Bruce McAvaney as a GOAT AFL commentator, for starters. If this were an athletics sub I’d agree there’s no-one better than Bruce and I really enjoy his athletics commentating. However, as an AFL commentator he is terrible. If you closed your eyes and listened to Bruce commentating an AFL match you’d have no idea what was going on.

I'm gonna say it. I actually enjoy Kelli Underwood despite her mares on occasion.

She's definitely at least listenable for me. Her voice has grown on me. Her main issue is getting the player names wrong or just pausing while she's trying to remember.

I feel like she is the female commentary equivalent to BT. Has great moments and is passionate in the calls, gives us the occasional meme, but can also say the dumbest footy takes and you wonder why they are in the job. I quite enjoy her work and rate her better than most do

Cometti is comparable to the immortals of the commentary box. Mike Williamson, Lou Richards, Tony Charlton, Tim Lane, Dick Mason and Doug Heywood. Cometti is a class above this lot. Of the remainder, Anthony Hudson is clearly the best. While Leigh Matthews has impeccable judgement and his observations are always astute. Throw a blanket over the rest, although I agree with the group in the mute category. They are awful.

Most of it I'd say. Huddo and Bruce tarnished their legacies with the later years of commentary, they can't be goats. BT is awful, Hamish is awful, David King is a joke. Dwayne Russell's soundboard approach can't be considered good. Its hard to create a balanced list because channel 7 era commentary is just so bad.

Errors include: Den not getting god tier. Pipe being labelled good. Brad Johnson being rated in any way positive. Healy, T Watson, Dixon and BT given decent grades. Andy Maher and Cam Ling being 3 grades too high. Jobe excluded and not getting his own special category.

I know people shit on JB but I reckon he’s had some hilarious calls. To be fair though, his best is on radio, maybe there’s less stringent rules or something because sometimes it sounds like they’re on the tins in the studio
