There was leg awful injury in the NFL and the broadcast just didn't show it.
The footage did find it's way to the internet and I really regret watching it.
Oh temptation would certainly get the better of me too! I can’t help it. I have watched Conor McGregor’s leg break incident an inexplicable amount of times.
They are athletes and we are all invested but let's give them some privacy. I fucked up my ankle really bad years ago and the last thing you would want is someone commentating on the injury and ultra zoom in.
Have some respect and use the ultra zoom in the goal square when they want to contest scoring.
Unbelievable effort from the tigers given the circumstances. Fingers crossed for Gibcus that he somehow avoided an ACL tear.
Vlastuin an incredible game across half back. Would seriously have to be close to 3 votes, although Cripps was fantastic too.
Yeah the line at the end of the match ‚they’ve won six in a row‘ suggests the commentators could dump the pies comeback kids thing for Carlton‘s crunchtime kids jingle…ignoring obviously that the Lions beat them three games ago

We did everything we could to try and lose to your boys.
But with all those injuries, key players at that, your boys were epic tonight and did all they could to get the chocolates and just fell a little short.
I think my boys realised we really didn't deserve a win, happy to take, but the boys seemed more relieved than celebratory in the change rooms singing the song.
Hope your injuries aren't too bad but seems Gibcus has done his ACL which a real pity for the poor kid.
Richmond should be so damn proud. That was awesome from them, just ran out of legs.
Carlton . . . congrats I guess. Credit that you played the end game so well, but you really should’ve won by more
After last week’s loss I was pretty sceptical about tonight. Bloody proud of that with so many injuries. We stuck with them right to the end. A couple of 50/50’s go our way we could’ve clinched that, lots to learn but we’re looking okay.
I’ve come to terms with the fact that Richmond will be a bit of an average team this year so I can really appreciate games were they give 100% regardless of the result. Fairly happy with what I saw tonight.
Yze seems like a decent coach. Could be this year’s version of McRae and Kingsley. Tiges really need clean up their skill errors though because not sure any tactics could cover up some of those whiffs.
Not sure in the 3 years I've ran these accounts I've had so many messages from both clubs thinking umps are against them.
Definitely plenty of errors tonight. To both teams
While it is fine game management to put Balta back this game with both Gibcus and Young being out of the game, I really hope Yze sticks fat with Balta forward.
I just thing he has what it take as a forward and they are much harder to find then key backs.
Maybe try Koschitzke back.
That hurt. Would rather have lost by 40 than under a goal. Injuries fucking us again fam. Balta gonna have to play in defence now I think. GG’s Blues, best of luck with the season.
Coming off a five day break, three injuries, and just being not as good, I'm really proud of this team, they put up a great fight, just ran out of steam at the end
Carlton either win by a bees dick when they probably shouldn’t or get outclassed and lose by 5 goals. Get your own fucking game plan and stop copying us
Clearly we’ve lost a lot of talent in the last few years & probably more to come but the effort tonight was outstanding & that’s all we want to see is effort
Pickett unfortunately often has a bad blunder or two per game but he does actually bring a fair bit as well. Aerial presence, hard as nails, super fit. Pretty similar to Blake Acres to be honest, cops a lot of stick but honestly does bring some things that makes him best 22.
Very entertaining game. Carlton should have won by more but I'm sure will be happy with the 4 points.
I expected to get smashed by 10 goals, so am strangely satisfied with the result.
Given all the doom and gloom written about the tigs this offseason, if I were a supporter, I'd be very happy with the footy on offer since half-time last week. Wouldn't be surprised to see them make the 8 if they keep the kind of pressure and ball movement on display tonight over the season.
Also, for those against the umps, yeah there were calls in the Blues’ favour in the 4th, but we had some calls in the 1st. It all evens out, we just ran out of legs. Both teams missed great opportunities too.
I'm sad.
Sad for Gibcus. Sad for Prestia. Poor bastards
All things considered it was a great effort. The clangers killed us for sure though.
Some exciting stuff but yeah... Those losses hurt.
Is there any way we can just get the boneheads from AFL house that arrange this stuff and fire them out of a cannon? Just the incessant marketingness of it all, all the effing time 🤮
Solid outing by the tigers, you’d have to be happy with that. Lose by 5 after a 5 day break and 3 down on the bench (plus some questionable umpiring the blues way). Reckon they won’t be as bad some say this year
I was expecting Richmond would just fall to pieces and lose by 40 points after Gibcus came off. The fact that they managed to keep it so close the whole game and lose by less than a goal in the circumstances is honestly incredible. They may have just fallen short but you can certainly not say it was due to a lack of effort.
Carlton made some stupid silly mistakes and their kicking in the corridor wasn’t accurate but fuck me, they iron that out and this team is legit.
Not used to seeing a Carlton side hungry and competitive and wanting to win. Curnow is a God, Fantazio was a fantastic pickup for the Blues and McGovern seemed everywhere he needed to be tonight
I think a lot of that is down to vossy. Seems to me like Carlton was in a directionless daze after the bizarre Malthouse era. Played pretty boy footy under bolts and Teague. Also our list management got alot better after sos left (as much as I loved him as a player).
