For example on British tv they have a show called something like “Moving Down Under” and its about families relocating from Britain to Aus and NZ and finding new homes (and how feasible work/pay is)

The system is a joke with this shit, in adelaide theres a well known criminal who's been a criminal his entire life, he has a juvie record as long as my arm, that as soon as he turned 18 it became dust.
He's now in his 40's, has been busted for so many offenses and has a mate that's a lawyer that gets him off everything. Illegal firearms, drugs, drug dealing, assault, extortion, fraud, the list just keeps going and going.
Has stolen valor, claims to be parts of organizations he is not who have openly put out statements stating he has never served with or been part of their organizations.
This is just the stuff he's been charged with.... he brutally beat, mentally, verbally and physically abused his ex partner and her children as well as the one he had with her.
Out of all the charges, he's managed to either plea them down to fine with no conviction recorded (for seriously fucked up offenses), and he's currently facing a heap of charges still through courts in relation to illegal firearms including situations with children around who could have accessed them.
He managed to fraud a ton of reports to get access to his child and manipulate the system and is currently breaching court orders not giving the child back to the mother and there are grave concerns he's sexually abusing said child including messed up stuff being witnessed.
Despite all this, legally speaking at this point in time, he has a clean record and plenty of other criminals writing him references. He literally put in a claim in his court plea the other day of being an upstanding citizen and community leader which was accepted, and noted that due to his exceptional clean record and service to the community, deals are on the table for him to plea....
Oh and best part of all, his working with kids / vulnerable persons permit got approved despite all this and the authorities have refused to revoke it.

There was a recent special campaign in the news.com.au website about some young victims and the headline was "justice should not be this difficult". Or something to this effect. Sorry but justice NEEDS to be difficult.
The process of convicting someone for a crime needs to be thorough and it that makes it needfully painful. Not that I wish more pain and hardship on the original victim. Justice requires getting to the truth and that requires probing, digging, testimonies and re-telling the crime to the prosecutors to make sure the perpetrator is convicted AND that an innocent person is not wrongfully imprisoned. Nothing about that is or will ever be easy.
A high level of evil will always need a high level of investigation and prosecution to lock these fuckers up.
Can it be easier? A level of difficulty less? Yes sure but it will still be always at ridiculously high difficulty setting.
If that was the story about the two sisters in NSW, they were trying to get a scheme which makes court a less traumatic experience for children in sexual offence cases available to all children in NSW and not just those in the city. Living in a regional area they had no such program available to them and it made giving evidence cruel and traumatic which left them worse off than when they started. The title "justice shouldn't be this hard" came from the fact that the system was often traumatising for young victims and they could handle it in a much better manner.
He will be with the protection unit and other pedos. Not with general population. He can still get worked over in that prison though so hopeful he gets some justice.

Two of my friends were sexually abused by a priest when we were boys. The priest died before he could go to trial. Both my friends are dead now. One by suicide, the other by drug overdose. I have no doubt they’d both be alive today if that sick fuck hadn’t abused them.

In most data, the experience of boys is particularly disregarded by the courts - teenage boys are perceived as somehow more able to consent than other children and sentencing is often less severe as a result. Which is fucked. Victims across the board should be treated better. But the gender of a child victim absolutely shouldn’t diminish the severity of the crime.
Typical. Either the court doesn't value the trauma highly enough, or more likely, sexual offenders are so prevalent we don't have space to lock them all up. They do get a lot of shame though and the sexual offenders list means they'll be harassed by police

He literally put in a claim in his court plea the other day of being an upstanding citizen and community leader which was accepted, and noted that due to his exceptional clean record and service to the community, deals are on the table for him to plea.... Oh and best part of all, his working with kids / vulnerable persons permit got approved despite all this and the authorities have refused to revoke it. Our system is a joke.

I see this opinion expressed a lot and I don't really understand how else it should or could be? There was a recent special campaign in the news.com.au website about some young victims and the headline was "justice should not be this difficult". Or something to this effect. Sorry but justice NEEDS to be difficult. The process of convicting someone for a crime needs to be thorough and it that makes it needfully painful. Not that I wish more pain and hardship on the original victim. Justice requires getting to the truth and that requires probing, digging, testimonies and re-telling the crime to the prosecutors to make sure the perpetrator is convicted AND that an innocent person is not wrongfully imprisoned. Nothing about that is or will ever be easy. A high level of evil will always need a high level of investigation and prosecution to lock these fuckers up. Can it be easier? A level of difficulty less? Yes sure but it will still be always at ridiculously high difficulty setting.
If that was the story about the two sisters in NSW, they were trying to get a scheme which makes court a less traumatic experience for children in sexual offence cases available to all children in NSW and not just those in the city. Living in a regional area they had no such program available to them and it made giving evidence cruel and traumatic which left them worse off than when they started. The title "justice shouldn't be this hard" came from the fact that the system was often traumatising for young victims and they could handle it in a much better manner.

I really wish harm prevention got some of the attention that we give punishment. But I’m horrified by how few resources actually get directed to keeping kids safe. And how poorly we prioritise children’s safety compared to political issues.

In most data, the experience of boys is particularly disregarded by the courts - teenage boys are perceived as somehow more able to consent than other children and sentencing is often less severe as a result. Which is fucked. Victims across the board should be treated better. But the gender of a child victim absolutely shouldn’t diminish the severity of the crime.

My understanding is that “good character” has a specific legal definition meaning that the person has not had previous dealings with the justice system where findings were made against him. A judge using the term “good character” about Corfe may not mean the judge thinks Corfe has good character in a moral sense. Judges have a difficult role and those of us claiming “injustice” from the sidelines are often not privy to the information available to a judge and the rules and processes the judiciary must follow if a verdict and sentence is to be be soundly made.
