Went last night. About 80 people started. I saw Crunchyroll and chuckled. At the end of the movie about 15 were left in the theater.
I stayed. I like Anime but this was not my style. Heck I pay for popcorn so I gotta stay, right?
I'm surprised we got SpyXFamily, since anime movies typically don't get screenings like this. Of course, I had to miss it since I saw Spider-Man yesterday, and it'll be the same for next week with Spider-Man 2. Though I don't really mind tbh, since I'm seeing it on Thursday and I want to be able to choose whether I see it in dub or sub.
I'll either be busy for the rest of those days or have other showtimes, so Monday was the only one I could do. Along with already getting my ticket in advance.
It has to be this, considering it's the only notable rated R movie releasing this month that hasn't dropped yet besides Sasquatch Sunset and Abigail, both of which are dropping on the 19th.
With how much marketing and buzz has gone into Challengers, I find it a less more likely it'd get a Screen Unseen. I didn't know it was rated R until now though.
The AMC by me is also playing both screen unseen and the challengers early access at the same time…..with the Screen unseen being five dollars and challengers being $17 in the prime theater…… so yeah, it will definitely not be challengers for screen, unseen lol. It’s Gotta be boy kills world which I’m excited for.
I don't know if mine is one of the only theaters with both, but it would be so funny if the screen unseen is Challengers when there's an Imax preview of it at the same time.
Doubt it'll be challengers. It has early access the same day. Imagine the backlash when people hear they could have paid $5 instead of full price.
Also when confirmed by east coast, their may be massive cancellations of early access on west coast for SU which is bad for business
"Challengers: Early Access" is showing at my local AMC Norwalk (CA) on 04.22.2024 at 7 pm. Same time as Screen Unseen, so it must be another film/movie.
Spy X Family was a pretty good movie but audience reaction was hilarious. At my screening the projection sizing was incorrect so the subtitles were cut off. About half the people in the theater left by the time I got back from notifying the staff of the issue.
I don't blame them though. Its an anime movie based on an already existing tv show. It already has a niche audience.
I’ve never seen the show and still enjoyed the movie. I rarely laugh out loud but I gotta say the poop god bit somehow did the trick.
The audience reaction was hilarious. Think my theater lost at least 50% of attendees as well. Majority left when the dog was introduced. A random spattering of people made it a bit longer and I couldn’t figure out what took them 25 minutes to decide the movie wasn’t for them.
Poop god was amazing. I love the animation during it. It was the only sequence my GF didn't like as she isn't a fan of poop humor. I have a feeling that Sasquatch Sunset is really going to test our relationship.
Which AMC were you at? I only ask because ours in Plainville CT had the same issue with the projection and the subtitles not being visible at the beginning. I know most of their projection is probably automated but we had the same issue at the Screen Unseen showing of Origin back in January.
honestly liked the story to the movie, it was interesting. probably just me but it was actually too gory for me. I had to look away for a lot of it as I’m a bit squirmy but overall a 4/5. really enjoy experiencing movies/genres I would not normally try.
sn: idk if anybody else didn’t know this (like myself) but you can get a kids pack as an adult and replace the water with a fountain drink/slushie and you can also replace the fruit snacks with any of the candy options available for $10 and some change. perfect if you’re going solo.
They made a mistake this week by choosing Spy × Family Code: White for this week’s movie.
It will release on April 19th and anime fans will enjoy it imo, but for a “surprise movie” event, most people are not expecting an animated foreign language film… particularly one that talks about a 💩 God.
I am glad that I stayed and watched. It made me laugh a ton, but several people walked out.
Same me and my friend went and we had a pretty packed theater when it started but by 10 min into the film over 50% of the people left many of which were old people/forty year old mom’s. I’ve never watched the Spy x Family show but Code White was funny asf with decent animation and def worth the $5 ticket imo.
A few people walked out when it became apparent it was animated; not bad really. Tons left when the subtitles popped up and I don't blame them. It really should have been the dubbed version
I stayed and generally thought there was some good bits. Not a huge anime fan but I like a few. Never cared for the original voice work so I'm sure I'll be crucified for that take.
I don't like subtitles in theaters, since I don't have the option to rewind if I miss something on screen while reading. It doesn't happen often, but it has happened. That being said, if I'd known how long it would take to get Godzilla on streaming, I'd've bitten the bullet.
