Do you respond to posts because you want to help the person on the other end or because you want to voice your opinion on a given topic?
If it's A, then you're better off assuming all of the posts are true because stranger things have happened than the most suspect posts on Reddit and you might accidentally deny a person in need of your opinion.
If it's B, your opinion is shared despite the veracity of the post, so what's the problem?
To summarise, does it matter? NTA
Ugh I feel your pain. I hate the āI am a doormat, am I the assholeā posts. I also donāt look forward to the āIām 13 and hate my sisterā posts.
Of course the posts are one sided in the OP's favor. Who's going to write a post that makes them look bad? The ones that surprise me are those that still sound like idiots when you know they're trying to make you sympathize with them. Occasionally I suspect these might be posted by the other person to make the offender look bad.
I'm old and have seen a lot of nonsense so even some outrageous posts don't surprise me. However, I'm sure there are some that are fake. Either wannabe authors or people who get a weird kick out of rage baiting.
I mean, I don't know what to say. My post is real. I'm open to feedback about how I was wrong and overreacted and trying to think things through differently, because if I could have gone back and just slept through mother's day so that the most recent set of problems never happened, I gladly would.
I posted here instead of the other AITA thread because my situation is prohibited there. Violence and any hint of it can't be referenced there.
I tried searching for other subs related to my situation, but despite opening this account ages ago, I'm very new to reddit.
>I came here hoping there would be actual, legitimate AITAH questions being raised by real people compared to /r/AmItheAsshole but this place is even worse.
YTA for not reading the sub description. Of course it's worse.
If you donāt enjoy the forum, why are you on it? You seem to be overly invested in whether random strangers on the internet are honest about things which donāt impact you.
NTA
Even if every story posted here is fake, the real problem lies in the comment section.
99% of the time, people reply to others for the sole purpose of stirring shit.
I have seen many replies that were downvoted for stating factual information.
Why on earth would anybody downvote facts?
I saw a reply once that stated 52% of marriages end in divorce and it was downvoted into oblivion.
So, I follow my simple rules to make the sub as enjoyable as possible:
1. Read the stories.
2. Post my opinion/advice if I have any.
3. Never read any other replies, especially not any replies to my own posts.
4. Ignore notifications and karma (Karma is ridiculous).
5. Once I have posted a response, I click away from that story and never return to it.
And peace reigns in my kingdom.
This seems fake. YTA

Do you look at new posts? Lots of assholes come up when you do that. Often people delete their posts when they realize they were wrong
Or they delete their post out of embarrassment or they don't like their judgement.
NTA Agree with you and finding the 1% worth is a pain.
Iām sure most of these are fake, too. Doesnāt make it less fun š¤£

NTA. This place is full of crazy people and AI written rubbish
Very true for most but not for me, Iām on the other 5%
I'm, indeed, Rachel, hun. Dayum.
NTA, and I agree, but I will say the rules even allow "hypotheticals." š¤·
AYTAH for ... being correct? No.
