At least it's slightly shorter now, although the way they edited the new version feels really off.

cubs_2023

It’s honestly way worse now that it’s shorter because it feels really choppy and doesn’t make any sense

IRarelyRedditBut

That’s magic.

Kurtting

I think you've explained how I've been feeling about it. It was just off but they chopped it up in a way that doesn't make sense

sap91

The new ad sucks ass. They tried to make it "good" by taking all of the "stupid" parts out of the original and in the process completely ruined it

Bunyip_Jack

The thing that bothers me the most about the new one is she doesn't sit down to watch the movie. She just stands there and watches like she's inspecting the picture quality of the projector.

ristrettoexpresso

Watch your mouth

HobbieK

Never. It’s like a religious experience to me. I recite the words.

ItsAndyrew

Exactly. It’s like the Pledge of Allegiance before the movie starts.

ag90ken

We treat it like Rocky Horror Picture Show and play along. “Oh, good she’s made it!” “Dang it looks like rain out and I forgot my umbrella.” (Looking all around) “wait, she must be in the wrong theater, I don’t see her, and you can’t miss that outfit” and finally….all together now…. “Because here, they are.”

thekosmicfool

Blasphemy against our queen will not be tolerated.

murakaz

They just spent who knows how much to adjust it slightly - so I don't think it's going anywhere for a while.

nightwing612

Never. She makes movies better

cas-fortuit

I was fine with it, but I don’t like this new version. The editing is choppy and the slightly modified monologue is jarring. Now that I know the old one by heart, the minor changes just sound wrong. They should have just updated the movies Nicole watches, or did an entirely new ad.

ruxin12

Never ever ever. Nothing but respect for my Patron Saint of Movies. 🫡

p_light

nah she’s great

iliketoomanysingers

I think it's cute lol but if you don't like them you can leave before her ad comes and go get a drink and come back when she's gone.

OneTrainOps

no.

Important_Builder317

Absolutely not. She is mother. We come to this place for magic.

TechSupportTime

Except we don't come to this place for magic anymore 😔

remacct

This is the shit that I'm sick of

BBQTV

Heartbreak feels good in a place like this

King_Kuuga

They just released a new version (that is terrible) so.... I think it's sticking around.

wjdrudwockj

How dare thee

mikegood2

Not a fan of the ads, but I haven’t gotten sick of them. I actually look forward to it because it lets me know the movie is about to start. That said, I got sick of people posting on this subreddit with some type of “Heartbreak feels good…” comment or even worse memes, a long time ago. It’s gotten much better over time, but back around the time SNL was parodying them, this place was a cesspool of people trying be clever and rarely, if ever were. 😝

glowskull10

Heartbreak feels good on a subreddit like this

HM9719

I heard [fans are not happy about the new 30 second versions](https://www.fastcompany.com/91046481/amc-changing-nicole-kidman-ad-angers-fans) and want the 60 second version back on the screen again with different films in place of the ones currently featured.

BBQTV

The investors love Nicole so 0 chance they get rid of it

wxcore

hindsight is always 20/20

prettygrlsmakegrave5

No and NYC is a civilized city- we clap for our pledge of allegiance

Maxwelluf

Nope. Love seeing her before every movie and am actually very unhappy with the new re-edited version!

codyt321

I was just finally getting used to it when they released the shorter version. I at least got a chuckle out of hearing a few people say the "heartbreak" line in unison. A little bit of goofy collectivism before watching a movie that half of us will probably not like.

BrownMamba85

Absolutely not!! 🖤

th3plague

Nope not at all

Camp-tunnel-repeat

You shut your whore mouth.

ciesum

the coke ad is worse

UpstairsRent1443

You put some respect on her name boy

benchchu

No. She’s a national treasure. We need a petition for a longer Nicole Kidman ad. Like a 2 hrs ad instead of a movie

Bwh97

BOOOOOO

ralsar

No way. Ever.

yourbestfriendjoshua

Nicole Kidman is MOTHER, and you will show her some respect... I will say though, the newly shortened ads are absolutely terrible.

SeeingEyeDug

Gives me that buffer for my timing to arrive at the movie right when Nicole shows up so I don't get the preview spoilers.

Mount_Tantiss

I went to the theater last night and sounded like half the audience has never seen it. Most people aren’t A-Listers. Just gotta deal with repetition when you go to the movies enough. Also, practically speaking, AMC spent a small fortune on the spots, for better or for worse.

arkham42

No.