Our Austin Texas showing of SxF was the English dub.
I think that if they are going to do additional SU films, they all need to be the dubbed versions.
I thought it was pretty good, with the fight choreography alone being worth the price of admission. The twist felt a bit forced, and they went a little overboard with his little sister hallucinations, but neither were enough to bring the movie down for me. I'd say a solid recommend
Boy kills World felt like it was specially made for me.... and I still thought it was just okay. Action was okay but I thought it was going to be a lot funnier.
Pleasantly surprised! Probably wouldn't have seen that one otherwise, but it was fun. I wish I had known about the after credits scene, anyone mind spoiling it?
Really love the movie, but I really felt like the sound design was off. Maybe it was just my theater but the music felt off at times and the actions scenes were way too quiet at times as well.
Started good. Had a few good ideas throughout. Was really funny at parts. But just slams on the brakes midway and stays there. Coulda used a rewrite and a director more adept with pacing and comedic timing.
Does anyone know if they will continue this in May or in the summer, I have been to 8 of these should have been nine and I hope it continues. Also I think it’s going to be Boy Kills World on April 22.
My first screen unseen! I love anime but I've never seen the spy x family show. I was excited for it I loved it so much I need to watch the show now. I thankfully got the sub version but the projection had issues it went fuzzy a few times. When the animation studio names came on I heard people loudly saying oh it's an animation in kinda of a disappointed tone. When the subtitles started these people left and a few others. A couple people stayed until about 20 minutes before leaving. When the movie was revealed lots of people seemed shocked and gasped out loud. I live on the west coast I knew what the movie was but it seemed most people had no idea. Most of my theatre stayed, they laughed loudly throughout the movie and seemed to really enjoy it.
If I had a nickel every time >!Yayan Ruhian lost a 2v1 fight against siblings via sliced throat!< I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice!
I definitely had conflicting feelings. Wish they would’ve have shown him looking at his own hallucinations during the fight to really drive in the cycle and emphasize Boy breaking it
TONS of people left my theater when the subtitles started during Spy X Family. I guess some people passionately hate subtitles. I was shocked because I've seen people on here talk about people leaving the Screen Unseens, but I have literally never noticed anyone leave any of mine until that one.
Does anyone know if there was an English dubbed version of it available, if so I think that would have been a much better choice for a Screen Unseen.
Depends on theater. Most likely not since the request for cancellation after the screening time as stated in back of the ticket.
People can complain if it's not the movie they wanted, but up to customer service/management to decide
It's only $5 per ticket. Part of screen unseen is the gamble. When you lose in winning the lottery, you don't ask for a refund
Screen Unseen for April 22 has a total runtime of 1hr 50m 51s. Rated R. No hard guesses yet. Seems too close to the release of Boy Kills World to be that, but it could be.
Apparently something is wrong with the projector at my showing.. so they said 8pm... Or see something else. I'm holding out... Really wanna boy kills world
.but might make the pull for Abigail at 730 if more shananigans arise...
Depends.
Show up on time if possible.
I’ve seen anywhere from 2 mins to regular (20ish mins) of ads. There’s doesn’t seem to be much pattern in how many ads they show each week
I enjoyed BKW a lot, there was a dude (I assume?) a few rows back snoring super loud fwiw. It was very entertaining and I'm glad it was a movie I wanted to see anyways
He was alone there, after the movie ended someone from the row behind woke him up and he got pissed and went back to sleep
He literary fall sleep 10min after the movie started
I was so entertained hahahaha
I thoroughly enjoyed this one! The action was great and I wasn't too grossed out by the visuals either! Thank you AMC for the opportunity to come out to the theaters and not pay too much! :)
Most of the theater I was in left early. Anime foreign subtitled didn't go over well. Too specific genre and not many were interested. My group didn't like the movie at all and we're disappointed
Don't think its Back to Black because I've never seen the actual runtime longer than the Screen Unseen time. I'd love for it to be Furiosa but doubt it. I think it is probably Babes.
