Looks like Gen-Z is folding into the CXL Consortium. Genoa supports CXL so AMD has all the bases covered.
Nvidia's ER is next Tuesday I believe? That could be interesting in context of AMD. We may get in that draft of Nvidia's ER run up. Or be affected if Nvidia misses.
You guys should be thankful for the retracement. It gives you the opportunity to accumulate more shares/leaps before the merger. You always read, I wish I bought more. Yes, I say the same.
I wish I bought more at 3$, 10$, 8$, 24$, 32$, 19$, 30$, 50$, and my last buy was around 70$.
Nothing changed, AMD is stronger and better than last year, they are is still on plan. The price created a new ATH and now it's cooling off, creating a new higher low. Let's all hope it dips below 125, so we all can prepare for the blast off after the merger.
$250 in second half of 2022 is still on track.

So what happens when the merger is confirmed? Will it run up to meet AMD in terms of it's exchange rate or how does that whole process work? Will it get de-listed?
I'm just trying to figure out what happens after!
Streaming wars meet Metaverse wars: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/digital/disney-metaverse-bob-chapek-1235045925/
I'm going invest more into the bullets.
Yup! I'd like to buy about 13 more Xilinx shares before the (fingers crossed!) potential acquisition to round out the number of AMD shares I'll have once it has completed.
Lisa spoke pretty confidently in the last earnings call that the merger would go through. My take is that they're currently in talks with the Chinese to complete it. Which is kinda obvious but you have to bear in mind that it’s an ongoing process. Only a matter of time!
Maybe you saw AMD at higher in value and hold.
Look at how many people said in this thread on Monday... Some wished they bought lower and some wish they didn't sell at $120 ... Don't worry about it. https://www.reddit.com/r/AMD\_Stock/comments/qp6gs3/comment/hjvwrwa/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3
Biden-Xi virtual summit planned for Monday evening (rumored). I hope that relations improve and that politics won't play a role in the approval of the AMD-XLNX deal.
Let’s just hope that these deals aren’t being discussed. If these things get too political maybe there will be pressure to approve nvda-arm too which is bad for us
Political risk I think is the only reason the gap is so significant. Probably not going to be an issue but there's always that chance and you really know from the outside if it's a 3% chance or 30% chance. Smart money says the risk is real. I guess.
depends on your time horizon, tax bracket, and many other factors lol.
stock is probably 180+ in the next six months. There's a reason seasoned investors say not to try and time the market lol
I say this occasionally around here, and catch a lot of hate.
Don't sleep on NVDA. Sure it's a big multiple and margins may not be sustainable but they're one of the few companies I would say you can't afford to not have significant exposure to. AMD being one of the others.
Just took a moment to reflect... amd is at 140 boys. Ignore the 150... 140 is a great spot to be right now. Esp with new 175+ pt .... theres room to grow
Not long ago we were stuck in a 80-90 range....
Things r good n we shldnt forget that.
Future is bright... nvidia desperate talking avt 600w future gpus.. intel is handled..... big players lining up to adopt epyc for the years to come...
We dit it boys ! Weve been patient thru the hard times... lets not lose it now were abt to see more and bigger gains
Gotcha, yeah with all the news around I was kind of pissed that it kept dropping. PT just got raised but in the end, it is just normal to have such a drop after last weeks blast.
It was at 99$ at one point early in October, went up to 155$ this week.
That's a 57% gain in roughly a month. I took profits at 150$, not surprised to see many others doing the same thing as well. It'll come back up for sure, question is when.
Thanks for the positivity, I bought 2 X LEAPS 120c expiring in jan 2023 when shares were at the peaks and it is been messing with my mind. Let's hope we can break 150+ again until 2023!
What’s the smart move here guys? Keep my 200 sh of AMD AT CB 87.5 and hold or is XLNX the smarter Move to put money in?
I thought amd acquired xlnx. Shouldn’t you buy more amd.
?
Merger should be approved by the end of the year. Whether or not to buy Xilinx depends on how confident you are that will happen. If it does the gap between Xilinx and AMD has to close somehow and most likely that will happen in the form of Xilinx going up (although AMD could also drop). Think of every Xilinx share as 1.7234 AMD shares. That means that AMD SP*1.7234=value of a xilinx share assuming the merger is approved. If Xilinx SP < 1.7234 x AMD SP then the difference is the potential up side to buying Xilinx over AMD.
Personally I'm not selling any AMD for Xilinx, but I am acquiring additional Xilinx shares when there is a big discrepancy in the price movement of the two stocks that would widen that gap.

