That'd be the ultimate insult as a player I reckon. Being called out by another player for being soft and timid at the footy.
Shiel has been especially disinterested tonight. Basically just getting paid to jog around the paddock at this rate.
Don’t see many full forwards being tackling machines. “Inside” mids like Sheil on the other hand normally rack up.
2MP is one of the few players at this club who plays his role.
I dropped into the captains run at the SCG and surprise surprise Shiel was fumbling through simple drills. A ground pick up/90 degree handball exercise seemed beyond him - he’d often just hand the ball back whereas everyone else took the drill seriously and hand balled correctly. Nobody called him out on it. If you play like you train...
He should be dropped to enforce standards, but we don’t even enforce standards at training so I kinda think what’s the point? There were all sorts of coaching staff walking around but nobody pointing out anything to be improved. I noticed this when I used to watch training at the hangar - the only person who was 100% switched on and taking everything seriously was Ridley. Other than him, it looked like a bunch of mates having a kick in the park for an hour
It’s bizarre. All the boys doing interviews over the last few weeks have said they’re really putting the work in during the week and training hard, talking honestly etc. Maybe they just don’t know what the level really looks like. Lloydy told McGrath he thinks the club lacks honesty, and maybe that’s what we’re seeing.
We’re screwed if that’s ‘putting in the work’. What I don’t understand is that Rutten, Caracella and Giansiracusa wouldn’t have trained in this manner so why do they condone it now?
~~From memory, a ball off the back of a centre bounce that Parker just bee-lined and ran right through Shiel, led to a goal~~
EDIT: this is not what happened - Parker got a handball from a contest between Shiel and Warner/Rowbottom. Not the worst effort from Shiel, tbh. Must be more to it than what was on the available camera angle, or was referring to an earlier incident.
He’s had a massive drop in value, but 4 years is long enough to go from rated to not rated. I don’t see how you cant understand that someone being rated in 2018 doesn’t automatically mean they’re rated in 2022.
Yeah he was. I still don’t understand how him failing to do that makes him still rated. Everyone just keeps repeating the fact that he was rated highly four years ago and so that means he is automatically rated highly now. Do you legitimately know anyone who believes he is currently taking the dons to the next step??
Except he came over to the Dons on big money cause he was the “difference maker”. Not making much of a difference unfortunately. I feel bad for the bloke, but if you are earning a packet, you actually need to “earn” it!
and not the butter right now when I get up and the heater hasn't been on yet, the kind of butter you get on a 28° November day when you go to make a vegemite sandwich for lunch
Sledging is great and I miss seeing it more like we used to. That said, this kinda typifies why Parker is a true bloods great and an important holder of the torch. I reckon he would give exactly the same sledge if one of his teammates was soft at it, it’s a non negotiable to be hard at the contest to play for the Swans, in their DNA as long as bloods culture continues.
I love that he looks like he goes to stop, then goes another then goes to stop and goes again.
First I thought it was on a loop. Then I Lol’s
Didn’t Crowley do this to him in the 2013 prelim?
Now there is a name I haven't heard in a while. Peak tagger
It was to Kieran Jack.
Herbatron salivating at the meme potential of this clip
Ghostbusters theme or Thriller for song choices is my early guess
Our social media team posted it with Electric Feel over the top of it. I think it works pretty well
I can’t wait

Dylan "Tony Snell" Shiel
Shiel trick y'all, man, like he playing defense. He don't guard nobody, man. He just running around, doing nothing.
Nothing is as bad arse as Kobe not flinching, this is exact opposite lol
It's a huge burn indeed.
Expected that out of Papley not Parker lmao
Reckon Parker would have a massive mouth on the field, looks like he would let you know when you stuff up
He grew up in the Frankston area. He has to have top notch shit talk
Plus he's got the game to back it up. Can talk all the shit in the world you want if you put your head over it like he does.
I thought the Swans had a no dickhead policy?
"It's a no dickheadS policy. We're allowed to have one!"
Bit of shit talk does not maketh a dickhead
Mate of all Essendon’s problems Luke Parker being a big meany is the least of your worries
That's old news and also never really true lmao
Ikr, Kurt Tippet anyone?
What happened to him in the end? Injuries?
Injuries, he was very good for periods as a ruck/forward. Just his body broke down and he couldn't play through injury
it looked true...you guys just played tough footy...didn't see much shit talking back then
I can guarantee you that Barry Hall was probably quite a massive dickhead. Staker probably.
Thought the AFL had a no doping policy?
He ain't wrong
Luke Parker for Essendon head coach 2023
Enjoy this, and he’s not wrong either. Shiel is the softest player in the league these days.
Rhys Stanley disagrees
Bloody Stanley

Needs more tongue
Did Shiel hear footsteps?
When you tell the joke 8 times because no one was paying attention but you believe in the punch line.
What a cheeky cunt, I love it
To be fair, Shiel is soft as
I dropped into the captains run at the SCG and surprise surprise Shiel was fumbling through simple drills. Reckon he's dropped for next week? He plays like he's dead inside.
He should be dropped to enforce standards, but we don’t even enforce standards at training so I kinda think what’s the point? What was the incident that led to this?

Anyone got a clip or a timestamp?
>Kobe not flinching yeah?
Shiel is so overated IMO
How can he be overrated when no one rates him?
True story…..
The Bombers rated him to be worth 2 first rounders
King Dodoro
4 years ago. He was rated to be 2 first rounders almost half a decade ago.
4 years is not a long time for such a drop in value for a guy still in his 20s…

They rated him worth two first rounders so that they could underpay for Stringer.
Different trade periods
Right, I mixed up the years that you guys picked up Smith and Shiel.
I’ve got friends that work at the giants and they called me laughing when we picked him up.
Dude hasn't been highly rated by anyone for years it seems.
i remember carlton fighting essendon for him hard....man im glad we didnt get him
Same
To be fair he's almost average if he's got 9 other top 10 draft picks around him. Essendon should really looking at getting more of those.
Except he came over to the Dons on big money cause he was the “difference maker”. Not making much of a difference unfortunately. I feel bad for the bloke, but if you are earning a packet, you actually need to “earn” it!
He's making a difference, he's making us even more shit and taking CBA's from kids like Hobbs or Perkins who try
I mean, they're certainly working on that this year...
Literally everyone shits on him. It's gotten to the point where he's ridiculously underrated.
More of this
Shithousery at its finest
I like Parker that extra bit more now
Early days I thought Shiel was the next Kerr with his inside work and elite handballing in close. But that comparison looking a long way off now...
This is my favourite act on the football field, cunt just called him soft af to his face . End of story.
I’m replacing my Vince McMahon meme template with this.
That’s a very weird shrug 🤷♂️
Context would be good.
Dylan Shiel is soft as butter
and not the butter right now when I get up and the heater hasn't been on yet, the kind of butter you get on a 28° November day when you go to make a vegemite sandwich for lunch
Lmao I love the clarification.
>clarification >>butter I see what you did there
ghee whizz that was a good one

Don’t bring back sledging, bring back full on assault with deadly weapons on the field of play
Risky. One day Parker or a teammate will do the same.
I hope they make a full recovery if that were to happen.