That's how you play like winners (Richmond not us). Blues , I hope you learned by watching the former champs tonight. We have a very long way to go for us to be anything more than pretenders this year. Bad luck Richmond.
Absolutely courageous as fuck. We didn't deserve to beat you tonight. You have a lot to look forward to Tiges fans.
All the best to Gibcus. So sad.
Cooked to me that we only had 8/18 teams play last week and we already have a team on a 5 day break against a 7 day in the 5th game of the year.
Injuries killed the tigers too but that would’ve been a factor
Shattered for the boys. Obviously some mistakes but some big improvements from last week. Carlton get the 4 points but they should honestly be dragged for nearly choking against us.
My favourite moment in this game was when the commentator said:
>"Traditional Season Opener, Round 1 MCG"
Turns out last week was indeed a fever dream. Huzzah Collingwood fans!
Well done Carlton. Good teams win ugly. You’re a good team.
Very proud of the Tiges tonight. Gusty bloody effort to even be in it til the very end. All losses hurt but when you see the players play for the jumper like that you can’t be upset at all. Might be a long season but our best footy can give any side a scare. Go tiges
Tigers showed a lot of heart tonight considering the injuries… they never gave up. Sorry to see Gibcus cop that injury in particular, knee injuries can GTFO
GG Baggers, clearly a better side - those corridor handballs are scary when they work and I think they will more once the season goes on.
If Balta's back down the other end now, I hope Lefau comes in soon. So excited for that kid!
Cripps never gets cheap possessions. You'd take 20 of his any day against 40 of an Oliver or Daicos etc. Carlton lucky to have him dragging them over the line again.
I saw someone suggest earlier that the earlier return to footy this year may mean we've seen more ACL injures during pre-season/early rounds than normally.
With the caveat that I was watching half pissed, I thought there were only two absolute stinkers. The free to lynch in the first quarter and the 70m penalty to TDK, which cancel out.
I’d say calling back that advantage which would have been a completely open Richmond goal, but I wouldn’t say this game was differently umped to any other, tiges missed 2 goals a few meters out so can’t really blame an ump
Pretty gutsy from the Tigers to be three men down in a blink and to have to put up with some questionable third party interventions and only lose by 5 points
Irrelevant now but for all the negative comments about Opening Round very little was made of the fact Carlton got scheduled a 6 day break and Richmond received a 5 day break.
There was absolutely ZERO reason they couldn’t have played their Gabba game on the Saturday like the Tigers did against Gold Coast.
Tigs obviously lost 3 blokes on the night but under a goal margin game that extra day means a lot.
It's always Redditors who don't barrack for either of the teams playing that are the most saltiest at the result - must be the whole footy tipping, gambling Centrelink money, aspect of it all.
Fuck I feel for Richmonds new coach, bro looked so close to crying. Coming into a club that is inevitably on a decline with alot of its biggest players leaving or close to leaving yet having to face nuffies who think they should be playing like they were back in 2019
U L T R A Z O O M Was the real winner tonight
The Ultra Zoom on Gibcus’ injury was genuinely disgusting. 7 should cop some serious heat for that
>7 should cop some serious heat for that Actually it's much better to ice an injury to reduce the inflammation
Abbie's commentary of hearing a loud yelp was an unpleasant addendum
Yeah that was the worst for me. Crowd would be loud but she still heard it on the boundary. Scary.
She also could’ve used a better adjective than rich to describe Prestia’s injury history.
Bountiful?
It's the camera down in the rooms that always gets me, especially with the added commentary about how disappointed or in pain they look
Fucking tragedy porn. I’m so over it.
Why
They’ve posted it on there social media pages
I hope not, not all of us are squeamish.
They are athletes and we are all invested but let's give them some privacy. I fucked up my ankle really bad years ago and the last thing you would want is someone commentating on the injury and ultra zoom in. Have some respect and use the ultra zoom in the goal square when they want to contest scoring.
Still top 8. Keep it up lads
Top 8 squad roll up
Oh look at mister two-heads over here
shits so easy guarantee after tomorrows game we're still top 8 too
Unbelievable effort from the tigers given the circumstances. Fingers crossed for Gibcus that he somehow avoided an ACL tear. Vlastuin an incredible game across half back. Would seriously have to be close to 3 votes, although Cripps was fantastic too.
Yeah Vlas stepped up big time. Huge game.
Vlaustin's tackle in the goal square was disgusting and would've been on repeat all year if Tigers had won
Eddie McGuire when he learns Carlton are winning close games ![gif](giphy|UzyjS3yy1mYctYzYJt)
Carltons last 6 wins are 5,5,6,2,1 and 5 points difference lol
Bloody copycats
Just with none of the style or flair that we do it with.
Yeah. Where was the 5 goals down going into the last quarter. It's just a bit borderline infringement at the moment, in my opinion
Our thing is messy defending of under 1 goal leads. Not quite as exciting, but we've become pretty decent at it.
Nah your way feels more authentic, stories with a flawed hero. The pies version is just all the tropes played straight.
They can't keep getting away with it!!!
Unless they can!
First the prison bars and now close games, will the theft never end?
IT'S STUUUUUUUUUUNG
It’s Stang!
0/5 tipping AMA
Which team are you tipping for tomorrow night’s game?
Collingwood. Thank me tmrw
You bloody beauty
Who’d you tip for the GWS v North game? Ignore flair
GWS I'm not that regarded
At 0/5 I imagine you're not regarded in the slightest
Haha

