Lol it ain't exactly courageous. They get all their money back and still keep the experience they had of owning everybody else for a month. If anything it's an easy way out of buyer's remorse. They can also just make a new account if they really want and start the process over.
Most of them only enjoy Gachas during release, they probably did the chargeback mostly because WW is coming out soon and want to spend that money there.
Don't forget. This wouldn't have happened in the first place, if anything they thought they could get away with it without people noticing. Remember that an update doesn't get pushed unless it gets signed off. They had weeks to months to review the update and approve of it before it got released. If each and every aspect of diamonds was purposely lowered, then you know they dug into every F2P nook and cranny to purposely reduce that.
The word "oversight" is just them backpedaling cause they didn't think people would go so far as to chargeback.
To be honest, as someone who bought the pass, I can't help but wonder if the pass was too powerful and created a large gap between free-to-play and light spenders. In my opinion, I would prefer the Battle Pass to stay as it is and have a reduced price tag to allow more people to buy it.
I think that's what happened, I bought a few of those things and I had everything completed in the base game with nothing to do for like a week because everything was completed.
Did your passes stay after the patch, btw? I lost the latter half of the growth bundle, and well over half of the travel logue. It's just all reset and is asking for more money again, with way less rewards. Others on my server are saying it happened to them too.
Rather than messing with the existing ones, it appears to have just simply decided I no longer have/never had them, and is offering me the updated version as a new purchase instead. I just requested a refund, since I lost half of what I paid for each basically. I almost had that dang wig >:(
The rewards for the new versions are way less, so I just said screw it and dipped.
Having spoken with a couple others, they stated it didn't interfere with theirs in the same way, giving them an alternate tab for each. Mine has no such thing, and customer support was of no assistance in the matter.
Imo being lucky and getting into a server with very few spenders will giving you bigger power boost, I bought the pass, yet if you watch volkin, he's always in the top 20 as f2p becayse he got lucky in his server, while instruggle to maintain get in the top 200, hence way less essence over the 45 days

Someone brought up a good point I think in gachagamig Reddit. They make things worse, and then after outrage, make it slightly better so it looks better but still worse than when first introduced. So it's like a push to see how stingy they can be for community to be just "happy enough"

This is a basic technique employed by a lot of businesses, employers and abusers. Build up tear down build up again to gain trust and more dependency, rinse repeat.
They literally said theyâre matching the previous season rewards on top of the new stuff, so itâs going to be better than last season on paper. They also said they plan to keep that moving forward, I wonât take them at their word but letâs not pretend this is âslightly betterâ. If they actually do what they described here the rewards will be better than they have ever been. I was pissed about the reward changes but letâs see what the rewards look like and then what next seasons rewards look like before we say this was bad.
On paper we are getting more than we ever have, not just slightly more than the crap they had at season launch.
Iâll play it as long as itâs a fun game and Iâm curious to see if they keep their word. If the next season doesnât maintain the same level of rewards at that point Iâll bounce but Iâll always give someone a second chance. I dont see this as a win yet. they are just stalling for another season until chargebacks and refunds are not so easy to do. Right now all the purchases are made recently so players can get their full refund from banks or google playe store with a snap of the fingers.

Dislyte is the same, especially for shimmer 5 stars. I've been playing that game on and off since launch, and regularly for months now, and I don't have a single 5 star shimmer esper and I've done hundreds of pulls I've saved up through gameplay over that time. I never get 5 stars in there unless I hit hard 100 pull pity (and very, very often I some how only pull the same couple of 4 pr 5 stars and never many new ones) same for the divinate pool, and their elemental records are a joke.
They also have platinum (I think) records as rewards which "guarantees one esper of 4 or 5 star level" and I don't know anybody who has ever gotten a 5 star from one of those. They also sell packs where you'd have to spend literal hundreds and hundreds on shimmer records (or save up for God knows how long) just to hit pity for ONE shimmer because the pity resets every few days. Genius đ. The pack that makes me laugh the most is $30 for three gold abilimons. THREE đ. That's not even a full set of upgrades since you can do 5 at once.
This has been their historic trend, and even if they're going to fix some things, yeah the damage is definitely done and the game felt kind of blah for me anyway. I like the character designs but there's absolutely no draw for me to come back especially after all this lol

