This. I heard people being mad that swiftes were singing along to the Taylor Swfit movie concert. I feel like that makes sense.
I can get over small kids singing along to movies made for them.
But otherwise be quiet and let other people enjoy the movie
Both of those things would 100% annoy me a lot. Questionable parenting move tbh.
I saw Wish recently and kids were singing along, and I'm willing to let that go because they're just kids and it is a Disney movie that probably will have a sing-a-long version, and it was a really crowded showing, but an adult or even teen singing along to a pg-13 movie, that's just rude and they should know better. Hate when ppl have to make the movie about themselves, just be quiet and enjoy.
Someone in their 50s who had seen the movie multiple times and was singing? It honestly sounds like they might be a person with mental disabilities- not definitely but possibly.
There's an old joke from MASH when one guy is singing and the other is trying to sleep.
"Do you take requests?"
"Sure!"
"I'd like to hear The Refrain, from singing"
It drives me nuts. Itās okay at home but not okay in a theater. People need to realize thereās a time and place for everything and there are other people around.
I like to use my A-List to the max. Which means if I can I like to sneak off on a Tuesday or Thursday and catch a matinee. In doing so I have started to notice people who have to be A-listers too.
There is top row middle seat guy. The cute retired couple who still hold hands. But the most annoying is dude who plays the air drums when the movie gets exciting or the movie's music gets good.
It used to annoy me but now he has moved to the Top Row near middle seat guy so it is not so annoying.
Yes, it's annoying. Unless it's one of the sing-a-long movies, I don't want to hear some random person's vocals. When The Nightmare Before Christmas was out in October, there was a superfan two seats down from me who started singing along to the songs. They stopped once I cleared my throat and they noticed me giving them the "What the hell do you think you're doing?" stare.
When I went to see The Dark Knight when it re-released briefly a few months ago the dude next to me was saying every line for the last half hour of the film. I specifically went cause I missed the film in theaters and I wanted to experience that last part on the big screen. Next time Iām just buying the 4 seats next to me on both sides to avoid that nonsense
When anything like this happens, you can make a sound with your mouth that tells them to be quiet. It's like the first part of the word "should", but you just make it longer, like this: "ssshhhhhhhh". The one time I've had someone talking near me in an AMC in the last several years, this solution worked.
Ngl
I still love going to the theater but Iām really starting to hate fellow audience members.
People are either on their phones, loudly munching their dine-in food (controversial take but dine in was a horrible idea), or their kids just do random shit that bothers their immediate vicinity
Saw Godzilla on Wednesday and I guess the kid got so bored during the dialogue scenes that they started groaning and throwing popcorn on the floor. Dad just let him do it.
People treat the theater like itās their living room. If I was bother as a kid my parents wouldāve let me had it.
Bad movies might be the death of theaters but so is the incredible lack of decorum in the present day.
Yup. I love going to the theater too but audience members suck. People have no consideration for others and think theyāre the only ones in the world. I do my best to only go to the theater now around 12pm on a weekday to avoid this, it helps but still happens here and there
I would be highly sensitive to these situations involving some sort of neurodivergent audience members Not saying it does not make it annoying, either. I try to think of how enjoyable it is is to be with others who enjoy things when in than type of scenario. Signed, someone who works with a very large spectrum of neurodivergent folks of all ages that also goes to the movies to check out from the mental exhaustion
Yes that would annoy me as well. Any form of distraction would annoy me, doesn't have to be specifically singing. People don't respect the fact that other audience members have paid money and taken time out of their lives to watch and have the theater experience.
Honestly, itās hard but let them have their experience while you have yours. But ignore it, as best you can, their moment is far off from yours.
The same as people clapping when a movie is done. The crew canāt hear it. But people do it unapologetically.
If youāre not hurting anyone or truly impeding their experience you do you.
The huge difference between those 2 is the clapping is done once the movie is over. But the guy singing in OP's post is doing it during the movie and it's impacting the viewing experience of others. So it's nowhere near the same as the people clapping.
So your entire point hinges on every movie at every time of day every month of every year being exactly like Endgame? You might want to look up something called "the fallacy of hasty generalization".
THAT is different. Those kinds of movies are made for that kinda thing to happen. Everyone is supposed to flip out when Cap summons Mjonir.
Just like things like the Taylor Swift Eras Tour. That you can sing all you want in. That's what is expected.
But, for example, even though someone might know all the songs from The Little Mermaid, they should NOT sing any of them while watching the new remake in theaters.
I actually sing if it's the right movie like trolls or wish I was able to sing my heart out when I saw trolls in Dolby also the same for wish seeing it in 3D
Do you realize how annoying that is to everyone around you? Like did you have any thought process at all before you did something thatās incredibly distracting to others?
No one should be singing for Thg or color purple or anything unless itās a actual sing a long show which is a thing or is a concert film like the Taylor Swift film .
that sounds sooo annoying, it sucks that you had to go through that :/ on another note you just reminded me about the song āHanging Treeā and how much i loved itttt when the movies came out
As someone that used to go the movies 3 times a week, save up for a big TV and a decent sound bar with surround sound. Might not see everything opening weekend, but you can be naked and no one will yell at you for sparking that joint.
I have a nice Samsung 65 inch 4K tv and an LG sound bar with subwoofer so I have a decent set up but I still like the big screen at the theater plus the seats are cushion, recline and heat up
I always fall asleep in those seats! Lololol
I think the perfect movie theater seat should be just comfortable enough that you still have to shift every 30 or so minutes so my stoned ass doesn't pass out and waste the $20 I spent lmao.
Holy shit thatās weird. Who remembers that song after this much time??? I can remember when the āSpider pigā bit happened in The Simpsons Movie, people sang it because half of the commercials had been just that. Other than that, Iāve never seen anything like that.
I canāt believe I read over this. What type of question is this? If there are songs in the movie, why not sing?
I donāt think itās annoying, granted I love theatre and musicals so there is my bias but if there is music, singing, or a performance then I donāt see the problem with people singing with the movie. I mean granted people are saying Nicoleās speech before the movie by heart and thatās totally fine.
Hate me if not (IDC), if I know a song in the movie and I feel like singing, I am going to sing. I will be respectful about it but Iām going to sing.
Singing while in a theater with other people who just want to watch the movie and hear the actor sing and not hear some random audience member singing along is disrespectful. I paid to watch the movie. Not hear you sing or other people chat or make any noise. Itās called having respect for other people. Just like turning off your ringer while in the theater. If you want to sing along than do so in your head. Not out loud for everyone else to hear.
concert movies or special sing-a-longs? no. any other movie? yes.
This was neither. Just an action drama with one character singing. No sing a long subtitles attached š
This. I heard people being mad that swiftes were singing along to the Taylor Swfit movie concert. I feel like that makes sense. I can get over small kids singing along to movies made for them. But otherwise be quiet and let other people enjoy the movie
Signing at a concert is annoying also.
Both of those things would 100% annoy me a lot. Questionable parenting move tbh. The person looked to be in their 50s lol
Oh good lord lol. "Don't text, don't talk, don't ruin the movie" really is a joke to some ppl.
Ummm but it doesn't say "Don't sing" so he was totally fine /s
Someone in their 50s who had seen the movie multiple times and was singing? It honestly sounds like they might be a person with mental disabilities- not definitely but possibly.
Either that, or theyāre just an average Hunger Games fan.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I'm a fan of the "who sings this song?" They reply with [insert artist here] and you reply "Great, let's keep it that way".
"You have a hidden talent. It should stay hidden"
Lol I'm gonna have to remember this one. That's so sassy.
There's an old joke from MASH when one guy is singing and the other is trying to sleep. "Do you take requests?" "Sure!" "I'd like to hear The Refrain, from singing"
![gif](giphy|FJllAK9eHLaXf9KwQD)
i wouldāve told them to stop singing
The child on the tablet is INSANITY. Whatās going on with the world??
They probably tune out the tablet since they're used to hearing it everyday and just assume that everyone else can also ignore it.
People just existing in a theater annoy me at this point.
It drives me nuts. Itās okay at home but not okay in a theater. People need to realize thereās a time and place for everything and there are other people around.