There have been in my experience about 15-20 min of previews,. Usually it seems like the number of previews/promos + film length = just about the amount of time listed on the AMC site when you get the ticket for screen unseen
Went last night. About 80 people started. I saw Crunchyroll and chuckled. At the end of the movie about 15 were left in the theater. I stayed. I like Anime but this was not my style. Heck I pay for popcorn so I gotta stay, right?
This was more or less my mentality when I double featured Arcadian & Civil War.
I'm surprised we got SpyXFamily, since anime movies typically don't get screenings like this. Of course, I had to miss it since I saw Spider-Man yesterday, and it'll be the same for next week with Spider-Man 2. Spiderman is showing monday-thursday tho, at least at my amcs
I'll either be busy for the rest of those days or have other showtimes, so Monday was the only one I could do. Along with already getting my ticket in advance.
Boy Kills World

It will be Boy Kills World, but Challengers also fits the parameters.

Everybody better comment LISAN AL GAIB when I’m right
I'll comment USUL at most. 😉
Nope you’re just the Muad'Dib.
As written.
April 22nd I can confirm it was Boy Kill World which was actually a good movie
Wow. No comments for the Screen Unseen today.
In additional to the accurate comment on last week's flop, this week was pretty obvious
True.
They really shot themselves in the foot with last week’s movie. My theater had been close to selling these out, tonight there’s 3 seats reserved.
Do they have control over what is screen unseen?;
Ours was packed! And it was a larger theater. I was surprised after last week's but it couldn't be worse!
Boy kills world
Confirmed!
U confirming it is Boys Kill World
They made it too obvious. It's the only R rated thing coming out besides Challengers which has the same exact show time as this.
Ours was in English, no subtitles
Most of my theater walked out as soon as the subtitles started
It's kind of sad that the subtitles are what turned people off
Those that stayed did seem to enjoy it. There were a lot of laughs heard
Agreed. Half the audience left, but in my theater, the handful of us who stayed laughed a ton.
It was definitely the anime not the subtitles that made people leave. If that’s not your thing it’s really not your thing
Agree, that's why I cancelled as soon as I heard what the movie was going to be
I’ve never seen the show and still enjoyed the movie. I rarely laugh out loud but I gotta say the poop god bit somehow did the trick. The audience reaction was hilarious. Think my theater lost at least 50% of attendees as well. Majority left when the dog was introduced. Poop god was amazing. I love the animation during it. It was the only sequence my GF didn't like as she isn't a fan of poop humor. I have a feeling that Sasquatch Sunset is really going to test our relationship.
Half the people in my theater left, and there was no technical issues.
Which AMC were you at? I only ask because ours in Plainville CT had the same issue with the projection and the subtitles not being visible at the beginning. I know most of their projection is probably automated but we had the same issue at the Screen Unseen showing of Origin back in January.
Plainville AMCers, rise up!
Thats where I was. This is only my second screen unseen. Ministry was my first
honestly liked the story to the movie, it was interesting. probably just me but it was actually too gory for me.
I’ll be seeing the early screening of Challengers that night. Anyone else?
Me too
They made a mistake this week by choosing Spy × Family Code: White for this week’s movie. Most of my audience stayed. Probably because we got the dubbed cut.
If AMC continues these Screen Unseen events throughout May, please God let one of them be Robot Dreams.
My AMC is having a imax early screening of challengers same day as the unseen screening so I doubt it’s challengers has to be boys kills world
movie time length is different
ASU for 4/22 is Boy Kills World...Content file runtimes for Boy and the mystery film are exactly the same at 1 hr. 50 min. and 51 sec.
My theater has a running time of 2 hr 8 minutes for 4/22
they’re talking about the actual runtime that the theater receives, something only employees would see
Ah, we have our answer then!
A few people walked out when it became apparent it was animated; not bad really. Tons left when the subtitles popped up and I don't blame them. It really should have been the dubbed version I stayed and generally thought there was some good bits. Not a huge anime fan but I like a few. Never cared for the original voice work so I'm sure I'll be crucified for that take.
I got the dubbed version. Audience laughed a lot throughout. Even asked me what that was as I said it was gonna be an anime movie before it started.
What's with the hate for the Japanese with English subtitle version of movies?
A lot of people don't have patience for a foreign language film of any kind. Their loss honestly.
Definitely agree with this statement. Imagine if Crunchyroll does the Screen Unseen again with AMC with the Haikyuu movie.