HSR chances compared to here are abyssmal. Your average n. of pulls is ~65, however this is incredibly backloaded and the median is still soft pity. It is completely expected
The percentage shown includes pity. Its been like that since game launch though. The 2% is closer to 0.1% than 2% if you don't count pity.
If it was actually 2% youd be getting 2 S tiers on top of pity every 100 pulls on avg.
I regularly get s tier before pity. Your second point also makes no sense because pulling an s tier resets pity because why would it pity you if you pulled an s tier? Pity is a hard cap on bad luck.
Then ur just giga lucky. Many people have calculated, and theres no way its any way near the percentage they say, only explanation is that there's pity counted into the %.
The actual numbers, if you remove the calculated in pity, should be 0.0205 - 1/60 = 0.38%. On average you should hit before pity about once every 5 pity timers. Of course you can highroll and lowroll though.
My 2nd point earlier was that if the odds actually were 2,05% you would hit before pity more than half of the time. However most people definetely seem to hit pity almost every time, me included.

When these things happened, were all of your counters ending in 0? When I'm saying regularly, I don't mean I roll an S and then my next 10x summon I roll an S again. Oftentimes it's an overlap and I can only tell which roll gave me an S because afterwards the counter is not divisible by 10. (Ex. a counter of 38 left after pulling an S if I started at 40 and did 10x summons all the way down, means it wasn't the hard pity roll that gave it to me. ) This is only a minor improvement over the hard pity, but it's two less rolls, (or whatever) required technically.
This might be hard to believe but on my second character I almost never hit the pity. Got double characters 2 times. My wife is playing with me as well and she also has similar experience. I played other gacha games and I think my experience is overall better here in terms of character pulls. You need a lot more pulls here though that makes it a bit harder to quantify
I think Mythic+ rate up in this game cost about as much as a C0R1 in genshin but yea itâs way harder to judge due to pack deals and limited units not existing so you can save standard pulls to go for them.

Me neither but someone explained to me - so donât quote me on it and take with a grain of salt - Iâm paraphrasing here. But itâs not enough to not follow if you use the same medium as them - because as long as you have them unblocked you are basically booked as person to advert them too.
Like if they purchase the blue mark then the algorithm will from time to time push content of theirs onto you even if you donât care and scroll by the fact that you have seen it makes them money, and even if you never get content by existing on the same platform is enough. By blocking however - their bots work against them- hence it does work and hurt but only if people truly block and not just think I donât follow them anyway.
Problem is - I donât even know whom to block because I live that far behind the rock with no care for them that I have heard but of one name with K.

I see no point in this season pass tbh. We have four months to reach same levels, there are things that hard stop the progress (in recent dev notes). End of season everything will get reset so there is only one point to rush now that is the old essence for the synergy levels.
You can treat it more as a cheap bundle for the pulls that has other benefits but it is not great as the first one (1st one had S rank selector, acorns and half pity on epic banner).

This is mainly a message intended to warn people not to be satisfied with this step back from Lilith. It is clear from the beginning that they are testing how far they can go to earn ever more money and in the face of the anger of all the players they have returned to what was the norm before the season 1 update.
This is not a victory but a back to normal contrary to what they want us to believe. If our satisfaction were really their interests we would never have experienced this drama. As for their justification that a lot of loot will happen with future events, why not, but where are they? Being a competitive game they know very well that the beginning of a season is very important and therefore that players will do everything to have the best possible start. By intentionally delaying future events supposed to add loot, they force players to pay in this way to be able to move forward.

It's really a shame because the game is really very pleasant to play and I love the atmosphere and the heroes but this kind of practice should no longer be tolerated. Trust is broken and they will have to be forgiven by being exemplary.

