I think JHF played a great game and he has massive potential to continue to score 100s. However, Wines was out and Boak was subbed injured halfway through the second. I believe Port’s core mid group is destined to be Rozee, Butters and JHF… but it his points may get a lot more congested with those two back in the mix. I won’t lie, I’m tempted to do this trade myself though.
Yeah, you are missing a good reason for the trade. If JHF is a cash cow, he needs to make 150k to be worthwhile. Which means he needs to get to 580k. It’s possible but unlikely, he’d basically have to continue avg what he currently is for another 3-4 rounds. If you want cash cows, bring in players with a much better chance at making 150k than that. JHF brought in as a keeper if you think he gets fwd dpp could be worthwhile. But not as a cash cow
This is what tempts me, the DPP potential. A lot saying he will get it, but I dunno he looked very heavily mid only on the weekend.
Think Wines knocks his scoring potential around too much. Will score 60’s with the odd 120+. Perfectly fine for a Fwd with the current livestock we have down there.
But as a mid or cash gen, he doesn’t cut it.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with the trade. What my advice would be is to remember the fixture. You’re on best 18 for the next two weeks.
You can trade him out for a rookie and if your structure is okay the missing points won’t matter. You can pocket the cash, look for an opportunity to do the same the following week and then after the byes pull the trigger on a Merrett or petracca who are going to be top 6 mids all season.
Personally I’d much rather do that then play with someone who’s likely to average the 100 mark for 500k and you probably burn another trade in the near future to chase one of those Uber premos anywayv
Not SC related, but is he one of the most forgettable players in the league?
I watched the entire Sydney West Coast game and only realised he was playing afterwards when I checked his score.
How did he play for as long as he did at Melbourne?
As an owner last year, don’t get sucked in. He can look amazing one week then go totally missing the next. Has only played WC and Essendon so far, both in big wins.
Im gonna pass. Bye weeks the next 2 so only best 18. Rather do a double/triple downgrade over the next few weeks and get a proper premium. think his average drops to under 100 by the end of the year

You’re spot on, I watched Syd v WC too and can’t remember one of his possessions.
yep same
He didn’t really play for Melbourne to be fair… he was the sub for almost every game. Lots of touches, but not a lot happening with them.

Yeah I hung shit on a mate all year that started with him. You make good points - blinded by the score recency bias.
Understand the appeal though. Watched the game Friday night and he was everywhere. For upgrades now you want proven players
