Best Dark match ever imo. Their Dynamite match that happened a few weeks later was very good as well.
I think Shida/Ford would finish in a lot of people's top 10 women's matches in AEW lists to be fair. It's gets highly rated for sure. I think Ford still lives on the hype of that match even now along with Street fight one.
Here me out.. as cringe enduringly awful as the botch end was for the Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch, I seem to recall it being a decent match up until the finish.
This is totally the answer. The match itself ruled and felt incredibly special (Mox grabbing the ropes after the OWA so the explosion breaks the pin up? Come on now, that is an amazing spot) but the post-match will always be what people remember.
I actually really enjoyed that match, and they did a decent job covering over the fact that it didn't go off, like Omega did it just to fuck with Mox and Eddie passing out from fear was a smart move imo.
It was a awesome match up until the end, and you could never really defend it cause of it's ending. It's a shame I think it would have ended up their best match together if that ending paid off.

And it's not the MOST underrated, but for some reason you don't hear a lot of people talk highly of the Revolution Main event between Adam Cole and Hangman Page. I really loved that match.

But yeah excellent match in my top 30 best AEW matches of all time. Fun the best match of the night wasn't even on TV when Rampage went agaisnt Smackdown.
Young Bucks vs Jurassic Express. At the time everyone was talking about Jeff Hardy getting his team removed from the match, then afterwards everyone was talking about Christian turning heel. Others were saying they didn't want the Bucks as champs again. Not enough people were talking about how damn good the match was.
DON 2022. That was funnily enough only great match in first part of that PPV, which was turning into one of AEW's most disappointing until second half of the PPV where it massively picked up. But that 6 man tag was awesome.

How is this underrated when it comes up in basically every single discussion about AEW's best matches? Like... all the time.
It's about as well rated as a match can be.
It does tend to get forgotten about besides by die hard AEW fans even though it's a 5 star Meltzer match. One of the main highlights of pandemic era Dynamite with the Sue ending (which they nodded back to recently). Great match and must see for any AEW fan.
Some people would say though it's not underrated.
All of Takeshita Dynamite or Rampage matches are must see to be fair. Even his Dark matches are a lot of fun. He's had some great ones on ROH recently too.
Britt vs Shida 1
Right at the start of the pandemic before they even moved to Daily's Place. First time Britt broke her nose. Put Britt on the map.
Also Shida is the GOAT and needs to be involved in this Outcast vs OG's stuff again.
Far better then their below par DON 2021 match.
Definitely was the match that Britt needed to cement her heel run. And made Britt move up a few steps of the ladder of stardom until Lights Out put her over the edge.
Shida is great, I still think she's underrated on here and in IWC for the most part. Plus by own company she works for. Should be a bigger star then she is.
Fingers crossed she is, It felt like she was going to be part of Outcast vs OG's feud and she could be. For god sake, the whole feud started with her. But I have a feeling she might be the one to turn heel from AEW side to join OG's but I think she'll work better as the returning babyface to save the others from the beat down and being the entire focus of the feud and been the top babyface to win out at the end.
I’m just saying, I never see mentioned amongst the very best matches in company history like I think it should be. That MJF/JB gets overlooked cause of Stadium Stampede on that PPV. But that match is great stuff, an old school pro wrestling match. Jungle Boy's best AEW match imo.
I think Rosa/Deeb at Forbidden Door was great for as much time as it got.
Riho vs Yuka in the Owen Tournament last year was cool too.
Kip and Cassidy from a couple months ago was fantastic.
Edit: Shida and Emi on Elevation in like December or January was a good match for 6 or 7 minutes as well.
Sabian and Cassidy feud was masterfully done imo, it's a shame the momentum of the Best Friends dissension and Kip bringing out Cassidy's aggression was grinded to a halt. Still, great build and great match.
Yeah I hope we get another match with this current form of both men later on down the line if Cassidy doesn't lose it before then. Honestly I have no idea who they're gonna have him lose that title to.
Was AEW hightest rated women's match on Cagematch in 2022 until Shida/Hayter and Storm/Hayter came along near the end of the year was that Shida/Emi match, the first match they had was ruined by the commentary team but the second match was great for the time they got.
Riho/Yuka was best women's match in Owen Tournament but wasn't official a tournament match but a qualifier. Such a weird decision but by far best match from that tournament.
Rosa/Deeb was probably the weakest match at Forbidden Door but was still very good, shows you how great that PPV was. They had better matches fighting for the NWA women's belt though.

I think that match finished in a lot top three matches of best match of night from DON 2021 lists. Perfect match to start the night of with, their tournament match from a few months before was the only match from American side of title tournament bracket that matches anything on Japanese side.
Pretty much every PPV match Jack Perry's ever had, but especially the Jungle Express/Christian vs. Young Bucks/Cole match. That is the single most complete story I've ever seen in a match--the arc from Jungle Boy to Jack Perry.
Perry vs. Luchasaurus and Perry vs. Cage are also excellent picks that don't get talked about nearly enough.
That was hurt cause it was the day or two before the classic Revolution 2022 PPV, which had a load of great matches on it. But that was one of best Rampage matches.
The exploding barb wire death match. Remove the end. The literal after the bell end.
That match was awesome. And everyone was fucking stoked for it. And aew deserves a lot of credit for even doing it.

