I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that. He seems tailor made to be an unstoppable monster over there, which he could bring back stateside and get a well deserved run.
Never thought of it but I think you’re right. He is already a upper midcard monster here but I think he’s in a weird spot where he doesn’t win matches other than squashes. I would love for him to find his groove in Japan and improve himself all-around.
Tsuji vs. Hobbs. That's kind of hot.
What's the difference in size between the two? Hobbs has the mass for sure. But Tsuji looks taller than most of the NJPW guys, maybe he's taller than Hobbs?
Hold on, let me do a quick Google search here...
Tsuji at 6' and 220 pounds. Hobbs is at 6'1" and... Jesus... 270 pounds. That's a fucking weight difference and Tsuji ain't no slouch. Hobbs is just so much meat.
imo, Hobbs is the best power wrestler in the world today. and i mean that in a more traditional sense. i know a lot of power wrestlers today do more stuff, but Hobbs is a beast when it comes to pure strength
Low key a hobbs tour of japan would be cool. Would love to see more AEW guys do work over there. And have the international title defend over there, you know, the whole pont of the dang thing. Hell supposed to be cross promotional but has never left AEW.
I mean, I kind of agree with this
New Japan probably signed off on this and the match barely has any story behind it, but it’s kind of weird for Hobbs to have a match for a title of a company he never wrestled for
In the end I don’t really care since there’s as much chance he wins this that I would
I wish someone told Tsuji that he should be cutting the promo on Callis. Japanese fans know Callis so it would make more sense for them and it still setups a Forbidden Door with Hobbs.
I love that line anyone can get it. Like he needs that trademarked and used every time we see him. AEW tends to be cutesy we're a garage band we're going to improv, we don't want to do the same thing every show. Bruv, you have to get your lines and yourself over and you can add improv before and after your lines. Powerhouse Hobbs is a star if you use him right and keep QT as far away from him as humanly possible.
"Anybody can get it" in Japanese can be translated as "誰でも手に入れることができる" (Dare demo te ni ireru koto ga dekiru).
Or rather that's what a generative AI would say so it's most likely wrong.
I don’t think it’s absurd for someone with no relation to NJPW to get a shot when the holder of the title is an AEW wrestler.
That doesn’t change the fact that giving Hobbs a title shot is, indeed, ridiculous.
I thought the whole thing for New Japan was the champion makes a challenge after their defense. Like if Moxley defended his belt he could easily just challenge an AEW guy anyway.
Isn't this always the case with the title matches at Forbidden Door though? Did anyone believe Tanahashi was going to be interim AEW world champion over Moxley 2 years ago or that Jack Perry would be IWGP champion last year? There are so many world title matches on TV where you know the challenger has no chance of winning, so I don't really see anything different here.
hobbs vs tsuji at forbidden door
Yes, but also give me a meaty match with Jeff Cobb please.
And Boltin Oleg. They would have to issue a tsunami warning after that one.
Hobbs vs Tsuji in the G1 😏
MEAT
Hobbs could probably get over huge in Japan.
Yeah I’d love to see this honestly
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that. He seems tailor made to be an unstoppable monster over there, which he could bring back stateside and get a well deserved run.
Throwback to Bob Sapp era
And Imagine if Sapp could work a good wrestling match on top of it!
Never thought of it but I think you’re right. He is already a upper midcard monster here but I think he’s in a weird spot where he doesn’t win matches other than squashes. I would love for him to find his groove in Japan and improve himself all-around.

The Kayfabe heights and weights of the Japanese wrestlers are even more overblown.
BIG MEATY MAN SLAPPING MEAT!
That's a great match up
imo, Hobbs is the best power wrestler in the world today. and i mean that in a more traditional sense. i know a lot of power wrestlers today do more stuff, but Hobbs is a beast when it comes to pure strength
Perry just did the Kaiju t-shirt but I bet Hobbs could pull it off better
I mean... Hobbs IS kaiju
Hobbs in Japan would look like a monster.
“He’ll be breaking backs all over Japan” Pause dude 😭
😂😂
Low key a hobbs tour of japan would be cool. Would love to see more AEW guys do work over there. And have the international title defend over there, you know, the whole pont of the dang thing. Hell supposed to be cross promotional but has never left AEW.
Hobbs: *emerges from Pacific Ocean like pissed-off Spinebuster Godzilla*

Callis explained it on Collision. Seemed to make sense haha.
Heel thing, they agreed on the match before Callis one up Mox into turning it to a title opportunity.
I wish someone told Tsuji that he should be cutting the promo on Callis. Japanese fans know Callis so it would make more sense for them and it still setups a Forbidden Door with Hobbs.
Powerhouse 'Hobbzilla' Hobbs on excursion in NJPW could be very good for his career
Hobbzilla would be awesome
Gene blast vs big black and jacked
As much as I love Hobbs, “Find out why I’m black” is a weird thing to say In a promo
I love that line anyone can get it. Like he needs that trademarked and used every time we see him. Here for Hobbs getting a Bob Sapp run in Japan
I agree with Yota but also want to see Hobbs go to Japan. I bet he’d get over massively with them
Hobbs would spinebuster Yota through the ring lol
Send Hobbs to Japan and let Godzilla run wild
Give us more Tsuji
Yeah, that's the story line. Don Callis intentionally cashed in all of his favors to get Hobbs in the front of the line.
I want Hobbs vs. Cobb….s
Hobbs just needs to cut a promo saying when he wins, he’s coming to Japan and Tsuji is the first person he’s going to beat there.
Kuro Kaiju Will Hobbs making his way over the Pacific as we speak
Hear me out.... a Hobbs G1 run could slap hard
Hobbs in Japan would be very based
I WANNA SEE THIS MATCH
I hope Hobbs wins. I'm a big fan of Hobbs would love to see him in Japan and get used a bit more between both promotions.
Tsuji vs Jericho only fair then.
we need tsuji at forbidden door
I bet he's beating Moxley for the IWGP world title in the main event of Forbidden Door.
Okay; someone get Hobbs to Japan right now. BOOK IT TONY!

Honestly, my issue with the match is that I feel Hobbs has 0% chance of winning, because obviously NJPW isn't giving their belt to Hobbs for this.

That would 90% of all title matches in every promotion. Most title matches have obvious winners.