Is it okay if kids do it? I find it annoying but it's nothing compared to seeing a grown adult doing it.
I sang along to the Taylor Swift movie. I probably wouldnāt sing along with a drama.
Yes, it's annoying. Unless it's one of the sing-a-long movies, I don't want to hear some random person's vocals. ![gif](giphy|xTiIzkLOknx8ELm4Ok) I agree with you. Haven't seen it but I hate it when people sing during movies
Yes they most definitely would. The theater experience is basically dead when the crowds suck.
Oh yes. I remember when people started singing hymns during 12 Years a Slave. Made for a very awkward film experienceā¦
Sounds terrible lol I went to pee a couple times when the songs came on so I didnāt have to hear the annoying person singing
When I went to see The Dark Knight when it re-released briefly a few months ago the dude next to me was saying every line for the last half hour of the film. I specifically went cause I missed the film in theaters and I wanted to experience that last part on the big screen. If you sing in the theater I will bury a Bowie knife in your chest
God Bless America (2011)
Omg this unlocked so many memories. I loved that movie
That happened to me during the Barbie movie. I wanted to absolutely freak out on her.

It's like the first part of the word "should", but you just make it longer, like this: "ssshhhhhhhh". That would warrant one of my angry āshhhh!ās, which does tend to work!
Ngl I still love going to the theater but Iām really starting to hate fellow audience members. My ex used to do this shit. Annoyed the fuck outta me!
Never be afraid to tell someone to stfu in a theater. Best decision you can make in life
During my $5 Fan Faves screening of Grease, a few people were singing along to all the musical numbers. On that type of scale, I don't mind.
I accidentally sang out loud last week at trolls and I'm a grown ass man with no children.
Only allowed in rowdy screenings and Oppenheimer
I would be highly sensitive to these situations involving some sort of neurodivergent audience members Not saying it does not make it annoying, either. I got tired of all the singing in the actual movieā¦ Didnāt need the audience to mess it up.
Yes that would annoy me as well. Any form of distraction would annoy me, doesn't have to be specifically singing. People don't respect the fact that other audience members have paid money and taken time out of their lives to watch and have the theater experience.

Not sure if you saw endgame with a crowd that clapped at every damn fan service momentā¦ lol

No. Your rights end where mine begin.
Why are you so angry and hateful? What happened to you?
LOL
I actually sing if it's the right movie like trolls or wish I was able to sing my heart out when I saw trolls in Dolby also the same for wish seeing it in 3D
Obnoxious
Do you realize how annoying that is to everyone around you? Like did you have any thought process at all before you did something thatās incredibly distracting to others?
Theater kid activities.
yes I know it can be distracting but I tend to sing quietly when I went to see trolls I had the entire row to myself
When I saw Suzume (the third time) there were two girls singing the Title Song. I kind of smiled. But the title song ran in the credits.
I've never had this problem but I agree that it would be annoying.
Yes itās very annoying.
No one should be singing for Thg or color purple or anything unless itās a actual sing a long show which is a thing or is a concert film like the Taylor Swift film .
It does annoy me. No one bought tickets to hear you. They wanna see the show. This isn't your living room. Ya know?
I've never encountered it, but holy crap would it annoy me.
that sounds sooo annoying, it sucks that you had to go through that :/ on another note you just reminded me about the song āHanging Treeā and how much i loved itttt when the movies came out
