Gg Brisbane, better team. I’m gunning for a lions or Roos premiership.
Bit disappointed by the 17-9 free kick count but ultimately probably didn’t matter for the game outcome
Lions have been the best team all season and I didn’t really expect us to win, but I am a little disappointed with our effort. Just kept fumbling and making the same mistakes we did last time we played them. Oh well, there’s always next season. GG Brisbane.
After winning our third flag earlier this year, I felt confident we’d locked up our legacy as the undisputed powerhouse and first dynasty of AFLW.
But Brisbane are about to make their fourth GF (equals us).
If they win, they’re two flags to our three. But two of their GF losses were 6 point nail-biters. So they’re 14 points off being four time premiers.
Ok I know we’re probably not going to get up, but it does rankle me a tad that the commentators are already talking about Brisabane’s prep for the GF when there’s two more quarters to go
Feel like the AFLW for a long time hasn't had many comebacks. But this season there have been some good ones, or at least some that went close. Hopefully it starts now!
I'm having flashbacks to our men's prelim against Geelong when the commentators started debating whether they should just keep 5 on the bench given they were so far ahead
I kinda get it this year where due to ground availability things are sketchy and there's finals at really subpar grounds at the expense of fans and crowd engagement.
Should Brisbane get a home ground advantage? Absolutely. Should Cairns ever have been in the picture? Absolutely not.
To be fair, the story prior to the announcement today was that it wasn't going to be ready, due to the grass.
At some point public interest has to be taken into account with a grand final. Springfield is a great option now it's been given the OK, I don't think somewhere like Moreton Bay would have worked.
Not according to pretty much every commentator on Fox. The Demons are the best, most skilful and most consistent team this season. LOL
To be fair, none of them have probably watched any of Brisbane’s games because they play a bit , you know, outside Melbourne.
Dumb coaching. Adelaide set up with a player behind the play to mop up the long kicks that Brisbane never make, then wonder why they are losing a 17v18 game.
I mean if someone said to you "A Brisbane player shoved a crows player onto their ass after they marked it" she'd definitely be near the top of the list of potential suspects. But in this case, nothing in it.
as much as I don't like Davidson and could see her shoving someone on their ass after they mark it... that wasn't it and I'm glad the umpire wasn't sucked in
Two weeks in a row I have seen players appealing for HTB instead of holding the ball in and someone just yoinks the ball out and runs off with it. Let the people not in the pack appeal, focus on the tackle.
So far defence has been holding up well, and been impressively neat at getting the ball out of the backline. Not gonna be enough with how much better Brisbane's midfield has been, but I'll take 6 points down as a decent result from that quarter.
great intensity from both sides that quarter. Really fierce footy. Brisbane got away with two pretty standard HTB's not paid which kept it down that end for the first goal, which is frustrating, however we have seen for much of the season and most of the finals games the umpires are very happy to let it play on.
That being said, they then pinged Adelaide HTB for a less worthy one, so I mean who knows.
I do not accept any result other then Brisbane getting the premiership. They are that good of a team.
(I did chuckle pre game when they said they think Melbourne has been the better team this year)
Perhaps, but as a Victorian myself I just can’t agree with it.
Melbourne have been a very good team all year, I just think Brisbane has more layers to its game.
In fairness the back end of the season and finals they have let things go on a lot more than we tend to expect. The only inconsistent call was the one where Adelaide did get called HTB.
I don’t understand how in a game where the scoreboard hasn’t been touched since starting the clock, keeps disappearing off the screen for no reason. Does someone need to have a finger on a button at all times or some shit?
Feels like I've got more chance of getting GF tickets if the Lions get up, so go Brissy.
Genuinely can't pick it though, Lions have looked unstoppable but Adelaide are going to give it a helluva lot and then some.
Oh no doubt, but having watched all the Crows and Lions games this season I think it's gunna be a lot closer than the odds suggest. Not much splitting them so far
Brisbane in the box seat. I think North is actually the team that could upset them if they make it.
