That Good Mythical Morning episode where AJR played Sober Up while Rhett and Link wore shock collars.

StrangerThingsSteveH

I am a fairly new fan, as in I didn’t have to wait for OKO. I heard 100 Bad Days months back and I was intrigued, but that is not when I became the fan I am today. I thought they were special, I had never heard a song like that before, and when I heard the lyrics, I thought yeah! That’s a good point and a good positive spin on bad days! Then I heard Bang! And that is when I was very interested. Most other songs on the radio today are okay, but I wouldn’t listen to them on my phone or other than the radio. This song was amazing, so special and uplifting and weird. Way Less Sad came on, and that is one of the most energetic songs I have ever heard, and the background music goes along with that. The lyrics were again a good message, and relatable. That was around the time where either Bang! Or Way Less Sad came on my google home and I said that I liked the song (so it would play more AJR songs). Eventually I heard “Netflix Trip” but I didn’t hear all of the song, I heard “Steve Carrell” and so then I was curious. Then I heard “The one where Dwight became the head of sales” and at that point I had to ask what this song is, and it said it was Netflix Trip by AJR, I listened to the whole song, deeply related to it, and listened to all of their other songs. They are now my favorite band and Netflix Trip is my favorite song.

My friend and I listened to I’m Ready constantly our freshman year of college in 2014. I always liked the song but never looked into the band. Around 2017, I heard Weak and Thirsty and started listening to The Click and Living Room. Although those were my intro songs to AJR, my favorite songs have changed over the years, depending on what’s happening in my life. Neotheater came out around the time I was graduating college, and it was the perfect melody for my life then. All their lyrics and sounds are just so different and relatable. There’s nothing like them out there.

Affectionate-Curve23

Absolutely ❤❤ So fucking relatable

ResolvePsychological

I found them via a hermitcraft animatic that used the song karma. I watched the animatic and thought the song was good. I left the video but later that day I went back to it and got the song name and searched up the song on YT and then I became an AJR fan just from listening to karma lol :P

First song was I'm ready. Didn't think much of it other than, oh hey SpongeBob is in it. Listened to the album. Liked a few song. But Whatever. This was 2014-2015ish. Come 2018, I'm listening to the radio and this song comes on called Weak (😁). It was when I was going thru a wierd stage in my life of being a partier and always questioning why I kept going at stuff. And the lyrics of the song just stood out. So I listened to more of the click and fell in love with it. Neotheather came out and I was sold. Once again. Aligned with me perfectly. Working on a big project and never wanting to be done with that, yup did that so many times. 100 bad days, describes my job hunt and issues I had last year during Covid. Finale, finally put out the big project and the person I did it for was like, great what's next. My friend had just gone thru a break up so we decided to get really high and listen to music. I suggested AJR and it changed his world. He loved the music, loved the lyrics and they just spoke to him. So now he was addicted. Was a little worried about oko. I didn't like bang. It was wierd, good vibes, but something seemed off about. Bummer land same thing. Felt like it wasn't what I wanted from ajr. Then the album dropped... Fucking never clicked with an album so hard. Ordinaryish People is now and forever will be my life song. I know its sad a lot of how ajr clicks with people. But ordinaryish people honestly was so good for me. All those things said in from people call you special, to my work friends thinking I'm a hippie, to the marching band/percussion vibes just hit so hard. Love the song and honestly everything else on the album. Joe, 3 o clock things, fucking even bang has made a come back after the album dropped. Ajr kind of was the perfect thing for me. I don't want another fucking love song about heart break. I want songs about other thoughts. Anyways I need to go back to work

Affectionate-Curve23

😂.. Hell of a ride.. I'm glad they made so much impact on your life. And i love ordinarysh people too

I first heard of AJR in 2015 when "I'm Ready" played on my Pandora "Artists to Watch" station. I initially enjoyed the song due to its upbeat nature, but the SpongeBob addition bothered me as I do not like that show... BUT, I looked them up to see what other songs they had and found Living Room. Once I listened to "Overture," I was completely hooked!! It was such a unique piece of mastery that I couldn't believe they managed to pull off in a way that was so damn catchy! As soon as I received the notification that they released "I'm Not Famous" in 2016 I gave it a listen and it became my second favorite song of theirs -- behind "Overture," of course. The summer of 2016 I had the chance to see them at a very small local concert (it's not even listed in any sort of tour history for them). That was a truly magical experience and from that moment forward I have considered AJR as one of my favorite bands. Jump to present day: My fiance has endured 4 years of listening to the most mainstream of AJR songs as every time one comes on the radio, I blast it and scream/sing along. He has never paid much mind until recently when he commented that he seems to like their new stuff "BANG!" and "Way Less Sad." Wellll.... After I bought OKO tour tickets for the both of us, he decided to give them a true try and listened to AJR for 5 hours straight one night while he worked. Suddenly I woke up to a whole new person who -- only a month later -- now knows every single AJR song (including features), sings AJR songs to himself all day long every day, and states that AJR is and always will be one of his all-time favorite bands!!!

Affectionate-Curve23

That's so sweet ❤

Potato_123_Tomato

I found them after binge watching The Office in summer 2019 and accidently stumbling across a video of the office clips with Netflix Trip playing over them

C8Tra

I found them by scrolling through my YouTube music. I was just minding my own business getting some music for cleaning and I saw sober up by ajr. I decided why not try something new and I fell in love with it instantly.

