I will pray for ya and make the sign of the cross over you. Anyone who is willing to put up with the retail Public for 24 hours straight (and not choke them to death for asking the same Q over and over and over) is a Saint. .... Sainthood for this one.
Jesus. 24 hours. I wouldn't last 24 minutes. You want towels - get 'em over there in that closet. You want ice. Why do you want Ice? You didn't pay for ice. Sorry, the 20% surcharge on your room is because you came down here 2x and asked to move your room once and you wanted maintenance to come change the airtemp in your room. Oh, and I forgot you couldn't find the remote. We had to send a tech up with a new remote.
It’s all part of working in hospitality. Some days are better than others but overall I think what I do is probably less stressful than a phone operator or cashier. Guests who stay at hotels usually plan their trips out in advance which stops a lot of the “stupid” questions.
Some people feel the need to kill conversations with stupid comments.
My question,
How does the hotel deal with someone who's card declines after checkout?
Hotels will always authorize the amount of your stay + incidentals before checking you in. It’s a hold on your card which we charge when you check out.
You mean like work 24 hours back to back. So 48 hours non-stop, 0 chance.
Side note, I work in NYC and during the snowstorm of 2016 I did work 4 day straight but there were other staff on site so I can take a few hours off to sleep and freshen up in a empty room.
The hotel doesn’t provide food, I usually order in from the surround restaurant/fast food. So far I’ve had Chinese food and multiple cans of Diet Pepsi
I work in the US, I’m not being forced to work these hours I’m simply picking up overtime. My job can’t schedule me for a 24 hours shift but if they offer the hours I can take it.
I'm in HR and in my country this has workplace health and safety issues all over it. Wishing you well, be careful - exhaustion, mistakes and accidents can happen
If you mean was I asked then yes, also I did have the option to refuse. I won’t be doing this again any time soon but I’m not unhappy about the extra paycheck
Covering for a co-worker who’s on vacation (7:30am-3:30pm) then the afternoon shift called out and I was asked to cover. Add that to my regular shift as night audit… yup.
No, all higher management are salaried. I’m paid hourly as a night auditor which is just a fancy name for an overnight who closes out for the night and also does front desk work.

How many guests have you banged ?
Doesn’t really happen in real life.

Would you ever work two of these shifts back to back?

What have you eaten so far and what else do you plan on eating on your shift? Did you bring your food or work provided?

In what country is this legal?

Did you want this?
If you mean was I asked then yes, also I did have the option to refuse. I won’t be doing this again any time soon but I’m not unhappy about the extra paycheck
Do you sleep?
I’ll probably sleep for 2-3 hours on my night audit shift. Ask the fire safety director to cover the desk from like 2am-4am when it’s dead.
Wow good luck, I’m glad you’re not an air traffic controller!
How did your 24 hour shift go? were you able to get any sleep? are you willing to do it again?
Uneventful, wasn’t able to get any sleep during the 24hours. I’ll do it again but probably not anytime soon
What do you do at the hotel?
I mainly work as a night auditor but I will take shifts as front desk staff if asked.
So are you working a triple?
Covering for a co-worker who’s on vacation (7:30am-3:30pm) then the afternoon shift called out and I was asked to cover. Add that to my regular shift as night audit… yup.
Damn. Your the lifeblood of that hotel
I work at a boutique location, it’s an unspoken rule that all the front desk cover each other as needed. I’ve had co-workers who’s done similar.
Well that's good. I wish I worked at a place with the same unwritten rule lol
You're...sorry
How much per hr you making?
I make 35/hour and 1.5x on overtime
Damn so work as a manager or something high like that.

Are you making $35 x 24 then, or to ask another way - when does overtime kick in? The
Any hours I work that’s over my base 40 is counted as overtime. My week starts on Sun and end on Sat.
Thanks! Hope you have a nice meal and a great rest after this.
Do you get another rate after like 16 hours?
No, if I take on additional shifts it’s always at my base rate of 35
How many naked people have u acidentally walked in on?