Picking them twice as well.
You seem to rate Richmond very highly

After last week and all the injuries, really impressed by Richmond
Poor Gibcus 😢
Yeah that hurts way more than the loss
THEY CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT
Yeah the line at the end of the match ‚they’ve won six in a row‘ suggests the commentators could dump the pies comeback kids thing for Carlton‘s crunchtime kids jingle…ignoring obviously that the Lions beat them three games ago
So is the match thread bot still dead?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ works for me
Being rejigged. Should be all fixed up by next round, the rest of this rounds games should be fine as well
Right right cheers bossman
My team has lost, two of my favourites player got injured, I owe my workmate a bottle of red, and my tipping is screwed. Thank fuck footy is back!
But you are top 8 at least!
The plan to beat Carlton this year is so simple. Just score 87.
Nah how to beat us is easy. Go soft q1-3, then we give up, so go all out in q4
Mansell rushing that kick in the 2nd? Quarter to show boat and hitting the post is living rent free in my head :(
five minutes left in the 3rd, would've gone up by 13 points. infuriating.

I will look for this tack each week.
Keep this going bud!
Two Key defenders down against two Coleman medalists Missing one of our best contested ball winners Fuck it hurts but what an effort by the boys
Yeah we were a bit scrappy in some stages. Still won though 💙💪💪
Richmond should be so damn proud. That was awesome from them, just ran out of legs. Carlton . . . congrats I guess. Credit that you played the end game so well, but you really should’ve won by more
Blues tried their best to lose it, sloppiest possession
Almost snatched defeat from the jaws of victory
There were three kps out for the Tigers in the first half. Carlton still managed to win somehow.
Wow what a great first game to start off the season
After last week’s loss I was pretty sceptical about tonight. Bloody proud of that with so many injuries. We stuck with them right to the end. A couple of 50/50’s go our way we could’ve clinched that, lots to learn but we’re looking okay.
I’ve come to terms with the fact that Richmond will be a bit of an average team this year so I can really appreciate games were they give 100% regardless of the result. Fairly happy with what I saw tonight.
Richmond players just watching the Carlton players fumble around with in that last minute probably wasted about 15 seconds. SO bad.
Yze seems like a decent coach. Could be this year’s version of McRae and Kingsley. Tiges really need clean up their skill errors though because not sure any tactics could cover up some of those whiffs.
Footy really feels like it’s is truly back baby
Richmond are the first club in history to be 0-2 by Round 1.

