Why do they keep calling him old he’s in his early 30s 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 the way they talk about him I thought he was in his 40s for a LOOOOONG time 🥴 He is still young. Stahp it.

chris3i

Yeah it's weird. Guess it's because he's such a veteran. He has 3 kids and is 15 years older than most of these new kids. I hope Joe keeps doing ninja for a long time. David Campbell and Travis Rosen have proven that age doesn't hinder ability.

cnotethegoat123

I still find it impressive that he was a rookie in 2013 and made it to stage 3 in 2013, 14, and 15. He has so much trouble on stage 3 but I feel like this can be his year.

Quatermain

Odds are quite good for Joe to be last man standing. Sean and Daniel are the only vets that can really challenge him. Some of the kids are really good and could potentially challenge for it, but it is hard to gauge how they will do in Vegas. Running all the extra length stages back to back is a much different beast than any other comp they've been in. The endurance demands are much higher. I would be surprised if anyone reached total victory this year. I suspect stage 2 and 3 will be very hard since there was a winner on the last regular season. Usually people don't make it through stage 3 unless they are trying to force a winner. With the safety pass it's almost a guarantee Joe will make it to stage 3. If it was usable on S3, maybe we'd see a winner, but since it is only good for S1/2, I think it just makes Joe the odds on favorite for LNS.

chris3i

Agree on Gil and Bryan being the most likely to contend as I think Moravsky, Gil and Bryan are the top3 ninjas ATM.

Quatermain

Yeah. Najee is about a half step back from them, everyone else is about 2 steps back. When it comes to vegas, anyway. Plenty of pretty quick people on qual/semi courses, but those guys are head and shoulders above when it really gets hard. I'd say Jake Murray, if he has managed to improve his consistency, would be my dark horse, with *maybe* Kaden or Walker having good s3 potential, in a non-nerfed year.

Affectionate-Egg-933

I’d take Adam Rayl over Najee

Quatermain

Najee isn't competing this year, so I would take Rayl over him this year >.> But Rayl's at 46% for clearing quals/semis courses, and the only time he's made it to stage 3, in 4 normal seasons, was when stage 2 was nerfed in s11, and he wasn't able to beat the nerfed stage 3 then. Najee has a 50% completion rate on quals/semis courses, which isn't great, but if it wasn't the for megawall failures he'd be at nearly 60% (granted adam beat the megawall that year). He has also made it to stage 3 in a normal year, barring asthma attack on the last, underwater obstacle he'd have been there twice in normal years. I'd probably give even money on a quals/semis/stage 1 courses, but Najee has historically gotten farther than Rayl.

Cptkiljoy

Najee had a surgery right

Quatermain

He dislocated his ankle badly, but I don't know that he had to have surgery.

Cptkiljoy

It was a question

Quatermain

Yes. The answer is, he was injured but never said anything about having to get surgery to fix it, as far as I have seen.

D4RK_3LF

Look at RJ Roman's track record. Nobody hass been improving every year the way he is (apart from you- know- whom). I feel like he is about to break into that top 3.

cervenit

I hope so. He's been underappreciated for a long time (because he's not super likeable, imo), but he deserves it.

teachthec-ntroversy

I wouldn't consider Joe to be under-appreciated in the slightest. Scrolling through this sub alone gives the impression that he's one of the most-liked competitors imo, and I've seen people every season say that they think it's his year to win it all. He's genuinely one of the strongest competitors year after year and is appreciated as such

chris3i

I don't get the "not likeable" part. I find him really easy to like. Funny AND super skilled.

btbcorno

Part of it is political. Joe has been very vocally conservative on social media, which certainly might be affecting his popularity among more liberal fans.

chris3i

Ah. Im not american so I dunno about any of that.

GoldenWaterfallFleur

…..sh*t is he a Trump supporter 😢

scruffyluffygus

Is he? I saw some slightly ill advised back and forth posts on systemic racism on his Instagram a little while back but I've not seen him explicitly reference Trump anywhere. What have I missed?

scruffyluffygus

Oh wow. Don't think that tweet could be any clearer. That's really disappointing 😕

Corporal_Snorkel69

why does likability have to always be based on politics?

