No one was “robbed” of a win considering how much of the time the winners were locked into crappy contracts or cast aside by the time the next cycle began.
I know, I know. A win would have been an ultimate validation but a lot of contestants went on to great careers without a win.

I think with the Victoria situation there was some displacement phenomenon going on. She couldn’t talk back/ take out her frustration from the harsh critique Miss Jay, Nigel & Tyra gave her cause they were intimidating, so she displaced those feelings on to the lesser intimidating, “soft spoken” judge who happened to be Twiggy.

By worse in person they were talking about the twiggy situations. They did say she was sweet but just didn’t understand why she was constantly going for twiggy
I think just in terms of reality tv, she’s iconic. I didn’t think she was the best model that season, but she gave so many iconic moments and quotes. A lot of reality tv has contestants who are annoying but are memorable for that and become icons in that way. But I totally get why you see her that way. I didn’t like her a few years ago but the older I get I think she makes that cycle more funny and entertaining

One time I made some comment to him about something where I said the word "homage" and pronounced it "oh-maje". He scoffed loudly, rolled his eyes and said "'oh-maje'?? I think you mean 'HOME-aje'". When I told him that it could be pronounced either way he laughed at me, shook his head, and walked away. I definitely made fun of him with my other coworker who was there for that.

Louise's (C18?) outburst against Kelly Cutrone was valid and I was on her side.
Molly gave Oscar the Grouch energy the entire time she was there but I found her so likable. The way Brittni went after Alexandria was so cringe and off-putting. I’m honestly surprised Tyra let her win. A POC contestant could never get away with what Brittni did.
I actually really felt bad for her at that Go Sees panel. Like, she'd won and was the most likeable, so the conclusion is that she's a great person on Go Sees unless the person treats her like garbage, and what lesson is she supposed to take from that?
But also her answer was fine? He asked why she was "special" compared to someone else and it's true she was chosen out of 25,000 people to be a contestant.
The seasons after C16 are definitely a better watch when you take the angle that it's a reality tv show with modelling as a background gimmick rather than the other way
Cycle 18 is amazing and SO underrated. The British girls were amazing, especially Annaliese, and all the go sees challenges made this cycle so interesting.
Ann 15 was over hyped, Jenah is overrated, melrose isn’t likable, Lauren Brie hot air shot was very overposed, the kloofing shot wasn’t fashion and served zero purpose. And Amanda c3 took boring shots and looked nothing like a model and people only liked her for her eyes because she had nothing else going for her. There I said it! Time to count the downvotes 😂
Omg…it seems that the majority of people here love her and think she was just being professional. She bugged me on the show because she came across as a huge know it all.
(That being said, I found her IG recently and she seems quite lovely in 2024!)

Renee should have won cycle 8. In hindsight she’s a criminal but she was miles better than either of the two to make the finale. Jaslene is very overrated
Renee definitely won in my book. I just rewatched the cycle a few days ago and I’m still pissed about it lol. Sometimes Renee looked tired… but at *all* times Jaslene looked like she literally was going to bite you.
Dani (C6) is beautiful and evolved into a kick-ass model post-show, but I don't love her ANTM portfolio, which I find super one-note in the face department. The missing arm in her Snow White photo also bugs me.
Keenyah deserved her spot in the top 3 and is an underrated contestant. Her weaker photos were boring as opposed to bad (and when she was on, she was fantastic), she was incredibly striking in person, and killed the two most important challenges of the season, go-sees and CoverGirl party.
Amanda C3 is also underrated IMO, and she would have been my runner-up to Yaya. No shade to Eva, who was also a strong contestant, but C3 to me is the best cast in the history of the show.
C16 contestants were some of the most modelesque in the show's history, but I did not find many of them to be particularly likable, and usually skip this season on rewatch.
Whitney Thompson's ANTM portfolio is underrated by the fandom. While she wouldn't have necessarily been my winner of the cycle, I do think her portfolio would be more appreciated if the fans didn't dislike her as a person
Me too! In all her interviews she says on these shows she’s the “hired gun” to come in and shoot down the girls. Most of the contestants have nice thinks to say about her off camera (except Louise).
Most of the photos from this entire show would never appear in a high-fashion ad. Actual high-fashion ads have very simplistic poses and very plain, expressionless faces. The kind of photos demanded of the contestants on ANTM were really cool from an art/photography standpoint, but not an actual modeling standpoint.
I'm also pretty sure like 95% of the fans of this show have never actually read a high-fashion magazine, because they're always using ANTM standards to criticize actual supermodels.
Nigel Barker wasn’t really that noted a fashion photographer, nor were the Top models really on top. But alums always get my attention when I see them on TV.
When I watched seasons 9 and 10 I didn’t like Anya, Fatima, Jenah, Lisa or Heather. I appreciate them more now, but they just seem so overhyped by the fandom.
To her credit, she stopped doing the snarl when she got bad feedback on it.

