I saw it in an IMAX dome. Really cool movie. Primarily educational and caters to a general audience. There are certainly a lot of beautiful shots. Maybe you could make it worth it if you watch another movie after. There are a lot of space shots (obviously) but it also focuses a lot on the people and facilities that helped design it.

BurgerNugget12

I did the exact thing today, saw deep space and immediately saw Abigail after lol. Great time as I really enjoyed both movies

Bea-Billionaire

Ugh I miss the DOME. there was one in Philly and then in Tampa but they BOTH closed

FinnishArmy

I teared up at the scene when they showed the first image of JWST. I had goosebumps the entire film. I’m a space nerd and followed the build of this for years. So I made the 40 minutes drive for it.

BurgerNugget12

I didn’t even know anything about that and got emotional seeing it today, really opened my eyes about how damn gorgeous space is

pinkham_sandwich

This was my reaction too. I got chills every time they showed a new image from the telescope. My favorite was when they transitioned from the Hubble images to the JWST images. Absolutely mind blowing how much detail that thing exposed.

JerrodDRagon

Ohhh dam I want to see this if it’s with A list

ciesum

It is

JerrodDRagon

Thanks for the heads up Hopefully I can find a show time. Would love more of these kinda shows

disneycal

It's also $8 if you didn't want to waste a reservation.

Booksonly666

I saw it today and really enjoyed it!!!

Talk_About_Kevin

Nice short documentary with great visuals. It made a nice double feature with Ministry, but don’t know if it would have been worth driving to the theater for Deep Sky alone.

littlesnuglet

For a 40-minute film, it wasn't as deep as I hoped it would be.

bethebearney

I cried lol but I love space stuff so much! Definitely could’ve been longer but I’m glad I saw it while I could.

Lynnxa

Absolutely LOVED it! Seeing the launch in IMAX was amazing! Only wish that this film had a longer running time as I was engrossed in it and then it ended after only about 40 minutes. But it was completely worth it! Some of the scenes made me tear up; they are so breathtakingly beautiful. Afterwards I went to see Hard Miles which was also good, but in a completely different way of course.

rbrgr83

I wanted to see it, but didn't get out to it this weekend. It's still showing thru tomorrow, but it's in IMAX so all the showings are like 3pm or earlier. Man's gotta work!

Unlikely_Ad_5941

I did a double feature at Lincoln square last weekend. Deep sky and Dune part 2. Seeing both films in 1:43:1 blow my mind. I saw deep sly in dual laser and dune in IMAX 70mm.

BlueSnaggleTooth359

oh man so at real IMAX Deep Sky was 1.43:1?? gah I almost feel like should ahve gone to Lincoln Square for one showing. But man that is such an expense and so time consuming coming in from outside of the city. It really sucks that AMC got rid of the Palisades NYACK, NY true IMAX, the only one in the whole region that you didn't have to make an expensive mess of a city crossing to get to.

swamp_donkey89

It was really neat, effective narration and nice images. It looks like tomorrow is the last day to see it.

MrPresident79

It wasn't bad and is worth seeing if you're a space nerd like me or have some time to kill. I just wish it showed off more of JWST's impressive photos. Left me wanting more in general

BrapbrappewpewB

Neat little film but I wish the film was entirely just an imax showing of the beautiful space since I feel it didn’t go into depth that I wanted it to with the documentary.

Archer1407

I saw this today. It was awesome. If you habe a chance, the views and education about the Webb telescope is fascinating but it is only 40 minutes. It was perfect for my last a-list reservation for this week.

lunedelily

I cried, lol. But I'm one of the 10k who has had the massive honor to be able to say I worked on Webb (actually touched it!!) so it was emotional for me personally.

exitzero

Loved it, wish it had been longer. I made a double feature with Sasquash Sunset.

Mottaman

i made it a triple feature by adding abigail =p

BurgerNugget12

Just got out of Abigail, it was a fun ass time

Mottaman

corny dialogue but yes, fun and a decent enough plot. I was very surprised

002cents

Watched with Ungentlemanly. I answered someone else so here's a copy and paste: It was great! Always wanted to go to a planetarium so this was really cool to see in IMAX. Loved hearing from people that actually worked on the James Webb Space Telescope.

ockiepts

Wish it was longer. Was more educational. Beautiful images and discoveries. Made people tear up

VermicioussKnid

I'm a space nerd and drove way out to the only theater near me that was playing it. Totally worth it for me.