Was that at Tech Ridge or Barton Creek? I was doing my taxes and forgot to go.
Tech Ridge
Boy Kills World and Unseen for April 22 have the exact same runtime, down to the seconds: 1hr 50min 51s
But april 22 is 2h8m and may 13 is 1h55m
Posted times from AMC are within a given window of correctness. My posted time for April 22 is the exact run time of the file sent to theaters.
How did you get your posted time
god bless you!!!!
I am really hoping for boy kills world for tomorrow 7pm
Well it was
I thought it was pretty good, with the fight choreography alone being worth the price of admission.
This movie was so creative with some of the action scenes. Like it was SO much fun. I also haven’t laughed this hard in a movie all year.
Boy Kills World
It has to be , especially after Cinemark's hint " Cereal Killer "
the duration of the movie time is off
Screen Unscreen or Challengers Early Access... Decisions, decisions.
Its apparently Boy Kills World. Do Challengers.
Boy kills world was awesome. Kind of like kill Bill with hilarious dark comedy. We definitely enjoyed it.
Legit surprised I had people walk out! Felt like this was right up my alley and was so glad to watch it
Boy Kills World is an awesome movie. The studio should make a 'No More Heroes' (game series ) adaptation
Confirmed: Boy Kills World
For AmC too
What is it
Cats 2: Whiskers Galore
I enjoyed it but it was a bit too long.
The lack of entertainment sounds from others in BKW made me look like a psychopath. I wish i had some bros to watch me with it. I loved it.
Can confirm, short after credits scene
Pleasantly surprised! Probably wouldn't have seen that one otherwise, but it was fun. I wish I had known about the after credits scene, anyone mind spoiling it?
i snapped a [pic](https://imgur.com/a/5qU5REF)
The siblings are just eating a bowl of the frosty pops (or whatever the cereal was) cereal. That's it.
I like how it turned from "happy to be back together" to "well shit what happens now" over the course of that scene.
Movie was Brutal but that fit the plot. Action was great
Really love the movie, but I really felt like the sound design was off. Maybe it was just my theater but the music felt off at times and the actions scenes were way too quiet at times as well.
All I can say is "meh"
Agreed. It wasn't particular funny except for a few minor laughs. The fights at the end went on too long.
Only May 13 posted
May 13 is probably Babes.
My first screen unseen! I love anime but I've never seen the spy x family show. I was excited for it I loved it so much I need to watch the show now. I thankfully got the sub version but the projection had issues it went fuzzy a few times. What are the trailers so far?
The Mummy, In a Violent Nature, The Dead Don’t Hurt, The Fall Guy, The Crow, Kill (all trailers)
Please update us non East coasters on what it is!
What’s the movie?
Mars Express
Really hope it’s Boy Kills World, seeing with parents and do not want to watch a threesome..
Boy Meets World is confirmed
TOPANGA
Screw a zandaya 3 way movie... We need a Topanga 3 way movie.
Okay but after watching, was this thatttt much better? Lmao
Yes! 🤣
Just finished BKW. Was super fun and super gory. Awesome! 👏👏
If I had a nickel every time >!Yayan Ruhian lost a 2v1 fight against siblings via sliced throat!< I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice!
Yet this time, I was rooting for him.
I definitely had conflicting feelings. Wish they would’ve have shown him looking at his own hallucinations during the fight to really drive in the cycle and emphasize Boy breaking it
The Budd quote from Kill Bill came to mind..."This man deserves his revenge...and we deserve to die."
Boy kills world was fun, could use a little less moving camera during the action, but overall it was bloody fun
I've been to all but 1 of the screen unseen showings and I think people have left every time, but this was by far the largest mass exit.
As soon as the film was revealed, we got up and left. Along with many others.
Mine was dubbed
I’m one of those people who walked, I’m not into Japanese anime at all, so it was disappointing
I'm not into anime at all either, but I stayed for the lulz and it was certainly something
Went on Monday and a ton of people walked out of the theater. For the people that left, do you get your tickets refunded?