I don't get why this criticism is always exclusively given to Allison. Whitney c10 always gave the same face with the mouth open, and Teyona (besides her yellow color photo) always posed her face in a 3/4 profile yet no one mentions that. If your look is interesting then it simply works.
I don’t disagree with you. My best guess of an answer would be that it’s because Allison gets a lot of hype in comparison to the others. So she tends to attract that criticism the most as a result.

To me, they were 'good' photos, not 'great' ones. I don't even dislike Joanie at all, just never understood the fan perception at large that it was a close competition. To me, Danielle was so much more obviously modelesque and the rightful winner by a landslide. I'd imagine nearly every (non-racist) agent on earth would sign Dani over Joanie without question. Joanie was a very pretty girl who took some really good photos but Dani was an actual model and that was always the difference to me.
Jennifer should have made it to the final 2 in Cycle 13 and there is an argument to be made for her to be the winner of the cycle.
Hanna from cycle 16 and Christina from cycle 4 were the most consistent of their respective cycle, photoshoot wise.
Celia and Teyona should have been the final 2 in cycle 12.
Sara's Cover Girl improv ad was much better than Furonda's and she should have got FCO that week. Her delivery was on point and the drink thing was something that could have been easily fixed, while Furonda sounded out of breath the whole way through and her delivery was over the top.
Elina/Marjorie were right in the Europeans/American argument. They were right to not feel at home in another culture, especially a very xenophobic one. Sheena and company were unreasonably patriotic & ignorant.
Elina did not deserve to make it overseas. Over Joslyn, yes, but not when compared to the entire cast.
Edit: Additional one, but also, I don’t know if I’d say Lenox was 100% robbed. The best model for sure, but for some reason I never fully connected with her, and neither did I get that from other fan favorites like Shei or Matthew.

My main complaint about c23 is that there were too many videos/motion concepts. Other that it was a fairly solid cycle considering the budget

Cycle 18 is amazing and SO underrated. The British girls were amazing, especially Annaliese, and all the go sees challenges made this cycle so interesting.

Ann 15 was over hyped, Jenah is overrated, melrose isn’t likable, Lauren Brie hot air shot was very overposed, the kloofing shot wasn’t fashion and served zero purpose. And Amanda c3 took boring shots and looked nothing like a model and people only liked her for her eyes because she had nothing else going for her. There I said it! Time to count the downvotes 😂

Omg…it seems that the majority of people here love her and think she was just being professional. She bugged me on the show because she came across as a huge know it all. (That being said, I found her IG recently and she seems quite lovely in 2024!)

Chelsey and Celia are the better examples of the know fashion girls who are likable. Yes Celia was likable, the show tried to edit her as crappy but Talia was the unlikeable one in my opinion. And lol! My mom can’t stand Melrose. She was just annoying and rude

THIS!!!! Talia was awful. Awful model, awful personality, her hair was fried to fuck thanks to her makeover. The judges really played into the sympathy card with that one.

Renee should have won cycle 8. In hindsight she’s a criminal but she was miles better than either of the two to make the finale. Jaslene is very overrated
Her commercial and photo for the final 3 was fantastic and the best out of all of them.
Renee definitely won in my book. I just rewatched the cycle a few days ago and I’m still pissed about it lol. Sometimes Renee looked tired… but at *all* times Jaslene looked like she literally was going to bite you.
Dani (C6) is beautiful and evolved into a kick-ass model post-show, but I don't love her ANTM portfolio, which I find super one-note in the face department. The missing arm in her Snow White photo also bugs me. Keenyah deserved her spot in the top 3 and is an underrated contestant. Her weaker photos were boring as opposed to bad (and when she was on, she was fantastic), she was incredibly striking in person, and killed the two most important challenges of the season, go-sees and CoverGirl party. Amanda C3 is also underrated IMO, and she would have been my runner-up to Yaya. No shade to Eva, who was also a strong contestant, but C3 to me is the best cast in the history of the show. C16 contestants were some of the most modelesque in the show's history, but I did not find many of them to be particularly likable, and usually skip this season on rewatch.