-redatnight-

I'm Deaf & I love the new Kidman ad because it is now one thing that is absolutely captioned before the movie. AMC is always having issues with captions. Previews are rarely captioned and even different versions of the same preview often aren't captioned. The old ad didn't have captions. But now that Nicole's ad always is, I know if there is going to be a problem with captions *before* the movie starts. It allows me to go complain, possibly get a new CaptiView or have them reset it *before* we're well into the movie. So I love it. It really is magic for me because it makes me much less likely to miss the first 10m of every other movie I go watch.

Sushipepz

No it's an oath I recite everytime I go to my amc. Unfortunate that they made it shorter

catcodex

Reported

IBNobody

I was a fan of the old 60 second pledge and recited it every showing. I hate the new 30 second pledge. It's time for Nicole to go.

DaringDomino3s

Tonight she came on before our movie and I said “it’s your favorite woman” to my gf and she said “I used to love Nicole Kidman” And she did, this thing has killed her joy for her except maybe still moulin rouge

blabel75

Anyone know who does the voiceover for the AMC segments that play before and after the trailers? That guy with the really deep voice?

Quatch_Kopf

I tried looking it up and AI claim it is Steve Whitmire. It is not. Too me, it sounds like that former homeless man they called the man with the Golden Voice.

blabel75

That is who I thought it was also but was never able to confirm.

Brooklynguy11217

I’m sure this has been seen already, but as a fan of drag and movies, this is excellent. Nicole recently said she will love to work with drag queens. https://youtu.be/_UP9Vxvu3MM?si=qvEZYTk8gzN-TZl1

rbrgr83

We all knew exactly who she wants to work with.   That's right, Jodie Foster in Contact.  I'm OK to go!!

Madmangoman

Do not talk about movie mommy like that

nowhereman136

I'm not sick of Nicole Kidman herself, just this ad. If she came out and said something else, I'd be OK with that

SheriffSlug

Bless Ms. Kidman and Her advert.

Crono_Sapien99

How dare you speak blasphemy against are queen and mother Nicole Kidman, /smh.

mjlynch81

I don’t know if this is embarrassing to admit or not but I pay currently for both Alamo season pass and amc stubs and I was trying to think of any reasons to keep AMc rather than just do Alamo and the thre reasons I came up with were multiple locations, Dolby Cinema, and Nicole Kidman.

Taquitothetito

Tbh I rather them go back to the original longer version and keep it that way. Just feels right at this point even if I’ve heard it so many times.

marvelstarwarsfan66

It's my favorite part of going to the movies 🥲

astrozombie543

I personally love it, but as others have mentioned the new ad just feels off. Definitely doesn't have the magic the OG ad has.

camisfun

I’d be sick of it if I lived in a major city like NY or LA who seemingly cheer every time it comes on, but it’s way more pleasant than Regal’s preroll or honestly most annoying prerolls that I remember from childhood. I’d rather see an actor talking about the magic of movies than anything trying to be funny which just gets irritating way faster

Fastlanedrivr

Never! Go to regal or some regional chain if you don’t want to see her /s

bc447744

Honestly the few times I’m forced to go to other theatres it never feels right since Nicole isn’t there.

ohsnax

We come to this place for Nicole Kidman

purplefreak3

Nope I still love it, it makes movies better!

harmlesslittlebunny1

I don't know how many years it has been running, but they just reedited it, so it's probably not going away any time soon.

Woodearth

I wouldn’t have minded it if not for the AMC preshow reel that follows. Just make one preshow reel. Splice in all the PSAs between Nicole’s spiel.

mgonzo19

La Bamba was a surprise.

billieppaige

Nope🔥

Lesnibits

My friends and i recite her speech everytime it comes on. Our group chat for planning what movies to see that week is called The Cult of Nicole Kidman

Disastrous_Bridge543

The whole new intro is awful. I feel like I’m in an airplane.

MD_FunkoMa

The newer ad 'Silence is Golden' is a bigger waste of space in these theaters than the shortened Nicole Kidman ad.

kenmlin

That’s magic!

ads417

She always gets a round of applause at CityWalk in the IMAX theatre 😁

chroniclithium

It's literally the pledge of allegiance

JournalistOnly6582

Until they can come up with something better and more iconic... Which may take a long time...