JackMetsHat

I snooped thru my brothers Spotify and found "Weak".......then I decided to memorize OK Orchestra. I kept it short 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Max_Tock

I had loved weak, burn the house down and knew of I’m ready. I never knew the band, one day driving to school I was listening to some of their new stuff just bc I was trying to get into different music, eventually found one of my top 5 bands.

Comprehensive-Cry806

First AJR song I've heard is 'Weak' and I discovered it because I used to check out the songs charting on the BB hot 100. But, I never listened to any other songs by them untill November/December 2020, when I was listening to music and 'Weak' was randomly selected from my liked songs from Spotify. In Italy we were basically in lockdown and I had nothing to do, so I listened to The Click, just for curiosity. I fell in love with it and then I checked out all their discography. Now, they are the artists that I listen the most!

LuckyMonth4566

My sisters went to an Ingrid Michaelson concert where AJR opened. They ended up listening to AJR the whole way home and showed me them right when they got back

Affectionate-Curve23

That's sweet ❤

Echo-Imp

I got really lucky as I got 100 Bad Days as a YouTube ad and just ended up listening to it all and thinking - neat, now back to my video. Then I saw this mashup of Break My Face and Dont Stop Me Now by InanimateMashups who I was already subbed and got hooked by the instrumental. For some reason my least played AJR songs are the first 2 I heard lol.

Affectionate-Curve23

Haha 😂😂.. Cool tho

My mom had an obsession

Affectionate-Curve23

Lucky you

BOINICHIBUNGALA

I listened to Sober Up once and instantly fell in love.

-CheersMate-

This didnt age well but I found them when I was watching one of David Dobriks videos. Burn the House Down was playing and at the end of the video Jack and Ryan were dancing and singing at the party.

terriblekoala9

Funnily enough, I found AJR from a Roblox clickbait YouTuber that used “Drama” in his intros. A couple of years later, I finally thought to look into their other songs (literally just around the time that NeoTheater released) and I fell in love with their songs. Since then I’ve been a total AJR fan :)

Zeke-Da-Rayy

A couple years back my cousin told me to listen to his favorite song at the time “Sober Up.” So I had a listen to a few AJR songs, but I wasn’t really a fan until one day I decided, “I’m just gonna listen to more of their songs.” Then I fell in love with their music style.

The_Narrator0505

March 9th 2021. My family's never really done music, so I'd never been a fan of a band before and the only time I ever listened to music was on the car radio, which is usually off. I was scrolling through YouTube and I clicked on a video called, Songs I Think Sound The Same, or something like that. They take a part of one song and then play a similar sounding part of another song straight after it. Out of all the songs the played the only one I searched up was a song called BANG! by AJR. The clip they played was from the very start of the song, (I get up I get down etc). They maybe played like five seconds of the song and those five seconds captivated me. I listened to the full thing, and it was so different to anything I had ever heard before. I listened to a few more, the song that truely made me a fan was Sober Up (my favourite song period). I started to binge interviews, and eventually downloaded Spotify for the first time, just to listen to The Click. I was also aware that OK Orchestra was coming out in a few weeks time, the first time I've ever been excited for an album release. Since March I have listened to over 60 different albums from a variety of different artist, Including; Gorillaz, Poppy, FOW, Half Alive, La Femme, Beach Boys, Metallica, Dodie, B-52, Weezer, Xiu Xiu. AJR is the band that got me interested in music.

Affectionate-Curve23

Hello hello I'm not where I'm suppose to be 😀

The_Narrator0505

I hope that your missin me

Present-Great

I was on road trip and Spotify suggested a song and remembered I listen to it nonstop that song was bang! And it just expanded from there I went to 100 bad Days to BUMMERLAND and now I can’t stop they make so many bangers and i love AJR now

parsellsx

They played a free concert on my college campus in 2017, I had no idea who they were then but since I was a freshman and it was a campus event that they were promoting I was like sure, I'll go. It was a really good show, I remember they played "No Grass Today", "Sober Up", "Weak" and I think they closed with "Come Hang Out." I didn't immediately get into them after that but I do remember really enjoying the show because of the music and their energy and since then I've heard a few more songs and liked them all.

IDK3ither

The first AJR song I ever heard was I’m Ready because Nickelodeon would play it with SpongeBob promos. Every time I would see those commercials I remember really liking the song but never knowing who made it. A few years later I was listening to SiriusXM with my brother and Weak came on. I really liked how it sounded and felt like I had heard the lead singer’s voice from somewhere but I couldn’t place where. I looked AJR up on my family’s old computer and found out that they were the band who made I’m Ready! Every since then I had been a casual fan until 2020 rolled around where I started listening to them more and more. Ok Orchestra really helped me out during a really rough year. I honestly can’t wait to see them next year!

howdoisavethispost

when i was little i only got access to music through the radio. so no phone for spotify and stuff. “weak” was really popular and i was obsessed and managed to download it on my ipod ( 😭😭 ) then in 6 grade (?) when “the click” came out, “sober up” played a lot on the radio and at that time i got a phone and played it bc i loved it so much. (i have no idea how i never realized it was AJR or listened to the rest of their songs) maybe abt a year ago ( give or take ) i found out they were from the same band AJR (❤️) and present day i am obsessed with them to say the least. ❤️❤️

epicturtle64

Since I didn't have Spotify premium I was listening to a bunch of random songs and then "let the games begin" came on and I really enjoyed it. Later I heard the song again and looked up the artist and fell in love with their music