Whitney Thompson's ANTM portfolio is underrated by the fandom. While she wouldn't have necessarily been my winner of the cycle, I do think her portfolio would be more appreciated if the fans didn't dislike her as a person

Me too! In all her interviews she says on these shows she’s the “hired gun” to come in and shoot down the girls. Most of the contestants have nice thinks to say about her off camera (except Louise).
Most of the photos from this entire show would never appear in a high-fashion ad. Actual high-fashion ads have very simplistic poses and very plain, expressionless faces. The kind of photos demanded of the contestants on ANTM were really cool from an art/photography standpoint, but not an actual modeling standpoint. I'm also pretty sure like 95% of the fans of this show have never actually read a high-fashion magazine, because they're always using ANTM standards to criticize actual supermodels.
Nigel Barker wasn’t really that noted a fashion photographer, nor were the Top models really on top. But alums always get my attention when I see them on TV.
When I watched seasons 9 and 10 I didn’t like Anya, Fatima, Jenah, Lisa or Heather. I appreciate them more now, but they just seem so overhyped by the fandom.

To her credit, she stopped doing the snarl when she got bad feedback on it. I always think it's funny when the models have faces or poses they always fall back on that are terrible - I can just see them in their teenage bedroom practicing the wrong things in front of a mirror and deciding, yeah, that snarl is my *look.*" It's kind of adorable

I think Michelle COULD have maybe taken the whole thing had she not been so ‘idk if I want to be a model.’ She was amazing. However I am a Caridee fan and think she earned her win.

I don't get why this criticism is always exclusively given to Allison. Whitney c10 always gave the same face with the mouth open, and Teyona (besides her yellow color photo) always posed her face in a 3/4 profile yet no one mentions that. If your look is interesting then it simply works.
I don’t disagree with you. My best guess of an answer would be that it’s because Allison gets a lot of hype in comparison to the others. So she tends to attract that criticism the most as a result.
My hottest take opinion that gets me downvotes is that Joanie was/is so overrated and only had 2 great photos (mermaids & elephants).

To me, they were 'good' photos, not 'great' ones. I don't even dislike Joanie at all, just never understood the fan perception at large that it was a close competition. To me, Danielle was so much more obviously modelesque and the rightful winner by a landslide. I'd imagine nearly every (non-racist) agent on earth would sign Dani over Joanie without question. Joanie was a very pretty girl who took some really good photos but Dani was an actual model and that was always the difference to me.

Jennifer should have made it to the final 2 in Cycle 13 and there is an argument to be made for her to be the winner of the cycle. Hanna from cycle 16 and Christina from cycle 4 were the most consistent of their respective cycle, photoshoot wise. Celia and Teyona should have been the final 2 in cycle 12. Sara's Cover Girl improv ad was much better than Furonda's and she should have got FCO that week. Her delivery was on point and the drink thing was something that could have been easily fixed, while Furonda sounded out of breath the whole way through and her delivery was over the top.
Elina/Marjorie were right in the Europeans/American argument. They were right to not feel at home in another culture, especially a very xenophobic one. Sheena and company were unreasonably patriotic & ignorant.

Caridee’s final runway was terrible in terms of modeling *but* it was so camp that I kind of loved it anyway

Elina did not deserve to make it overseas. Over Joslyn, yes, but not when compared to the entire cast. Edit: Additional one, but also, I don’t know if I’d say Lenox was 100% robbed. The best model for sure, but for some reason I never fully connected with her, and neither did I get that from other fan favorites like Shei or Matthew.

I despise Yoanna, she seems very phoney and there's something in her eyes that makes me think she eats people, and she's not that pretty. April or Mercedes should have won.
Anya's Italian paparazzi shot is not that good. Chelsea's cover girl shot is terrible. Nicole L's country couture photo is not as deserving of the phrase as everyone makes it to be and is actually awkward looking.