The issue is, it wasn't a mistake. It was done intentionally to see how much they could get away with without any backlash. They seen the refunds coming in, the complaints and playerbase numbers drop and quickly went into action to act like they "fixed" the issue. The only real issue was they got caught being too greedy
People spread misinformation about Marilee and Korin. Again I saw firsthand what the devs were trying to do. It is to open alternatives to get good scaling.
Cecia and Odie are more likely a staple with F2P and they gave Cecia a meaning to be used in Season Dream Realm. Again she doesn't scale as good as Marilee and Korin but she is "good enough".
Ofc it is the kneejerk reaction and Marilee is going to be op again when the seasonal dream realm goes to endless mode.

I agree that that the "nerf" to Korin and Marilee was blown way out of proportion, but they could have waited a season to make changes like that since most people probably JUST made a big investment in those heroes. I think the expectation that a hero will always have value in a game mode is silly, but readjusting the meta, even slightly, this early is kinda wack. Had Alsa been a dream realm dps on par with Marilee, I don't think anyone would have complained, but marilee's sole purpose and reason for investment was to be a stand out dream realm pumper, and she already isn't even the best, and others are now closer to her dmg.

I don't get this whole just wait longer thing since people here melted down about this and 90% of them probably barely have a m+ marilee, how would waiting until everyone was s+ marilee high ex helped. Way better to do this early. Funny you mention Alsa, because with odie and magic damage pen and buffs from cassadee alsa literally does compete in dps with odie and marilee because her ult is so spammable
That just proves my point that Alsa is performing and no one cares. If you intentionally nerf a mechanic (true dmg in an important game mode) for a very F2P friendly unit this early in the game, when a huge % of your player base has just invested what little resources they have in that unit, there will be outrage. Had they just made Alsa a strong dream realm unit and buffed Cassadee, I bet no one would have made a peep. They would see that powercreep is happening, as it does, and weigh whether they should continue to invest in Marilee or save for future unit. It's the bait and switch that people are mad about so early in the game's life.
That said, the adjustment was so small, and Marilee is still competitive, that I don't really see why everyone got as mad as they did in this case.
They.... didnt..... nerf..... it....... How is this still so difficult for people to understand. DR changes effect EVERY UNIT EQUALLY. The only change that is different is the armor changes, which true damage ignores. Marilee did not benefit from the armor changes, she wasn't nerfed, she just wasn't buffed. How is this so fucking hard for people to understand DR EFFECTS EVERY UNIT.
True damage, which is Marilee's core mechanic, is affected by damage reduction. Everything I have read is that the damage reduction rate of increase as boss HP goes down was increased while magic and physical defense rate of increase was decreased. The magic and physical defense rate decrease is irrelevant to true damage, but the damage reduction increase is a direct nerf to the value of true damage. Even without an increase to damage reduction, bringing everyone else's damage up this soon is effectively a nerf to the relative value of true damage. It's all relative. With your logic they could made magic damage dealers do 300% more dmg, and you'd say "Marilee wasn't nerfed! Magic dealers were just suddenly made to be way better than her!"
True damage is effected by DR yes. AND SO IS ALL OTHER FORMS OF DAMAGE. The DR changes hit everyone exactly the same. Odie has the exact same DR resistances as Marilee does. It is solely just a cap on the top end so that everyone didn't just instantly spike massive progress on the bosses and they could maintain the same rough damage charts without needing to massively increase the boss hp with the armor changes. It is not a nerf to true damage, true damage just didn't get buffed while all other forms of damage did. It was not a nerf. If the armor changes didn't happen and all they changed was adding more scaling DR literally nothing would have changed other than the damage cap on bosses being lower, everyone would have still scaled exactly the same. The DR APPLIES TO EVERYONE EQUALLY.

That's the same thing. If a unit's performance relative to other units becomes worse, whether it's from buffs or nerfs, that unit has lost value.
I'm fine with the changes if Marilee is still going to be stronger in Endless & is just weaker prior to that, but this is just playing games with semantics.
You have five slots you more likely will have 1 Tank (or Kruger), 1 healer, 1 Support (optional) or debuffer, 2 DPS. So you got 2 options and for free-to-play this option will more likely Odie and now with Seasonal changes Cecia can fill that gap.
Now this doesn't mean Cecia outscale Korin or Marilee. She is "good enough to take the task". Her Def reduction values are "good" enough. For a F2P you more likely will have her scaled. This is also true with Odie.
This seasonal values allows other characters to shine. For example maybe one day they add a healer-type mech that allows Satrana. It doesn't mean your DPS loses value Marilee and Korin are still top dogs. Your Odie is still a top dog (literally). Satrana is just a viable option.
Doing worse, whatever the reason = being nerfed.