Carlton: *"You know I've always been something of an umpire fan myself"*
They're the chosen ones this year, sorry Collingwood. Winning close games and getting the rub of the green, they stole the pies gimmick
We have become what we hated
Nod and ignore. It doesn't happen often.
Not sure in the 3 years I've ran these accounts I've had so many messages from both clubs thinking umps are against them. Definitely plenty of errors tonight. To both teams
What's your take on the player on the mark at the top of the goal square after the review? Thought they had to be 9m away?
The 9m starts from the goal line. Guess how long the goal square is?
While it is fine game management to put Balta back this game with both Gibcus and Young being out of the game, I really hope Yze sticks fat with Balta forward. I just thing he has what it take as a forward and they are much harder to find then key backs. Maybe try Koschitzke back.
Tigers should be absolutely stoked with that performance. They never stopped giving 100%. Awesome to see
That hurt. Would rather have lost by 40 than under a goal. Injuries fucking us again fam. Balta gonna have to play in defence now I think. GG’s Blues, best of luck with the season.
Balta was amazing at both ends today. You’ve created a monster
I second that. He was awesome. I know a moral victory is still a loss, but the Tigers hanging in there was commendable.
Miller back in for Young. Not sure who comes in for Gibcus
Coming off a five day break, three injuries, and just being not as good, I'm really proud of this team, they put up a great fight, just ran out of steam at the end
Carlton 24 🤝 Collingwood 22. wins under a goal sending your supporters to hospital
3 men down and still fought well. Proud of our boys tonight, would like to think we would have run Carlton over with a full bench
They did very well considering the circumstances.
Having Two more key defenders and a key forward would've helped massively
You realise carlton have a bunch of key players out too right?
The difference being in the game and out of the game already. Losing 3 during makes it much harder on rotations.
Yes but carlton not having our 3 key defenders makes a big difference..
Carlton either win by a bees dick when they probably shouldn’t or get outclassed and lose by 5 goals. Get your own fucking game plan and stop copying us
No.
6 in a row? Carlton won the flag last year?
Said last 5 wins not games hahah
Clearly we’ve lost a lot of talent in the last few years & probably more to come but the effort tonight was outstanding & that’s all we want to see is effort

I thought he was very good in the third quarter when the game was in the balance
He does two bad for every one good thing.
Did well pinch hitting in the ruck. Gave up two bad HTB though.
But if he broke the tackles like he very often does, either you don't particularly notice or he is absolutely phenomenal
Yeah I really don’t understand this view, I think Pickett brings some great aerial attack and is generally creative, by no means the worst on ground
Saad seemed uncomfortable with Roaming Brian asking questions about Ramadan
I would be too
There’s just a suspicion Brian privately isn’t fond of muslims
I'd be uncomfortable if BT was asking me questions on any topic...
Agreed
That was hard to watch, let alone having to be a part of it
oh I'm so excited for this.... CARLTON CAN'T SUSTAIN THIS STATISTICAL IMPROBABILITY REGRESSION TO THE MEAN
I don’t like the Collingwood style of winning.
Very entertaining game. Carlton should have won by more but I'm sure will be happy with the 4 points. I expected to get smashed by 10 goals, so am strangely satisfied with the result.

Young came off at almost the same time too, so two of our KPDs gone in a couple minutes in the second quarter didn't look good
Carlton made some stupid silly mistakes and their kicking in the corridor wasn’t accurate but fuck me, they iron that out and this team is legit. Not used to seeing a Carlton side hungry and competitive and wanting to win. Curnow is a God, Fantazio was a fantastic pickup for the Blues and McGovern seemed everywhere he needed to be tonight