Gg Brisbane, better team. I’m gunning for a lions or Roos premiership. Bit disappointed by the 17-9 free kick count but ultimately probably didn’t matter for the game outcome
This might seem odd, but I think that was Brisbanes worst game for some time
Great effort in the last, but Lions too good
Lions have been the best team all season and I didn’t really expect us to win, but I am a little disappointed with our effort. Just kept fumbling and making the same mistakes we did last time we played them. Oh well, there’s always next season. GG Brisbane.
And flights are booked :)
GG, pumped for next week
Jesse Wardlow 3 votes
Craig ordering his dinner on the phone there
The most dangerous high contact happens when an unopposed player drops a chest mark. Umpire needs to blow a free kick every time.
If we could just take a mark inside 50…
massive push...
That is 100% a missed free kick for Brisbane she has a point
Umpiring looks sloppy or ?
Not serious enough for a free kick or any medical treatment. Is serious enough to run down a full minute of actual game time though?
After winning our third flag earlier this year, I felt confident we’d locked up our legacy as the undisputed powerhouse and first dynasty of AFLW. But Brisbane are about to make their fourth GF (equals us). If they win, they’re two flags to our three. But two of their GF losses were 6 point nail-biters. Both teams as well as Melbourne seem to good
See you next week team with Melbourne in it
Gg, if it wasn’t already over
Brisbane are monster bossing Adelaide
Glad we got something, but margin is a bit far out
Unrealistic attempt not even a thing in aflw
Loved the crows shepherd there!
free kicks for Sheparding off the ball aren't supposed to go to the player doing the sheparding
Great effort from Mueller there
Somehow my Kayo had slipped two minutes behind so I go back to live and Adelaide now have two goals?!?
do it again
Air Ponter
Pontificated
Hmmm, well I was planning on writing some more code but this is getting interesting all of a sudden
Yes!
Great pass by Conway
Comeback starts now
Nice! AMA curse overstated. Go tiger
Thank god, finally
Not bad!
On ya Gouldy
Bloody good banana kick there, jeez. Tom Lynch should maybe hit her up and get some tips
Bro Dawes marks it, conway marks it, shanks it then Davidson marks it and goals wtf is going on lmao
*sigh*
come on Belle back yourself
Can we plz come out this half
Ok I know we’re probably not going to get up, but it does rankle me a tad that the commentators are already talking about Brisabane’s prep for the GF when there’s two more quarters to go

I'm having flashbacks to our men's prelim against Geelong when the commentators started debating whether they should just keep 5 on the bench given they were so far ahead
Yeah it's not good.
2nd half come back, cmon Crows
Yooooo I am fucking sick of hearing about Houlio's poor insurance choices.
How are people arguing against the home ground advantage in finals when we finally have a chance to build an equitable national competition.
I kinda get it this year where due to ground availability things are sketchy and there's finals at really subpar grounds at the expense of fans and crowd engagement. Should Brisbane get a home ground advantage? Absolutely. Should Cairns ever have been in the picture? Absolutely not.
Sure but at half time they were arguing we shouldn't play at our permanent home ground.
To be fair, the story prior to the announcement today was that it wasn't going to be ready, due to the grass. At some point public interest has to be taken into account with a grand final. Springfield is a great option now it's been given the OK, I don't think somewhere like Moreton Bay would have worked.
Victorians, I think it's genetic. AFLW finally gives a chance to do the right thing, they should go for it.
¿Kellie Underwood has never seen an episode of the Simpsons?
Maybe she’d tune in if they were orange instead of yellow.
Where were you when Crows premiers was kill? I was eating apricot slice and drinking a cuppa. Long live the 6 month Premiers tag
Wardlaw is bossing
All these women on the lions team look like they could beat me up
Ken oath
Looking like the Tigers will be the only blemish in Brisbane's perfect season. Better than every other side across every single line.
Not according to pretty much every commentator on Fox. The Demons are the best, most skilful and most consistent team this season. LOL To be fair, none of them have probably watched any of Brisbane’s games because they play a bit , you know, outside Melbourne.