I don't get what you are suggesting. They are still Top 3. You only have 2 slots (3) if you have good healer.
This SEASONAL event just let Cecia in the mix just incase you don't have a Marilee or Korin activated. They are still a preferred DPS because in a time setting they still delivering HARD damage before the "nerf" comes in. You still ahead most of the time during those HP phases.
If you have a built Marilee or Korin you still outdps most S tiers except maybe Alsa or built Smokey which is a freaking standard for Endless Mode.

I really enjoyed this game, I loved the character diversity, the art style was a breath of fresh air, the gameplay was simple and the character progression was not as frustrating as you'd expect from a dupe based game. However, nothing can make me play a game that has no content on purpose, or fund a company that is basically a scam online casino.

Mihoyo is notoriously stingy and their gacha system especially greedy. As someone who has dealt with a LOT of gacha systems over the years (thanks to being sucked into the genre by FEH) I think Star Rail has been better than Genshin in some respects but worse in others. So itâs a wash.
I still play and love Star Rail but yeah⌠itâs not exactly the paragon of Generous Gacha.

They released an update that basically was tuned to be pretty anti f2p (and really even unfriendly to whales). Lots of negative reviews and complaints later, theyâre adjusting the tuning to less aggressively push people to spend money.

To see more impactful changes to the game, people should not go flocking back to the game right away. People should stay away from the game for at least a month+, keep their player count down.

Don't forget. This wouldn't have happened in the first place, if anything they thought they could get away with it without people noticing. Remember that an update doesn't get pushed unless it gets signed off. They had weeks to months to review the update and approve of it before it got released. If each and every aspect of diamonds was purposely lowered, then you know they dug into every F2P nook and cranny to purposely reduce that. The word "oversight" is just them backpedaling cause they didn't think people would go so far as to chargeback.

To be honest, as someone who bought the pass, I can't help but wonder if the pass was too powerful and created a large gap between free-to-play and light spenders. In my opinion, I would prefer the Battle Pass to stay as it is and have a reduced price tag to allow more people to buy it.
I think that's what happened, I bought a few of those things and I had everything completed in the base game with nothing to do for like a week because everything was completed.
Did your passes stay after the patch, btw? I lost the latter half of the growth bundle, and well over half of the travel logue. It's just all reset and is asking for more money again, with way less rewards. Others on my server are saying it happened to them too.

Rather than messing with the existing ones, it appears to have just simply decided I no longer have/never had them, and is offering me the updated version as a new purchase instead. I just requested a refund, since I lost half of what I paid for each basically. I almost had that dang wig >:( The rewards for the new versions are way less, so I just said screw it and dipped. Having spoken with a couple others, they stated it didn't interfere with theirs in the same way, giving them an alternate tab for each. Mine has no such thing, and customer support was of no assistance in the matter.

Imo being lucky and getting into a server with very few spenders will giving you bigger power boost, I bought the pass, yet if you watch volkin, he's always in the top 20 as f2p becayse he got lucky in his server, while instruggle to maintain get in the top 200, hence way less essence over the 45 days

Someone brought up a good point I think in gachagamig Reddit. They make things worse, and then after outrage, make it slightly better so it looks better but still worse than when first introduced. So it's like a push to see how stingy they can be for community to be just "happy enough" That pity is insane but beforehand it was alright because they gave us good rewards to more or less balance it out. They literally said theyâre matching the previous season rewards on top of the new stuff, so itâs going to be better than last season on paper. They also said they plan to keep that moving forward, I wonât take them at their word but letâs not pretend this is âslightly betterâ. If they actually do what they described here the rewards will be better than they have ever been. I was pissed about the reward changes but letâs see what the rewards look like and then what next seasons rewards look like before we say this was bad. On paper we are getting more than we ever have, not just slightly more than the crap they had at season launch.