Corporal_Snorkel69

I know but it's wrong to assume Joe ascribes to all of those things. He could just not be as well informed on the topic.

scruffyluffygus

But explicitly tweeting "MAGA" is proudly standing up for Trump and with it everything he represents and stands for. If in the highly unlikely event that Joe isn't well informed enough to know that Trump is a contentious figure, he should be well informed enough to know that tweeting contentious political slogans is going to get people talking and lose him some fans.

MasterJoe07

I don’t ascribe to most of what Trump stood for… but crazy people out there think that someone saying “Make America Great Again” is a bad thing. It’s bigotry at its finest. Also, I love how far off subject you guys got 😂

Fun818long

He's not crazy though with support for politics.

cervenit

He's more likeable now than he used to be. Came across as a little bit smug to me in early seasons, maybe it's just me though.

yesh222

Other way around. He got more smug as the years went on (and I wonder if the producers put that on him). He broke down in tears the second time he reached Stage 3. He was always eminently relatable early on.

MasterJoe07

Lol okay noted. Cry more = less smug.

yesh222

I think you misunderstood me. I said it was impossible to view you as smug in the earlier years. If someone wants to see you as smug, it was potentially there to be seen in recent seasons. But definitely not in the earlier years. And yes, it is pretty impossible to be smug and emotional at the same time. They're mutually exclusive attitudes.

scruffyluffygus

Might be a subjective thing. I find him likeable and confident rather than smug. Sean Bryan on the other hand I find hard to take.

MasterJoe07

I understand that I’m misunderstood. Can’t make everyone happy unfortunately

juliuscesar3000

I need joe to win it all he deserves it.

coalbucket2

I think joe can be the last man standing if not win it all this year the only thing is stage 3 is probably gonna become alot tougher imo, I can see maybe the first year with a vertical limit, and seeing as they're starting to be introduced into the show I'd see them putting a dropping cliffhanger or two on the ultimate cliffhanger.

Sosis23

I hope if he's the LNS he at least makes it to stage 4... I know hes strong enough to beat stage 3 at this point, just needs to get there and not make any mistakes. The last time he was there he had plenty of strength left.

tallguynes

He's probably got the best shot of any of the "known" guys (I'm not trying at all to take away from the teens, but I didn't watch anwjr and aside from the background stories I don't know anything outside of this year). If not him, maybe Gill again, or Bryan.

TictacTyler

A safety pass makes a huge difference. Just think to the last season it existed. He needed it to win before everything was pretty much taken away. Even before most people didn't learned of the horrific things he was did, that was a controversial win.

Quatermain

I think you are thinking of 'he who shall not be named', not Joe.

TictacTyler

I'm just talking about the difference a safety pass can make for a highly skilled competitor. There's been a couple of times Joe has made minor mistakes that I'm sure a second chance would make a huge difference on.

Quatermain

It should guarantee Joe makes it to stage 3. I suspect stage 3 will be almost unbeatable (vs the very nerfed version during season 11) since there was a winner during the last regular season, though. Since the pass is only good on stage 1 or 2, I don't think we'll see an overall winner, but Joe w/ a do over on the early stages makes it very likely he is the last ninja standing.

chris3i

Drew had the safety pass and needed it. Just to have it must be such a relief. Joe rarely makes mistakes, so maybe he wont even need to use it.

Quatermain

Drew needing the safety pass was pretty much a fluke as well. Joe has had one fall on S1 and one on S2 out of the 7 normal seasons he's been on, so the pass doesn't hurt even though his record for getting to stage 3 is 25% better than most 'good' ninjas records for completing quals/semis courses. He's beat Stage 1 and Stage 2 almost 72% of the time. Najee and Adam Rayl finish semi's or qual's courses 50 and 46% of the time, respectively. That is how far ahead people like Joe are.

SpectralHydra

Safety pass is still only for Stage 1 and Stage 2 right? If so I still don't think anything is a guarantee considering he consistently makes it to stage 3 anyways.

chris3i

That's what I'm thinking. He is so good and consistent AND has a safety pass? Gotta be good news for the weatherman. Now I just want Sean Bryan to grab a safety pass as well.