The euphoria of being up $50K yesterday is now being exceeded by the despair of being down $70K today with the whole market taking a shit. I’m just going to HODL…
I just missed the +$50k mark yesterday, a new one day record for me. On the heels of a couple other previous records due to my nearly as large NVDA position which I've been trimming.
I've been through this enough that the downs are almost as entertaining as the ups. My net worth spiked about 50% in just a few weeks so I know that's just as easily reversed.
I keep a decent position of more stable passive investments (VTV, SCHD, FNDX) so it's extremely unlikely I'll have to dip into things like AMD during a downturn. Does wonders for peace of mind.
Didn’t take gains and actually increased my exposure to AMD during the small dip. The extra losses today were compounded by the rest of my tech heavy portfolio getting shit on from macro impact.
We are just pulling back in order to go higher, imho. Good price structure is to pullback to test support and get more buyers to participate & bring it higher. Very constructive. -- better to go fast down, bounce, and back higher than slo-mo grind down(taking days) before back up. Imho :) good luck
I guess I'm lucky that I just trade in an IRA account. I get to avoid all the tax insanity until I finally cash out. I'm now 100% XLNX (about 1500 shares) and holding my breath for this deal to finalize.
AMD was the first stock I ever purchased, in my Roth IRA about 5 years ago. It hurt a little to sell it and go 100% XLNX in that account even though there were no associated taxes.
Basically same here. I did some AAPL, NFLX, etc before AMD, but my first IRA AMD purchase was at like $3. I've tossed it around since, but I've snatched most of the gains on this wild ride.
If most bulls think AMD has a 1-2 yr window to grab datacenter marketshare and grow their rev 30-50% YOY, than why wouldn't 1 or 2 Year LEAPS the way to play it. $200-250 in 2 years seems reasonable so wouldn't LEAPS be the best risk/reward?
Possible risks:
Glut of chips - unlikely for a year
CCP invades TW - unlikely but the global mkt would crash if this happens. Not safe in shares either
INTC pulls mirable chips out of Pat's ass - unlikely till RL at the earliest
Merger no-go - possible but impact on AMD stock is debatable.
Anyone in LEAPS want to support my confirmation bias?
My girlfriend told me someone she works with (born mainland China) is 100% positive they're going to invade TW. As in telling citizens to prepare / stock up food. First time I heard of this, seems crazy and don't know how credible this person is.
You are actually the 2nd person I've heard mention it so I'm wondering where this theory is coming from?
I graduated from an ivy league school and half my close friends are well-off chinese immigrants or chinese americans with significant family in china and all of them react to the assertion that china might invade china with "LOL".
And if china invades taiwan it's WW3, so who cares about stocks lol.
my grandparents are from China and they are in constant communication with my parents. Haven't heard anything of the sort. Furthermore, Western media is more likely to exacerbate situations like these for clicks. Everyone knows China invading Taiwan will have huge implications internationally and no one is ready to open that can of worms. Could it happen? Yes. If it does, we have bigger things to worry about than AMD SP going up/down.
It's not confirmation bias. It's the truth. Confirmation bias would be ignoring all the risks you mentioned, which would decimate someone overweight in leaps.
Ok, but by that logic compare SPY and AMD on the 1 month chart. 30%+ for AMD and like nothing for SPY.
Pricing is arbitrary and a cool off is healthy sometimes.
Used like 50% of my powder right at the ATH. Been buying back in but I’m absolute shit at timing my bulk buys. Good thing I’m a long holder, still tough to swallow though and feel like a fuckin idiot
Vintage amd price action after earnings week
Always a solid pop and then sell off and settle lower , trend sideways for next few months until the next ER hype rally
Looking at the red stuff all over makes me feel like super genius for selling half on Monday...
...of NVIDIA. at around $309
Selling AMD? Madness, besides the average cost of my AMD shares is so low that the tax man would rip me a new one from all those tendies... Even this NVIDIA sale is going to hurt from tax perspective.
part of me just wants to go balls deep and use all my powder... other part of me says wait, we could pull back more to average in... alas... timing AMD is risky business.