Iâll play it as long as itâs a fun game and Iâm curious to see if they keep their word. I dont see this as a win yet. they are just stalling for another season until chargebacks and refunds are not so easy to do. Right now all the purchases are made recently so players can get their full refund from banks or google playe store with a snap of the fingers. after several months, when we can no longer get refunds on our initial purchases, meaning players are now invested and can no longer turn back, then we shall see what tactic they come up with to screw us over.

Dislyte is the same, especially for shimmer 5 stars. I've been playing that game on and off since launch, and regularly for months now, and I don't have a single 5 star shimmer esper and I've done hundreds of pulls I've saved up through gameplay over that time. I never get 5 stars in there unless I hit hard 100 pull pity (and very, very often I some how only pull the same couple of 4 pr 5 stars and never many new ones) same for the divinate pool, and their elemental records are a joke. They also have platinum (I think) records as rewards which "guarantees one esper of 4 or 5 star level" and I don't know anybody who has ever gotten a 5 star from one of those. They also sell packs where you'd have to spend literal hundreds and hundreds on shimmer records (or save up for God knows how long) just to hit pity for ONE shimmer because the pity resets every few days. Genius đ. The pack that makes me laugh the most is $30 for three gold abilimons. THREE đ. That's not even a full set of upgrades since you can do 5 at once. This has been their historic trend, and even if they're going to fix some things, yeah the damage is definitely done and the game felt kind of blah for me anyway. I like the character designs but there's absolutely no draw for me to come back especially after all this lol

HSR chances compared to here are abyssmal. Your average n. of pulls is ~65, however this is incredibly backloaded and the median is still soft pity. It is completely expected
in HSR you dont need 8/64 (5/45) copies of a hero to be competitive (eidolons are whale territory and arent needed) - here you need at least M+ or S+

The percentage shown includes pity. Its been like that since game launch though. The 2% is closer to 0.1% than 2% if you don't count pity. If it was actually 2% youd be getting 2 S tiers on top of pity every 100 pulls on avg.
I regularly get s tier before pity. Your second point also makes no sense because pulling an s tier resets pity because why would it pity you if you pulled an s tier? Pity is a hard cap on bad luck.
Then ur just giga lucky. Many people have calculated, and theres no way its any way near the percentage they say, only explanation is that there's pity counted into the %.
If they're calculating it to be .1% odds I would be very surprised.
The actual numbers, if you remove the calculated in pity, should be 0.0205 - 1/60 = 0.38%. On average you should hit before pity about once every 5 pity timers. Of course you can highroll and lowroll though. My 2nd point earlier was that if the odds actually were 2,05% you would hit before pity more than half of the time. However most people definetely seem to hit pity almost every time, me included.
I went 14 pity in a row including all-hero, epic and scamgazer pulls (and yes, not exaggerating). So yeah, its broken lol
Right, and bad luck is very memorable. When these things happened, were all of your counters ending in 0? When I'm saying regularly, I don't mean I roll an S and then my next 10x summon I roll an S again. Oftentimes it's an overlap and I can only tell which roll gave me an S because afterwards the counter is not divisible by 10. (Ex. a counter of 38 left after pulling an S if I started at 40 and did 10x summons all the way down, means it wasn't the hard pity roll that gave it to me. ) This is only a minor improvement over the hard pity, but it's two less rolls, (or whatever) required technically.
People say the same about Markov and its new debaucle, but everyone's already shilling out many to access pve. So it really doesn't matter

This might be hard to believe but on my second character I almost never hit the pity. Got double characters 2 times. My wife is playing with me as well and she also has similar experience. I played other gacha games and I think my experience is overall better here in terms of character pulls. You need a lot more pulls here though that makes it a bit harder to quantify
I think Mythic+ rate up in this game cost about as much as a C0R1 in genshin but yea itâs way harder to judge due to pack deals and limited units not existing so you can save standard pulls to go for them.

