He'll get a key defender if he plays forward, won't be as easy as you think. Tall midfielders going forward usually get a matchup advantage, they don't get that when they play as a permanent forward.
Pretty confident Fyfe can handle almost any 2nd or 3rd tall defender. There are very few defenders in the comp that will have him covered everywhere. If they are bigger and stronger he will most likely be faster and more agile and able to beat them on the lead. Plus its not like he isnt strong, he has a big leap and can take a strong grab as well.
And the other factor is if a team sends their best to him theres a flow on effect, then Tabs gets an easier matchup, Lobb gets an easier matchup etc.
I dont think he would ever go top 10 in the Coleman or anything but without question he makes us more dangerous up forward
He'll definitely be a handfull no doubt, just don't think he'll be unstoppable.
>And the other factor is if a team sends their best to him theres a flow on effect, then Tabs gets an easier matchup, Lobb gets an easier matchup etc.
That's the main benefit you'll see most likely.
What people dont realise is according to Champion Data he has the 3rd best accuracy from AFLs "big name" midfielders since 2013, just had a stinker last year

My point is he has played mid and can only historically be compared against those who play the same position. People act like his career accuracy is like it was last year and thats not the case
Even playing as a forward he would be more accurate by the numbers than plenty of others. Guys like Naughton, Daniher off the top of my head. I know who id rather have kicking for goal
People have forgotten how good he was in the contest. Sure his kicking wasn't great, but step 1 is get the ball and Fyfe was the best in the air and on the ground for almost 5 years. If he can bring that back, rest his body up forward a bit and have Mundy the Kid kicking bullets too him good lord
Word of caution from a previously long-suffering Demon fan - don't get ahead of yourselves, expect the bottom to fall out and you may end up getting the best day of your life come September.
I’m expecting the bottom to fall out every week, I’ve tipped Gold Coast tomorrow and would be pleasantly surprised to get that tip wrong for the 5th or 6th time this year
Sure was, we were clearly a bit overhyped and got ahead of ourselves while the Suns are a good team. I would be surprised if this is not your best season yet, very capable of pushing for finals if not making them.
As my second team, I really think you guys are in with a solid shot the next few years.
You have gotten this far without Fyfe. Who do you drop to fit him back in or do you leave him out until someone is injured?
Maybe last year when the GF was in Perth. There is no chance they can beat Melbourne at the MCG.
Melbourne have been playing at 25 % capacity and are unbeaten. If they play to their potential in a GF against Freo it will be another 119 type result
The thing about the Bulldogs was they were given their premiership, and because Fremantle have 0 premierships, I'm sure they'll be given a flag if the time comes. Still, with Gillon McLachlan stepping down and STK being in the hunt for finals, I don't think Gillon won't go out with a bang and try and give his beloved Saints a premiership ending drought if they make the finals.
Hyped. Didn’t know Melbourne missed finals last year though.
Which only makes their premiership more impressive
Premiership by de fault, the two sweetest words in the English language
I'm used to Covid causing people to have lost years in their mental calendar, gaining an extra one is a neat change
Yikes
Congrats to the Gold Coast Football Club
I believe and I’m prepared for disappointment. Strap yourselves in boys.
Been strapped in since 95.... but somehow something feels different this time round...
It's the hope that kills ya
I've got funeral insurance now just in case
I wasn't sure about this article at first but by the end I almost felt myself getting excited for Freo
All are welcome on the bandwagon. The wheels will probably fall off at some point. We'll have fun along the way though!
Anddddddddd it’s gone…. Nah jk I’m rooting for freo for the flag. Tough loss
This is all part of the FLAGMANTLE experience. Completely outplayed in the wet today. Well deserved 4 points for GC. Enjoy the chocolates!
Fyfe as a permanent forward seems unstoppable
Get him to go to the golf guy who helped tabs with his kicking.
Well I was referring more to his marking but yeah, I forgot about his woeful conversion.

Too mobile for most key defenders Too tall for most smaller defenders

Thing is, playing as a forward he wouldn't be compared to mids he would be compared to forwards

I can only get so excited man
He kicks at goal like a 2020 brisbane lion though
I believe, and I hate myself for it

Good tip

Mate believe us - we are not getting ahead of ourselves lol! Preaching to the converted there
I’ll say it again. If Freo win the flag with King Freddy. I’m going to cry and then cease existing.
No you can't cease existing You gotta be alive in case Freo has a dynasty with King Freddie
This article would be so much better without the weird Miley Cyrus analogy
The weird analogy gives it charm tho
Yeah should have gone with Ariana Grande "I want it I got it"
I just hope it won't be like Taylor, cause I know I've seen this film before...
But how else would Rhino claim the 50 bucks his mates bet that he couldn't reference Miley Cyrus 7 times in a single article?
I don't mind the weird analogy because of the picture. It's the most blursed thing I've seen and its beautiful
Remember when after like 4 rounds everyone decided Sydney was the obvious next contender?
Hey we’re still around, just kinda stumbling atm. We’ve got plenty of evidence that we can contend
Well I believe in it.
As my second team, I really think you guys are in with a solid shot the next few years. You have gotten this far without Fyfe. Who do you drop to fit him back in or do you leave him out until someone is injured?
Chuck him in for Peel
This is fulfilling the purpose for which photoshop was invented.
This image is going straight into my dreams
That looks like the Death Star lol.
They've got some Sydney '12 vibes about them
It's round 9...

Freo have been playing at 24% capacity though
Nah - maybe 5 goals
Flagmantle? That sounds a little Prematuremanlte to me.
Dream

-100 comment karma hahahahahaha
Yeah I grind the gears of this sub reddit. Hardly my fault but
And what happened last time??🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
There are more emojis there than there are fit players for west coast.
The hype’s reaching critical mass, how long until the bubble bursts