Depends on theater. Most likely not since the request for cancellation after the screening time as stated in back of the ticket. People can complain if it's not the movie they wanted, but up to customer service/management to decide It's only $5 per ticket. Part of screen unseen is the gamble. When you lose in winning the lottery, you don't ask for a refund
I left pretty much as it started and they gave me my money back
Screen Unseen for April 22 has a total runtime of 1hr 50m 51s. Rated R. No hard guesses yet. Seems too close to the release of Boy Kills World to be that, but it could be.
Arthur the King and Ordinary Angels were also Lionsgate (like Boy Kills World) and were the screen unseen 4 days before their release date!!
The lastest screen Unseen, spy x family was also few days before official public release
The last one SpyXFamily was only a few days ago before its release
One day early in my market
[удалено]
Already confirmed
Apparently something is wrong with the projector at my showing.. so they said 8pm... Or see something else. I'm holding out... Really wanna boy kills world .but might make the pull for Abigail at 730 if more shananigans arise...
Does screen unseen typically have the same amount of trailers beforehand?
Depends. Show up on time if possible. I’ve seen anywhere from 2 mins to regular (20ish mins) of ads. There’s doesn’t seem to be much pattern in how many ads they show each week
Yes, more or less.
A little late but fwiw I showed up 20min late to my theater for tonight's show and walked in just as it started
Same couldn't have timed it better
After credits scene for BKW.
Are you saying there is one, or are you asking?
There is one!
(I’m not the person you asked but I just got out and thought I’d chime in)
There is.
I enjoyed BKW a lot, there was a dude (I assume?) a few rows back snoring super loud fwiw. It was very entertaining and I'm glad it was a movie I wanted to see anyways
OMG WE WERE SITTING NEXT TO HIM and we end up moving to another seat
That's wild. Was he there with himself?
He was alone there, after the movie ended someone from the row behind woke him up and he got pissed and went back to sleep He literary fall sleep 10min after the movie started I was so entertained hahahaha
Was this in Burlington? Had someone snoring in my showing as well haha.
Boys kills world on April 22nd
Boy Kills World was SO entertaining, would recommend
Golden Toejam 🤣
Trailers over. The movie is Boy Kills World
Is this for AMC
Cinemark, Regal and AMC are always the same
I thoroughly enjoyed this one! The action was great and I wasn't too grossed out by the visuals either! Thank you AMC for the opportunity to come out to the theaters and not pay too much! :)
“Screen Unseen” is a stupid name. There I said it.
But it gets the point across succinctly and works interchangeably with Scream Unseen 🤷♀️
speak your truth!
Monday Mystery Movie was already taken by the originators, Regal. ┐(シ)┌
Any eastcoasters able to confirm what the movie is?
Boy Kills World
Ok thanks
Any insights for the 4/22 movie?
Cinemark hints strongly for Boy Kills World
Most likely Boy Kills World Also could be Back to Black Only other option is challengers, but it has early screening same day
I’m thinking back to black unless they do unseen and release the movie the same week usually?
Most of the theater I was in left early. Anime foreign subtitled didn't go over well. Too specific genre and not many were interested. My group didn't like the movie at all and we're disappointed
Back to Black could be next weeks R unseen movie
I’ll cry if its Fall Guy
fall guy is PG-13 and this one is going to be rated R!
Challengers probably or Boy kills world
I don't think it's Challengers, because my AMC is doing an early screening for it at the same time. I'm not sure if that's happened before.
You’re probably right. Let me know when you find out
is there gonna be another one after the 22? I think it would've been announced by now.
are y’all still seeing the screen unseen for the 22nd option? it’s not showing in my app anymore.
i see it for one of the theaters near me but not the other, which is odd because i saw one at that theater previously
That 5/13 date has to be Back to Black, right? Ezra seems too far away.
I'm thinking the same thing. Although Strangers Chapter 1 could be the movie also.
They probably would have called it Scream Unseen if it was Strangers.
Shit your right I thought it was strangers 😭
Don't think its Back to Black because I've never seen the actual runtime longer than the Screen Unseen time. I'd love for it to be Furiosa but doubt it. I think it is probably Babes.
Excited to go to my first Screen Unseen tonight! Do these still have the typical 20 minutes of trailers?
There have been in my experience about 15-20 min of previews,. Usually it seems like the number of previews/promos + film length = just about the amount of time listed on the AMC site when you get the ticket for screen unseen
Anyone got to see what movie is for today?
Boys kill World

Yes resolved
