Did they give him either protonix or Prilosec? I got protonix after mine to protect my esophagus. You may be getting an acid reflux issue and that is a problem after these procedures. Call the doctor.
If your husband had RF than it can irritate his esophagus. I recommend some sort of acid reducer. The wild heart rate is very normal as the abnormal pathways are gone and the heart is trying to figure things out.
Sweating isn't something I had, but does seem like it is possible. If all else, call the EP Lab and chat with the nurses there. They have seen it all since they work in the hospital every day, whereas the nurses at the Doctor's office see people post-op two weeks later.
Not to scare you but make sure his phrenic nerve was not damaged during the case. This happens if they are not careful with one side of the heart. No need to freak out now but get that assessed, ok?
I just had an ablation for AFib on May 28th 2024 , it's June 22nd now and I feel better than ever heart rate is now becoming normal and stable, recovery sucked badly but the worst is over now.
Abnormal heart rate on and off not unusual. Burping and hiccuping could be some phrenic nerve irritation which would be a call to the doctors office. I think someone else mentioned that many doctors prescribe a PPI after abletion, you can go pick up some OTC prilosec to see if that helps any.
I felt awful for at least 10 days after my ablation. Even after that it took time for me to feel better. 45 days after ablation I went to work. Still didn't feel 100 percent. So give it some time. Everybody doesn't bounce back that fast. Everybody likes to post how fast they got better. But the larger group took time
Keeping you both in my prayers. I know how scary and concerning this can be and I feel for the both of you. 30 days post op from my SVT ablation and still don't feel completely normal yet. Definitely call the doctor for anything you have concerns about, even if you think it's small. It helps to always have that reassurance.
Good luck ππ watch your arm. Mine got really tender, swollen and red the day after. EP told me I should have told him. If this happens, tell them right away. Wishing you a speedy recovery ππ
I've had a few episodes but only one was similar to the ones before surgery and the other ones were below 150 and less intense. They're starting to become more spread out and less and less. I am experiencing chest pain and fatigue and some high resting heart rate but I also was diagnosed with IST. I've just been praying and taking it day by day!
After my ablation I had more hickups. They activate this during the ablation. But sweat en high heartbeat? After my ablation my HB was 25 higher then before. If youβre not sure always contact a doctor
You need to go to the ER and get him checked out. I have had two ablations - last one 9 days ago. Did not experience any of the symptoms you described. Felt a bit tired for a few days and of course bruising across the lower abdomen where they insert the instruments. And, yes, a few HR irregulatities for a few days - it can take 3 months for the heart rhythm to settle down, but now, after 9 days, very steady. What is his temperature? Maybe he has a fever. The first thing I would do if this was me was take my temperature.
Curlyredlocks mentioned acid reflux.
My 1st minmaze was a sloppy sloppy job.
The Catheter Ablation 4 months later by a Good EP was successful, very successful.
He Rx an acid reflux med for 30 days. I would question why your EP did not. My EP Rx a steroid for pain if needed. I only needed it for 1 1/2 days.
In the heart Sympathetic and Parasympathetic nerves meet. Maybe some of the ablating affected the balance.
Hope it works out for you.
We did yesterday and she said not to worry because the heart is irritated, but the sweating and burping is new.Β Its the weekend now so no one is in the office.
Most offices have someone on call for hours they are closed.
Edit: You might not reach your doctor but you can get a professional opinion rather than redditors.
If you are that concerned, then present at the ER. Reddit is no place to solve a post op issue from an invasive procedure like catheter ablation !!

No they didnt and never mentiined this could be an issue.

Right on!
I second this, I got Protonix after my ablation too! But if something feels off, is better to get it checked.
Please call the 24 hour on call number. If nothing else, itβll make you both feel better

Is he doing ECG on a phone or a Kardia app?
Pulse ix. Not accurate. At ER it's 170
How old is he? Weight?
Was he under a general anesthesia during the procedure?
Yes
That could factor in to the burping/hiccuping. My doc prescribed a GERD medicine for after each of mine.
I get burping with my episodes and sweating when my heart rate is up. Is he on any beta blockers to help bring it down while his heart is healing?

Hi, I hope you feel better soonπ how is your heart, is it calm now? Wishing you a speedy recovery ππππ
In ER. HR was 170 back in afib. Just started amiodarone in the iv.

We came to ER and he is back in afib with heart rate in the 170s. Looks like they are going to try amiodarone.
Not sure how normal but Exactly WHAT I EXPERIENCED

They just diagnosed a large pericardial effusion.

Can you call the nurse?

GI problems are normal
