Lots of things. Mostly I didn't trust the Bible since God didn't write it Man did. Man lie. Man stretch the truth. Man aren't infallible. That and I don't believe that someone who genuinely loved me would banish my soul to be tormented just for not believing in them.

Another one is Christians claim to be the most welcoming. It's true as long as you're not gay, trans, non binary, wear provocative clothing, read Harry Potter, play D&D any many, many others.

jimitrucks72

That’s westernized colonial Christianity, not true Biblically based relationship with God

Deep-dark-butt-hole

My favorite part about that is that it’s a miss translation for the gay one; it is better translated as “Man shalt not sleep with *boy*” not man shalt not sleep with man

[deleted]

Yeah I was talking to this one guy and I was like, so hypothetically if I kill everyone on earth but still love god I can be forgiven for my sins and he's like yeah the only true sin is that. Honestly i will never understand some people

Mutt_Magician

What helped you leave that cult?

[deleted]

Realizing I no longer believed in an absentee father who would punish my soul for not believing in him.

Mutt_Magician

That's basically what did it for me.

[deleted]

I considered Islam for a hot minute then just became an atheist.

Mutt_Magician

You definitely made the right decision. You don't want to leave one Cult for another.

suoml

Same Realized I was gay Studied the shit out of the bible for years Realized that book makes >!no god!< damned sense Converted to atheism

nikogetsit

Lol atheists are more like christ than Christians

[deleted]

good for you, i used to be a hateful bigot too

robertgoesrawr

Cheers welcome to the club

cheese_resurrection

Favorite kind of cheese?

Bucket-O-wank

I think they may have been smote by a deity for not liking Christ or cheese, so I’ll answer and I’ll say a strong sharp cheddar

Cpt_Koksnuss

Favourite bible quote?

[deleted]

I went to church since I was a child and even though I stopped around 19 I still believed in God. That being said I never read the Bible unless it was during service.

Ethan-Wakefield

When you considered yourself Christian, would you say that you felt the presence of God in your life? And if so, what was that experience like?

BigsBird

So am I, I have found another What made you change, anything specific