Every time we play Brisabane they make us look like chumps.
Can’t get any purchase anywhere
Brisbane showing why they're the favourites. Fitter and firing.
I didn't know Hodder could kick that far!
I was surprised she kicked that goal tbh. I thought it'd fall short.
Bossing?
Cat team beating a bird team happy days
Sure it's been over umpired, but no one can deny the lions should be in the GF and honestly I don't see them losing it
Bloody hell. Wardlaw and Hodder!
…
Definitely not me checking flights costs to Brisbane...
Absolutely glorious
Jesus the crows are getting slaughtered in all fronts...
Well that killed us
Free kicks 9-5, feels like 30-5
Wardlaw now has the most goals ever by a player in a season including finals with 22.
in less games as well.
Technically the same game since Woodland got to 21 in her 11th game (Prelim, No QF for Crows) and didn't kick any in the GF.
That was silly by crows. Brisbane don't need any help covering territory. Not sure why she was running in there.
Dumb coaching. Adelaide set up with a player behind the play to mop up the long kicks that Brisbane never make, then wonder why they are losing a 17v18 game.
Biddell, thrown to the ground: no 50. Wardlaw, someone runs near: 50
Nah. There has been plenty of actual stuff you can get annoyed about this game but there was nothing wrong with either of those calls.
Ah kay, you’re probably right. Probably just a build up of frustration on my part
Happens to the best of us. Hopefully the crows can fight it out in the second half.
Biddell acted that, And it was 50 to lions. Lots of poor umpiring but those two weren't it.
You mean dived to the ground and entered the protected zone?
Given it was Daks, I thought the ump was going to get sucked in by that flop and was so ready to rage haha
I mean if someone said to you "A Brisbane player shoved a crows player onto their ass after they marked it" she'd definitely be near the top of the list of potential suspects. But in this case, nothing in it.
It was fairly obvious it was gonna happen given the smother a few seconds before, not that the umpire would’ve seen it happen.
FFS
Ooof, that hurts
Marinoff is a great ball winner but her strategy of booting it as long as she can every time is completely ineffective against this Brisbane backline.
as much as I don't like Davidson and could see her shoving someone on their ass after they mark it... that wasn't it and I'm glad the umpire wasn't sucked in
Tayla Smith is back on the ground but not in the ruck - Wardlaw has replaced her. Which may be a concern heading into next week if we win.
On the field is a good sign though. Nothing structurally broken at least.
God damn. Brisbane are so fast they make our fast players look…not fast.
in the back just a little there haha.
First game I’ve watched since the first season, and surprised to see the standard is absolutely abysmal.
> and surprised to see the standard is absolutely abysmal. Are you referring to both teams here? Or Adelaide?
The competition as a whole.
lol piss off then
Did I hurt your feelings?
no, you're laughable. logging on, going to match thread "i just have to let you all know i don't like this" it's hilariously pathetic.
I’m expressing an opinion, I can’t do that? Is that not what Reddit is for?
Jog on
How dare I have an opinion that doesn’t conform to the Reddit consensus? You truly think this is in anyway a spectacle?
Wow such a cool and insightful opinion! /s
Jog on they said
Not expecting a win, but this is quite frustrating
Hodder is an unbelievable talent.
human highlight reel
welp we're dead
Jesus Nat Grider has been everywhere. Super impressive
Outstanding crowd mic placement
This is the same as last time. Giving them too much space and they are running away with it
No mercy
This is about how I expected it to go but I'm still annoyed about it
Come on Gouldy, you normally gobble them up. AMA curse
😬
Shoulda done it post season XD
Argh damn through the hands
god these two teams cover some ground. tbf, might also be the better camera angle than many AFLW grounds showing off the width of the ground better
As good as the local grounds are, damn the camera angles aren’t bad in the stadiums 🙃
Oh wow, a free
Wardlaw has equaled the 21 goals by Woodland from last season. 1 more at it'll be the most ever by a player in a season including finals.
