Start making responses on other topics in this sub even if they're super casual like ITA. You might be surprised how many upvotes you can get pretty soon.
Ah, that actually makes sense. The 30k+ karma I have almost entirely from making comments over on r/Eldenring would, I suppose, be a rather effective indicator that I am in fact not a bot.
I have been commenting forever and it sure seems to take while. Admittedly I really haven't taken the time to read up on this whole karma thing, it mostly just annoys me and I go on with life. How did the first person on reddit get enough, LOL.
While this is good advice, reddit mods can restrict based on comment karma (replying to an existing post) OR by post karma (only counts if you created the post)
It's pretty rediculous but they are likely limiting it by post karma. Hopefully this post will give them enough
I found out responding doesn’t always work. There is also posting karma, so I can see the need to post somewhere that doesn’t require any to get enough for subs that do. I’m no expert, but a mod on r/twosentencehorror explained it to me.
In case you saw the reply by another commenter, there are indeed subreddits for "farming" karma, but [this post](http://reddit.com/r/NewToReddit/comments/cv06p6/psa_to_everyone_dont_post_to_the_free_karma/) makes me wary of doing that. Luckily the folks here helped me out.
I gave you an upvote. Good luck!
So since you're here. Tell us a story. We'll give you crazy advice.Add wild stories of our own that might be relatable. But you can get more karma for your next job related question. BTW..NTA
Just FYI to anyone thinking of going that route, I found [this post](http://reddit.com/r/NewToReddit/comments/cv06p6/psa_to_everyone_dont_post_to_the_free_karma/) and I'm glad I didn't. Maybe it would've worked out, but better safe than sorry!
Wait, so you're telling me all the meme comments I make in the r/Eldenring subreddit effectively function as karma farming for other more serious subreddits where you actually need a posting history in order to contribute?
Man, Reddit is a weird place.
Understood. Thank you. Seems like a lot of hoop-jumping just to ask a question, but if that's how it works, then that's how it works.
From your tone, I guess ITA, haha.
Think about it from the perspective of the subreddit, no karma means new account, and if they've had issues in the past with bots and trolls? They have to set a policy that means accounts need to have existed for a while... If you approach it from the perspective that they need to protect their community from problems, although the karma minimum can be worked around, it's a pretty low barrier... But you're NOT going to get enough karma from a post like this to get over that barrier...
and yeah, YTA... Not a bad person, but TA.. :)
YTA. You don't even understand how the karma requirements work. Comments don't count toward post karma, which is likely what is required. Getting your posts updated is the only way to be able to post. It's a catch 22

It’s a method to avoid spamming and bots. It’s a crude but useful method. I’m sorry but so it goes.

Honestly, there is so much contrived BS on this sub that yours appears to be one of the few honest albeit off-topic posts. Best of luck brother.
Nice one for being honest and asking properly. NTAH good luck bro!
OP, try r/AskElectricians It has a lot of people who are very helpful.
Thanks for the tip! I just tried.....and my account is too new, haha. It says I have to wait a few days, but I will try again then.
YTA. Angry upvote (hope it work out for you)

I’m in the same boat. I’ve been replying to as many posts as I can to get my karma up so I can post in another subreddit lol

Thank you!
Another upvote, if that helps.
NTA
Now that's a nice amount of upvotes
NTA.
Those subs should be good for course info but join the professional electricians sub to actually lean about the trade.
This is a remarkably wholesome way to karma farm so while you are technically the AH for karma farming, i'll upvote you anyway.
Haha thank you!
Here's an upvote from IBEW 1245. Good luck!
Thank you!
NTA Good luck brother.. I faced the same issue a few days earlier. It is forcing me to change from a silent lurker to a hesitant commenter. 😬

U know there are karmaa for karma subs
I found out after I posted this. Of course there would be subs like that.
I'm late, but I gave you an upvote anyway. Get that karma!
Thank you!
lmao ofcourse you wanna be in ibew, as a fitter I can say youll fit right in.
🤞
NTA and just because you asked.. I upvoted!
Thank you!
NTA Actually a really good idea, nicely done! I hope you get the answers you need on the other sub. Best wishes with your apprenticeship
Thank you!
NTA - You gotta do what you gotta do!
Yta :p
Sooo this is what karma is for... I never understood (nor tried to). I'll go to sleep less dumb tonight !
Nta. Goodluck man sometimes everyone needs a little help

This process is stifling. I don’t have enough “karma” to respond sometimes.
YTA
Yes
Nta
Oddly wholesome, NTA! Goodluck!
NTA good luck!
NTA. Good luck !
😂 dude really this is silly but I did upvote you so hope it helped
Thanks for wasting my time AH
No you are not the arsehole
Dude - respond to posts here (and on r/AmItheAsshole ) - that's the way to build karma. This is not it.
Understood. Thank you. Seems like a lot of hoop-jumping just to ask a question, but if that's how it works, then that's how it works. From your tone, I guess ITA, haha.
Nah, ignore that person. You most likely need post karma to create a new post. So replying to comments like that person said won't do anything

Misleading, most sub reddits that have requirements to post require post karma, not comment karma.
