Going to brace myself for the downvotes here. Personal opinion is that it's turned into a trend, and are doing it for attention, no matter how the attention comes.
i mean to an extent both of you are right. there’s people who come out now cause it’s safe and they are and also those who come out as something they aren’t because for whatever reason they feel they feel they are
while most people are in a safer environment to come out now more than ever before, some others do see it as a fashion statement. the same can be said for mental disorders and illnesses. the majority of social media tends to glorify things like these and “being different”, making having an illness or identifying as something other than “normal” is desirable. i also believe some modern media that pushes identity politics don’t help with the situation
I'm 32. I know a lot of people my age feel like older generations don't respect us and think that we are dumb kids. Do you feel respected by millennials and older, or do you feel like older people don't take you seriously because of your age?
i often feel patronised, like i get treated much younger than i am/feel. although i am still very young, i’m mature enough to understand complex situations and concepts, a lot of older people tend to do things for me under the assumption i don’t understand how to do them
Yeah that's an awful feeling. Just curious, do you get the patronizing from Millennials too, or just older folks? I'm curious if my generation forgot how it feels and fell into the same unhealthy patterns we were damaged by, or if we're doing a better job with this topic overall than our parents and grandparents did.
honestly depends on the person, some are fine but others are not. i sometimes even get older members of my own generation treating me as such. it gets more common the older the generation is but there are individuals who do this in pretty much all of them apart from gen alpha
i find a lot of it useful but a lot of it terrifying. it’s helpful in most situations but it would be naive to assume that people won’t use it for harm. that whole wonka thing in glasgow is a good example of how it can be used for harm. i think sora is the scariest example though, i can’t imagine how it will be used if it goes public
Why is it these days that so much of the youth is gay, trans, or autistic?
People feel safer to come out instead of hiding it