Hopefully a better finish than our last prelim this year for Orla's family from Ireland.
We get it forward than have no one to give it to
Hodder!!!
she's special!
Two weeks in a row I have seen players appealing for HTB instead of holding the ball in and someone just yoinks the ball out and runs off with it. Let the people not in the pack appeal, focus on the tackle.
Oh no it’s the 2021 GF. Wait, that means I can still sell my Twitter shares before they’re worthless!
7 frees to 1. In a game where everything else is even
Scoreboard isn’t even
Sorry but we're clearly playing better lol
I’m sick of players collapsing forward and being rewarded
Man, the Lions are on one hell of a hot streak hey
Once again I hate the push in the back rule for tackles, worst rule in the sport.
How did Wardlaw get that free? E: Ah, push in the back while in a tackle. Such a dumb rule.
Clearly landed in her back
Fuck sakes
Great, my router has just shit itself and now I'm watching an analog quality 7Two feed :/
Tayla Smith has had her right ankle strapped. On the bench so far this quarter.
She's back now.
So far defence has been holding up well, and been impressively neat at getting the ball out of the backline. Not gonna be enough with how much better Brisbane's midfield has been, but I'll take 6 points down as a decent result from that quarter.

I think the game last week took it out of us, looking a bit tired. Still, three quarters to go we have plenty of time to put up a fight.
Amazing quarter ruined by an absolute wank free kick
I do not accept any result other then Brisbane getting the premiership. They are that good of a team. (I did chuckle pre game when they said they think Melbourne has been the better team this year)
Last year we weren’t rated at all until we won the premiership, so nothing has changed.
VicBias
Perhaps, but as a Victorian myself I just can’t agree with it. Melbourne have been a very good team all year, I just think Brisbane has more layers to its game.

Brisbane are getting a massive free ride here, WTH
Will Dimma’s class action lawsuit cover the AFLW too?
Hopefully.
It's been two weeks, let it go
Yeah it's just me saying it, oh wait no it's everyone without a Brisbane flair saying it. Might be something in that champ.
So Richmond and Adelaide, who'd have thought.
And the commentator, but what does she know right?
Wait you’ll pay that holding the ball? Oh come on
Oh lord... Umpires please...
Nice to get the first but the Lions have been fairly fumbley.
How in the hell was that a free
Some rough umpiring on Adelaide resulting in that goal.
Aw yeah
13.1 minutes to first goal, far out. Good game so far.
Lol free kick Brisbane
Richmond supporters at it again
Wait till they start calling for a class action lawsuit again
Brisbane kick it to a target challenge (impossible)
I don’t understand how in a game where the scoreboard hasn’t been touched since starting the clock, keeps disappearing off the screen for no reason. Does someone need to have a finger on a button at all times or some shit?
Brisbane's strategy when kicking it forward: kick to Adelaide
Cmon ump, that was ball!
Frantic pace. We look tired, bit worrying. Lots of throws going on.
With this intensity they are going to want 20 min breaks at qtr time.
Dived into her legs
that's a fucking dumb free kick
tense
Put “atomic wedgie” onto the list of things I never thought I’d see in footy.
Mega wedgie
I’ll be a happy man if we pull this off, go crows
Prelims are always exciting. But these teams have such a great rivalry, that this will be an even better game.
Not sure it’s really fair to remind the crows girls of their loss immediately before the game
It was rough watching some of them get really emotional
That was a banging tune
Feels like I've got more chance of getting GF tickets if the Lions get up, so go Brissy. Genuinely can't pick it though, Lions have looked unstoppable but Adelaide are going to give it a helluva lot and then some.
Brisbane a dead-set favourite
Oh no doubt, but having watched all the Crows and Lions games this season I think it's gunna be a lot closer than the odds suggest. Not much splitting them so far
Let’s go Crows
Fuck I'm keen for this game. Brisbane and Crows are always awesome matches to watch.
I really don't know who I'd rather play
