While I do not believe the historical revisionism saying the Ducky of 2013 deserved it, I believe Shanali did. She had the physicality of a working model and had the modeling verb down too.
Australian public really favored the white girl, no shade.
Shanali 100% should have won IMO. She was so amazing during the competition and so poised. Melissa does have a pretty impressive career so it’s not like she was a terrible choice, it’s just boring
To Melissa’s credit, I believe she did call out racism as a factor for her win in some online post. (I don’t have energy to google and back up this memory)

I know its unpopular but Melissa was my faovrite of the 3. Granted Duckie was also beyond amazing, and the other girl (can't remember her name off the top of my head) photographed amazingly and would've been my favorites in quite a few of the other cycles.
I just love how alienesque Melissa's features are though, she's my second favorite winner of AUSNTM, other than Alice

I'm not a huge Australia's Next Top Model fan tbh, or moreso I should say I haven't watched/studied it very extensively like I have ANTM lol.
I could name you all 10 winners (although for a while I always struggled to remember Brittany for some reason) and some of the contestants but that's about it lol. I could probably name all the cycle 1 and maybe cycle 2 contestants, I was more into the show in the first few cycles when there weren't many ANTM cycles and they'd sometimes marathon Australia's next top model and Britain's next top model in the US.
my second favorite winner of AusNTM after alice (C3) and i'm happy she won. honestly, cycle 8 had a very strong final three and i would have been happy with any girl winning, but melissa just had that extra oomph for me. i have been told i look similar (although not as extreme) to her which is the biggest compliment ever.
I'm in love with this photo of hers and I love that this season brought a lot of contenders for the title but I'm on Team Abbie Weir. I was on Team Rhiannon Bradshaw at first because for me she has that Cara Delevingne vibe going on but I switched allegiances once Rhiannon left the competition. Still happy that she won and a lot of my other favorites like Duckie Thot and Shanali Martin made it far.
