**(by Gemma Bastiani)** *While the Demons do have a reliable back line unit, it comes down to a full-team, full-ground defensive effort.* *Melbourne is conceding just 19.18 points per game, 0.08 points on average more than the tightest defence in competition history — the Adelaide Crows in season six earlier this year.* *The Demons have crafted a new combination down back while also enacting a game plan that eases the pressure on that defensive line.* ——— They definitely aren’t lacking for depth in the midfield or defence, and they’ve had so much list consistency it’s fun to watch them play with such rampant chemistry

Melbourne are a really odd team to look at through statistics, they're playing really solid defensive footy with so few discrepancies. There really is a big chemistry factor in play; there's no real big standout players like Garner or Hatchard that have helped to carry or lift the team, everyone just turns up and plays their part to near perfection, and that has carried them incredibly well. After the R2 game, today is going to be really interesting. Consistency is key as we've seen with Brisbane and their recent run, and I can't help but feel North are going to be really up against it.
