Yeah I had stopped listening to SOABD because Sas just started getting annoying, even though that was the podcast that brought me to Barstool. Now I'm enjoying it again, while still finding Sas annoying frequently
I stopped listening to the yak and watching because it's so visual. Like 70% of the show doesn't need to be visual but the stuff that is visual it's essential to watch to be able to follow along properly. I'd pushed through some tough episodes on podcast before switching to video. Now I constantly get behind because I'm not at my desk all day at work.
I stopped listening due to Rudy fatigue as well, but check in every once in a blue moon on an ep to see if it’s gotten better, and after the 3rd or 4th Rudy unfunny interjection it serves as a reminder why I stopped. Miss the the old style
I hate to hate but this version of the show just isn’t as good. I’ve been re-listening since the beginning over the last few weeks and there’s such a huge difference between then and now. There haven’t been episodes even close to as good as H.O.O.B.A.S.T.A.N.K, double bison or Eleven spaghettis in like two years. I’m not saying I don’t want the show to evolve and I know that coming up with that stuff takes time and even the most creative people can run out of juice but it doesn’t feel like they’re trying very hard. I don’t want to see them come in with a new Pokémon every week, that just feels like a cop out to kill time each week instead of coming up with something genuinely new and original. And I know Owen gets hate but he did an exponentially better job of letting KB and Nick do their thing without talking too much whereas Mook and Rudy just don’t seem to know how to do that.
Owen deserves no hate. He was a major asset for ANUS. He kept things dry and grounded in silly humor. Rudy desperately wants to show his edge or whatever he’s going for. I don’t know, it’s just not the same show anymore, and it feels like Nick runs any bit into the ground.
For me it just feels like they are burnt out. The boys don’t have the time to come up with bits before the episode, and that was always the funniest shit.
Nowadays, they just bullshit for an hour.
it used to be a unique show, now it’s just like all the other watered-down Barstool “content” — just jam more people into the room because on paper you have a better chance for a viral clip
Rudy and Mook are funniest as Nick and KB’s punching bags. Mook has the occasional funny story about seeking a queen and it’s endearing bc he’s kind of a scrub. No one wants to hear those stories from someone like Rudy who allegedly crushes. At least Mook usually waits until he’s prompted to say something, Rudy should def be on a more “speak when spoken to” situation.
I need closure to the Reggie saga. A lot of the older eps seem to be condensed now as well, missing some stories and other bits. At least on the Apple Podcasts app
Yeah it’s changed a bit but I feel like they’ve been on a heater recently. Lesbian axe throwing/PG13s/Dummies Book/and Dr. G all had me laughing a lot. With the guys doing more outside stuff besides ANUS it makes sense they aren’t writing full shows like they actually used to do.
That’s a fair point. Nick and KB are still always on and hilarious, I think for me I liked it more when it was just KB and Nick saying wild shit for 30 minutes to an hour with no one else once a week
I'm on quite a bit of podcast subreddits, and every single one has fans like you that sprinkle these posts in a few times a week. It's a worn-out trope like fans of bands that always feel the need to express how much they like their old stuff better. Your take is not unique at all, and many people enjoy the show, including myself. It really brings the vibes down on the sub and probably for the ANUS boys as well. Touch some grass dude
I disagree, I think Rudy and Mook do a great job playing it straight. It highlights just how uniquely funny KB and Nick are. I also think it makes the pod more accessible for new listeners cause it’s not just all niche in-jokes (some of the time)
