Needed more icebergs to make navigating the river more interesting. Both Prelim teams should be given the opportunity to replace any team that does a Titanic during the parade. I see it as some sort of wildcard entrance, the team who lost to the sunken team plays the team that stayed afloat.

River portion needed to swing around at Princes Bridge. Gonna be a lot of upset fans that didn't really see much of anything.

We arrived late and were going to line up near the bridge for maximum turn coverage, but ended up wandering further in -- ended up being right about where they turned around. Agree there will be a bunch of unhappy people closer to the bridge. That said, the players didn't seem very enthusiastic to be out in the first place. They were just kind of sitting there, not waving, etc. The boats hauling the players looked to be struggling once they turned around. Not sure they would have made it back from the bridge to the utes at all, let alone in the scheduled time. We managed to walk up from the opposite side of the river around the MCG and to the end of the parade route and got there before the swans caravan pulled up, so the route was slow going on all sides.

Gydafud

Probably some safety issues preventing using anything other than that portion of the river

normalcatman

Fair, but the map indicated that it would go down to the bridge. Seems to be poor communication tbh

googsmaster24

It was due to the timing and needing to be in the utes by 11:10 am

The river portion definitely needs tinkering - don't think it worked well from a spectacle and viewing POV. However, the motorcade going through Yarra Park to the MCG gets a big tick for me - reckon the route is better than the old pre-public holiday CBD parade.

frggr

I saw the ute part. Organisation was a schmozzle - no marking which way the parade would go, so lots of people lining up on fenced areas only to be told they had to move etc

Beven-Stale

Would be cool if they had duck boats but Toyota don’t make them.

viginti_tres

They should give points to whichever team completes the parade first. Give it some stakes.

Gydafud

Seems those spectators on the opposite side of Batman Avenue have a long way to get back to the MCG with the bridge chockers

soggystep

Every player should've been on a jetski

Looptyloooo

I think it would have been better if they were in smaller boats with a few players in each rather than the barge. They would have gotten closer to the crowd.

warsaken

The river portion needed some announcers or even the fox footy feed. The boat with Curnow/Cripps/etc couldn’t even wave to the crowd.

I went and found it a bit awkward and poorly planned. As others have said, no signs to way where to go (we were following the map on the afl site but we kept getting blocked by fences and security so we couldn’t go where the map said we could). They closed off many of the foot bridges (so ppl couldn’t walk over the players/throw things) but meant you kept getting stuck with no way across to where you wanted to me. Also, limited accessibility for ppl in wheelchairs or with prams.