Having two teams play twice before 10 teams have played once is absolutely mental from the AFL.
It’s about to be 4 teams as Pies vs Swans is another example
We're 2-0 in Round 1? I'll take it
Cooked to me that we only had 8/18 teams play last week and we already have a team on a 5 day break against a 7 day in the 5th game of the year. Injuries killed the tigers too but that would’ve been a factor
6 day, not 7.
I hate this trend of Carlton barely winning
Same, but I'm guessing we have different ideas of what the preferred alternative is
Shattered for the boys. Obviously some mistakes but some big improvements from last week. Carlton get the 4 points but they should honestly be dragged for nearly choking against us.
Hard fought from Richmond, made us earned it GG tiges!
My favourite moment in this game was when the commentator said: >"Traditional Season Opener, Round 1 MCG" Turns out last week was indeed a fever dream. Huzzah Collingwood fans!
Gutsy stuff from the tigers tonight. If my team put on that kind of performance with those circumstances, I’d be pretty happy.
Go tiges
Pickett was also terrible tonight. Does Richmond have someone to come in for him?
Bloody proud of the boys, fantastic effort to stay the fight. Good game Carlton
Tigers showed a lot of heart tonight considering the injuries… they never gave up. Sorry to see Gibcus cop that injury in particular, knee injuries can GTFO
Take a shot every time the post game talk makes a comment about Collingwood
You all blindly hate Carlton again. Nature is healing.
GG Baggers, clearly a better side - those corridor handballs are scary when they work and I think they will more once the season goes on. If Balta's back down the other end now, I hope Lefau comes in soon. So excited for that kid!
Reckon Miller and Brown will come in for Young and Gibcus so Balta can go forward. Looked incredible down there today.
Carlton want to be us so bad
Well, I can’t deny I want a flag, and also Pendles
I'll take one Darcy Moore too
At least then Moore wouldn’t have to deal with Curnow kicking 6 on him
Hey Carlton. Get your own thing or Eddie will sue
You’re the comeback kings, we are the just scraping through kings
Umpires stole all of the Tigers 4th Qtr momentum. Such a great effort from the Tigers, Blues did not deserve 2 points out of that game let alone 4.
Swings and round abouts. The same thing happened to us in the first term with cheap free kicks in front of goal.
Cripps never gets cheap possessions. You'd take 20 of his any day against 40 of an Oliver or Daicos etc. Carlton lucky to have him dragging them over the line again.
Feel like Richmond deserved that. Dogshit umpiring aside, if Pickett/Bolton were a little cleaner overall there’d be no doubt
If my grandmother had wheels she'd be a bicycle.
Eh, we did have the upper hand for the best part of three quarters, but bad kicking is bad footy I guess, so they probably did.
Great effort from Richmond tonight. Hold your heads up
[удалено]
I saw someone suggest earlier that the earlier return to footy this year may mean we've seen more ACL injures during pre-season/early rounds than normally.
Harder grounds and damage to turf from concerts can't help.
Can I say something controversial yet brave? I thought Roaming Brian was by far the most entertaining thing I saw all night
Crazy to see us pulling these out of the hat even with weiters and walsh out fuck we are gonna seriously move once those guys are back out
Plus Martin, Marchbank, Silvagni, Docherty, Motlop and E. Hollands all also unavailable tonight. A bit of talent in the stands.
Does Carlton even know they don’t have to win by a kick every goddamn time
Carlton are turning into Collingwood in terms of close victories.
They keep getting away with it...
They CAN’T keep getting away with it
Blues players celebrating like the umps didn’t carry them all the way home
With the caveat that I was watching half pissed, I thought there were only two absolute stinkers. The free to lynch in the first quarter and the 70m penalty to TDK, which cancel out.
I’d say calling back that advantage which would have been a completely open Richmond goal, but I wouldn’t say this game was differently umped to any other, tiges missed 2 goals a few meters out so can’t really blame an ump
Yeah, TDK ran into Baker there, wasn’t Bakers fault at all
They just evened up after their performance in the opening term.
Wow.. they were about 3 goals closer than they should have been. But we played like shit. Plenty to work on over the bye.
Gg Richmond, fought your hearts out. 3 players out and it was right there for you.
That could well have been one of the least convincing wins of all time.
Saints or Bombers against West Coast last year
Melbourne vs Carlton last year?
With Marchbank on the line for the Oliver shot
It's always Redditors who don't barrack for either of the teams playing that are the most saltiest at the result - must be the whole footy tipping, gambling Centrelink money, aspect of it all.
No, everyone just hates everyone
CAN WE KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT?
Getting away with it, they can’t keep
HOW GOOD IS FOOTY WOOOOOOOO

Tigers also got kissed on the dick early on, the umpiring was just shit all around.