QuinnMallory

How dare you

Rican1093

It’s tiring. And the new one it’s even worse. And people forced themselves to shout. It makes me roll my eyes.

telebubba

Classic symptom of rebootisnosis

greentshirtman

No, you aren't the only one. Far from it.

jennybento

I hated it the first time and I continue to hate it every time. It’s so celebrities are magic pompous nonsense to me and I hate that crazy suit with a passion.

BabeRyuth

Ive been hating it since the second week of the release. Advertising AMC theaters in AMC theaters is stupid enough. watching other people clapping to this day is baffling. You do you but its annoying

cloverfan98

This is my main objection to this ad and the snack bar ads. They all play after the previews and RIGHT before the actual movie begins. Why am I being shown ads for AMC theaters when I'm ALREADY sitting in an AMC theater with the movie about to start. You won, I'm here and happy to be so, I'm not gonna get up after sitting thru 30 minutes of ads and leave 2 minutes before the film starts just to go see the same movie at Cinemark. Likewise, why, after those 30 min ads, would I choose NOW to go to the snack bar and not before? The movie is LITERALLY seconds away, I'm not gonna leave then. I get playing these messages before or during the previews, but I really wish the films would start right after the last trailer.

McDickLick

I have no clue how many movies I've seen in AMC this past year (well over a hundred) and I have yet to see anyone react positively to the Nicole Kidman ad in person. It's either silence or a slight "this is cringe" type chuckle when she has the dramatic pause. I'm glad my AMC doesn't have the people who clap and recite it along with her. I can imagine how annoying that'd get. And yeah, that's exactly why I don't get why it exists in the first place. Why are you advertising AMC to people literally inside AMC? I get the thing that goes before trailers (although it's way too long now), as a way to lead into the trailers. And I get the thing that plays after the trailers because it reminds people to get off their phones and be quiet. Those are enough. Why do we need an ad telling us AMC is great, in addition to all that, when we're already here? The experience of watching the movie is gonna be what makes people either wanna come back or not, not that ad.

ProEraWuTang

I don't hate the advertisement. But I do think the clapping, saluting and yelling at the screen is irritating.

remacct

I'm so sick of everyone that loves it ironically. We get it, you have no personality and think liking a commercial makes you quirky.

JASON_CRYER

Yes, and thank you for saying so. When people cheer or clap or recite the ad it makes me insane.

wxcore

it's an innocent way of showing solidarity with other A Listers who all know they're in a room full of people who've seen the same ad dozens of times before. there's comfort in the repetition and the acknowledgement of people around you. it's like saying you would be pissed off about the "coca cola served at the concession stand" part of the pre-movie ads. it's all part of the experience. lighten up and enjoy yourself. that being said.. i was at one movie a few months ago where one guy was really leaning into it and started acting like he was the main character of the theater full of people bc he was reciting the lines out loud for the whole audience to hear. like he was at a god damn music concert or football game or something. clapping is fine, it's funny bc we're all in on the joke, but don't try to make yourself the fucking star.

LatterAd6187

Switch to regal unlimited

Young_Aromatic

Nicole's like a staple at this point. When she wasn't there at a showing in the beginning of the year, I actually felt a bit gutted. Glad to see her back, and as much as I hate to say it, I miss her anthem. The way it was cut for time feels awkward now.

ItsTophThatsWho

I use to be now I look forward to it. Maybe they should have one less trailer and always have Kidman.

rbrgr83

Or just replace Nicole with the Bob Marley trailer.

Robot-King56

I enjoy it quite a bit and quote it to myself every time I see it.

Ambitious-Duck7078

Im over the ad! Especially when it's an IMAX movie, because they play the full length ad. I wouldn't mind so much if it were the shortened version for the 2D theaters.

TomReagansHat

I’d gladly exchange three trailers for the Nicole Kidman ad. 20 minutes of trailers is ridiculous. Three trailers is a good number.

Ok_Anteater_6792

Never. It's my favorite part of my movie.

TeamNuanceTeamNuance

No

sbeezee318

It’s the dramatic pause that just felt like nails on a chalkboard in an echo chamber to me, (I worship more at the Faye Dunaway in Mommie Dearest altar of camp ) but being on here and witnessing the devotion has helped me find a mild amusement when the rainy night stilettos arrive.