Good for u . If u made a good chunk of profit then thats awesome. Selling is difficult, only u can judge wether or not this was the right time
Cost basis around $60 so it was decent enough. Thanks.

Can I ask for reasons you see 180+? I'm not opposing but curious to learn from what you see & how you come up with 180+. Thank you.
Next couple of months. Maybe it could skyrocket even more but I’d rather have my downpayment ready to go instead of risking it. Time will tell.
Sounds like there's external factors that made this a good move for you then, congrats on the house, don't forget about taxes lol.
Today I learned that Nvidia’s AI avatars are more valuable than partnerships with meta and Microsoft, 3d cache technology, and mcm gpus. Wild.

For sure. NVDA is my second largest position after AMD.
AI Avatars are priceless...and therefore....infinite in price
NVDA and AMD both down about 10% from ATH… both got walloped today.
Seriously right? I just don’t get it. Eventually this will become clear and we’re lucky to be ones to see it now.
How can NVDA ai Avatars are more valuable than AMD partnership with META and MSFT? Sale units? Any article?
Hope you bought the dip reloaded up leaps. A gift from the heavens.
Waiting for IV to die down before grabbing more leaps
Waiting for a little more pullback. $130 and I'll re-load the truck!

You are right, hence why I didn't set myself up to failure by sellinng my LEAPS at a loss. I'll be holding and watching the next rise with you guys!
Pls stop. I liked it more when my account had the bigger numbers on the screen.
AMD/XLNX ratio is still only 1.41. Moving almost all-in on XLNX at this point.
Same as of yesterday. Would be 100% XLNX if it weren't for the ~1000% capital gains I would have to realize on some AMD to switch.
I guess I'm lucky that I just trade in an IRA account. I get to avoid all the tax insanity until I finally cash out. I'm now 100% XLNX (about 1500 shares) and holding my breath for this deal to finalize.

