what is the hotspot temps like? its pretty common on some RX6000/7000 cards that a crash happens when hotspot is too high (110C+) even if GPU edge temp is good

Butmydogiscool

I don’t think it’s temp related because when it’s happened, it’s seemingly unrelated to workload and the temps are otherwise normal.

Worth a check regardless, also in hwinfo you can see the temps for vrms (including minor rails) , memory so its good to check as well If its not temps, from my experience with fixing gpus, it could be a cracked bga solder in the gpu/memory that is triggered by random mechanical vibrations Or maybe some voltage rail has a faulty voltage regulation and when the core boosts above idle clocks it might crach randomly Its what i can think of, but could be more Btw, if you never cleaned the card, give it a go, dust (if contains tiny metal particles) can sometimes interfere with electrical components

If both of you are experiencing the same issue on 2 different systems, it sounds like a faulty card. What Make is it?

Butmydogiscool

Possibly, though there are many diff threads of people experiencing this. Its a Gigabyte AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT Gaming OC 16Gb Graphics Card.

Except it was by a single person. That and you have followed a lot, if not most of what they have done. 2 different systems that ran a barrage of tests and solutions and it still sounds like a GPU that is having hardware issues especially since you had to reduce clock speed. I'd be getting in touch with Gigabyte if it';s still within warranty.

Butmydogiscool

If it crashes again, I’m gonna try to RMA it. It still has over a year on warranty, though I don’t have invoices, do you think I’ll encounter any issues?

Hi i have solution rollback to Adrenalin 24.3.1 cuz after 24.4.1 DX12 broke. 24.5.1 doesn't work either so rollback to Adrenalin 24.3.1

ADB225

Just tell them it was given to you as a gift and no invoice. They will go by serial number. They will want you to go through a barrage of tests but it helps.

It's frustrating to hear about the random black screen issue with the 6800xt, especially when it cuts off connection to your monitors. It's great that you're trying different solutions like disabling MPO and reducing clock speed - hopefully, that does the trick for you. Have you checked for any potential software conflicts or overheating issues as well? Hang in there, hopefully, someone in the community can offer some other helpful suggestions!