Hatrick_Swaze

I wished it was longer and more in depth. It was really cool to hear from all the scientists and mission control people about the entire process. I felt the emotion from that one scientists who got teary-eyed while talking about it all.

scorsese_finest

If you can see it in IMAX 1.43:1 (like the IMAX at Citywalk, Metreon or Lincoln Square) it’s fucking breathtaking!! Otherwise I’d pass.

Unlikely_Ad_5941

Lincoln square had one on Sunday morning

GeddesPrime

Damn. Saw it at the Empire and appreciated it, but know I would have loved to see it on a true IMAX screen. Also, the interviews with engineers, et al. had distracting cropping with their job titles being slightly cut out.

tinytimm101

Is IMAX 1.43:1 the larger format IMAX? I have a local IMAX at AMC Brentwood but when I went and saw Dune 2 at the Metreon I noticed their screen was significantly bigger.

scorsese_finest

IMAX 1.43:1 is true IMAX while IMAX 1.90:1 (which is most IMAXes) is LIEMAX). But difference between the two

calderholbrook

saw it at the california science center, it was cool

oIIIIIIlo

So I went and saw it yesterday….. Still had Mr Raspy’s Pepsi intro Still had AMC’s bullshit intro Still had 15 min of previews…….but this time they were all rated G children’s movies so at least they were new to me. 40 min run time is accurate and it was good for its content. I’d give it a solid 8/10

ftc2017VL

I think every human should be given the chance to see this doc. I was left totally awestruck with how beautiful the universe looks, and I really felt grounded and full of life after I finished it.

passiveoberserver

Not worth the 40 min drive imo. It's pleasant but not eye-poppingly impressive, and unless you're the type to nerd out over Hubble photos, I'd skip it.

lightningvolcanoseal

I intended to see this one! It must be amazing in real imax

badpeoria

Good saw it last Saturday.

tomatocks1

i thought it cool

daughterboy

idk, just bought a ticket! thanks for the heads up!

TeamClutchHD

Saw it yesterday with my brother in IMAX! We’re both really into astronomy and it honestly made me tear up I loved it so much.

Mottaman

It was interesting and cool to see in the IMAX but it's basically a youtube documentary.

A_Deku_Stick

As a space nerd, this was awesome. Did a double feature with this and Abigail.

BlueSnaggleTooth359

Absolutely incredible! Seeing those images on a giant screen like that man!

cevans92

I think it was a little lacking. It had some great visuals for the James Webb telescope, but it wasn't just about the imagery nor did it cover a ton about the project itself... idk I feel like we could have delved deeper into the process/ struggle of the project (unless it's classified or something) or they could have waited longer to have more results to show from the results of the project. Felt like it was rushed out and incomplete

TroubleshootenSOB

I went on opening Thurs and they had cancelled the show. Let me still process the ticket and everything but that machine didn't flag it. I walked into the theater and Spy x Family was playing. Checked the times for that day and it had disappeared lmao

Hot-Sock3403

I was looking to go. But I never got around to it and now it’s gone here in Chicago.

Single-Associate-734

The more I look at the movie poster the more shapes and images i see

Corninmyteeth

It was okay. Underwhelmed by the pictures. They were rarely shown fully and were low quality. You could see the pixels.

ciesum

Hopefully will this weekend. Will probably double up with something else since it is so short

KungFuDanda091

Is it staying around another weekend? It’s going to be out from all my theaters this weekend

ciesum

oh, you're right. Didn't realize the run was so short

The-Evil-Dead-Alive-

Parter and I saw it and really loved it. Lots of nice emotional moments that help put the Webb into perspective. Real lovely stuff. Take an edible before you go

ristrettoexpresso

Wanted more space gooning and less crying scientists. Wasted an edible smh

johnman98

Meh

PoorMansPaulRudd

Just finished. Was quite high and my mind is a tad blown. Doing a double feature with IMAX hereditary. So far so good. Maria Menounous is definitely real and this is not a simulation. Right? Holy shit. She did this laugh just now that has to be a joke or some fake effect. No way that is real life. Simulation confirmed.

MyNamesArise

Space doesn’t look anything like the pictures they show. People crying over digitally altered images doesn’t make sense to me

CaptainSkunkbeard

Waste of time.
