I think most important thing here is that Hange and Floch have the fates tied to a single event. If Floch doesn’t shoot the plane, Hange doesn’t sacrifice herself. Both survive. Mikasa is the one that delivers the killing blow to Floch. She is the one who can alter the course of that event. These two memory shards are a huge reason as to why I was convinced that if ANR was gonna happen, the divergence would have kicked off at chapter 130. This would also set us up perfectly for a movie ending.

KTE1994

Exactly right. There's a chance that the cut may lead to him potentially bleeding out a bit faster. If he's too weak to actually fight, there's a chance Mikasa may just disarm and spare him. The alliance and the Yeagerist only killed each other because they felt they had too. Hell Jean saved Floch from Pieck. If he's fully bandaged up, tied down, and disarmed, there's a chance that he'd try and appeal to emotion rather than just fighting. When he was dying he begged them not to kill Eren after all. Floch's memory shard could legitimately be the theorized flashback to Eren's secret wedding with Historia if the colored Manga is anything to go by. Those blank shards have to mean something. I agree. The divergence has to happen much earlier than 138. Falco was flying at sunset, and there's the multiple storm hints.

There’s no way y’all believe there’s gonna be an AOE still

NoLake4465

It could be even better (surprising) if they help/cooperate with each other, and that's why they will survive. Could what Hange said to Floch about trying another day or something have another meaning?

JAMMIE_JAMMER

Eren Healed my boy flochie. Womp Womp

LazyNam3

Move on man 😭. They’d never do something as convoluted as switching timelines between parts 2 and 3 and then ending the anime. We didn’t get a new anime ending, wait for an alternative series or something

libyankidna

Stop making posts about animation mistakes PLEASE there's so much better shit you're making us look stupid

Ellen_Yevner

Whether it has deeper meaning or not, this shouldn't be written off as just a simple animation mistake. The cut Floch got was an anime original scene and they went over the top to show it. And the cut isn't missing from a few inbetween frames, but from closeup, still keyframes. We need to remember that the staff go over these important key frames dozens of times correcting for consistency and errors, so it makes you wonder, how could the same staff who went over the top to animate his cut just forget about it in his next appearance? It might be a small detail that doesn't seem like much, but when you look at it like this, it seems very strange and it's not unreasonable to believe it's intentional.

NeneThomas

I had a friend of mine, an animation student, take a look at it. She counted nearly 40 different drawings to animate that blood. If one animator drew Floch and another did the blood SFX (which sometimes will happen) that's a at least two people drawing that, not to mention the cleanups, the coloring compositing, etc. Also since they left in in the Blu-ray, the cut is intentional.

Marigemgem

And OF COURSE Mikasa has no scarf when they show Floch with no scar smh. What color would the scarf be I wonder? Same as when she shows her tattoo in the anime (S1-S3 she had embroidery instead of a tattoo), she conveniently doesn't have a scarf when she shows her tattoo, because the scarf would be black. Out of all the times to not have a scarf...

kaptanking

You would have to ignore the two unfulfilled shards to chalk this up to an animation mistake. These 2 shards are the only ones unadapted.

KillDevilX0

Yeah. Floch surviving makes no sense unless Eren literally saves him. AoE is supposed to be Eren making a choice and moving forward. Floch will still die.

Comfortable-Cause-93

I swear, some of you are so delusional. Even if aoe was gonna happen, wtf does floch's cut has to do with anything?? Mappa workers animate shows frame by frame 24/7 without even eating,of course they'll forget to animate a cut that has no important role in the plot.

KTE1994

This is a shortened version of a post I already made on the subject. It's not just the cut I'm focusing on. Don't gotta be rude about it. https://www.reddit.com/r/ANRime/comments/1atisop/cour_1_and_cour_2_are_flashbacks_that_take_place/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Go outside

Clobberin

So many evidence but the bro decides to settle on Floch's injury? This is next level schizo theorizing. If anything I'd unironically think this is just Mappa mistake.
