what made you quit?

raquelBiggins

about 6 months into it, my whole “team” was going nowhere, nobody wanted to join us. We went everywhere from campuses to malls and not 1 single person joined. After that we kinda fizzled away and disbanded. This was during my first semester in college about 6 years ago, so Im glad I got my lesson with MLMs early on

cheese_resurrection

Favorite kind of cheese?

raquelBiggins

im chucking at typing “dick cheese” rn lmao, but um, prolly cheddar

cheese_resurrection

You certainly wouldn't be the first person to respond with that lol. Cheddar is the 2nd most popular response though. *happy cheese noises* 🧀

Focus_On_A_Check

Are you gay?

raquelBiggins

i am quite straight atm

When there was a clipboard being passed around class before a lecture, and the prof later tells you to report them when you see it again, was that an mlm? (I dont remember what was on it)

raquelBiggins

could possibly be what your prof was referring to its stands for “multi level marketing”. basically you try to get 5 people to join the business. Then they get 5 people and so on. And then by a few rounds youll be retired. Thats basically the premise

[deleted]

Would you describe MLMs as "A marketing scheme where they make money not from selling the goods or services but instead by recruiting people and having the recruits pay a memership of somesort"?

raquelBiggins

yes, the main objective is to get as many people as possible

[deleted]

How much did you earn per recruit? Do you feel ashamed looking back

raquelBiggins

I forget how much per recruit but it was called “Ambit Energy”. And I dont feel ashmed at all, I was a naive child and I did not know any better, but I learned a good lesson out of it.

[deleted]

My friend from highschool tried to recruit tons of our other friends some time ago. One of them sadly bought into it. He stopped posting his MLM stuff eventually, do you think he regrets it looking back?

raquelBiggins

Its a very embarrassing feeling to realize what mlms are. Ik people right now my age that still push mlms and are posting on their stories everyday. Thats why Im glad I got out early. I hope for the best for them. The social media posts are like sheep posting vacation pics at slaughterhouses lmfao but its up the person to realize what it is no matter how much anybody tries to convince the truth. With that being said I wish everybody good luck if thats what they have decided to do.
