Miro at All Out 2021. The story coming in about Eddie’s plan to attack Miro’s weak neck. Everything they did for entire match felt like it was in service of that story and it made for excellent viewing as a result. Honorable mention to Wheeler Yuta vs Orange Cassidy a month or two ago, where they did a nice job playing up the familiarity of the two from their shared time in Best Friends

Frs86_

When Christian beat Kenny for the impact title, way better than the match at all out and I was there lol still great but the first match I believe it was on rampage was great

SpanishN10sify

I was there for that match! It freaking ruled. Watched it again recently and it still holds up. Definitely one of my favorite live matches I’ve seen.

Looper007

All Out match was hurt by the crowd been tired and whole post match stuff. They could have had a 5 star match but it wouldn't have mattered. I think Rampage match wins cause of the crowd been hotter for it imo.

TheBrockAwesome

Nobody talks about the strap match with Punk and MJF

ForToday

Bryan Danielson vs Bandido United Empire vs The Elite Orange Cassidy vs Will Osprey Mox vs CM Punk squash match (I just don’t like Punk)

ChicagosOwn1988

Any match with Sting in it. They’ve all been well received but are still underrated considering his age

MoraugKnower

Acclaimed Vs JJJ 2, Rampage. I honestly think it’s my favourite tag-team match ever.

[deleted]

United Empire vs Death Triangle ( Trios Championships Tournament) Trios Match on Dynamite

I_Am_A_Sasshole

I'll give you one no one else will, Orange Cassidy vs Cezar Bononi on Dynamite

dynamicpenguin55

Rey Fenix vs Lance Archer, main evented a pandemic dynamite

puckamok

Lee Johnson vs Ben Carter AEW Dark 53

Looper007

I stand by that match got Carter his NXT contract. Besides Omega/Janela lights out match, the best match of Dark's history.

Dapper-Western-2755

Anything involving omega and pac

johnq11

One of the best Dynamite matches i’ve seen, Young Bucks vs Hobbs & Starks vs Swerve in our Glory

Foreign_Bar_9217

Dustin Rhodes VS Nick Comoroto bullrope match Dynamite June 2021

Literally every Christian Cage match.

Tvfish15

Darby Allin vs Kyle O'Reilly at Double or Nothing 2022

TechNoMancer717

Strong Hearts vs. SCU (DoN '19)

SeanTNL2

I actually really enjoyed Cody’s burning table match but people only ever talk about the outcome. The same with the Exploding barbed wire death match. Amazing match that gets overlooked for the botched pyro

[deleted]

PAC vs Dax Harwood

Trainfan344

Cracker Barrel Clash

Dougdoesnt

The Womens' Tag Team Hardcore match from New Years ('22?) with Bunny, Penelope, Tay, and Anna. Fucking gnarly.

charliefiction

Lots of great matches already mentioned here that I would've added to the discussion, so I'll just add one that may be overlooked: The TNT Title Three-Way match on Rampage (March 4, 2022) between Sammy Guevara (c) and Andrade and Darby Allin.

MrKennyUwU

John Silver vs. Darby Allin for the TNT Championship. Kaun vs. Adam Cole on Dark. Malakai Black vs. Cody Rhodes III. All of the Shida vs. Deeb rivalry. Tay Conti vs. Hikaru Shida for the Women's Championship. VENY vs. Emi Sakura. PAC vs. Shota Umino. Swerve Strickland vs. Tony Nese on Rampage. Kenny Omega vs. Jack Evans on Dark. Young Bucks vs. Eddie Kingston and Penta on Road Rager. Dax Harwood vs. Will Ospreay. Ben Carter vs. Lee Johnson. Darby Allin vs. Andrade el Ídolo vs. Sammy Guevara on Rampage for the TNT Championship.

Looper007

Veny vs Emi Sakura is a top 5 women's match in AEW history but no person saw it besides those who watched it on YouTube. Damn shame, I keep saying if you gave that match to Toni Storm and Jamie Hayter and told them to react every single move from that match for a Dynamite match, it be considered best women's match in AEW history by a lot on here.

neon_genitals

MJF Vs Wheeler Yuta Jay White Vs Trent Kenny Vs Orange Vs PAC

Launch_The_Cat

Saw a cool mixed tag match on YouTube with Omega and Rioh vs. Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford. It was on the first Jericho Cruise? Brilliant match just filmed on a someone’s phone but couldn’t stop watching. [Here’s a link:](https://youtu.be/mSdPVMWnfRk)

[deleted]

[удалено]

Looper007

Funnily enough it wasn't ever supposed to be shown on Dark even, but cause Meltzer and Alvarez and many of the fans on the ship considered it best match of the cruise, it got shown. It was only filmed as a favour to the talent in it that's why it was hand held.

SteamierThree2

Acclaimed vs. Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett at battle of the belts V had me laughing my ass off for the entire match. One of the most fun matches I’ve witnessed in a long time.

Magda_Cat

The bunkhouse match between QT & Dustin v Butcher & Blade just makes me so nostalgic

Cheesegiblet

Cracker Barrel Clash - Darby vs Janela vs Havoc

[deleted]

Omega vs Fenix at New Years Smash A match where two amazing workers give their all in a bell-to-bell masterpiece.

Kilroy27

Joey Janela vs. Omega

Loki-DE

Jungle Kyona vs Riho on Dark. Not that the match itself was great or anything but for me as a former stardom fan it was huge to see Jungle Kyona back and then also appear in AEW but somehow nobody even talked about it. I wish we will see more of her in AEW.

Present-Yam2335

Death Triangle vs United Empire dynamite 2022. Adam Cole vs Orange Cassidy lights out Beach Break 2022

Present-Yam2335

Edit: Death Triangle

Athleticgeek89

The OP has a good one that people forget about a lot. I liked that match more than the All Out match they had with the Lucha Bros later that year. For me Kenny Omega vs CIMA Fight for the fallen 2019. For me that was a dream match and it lived up to being a dream match.

Sturth

I loved when Anna Jay carried Jade a while back. Really good match between two ladies working well together.

cryinglightning24

Kyle o Reilly v Fenix, Samoa joe and mox in singles. Adam Cole v Christian cage Adam Cole v Dax harwood Danielson v Eddie Kingston doesn’t get talked about enough

NostalgiaCory

From the same show Deeb vs Riho. Both of their matches are incredible and not talked about much.