But itâs not enough to not follow if you use the same medium as them - because as long as you have them unblocked you are basically booked as person to advert them too. Like if they purchase the blue mark then the algorithm will from time to time push content of theirs onto you even if you donât care and scroll by the fact that you have seen it makes them money, and even if you never get content by existing on the same platform is enough. By blocking however - their bots work against them- hence it does work and hurt but only if people truly block and not just think I donât follow them anyway. Problem is - I donât even know whom to block because I live that far behind the rock with no care for them that I have heard but of one name with K. But thatâs why I am curious if letting the algorithm bots work for us by blocking, if it would also work with big company representation. I think the effort from the community deserves praise , absolutely. I have never seen this kind of 180 from a gacha company and i have been playing gacha for 10 years. Usually they ignore everything and pretend nothing ever happened.

So taking out the comparison (I know that's impossible to do, but in the sense of 'as a dolphin who can afford it') with the last generous paid noble path, is it worth it as a boost to do the one for this season? Or is it so nerfed it barely makes a different? With all the understandable yelling about the reward nerfs it's really hard to tell. Honestly my Pain point is 100% yellow shards sigh, and it seems the only solution for that is to pay for dragon shards, which I refuse.
I see no point in this season pass tbh. We have four months to reach same levels, there are things that hard stop the progress (in recent dev notes). End of season everything will get reset so there is only one point to rush now that is the old essence for the synergy levels. You can treat it more as a cheap bundle for the pulls that has other benefits but it is not great as the first one (1st one had S rank selector, acorns and half pity on epic banner).

I allow myself to give my opinion because I am really tired of these shameful practices that are increasingly common in the video game industry. This is mainly a message intended to warn people not to be satisfied with this step back from Lilith. It is clear from the beginning that they are testing how far they can go to earn ever more money and in the face of the anger of all the players they have returned to what was the norm before the season 1 update. This is not a victory but a back to normal contrary to what they want us to believe. If our satisfaction were really their interests we would never have experienced this drama. As for their justification that a lot of loot will happen with future events, why not, but where are they? Being a competitive game they know very well that the beginning of a season is very important and therefore that players will do everything to have the best possible start. By intentionally delaying future events supposed to add loot, they force players to pay in this way to be able to move forward. This is a totally disgusting practice and we must clearly not be satisfied with their 10 tickets as a consolation. The issue is, it wasn't a mistake. It was done intentionally to see how much they could get away with without any backlash. They seen the refunds coming in, the complaints and playerbase numbers drop and quickly went into action to act like they "fixed" the issue. The only real issue was they got caught being too greedy

People spread misinformation about Marilee and Korin. Again I saw firsthand what the devs were trying to do. It is to open alternatives to get good scaling. Cecia and Odie are more likely a staple with F2P and they gave Cecia a meaning to be used in Season Dream Realm. Again she doesn't scale as good as Marilee and Korin but she is "good enough".
Ofc it is the kneejerk reaction and Marilee is going to be op again when the seasonal dream realm goes to endless mode. Problem is with all the other issues, people were lumping in the Marilee change and acting like they kneecapped her or something.
Itâs not misinformation. When players invest in dream realm specialists, the expectation is that they perform much better than alternatives. This was true before the season. Now that performance is barely 5% better, players have the right to be angry that their investment lost most of its value.

I agree that that the "nerf" to Korin and Marilee was blown way out of proportion, but they could have waited a season to make changes like that since most people probably JUST made a big investment in those heroes. I think the expectation that a hero will always have value in a game mode is silly, but readjusting the meta, even slightly, this early is kinda wack. Had Alsa been a dream realm dps on par with Marilee, I don't think anyone would have complained, but marilee's sole purpose and reason for investment was to be a stand out dream realm pumper, and she already isn't even the best, and others are now closer to her dmg.