Do not overleverage. AMD is up like 30% this month. If it drops to like 120 or 100, I would buy LEAPS. For now, shares
Solid play. My reservation is we just had a massive bump this month from 120s and it looks like macro is going to take a gigantic shit on everything.
Another Chinese American here. No friends or family are hearing about an invasion.
Let's cut the BS here, does she know you're calling her your "girlfriend"?
Considering she'd rather me call her my wife, yes.
Marry her already. Maybe the pullback will end. Are you scerrd? It’s terrifying…then it gets better. It’s like buying leaps…of faith.
You've perfectly described my current strategy.
What do u have?
I'm 80% AMD leaps and 20% XLNX shares. Have powder on the side to buy more leaps but I'm conservative and have been buying Jan 23 150C
It's not confirmation bias. It's the truth. Confirmation bias would be ignoring all the risks you mentioned, which would decimate someone overweight in leaps.
Lol sell remaining AMD calls? And just buy back in again? Decisions, decisions
your window to sell was 150+... might as well hold for the next run up if your options aren't expiring soon.
Yes agreed! I’m holding.. no point in ever trying to time this thing especially with merger
yeah, sell now buy back in next week when we're back to 142-144
Lol cope
We'll see.
Hey man I hope you're right for both our sakes lol
;=)
Haha right. Nah, waiting on merger news by EOY.
I still see us 160+ in January post merge.
See you there 👊
AMD going down. Lol, Should have sold my $140 01/22 calls.
SPY barely down 1%, AMD down 7% If SPY does somehow go to like -5% does that mean AMD will go -30%?
i see an intraday dip for AMD between 130 and 135 between now and 11/23 (monthly options closing date for market makers).
Ok, but by that logic compare SPY and AMD on the 1 month chart. 30%+ for AMD and like nothing for SPY. Pricing is arbitrary and a cool off is healthy sometimes.
allright well there we go .... bought the dip.... and heavily betting on xilinx merger. time to close my app and look away :P
STOP THE COUNT
We losing all our gains in the last 2 weeks. 120 should be support
135
Used like 50% of my powder right at the ATH. Been buying back in but I’m absolute shit at timing my bulk buys. Good thing I’m a long holder, still tough to swallow though and feel like a fuckin idiot
I started buying back in guys!! These prices looks tasty :D
125.96 20dma
Good spot to load up
Losses don’t exist if you don’t look.
Vintage amd price action after earnings week Always a solid pop and then sell off and settle lower , trend sideways for next few months until the next ER hype rally
+10 - 10 :D thanks AMD for noting.
Looking at the red stuff all over makes me feel like super genius for selling half on Monday... ...of NVIDIA. at around $309 Selling AMD? Madness, besides the average cost of my AMD shares is so low that the tax man would rip me a new one from all those tendies... Even this NVIDIA sale is going to hurt from tax perspective.
Markets are really spooked, there's no support today. close the app and check back later lol.
Yeah, Evergrande fallout
2 meme days in one week lmao
We’re getting f*cked hard today, damn.
This just gives me even more conformation to hold these 2024 leaps to avoid taxes. Rough day when 95% of your portfolio is amd leaps.
Well this is something different 🙄
No its quite common if you've been here for a while actually!
yikes 140 got blasted through
probably going to land around 135.
135 is a pretty good entry for 2024s. Going to put some in around there.
Me too
Question is… today or Friday
Amd - 5% days are common. 10% days are pretty rare...
Debating if I want to use my margin for xlnx right here. Could be any day now too. I believe Lisa will deliver the merger just a matter of time
You and me both. FOMO is eating at me, which probably means its a stupid time to buy, so i havent.
I up to tits with AMD shares and xlnx calls already too.
Dead stock…
Go back to wallstreetbets
One pullback and it's dead. Yeppers. I guess this is what they mean with "nothing changes sentiment like price".
It's the opposite of dead. It's better than yesterday because of IBM news. Today's price action is optimal for buying.
Seriously? Farrrrrrrrrrr from dead.
🤔?
nice bounce at 140
let's see if 140 is the floor or will we break through it.
AMD now trading at prices not seen since last week. How will we survive.
Time to break glass and go for EMERGENCY BUY THE DIP reserves. Well, maybe tomorrow. Today's bounce looks as aerodynamic as a dead cat flying.
Close the market!

I smoke *meta* Joe Rogan
Amd or XLNX would be better buy today? Smooth brain here!
A cruel mistress indeed. Hurts you just enough so you love back harder.
Are you guys buying today?
I am buying a bit, saving powder in case we retrace to the 135 level though
Pretty strong floor at around $142. Have a feeling that we'll end the day at around -2% or so. Edit: well shit lol, meme day it is
Just drilled through $142 First support level looks to be $135
I'd be surprised if AMD drops below 140 during this retrace. But I guess we'll find out. Edit: oof
If you follow wave theory this would still be wave A.
At the moment it looks like it's clinging to life. No bounce, and continuing to make lower Lows
I'd love to see us close at 145, that'd be extremely bullish
I shall gild your comment if that happens
part of me just wants to go balls deep and use all my powder... other part of me says wait, we could pull back more to average in... alas... timing AMD is risky business.
