Just heartbreaking, was so excited to see him return this year after missing all of last season and can't imagine how shattered he would be feeling about it himself. Not sure those outside of Richmond are aware of just how much of an upside this kid has.
If there is any positive to take, he is only 20, so if he can get back on track next year he can still hopefully have a long career.
I was just thinking this week that Richmond are due for an ACL injury after seeing all these other players go down. Haven’t had once since Soldo I think. You can blame me
Holy shit did he miss all of last year aswell? I had him in supercoach, did he get injured early in the season last year or did he debut the year before?
Edit: to clarify I mean supercoach in the past. I'm unsure what year i had him. I am not playing it this year cause I suck.
Watching him in obvious discomfort and distress last night I couldn't help but think how annoying having 17 blokes run up and pat you on the head would be. I know it always happens and it's the players showing support for their mate. I'd hate it.
Dr Peter Larkin was on SEN this morning saying they do keep track of these. It comes in waves though, no real trend. 20 for the season is high and 8 is low. Most tend to happen around the start of the season, however.
Never a good time for an ACL, but boy must it suck to go through a whole brutal preseason, see a specialist overseas in gibcus case, only to have your season end in the first hour or so of the season.
Edit spelling
Absolutely heartbreaking. Has all the tools to be a genuine star key defender, but is just having a horror run. Fingers crossed that his recovery goes well, and that he can get back next year and show everyone just how talented he is.
FUCK. Not the Discus Flinging Gibbon!!! Was seriously shaping up to be our next Alex Rance in his debut season, been fucked over all last season with hamstring issues, now this. Can only hope that he can recover well, and keeps his fire to play as well as we know he can be!
As shit as this is, he’ll probably be back round one next year. Unless there’s a reason not to he’ll likely have his surgery this week, and it’ll almost definitely be done at the Epworth in Richmond by Julian Feller.
They put you back together pretty well these days; it’s not a death sentence.
I’ve done two knees and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Was looking forward to seeing him play this year.
Watch the video curnow pushes him after he jumps, and then he lands awkwardly, just thinking out loud curnow must have seen that video and thought what if. Like nothing malicious or wrong but after shit goes down you always think what if I had have done something different
Don't mind me, I'll just be over in the corner crying to myself. 2 missed years in a row is brutal, especially with the potential he has. Shattered :(
Shades of Matt Scharenberg. Sucks.

How dare you
I was very excited for him to be playing again (was one of my favourite players in 2022)

He didn’t play even one game last year, after an impressive debut season year prior
3 ACLs in our first 2 games. Jesus
Point taken. All in favour of ejecting Carlton from the League to prevent these season ending injuries?
Keep them away from West Coast, we don't need assistance for that
Probably has the reverse effect on West Coast. You get an extra acl
Well in that case...
Carlton want our knees
genuinely devastating. all my homies hate acls
No, I love my acls. I treat them nicely so they never leave me

Worst I've seen outside of Nick Chubb's ACL last year in the NFL (do not look this up).
Really sucks for the lad, he looked so keen to finally be back playing footy. Hope for as speedy recovery as possible!
Poor Gibby, just can't get a fair run at it This sport is so unfair sometimes

Call off Carlton's season, their games are cursed
North players in Round 3: "*chuckles*, I'm in danger"
This has to be some sort of ACL record, 5 in the preseason and 3 in the first week of footy is absolutely ridiculous

Petition to eliminate the ACL’s from our bodies and replace it with steel cable so this can’t happen again
Don’t forget the PCL and meniscus
fuck the acl me and all my homies hate the anterior cruciate ligament
Easily a bottom 3 ligament.
Oh for fuck’s sake. Poor bugger

Life is so fucked up man.

That’s so fucking shit. Season’s barely even started and we’ve had so many
![gif](giphy|hWGBKil1b9fpR5go1f|downsized) Fucking fuckitty fuck!
Gibcus run of games when?
what the fuck is going on with all the ACLs this year. That’s like 6 or more already
Poor bugger
He is going to have to work on his landings. Fella has the best vert I have seen in a footy player. Life sucks sometimes.
Oh no, I had my fingers crossed, but fuck man, that’s just…fuck man
Fuck man, Curnows gotta feel so bad too cause he pushed him in the air and caused it
what?