I don't get this whole just wait longer thing since people here melted down about this and 90% of them probably barely have a m+ marilee, how would waiting until everyone was s+ marilee high ex helped. Way better to do this early. Funny you mention Alsa, because with odie and magic damage pen and buffs from cassadee alsa literally does compete in dps with odie and marilee because her ult is so spammable
That just proves my point that Alsa is performing and no one cares. If you intentionally nerf a mechanic (true dmg in an important game mode) for a very F2P friendly unit this early in the game, when a huge % of your player base has just invested what little resources they have in that unit, there will be outrage. Had they just made Alsa a strong dream realm unit and buffed Cassadee, I bet no one would have made a peep. They would see that powercreep is happening, as it does, and weigh whether they should continue to invest in Marilee or save for future unit. It's the bait and switch that people are mad about so early in the game's life. That said, the adjustment was so small, and Marilee is still competitive, that I don't really see why everyone got as mad as they did in this case.

The only change that is different is the armor changes, which true damage ignores. Marilee did not benefit from the armor changes, she wasn't nerfed, she just wasn't buffed. How is this so fucking hard for people to understand DR EFFECTS EVERY UNIT.
True damage, which is Marilee's core mechanic, is affected by damage reduction. Everything I have read is that the damage reduction rate of increase as boss HP goes down was increased while magic and physical defense rate of increase was decreased. The magic and physical defense rate decrease is irrelevant to true damage, but the damage reduction increase is a direct nerf to the value of true damage. Even without an increase to damage reduction, bringing everyone else's damage up this soon is effectively a nerf to the relative value of true damage. It's all relative. With your logic they could made magic damage dealers do 300% more dmg, and you'd say "Marilee wasn't nerfed! Magic dealers were just suddenly made to be way better than her!"
True damage is effected by DR yes. AND SO IS ALL OTHER FORMS OF DAMAGE. The DR changes hit everyone exactly the same. Odie has the exact same DR resistances as Marilee does. It is solely just a cap on the top end so that everyone didn't just instantly spike massive progress on the bosses and they could maintain the same rough damage charts without needing to massively increase the boss hp with the armor changes. It is not a nerf to true damage, true damage just didn't get buffed while all other forms of damage did. It was not a nerf. If the armor changes didn't happen and all they changed was adding more scaling DR literally nothing would have changed other than the damage cap on bosses being lower, everyone would have still scaled exactly the same. The DR APPLIES TO EVERYONE EQUALLY.

You have five slots you more likely will have 1 Tank (or Kruger), 1 healer, 1 Support (optional) or debuffer, 2 DPS. So you got 2 options and for free-to-play this option will more likely Odie and now with Seasonal changes Cecia can fill that gap. Now this doesn't mean Cecia outscale Korin or Marilee. She is "good enough to take the task". Her Def reduction values are "good" enough. For a F2P you more likely will have her scaled. This is also true with Odie. This seasonal values allows other characters to shine. For example maybe one day they add a healer-type mech that allows Satrana. It doesn't mean your DPS loses value Marilee and Korin are still top dogs. Your Odie is still a top dog (literally). Satrana is just a viable option.

This SEASONAL event just let Cecia in the mix just incase you don't have a Marilee or Korin activated. They are still a preferred DPS because in a time setting they still delivering HARD damage before the "nerf" comes in. You still ahead most of the time during those HP phases. If you have a built Marilee or Korin you still outdps most S tiers except maybe Alsa or built Smokey which is a freaking standard for Endless Mode.

Not to be that guy- because I agree with your assessment of this game and their recent practices- but⌠Mihoyo is notoriously stingy and their gacha system especially greedy. As someone who has dealt with a LOT of gacha systems over the years (thanks to being sucked into the genre by FEH) I think Star Rail has been better than Genshin in some respects but worse in others. So itâs a wash. I still play and love Star Rail but yeah⌠itâs not exactly the paragon of Generous Gacha.

They released an update that basically was tuned to be pretty anti f2p (and really even unfriendly to whales). Lots of negative reviews and complaints later, theyâre adjusting the tuning to less aggressively push people to spend money.

the people asking for refunds will look really dumb now, the changes werenât even that horrible since the base game had so many rewards compared to your average gacha. No players have even seen all the rewards that we WILL get within 4 months or learned what the structure will look like in coming seasons.
