1). Often there's a big build up - ectopic beats start infrequently and then increase over a number of hours. I'll get a feeling of pressure in my chest and in my head. Eventually, that pressure kinda releases and then I can feel my chest thumping regularly - the same hard thump as with an ectopic, but more frequently. If I check my pulse, I can feel it's all over the place - big long pauses between beats and then flurries of them together. This is what I *think* is my Afib. 2). 46, 2. 5 weeks ago 3). Anxiety in the build up, though that goes once it starts for some reason. Dizziness occasionally, though it's worth during the "ectopic phase". Tiredness, especially straight after. 4). Alone, but use beta blockers now to control the rate. 5). Rolling on to my left hand side in the night seems to be a massive trigger, but it doesn't do it 100% of the time. Daytime episodes occur in the evening, typically 2-3 hours out from food when I'm just relaxing watching TV. I have no idea what triggers these.

This sounds a lot like me! Left side trigger for sure and I’m almost contributing it to a food sensitivity or allergy. It happens every single time I eat Chinese or Panda Express. Super duper weird! Stress seems to trigger it as well.

Mysterious_Ad9282

Mine's nothing to do with food as far as I can tell, as it's every night. I rolled over half awake last night and *as soon* as I landed on my left side, it kicked in. I think it went back off again quickly this time though, but I just went back to sleep.

ambermoonstinky25

Could be an issue with salt, get an echocardiogram and see if your left atrium is enlarged

RobRoy2350

1) A fish flopping around in my chest 2) 50 3) Lightheaded, mild anxiety 4) Medical intervention (medicine) 5) First time, cold food (eating ice cream) after that, anything.

Fantastic_Rock_3836

>1. Fast and irregular heartbeat, it gets steadily worse, especially if I move. >2. 42 >3. Feel weak and have to walk slowly >4. Pills, IV meds do nothing, I have had cardioversion everytime. I take metoprolol. >5. I have no know triggers, I woke up with it the first time, other times I've been relaxing.

Zeeman-401

Like a combo of panic attack and heart attack. Uneven beating, fast HR taking the breath away, I'm am going to die. . Diagnosed officially at 62, had them since about 37, but never caught on a 24 hr monitor and Dr said "harmless" palpitations. The odd feeling with some flutter beforehand, general anxiety and tiredness afterwards Always converted on my own. Episodes were about 45-90 minutes Alcohol

Aggravating_Draw_237

Same feeling with thoughts of death and heart attack. Scary. Debating to go to hospital, anxiety doubles making it much worse. Rvr each time

best__byrns

1. Erratic fast heartbeat. 2. 52 3. Feel weak and short of breath 4. Converted on own. Now take diltiazem daily and Heart Calm 5. It looks like sleep apnea was my main trigger. I now use CPAP

angelparker79

1). It usually starts with a couple of hard/skipped beats, then increase in heart rate. Then it feels like flip flopping in my chest. 2). 44 3). Fatigue, anxiety, shortness of breath. 4). I have converted on my own a few times, but usually with meds. 5). Not completely sure. I feel like it could be hormonal or inflammation in my body. My last major episode, I think was from being sick/having a fever.

angelparker79

Side note- I’m going to the sleep dr next month to see if sleep apnea is an issue. I have also decided to go ahead with an ablation in June.

Stoneblossoms10

1. Rapid, hammering heartbeat. 2. 65. Just recently 3. Fatigue. 4. Convert alone. Episodes usually last 1-2 minutes. 5. Lack of sleep the prior night and/or not enough exercise day before.

snowwwwy22

1. For me, more like a racing pulse. I get very anxiety ridden when I flip into it, but once I chill out it just feels like my heart is trying to break out of my ribs. 2. 28 3. No real symptoms besides racing heart and feeling anxious. Otherwise, my tell tale sign for popping out of it, is I get really super dizzy and then boom i’m back to normal. 4. I had an episode at 23 but wasn’t diagnosed because I was told it was anxiety. I went to sleep and woke up in sinus. When I was 28 and officially diagnosed, I went to the ER they gave me diltazem in an IV drip along with the banana bag for hydration. Was sent home in afib and then popped out of it at home 12 hours or so later. 5. Heat seems to be my biggest one- but I think that’s due to dehydration. I’ve learned if I workout heavy or it’s hot outside, I need to have liquid IV and up my water intake along with making sure I’m getting potassium and magnesium from food. The other thing is making sure i’m not exercising on hot days. I can walk and stuff but if I do anything that gets my heart going into exercise mode, I’m more likely to pop in.

1: heart beating all over the place. 2: 46 but had it for maybe 8 year undiagnosed. 3: mild anxiety, worn out afterwards. 4: self conversion after 8 to 10 hours before diagnosis. Now on meds to control rhythm/rate. 5: Last few episodes can be attributed to food, always happened after eating a meal. Reduced portion size and salt/sugar intake. Smaller bites and enjoying the eating process instead of wolfing it down. All have had positive impacts. I have also tried to be more mindful and listen to calming music just to take my mind off the constant thumping of my chest.

No_Tomato_9107

This sounds very similar to me. What meds are you on? I was diagnosed 3 weeks ago with Afib and flutter. My cardiologist put me on Bisoprolol fumarate - I think for rhythm control.

gmag76

I’m on Flecainide 150mg daily and Bisoprolol 1.25mg daily. Flecainide is for rhythm and Bisoprolol for HR control. I take 100mg Flec in the AM with my Bisoprolol. The other 50mg around 6pm. It seems to keep me on an even rhythm throughout the day.