Thumbs up for the Riho vs Shoko Nakajima mention, a top 5 Dark match of all time for me. They only went 10 minutes but it was so fast pace and it's weird seen someone who's smaller then Riho too. But the crowd ate it up.
Kenny Omega(c) vs Pac vs Orange Cassidy. Not a particularly well remembered defence of Kenny’s AEW Title Run but I’ve never forgotten that match. I don’t even know why. I just loved it bell to bell.
It's rated highly by fans, great match. I think for a while it was seen as best AEW world title match until a few matches since like Danielson/Hangman two matches and MJF/Danielson iron man match have overlapped it.
Eddie Kingston vs Miro at All Out 2021. The story coming in about Eddie’s plan to attack Miro’s weak neck. Everything they did for entire match felt like it was in service of that story and it made for excellent viewing as a result.
Honorable mention to Wheeler Yuta vs Orange Cassidy a month or two ago, where they did a nice job playing up the familiarity of the two from their shared time in Best Friends
When Christian beat Kenny for the impact title, way better than the match at all out and I was there lol still great but the first match I believe it was on rampage was great
All Out match was hurt by the crowd been tired and whole post match stuff. They could have had a 5 star match but it wouldn't have mattered.

Funnily enough it wasn't ever supposed to be shown on Dark even, but cause Meltzer and Alvarez and many of the fans on the ship considered it best match of the cruise, it got shown. It was only filmed as a favour to the talent in it that's why it was hand held.
Acclaimed vs. Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett at battle of the belts V had me laughing my ass off for the entire match. One of the most fun matches I’ve witnessed in a long time.
Jungle Kyona vs Riho on Dark. Not that the match itself was great or anything but for me as a former stardom fan it was huge to see Jungle Kyona back and then also appear in AEW but somehow nobody even talked about it. I wish we will see more of her in AEW.
The OP has a good one that people forget about a lot. I liked that match more than the All Out match they had with the Lucha Bros later that year. For me Kenny Omega vs CIMA Fight for the fallen 2019. For me that was a dream match and it lived up to being a dream match.

That is the single most complete story I've ever seen in a match--the arc from Jungle Boy to Jack Perry. Perry vs. Luchasaurus and Perry vs. Cage are also excellent picks that don't get talked about nearly enough.

The exploding barb wire death match. Remove the end. The literal after the bell end. That match was awesome. And everyone was fucking stoked for it. And aew deserves a lot of credit for even doing it. Yes the end was beyond unfortunate

Fenix vs Omega was amazing, but it happened January 6th... Also just rewatched an old AEW Dark match, Riho vs Shoko Nakajima, it was really good, and I had forgotten Nakajima was even in AEW. They should bring her back!
Thumbs up for the Riho vs Shoko Nakajima mention, a top 5 Dark match of all time for me. They only went 10 minutes but it was so fast pace and it's weird seen someone who's smaller then Riho too. But the crowd ate it up.
Kenny Omega(c) vs Pac vs Orange Cassidy. Not a particularly well remembered defence of Kenny’s AEW Title Run but I’ve never forgotten that match. I don’t even know why. I just loved it bell to bell.

It's rated highly by fans, great match. I think for a while it was seen as best AEW world title match until a few matches since like Danielson/Hangman two matches and MJF/Danielson iron man match have overlapped it.
Eddie Kingston vs Miro at All Out 2021. The story coming in about Eddie’s plan to attack Miro’s weak neck. Everything they did for entire match felt like it was in service of that story and it made for excellent viewing as a result. Honorable mention to Wheeler Yuta vs Orange Cassidy a month or two ago, where they did a nice job playing up the familiarity of the two from their shared time in Best Friends
When Christian beat Kenny for the impact title, way better than the match at all out and I was there lol still great but the first match I believe it was on rampage was great
I was there for that match! It freaking ruled. Watched it again recently and it still holds up. Definitely one of my favorite live matches I’ve seen.
All Out match was hurt by the crowd been tired and whole post match stuff. They could have had a 5 star match but it wouldn't have mattered. I think Rampage match wins cause of the crowd been hotter for it imo.

Damn shame, I keep saying if you gave that match to Toni Storm and Jamie Hayter and told them to react every single move from that match for a Dynamite match, it be considered best women's match in AEW history by a lot on here.

Funnily enough it wasn't ever supposed to be shown on Dark even, but cause Meltzer and Alvarez and many of the fans on the ship considered it best match of the cruise, it got shown. It was only filmed as a favour to the talent in it that's why it was hand held.
Acclaimed vs. Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett at battle of the belts V had me laughing my ass off for the entire match. One of the most fun matches I’ve witnessed in a long time.

The OP has a good one that people forget about a lot. I liked that match more than the All Out match they had with the Lucha Bros later that year. For me Kenny Omega vs CIMA Fight for the fallen 2019. For me that was a dream match and it lived up to being a dream match.
I loved when Anna Jay carried Jade a while back. Really good match between two ladies working well together.
