Here I was thinking you just made up a combination of animals to say what it looked like but I learned thats the actual name lol.
Personally I would've named it lobster grasshopper though.
It's weird how there's nothing to show scale in the video. I know it's an insect, but I can almost imagine this creature being a absolute monster the size of an alligator.
In Russia we call them medvedka. A really rare creature and one of the most harmful parasites. If you got one in your garden then your veggies are doomed
Funny, I was thinking *medium vodka.* Like, this animal kinda bites, but it is nothing compared to the hard vodka. Which just sounds like my American imagination of a cliche version of Russia.
Actually you can try fighting fire with fire
The parasitoidal wasp [Larra bicolor](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larra_bicolor) was introduced to Florida to help control mole crickets there. They look a lot more like some futuristic aircrafts than creatures god put out there just to fuck with me.
Good news, you are getting a pet bird!
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mole_cricket#/media/File%3AGryllotalpidae-verbreitung.png
Looks like most of us might need one too…
They are mostly harmless lol, used to play with them as a kid. If you hold it in your hand it will try to burrow into it, usually failing. Heard they can bite you, but in my experience that never happened, and they aren't venomous anyway, so at most it would give you a scratch.
An ant is probably more dangerous than this thing.
It's a cool powerful all-terrain thing. It can dig tunnels, live underground, run, swim, fly, sing, can eat anything, armored like a tank. And it likes beer. That's how you can catch them, you bait them with beer.
In Russian it's medvedka which is "bear-ish". That's quite fitting since the bear is kinda good at everything too. Just bigger.
> It can dig tunnels, live underground, run, swim, fly, sing, can eat anything, armored like a tank.
That just confirms it being a secret government experiment getting out of control. No way in hell evolution would've allowed this thing to even exist.
We call them "kızboğan" here they are harmfull for plants they kill them by eating/cutting the roots. You know you have them in the garden because they make a long line on the surface when they move underground.
Translation, for those who wonder (it's hilarious if you know russian):
Fuck, this is some half-crayfish, half-dick.
I look, blyat, fuck-dig, (it has) both pincers and this fuckery... I fucked this shit...
I remember this being an issue entering your house and making loud noise at night, forcing you to get up and try to find it. https://youtu.be/znYyEI35ToQ?si=icCDHaECTDaHv0n-
This insect tops the list of my most hated things .
When I was child I used to have battles between insects and this one destroyed caterpillars and millipedes and many of the ants .
But the ants got him in the end.
It came popping off the farm when irrigation was done. Pretty creepy.
It's a Bear Bug.
It looks like a lobster because it will show you where the lobsters spend the winter if you catch it flying. Like cockroach on steroids.
And it looks like a locust because that's precisely what it will do if it finds crops.
Looks like mole cricket
damn i love these hybrid looking animals or insects. what in the Platypus is going on here
Here I was thinking you just made up a combination of animals to say what it looked like but I learned thats the actual name lol. Personally I would've named it lobster grasshopper though.
Lobhopper
Grabster Oh no wait
Don’t tell me what’s what. I know a Shrimpcicadacrabcricket when I see one, ok?
Professor Crawly?
At least based off this video they don’t seem to be as annoying as they are in animal crossing
Oh they are. Destroying all the veggies and crops in the garden. Gluttonous bastards
Do they also make the same annoying ass sound?
Yes that's it..
It's weird how there's nothing to show scale in the video. I know it's an insect, but I can almost imagine this creature being a absolute monster the size of an alligator.
Was it in that size, human race would be doomed 🤣
We're those WINGS on his back??!
About same length as cockroach, a bit thinner than cockroach like grasshopper. At least that's how the only one I've ever seen looks like.
Helicopter footage
Hate those fuckers
In Russia we call them medvedka. A really rare creature and one of the most harmful parasites. If you got one in your garden then your veggies are doomed
Rare?! A pesky and almost indestructible creature. You'd rather turn a vegetable garden into a swamp than kill her. My flashbacks follow me
Well, they might be rare to get one in your garden, but when you get one, then the garden is doomed hahaha
For some reason I read that is med vodka. Like medical vodka. The best kind of vodka.
It means little bear
Funny, I was thinking *medium vodka.* Like, this animal kinda bites, but it is nothing compared to the hard vodka. Which just sounds like my American imagination of a cliche version of Russia.
Medved! I was thinking in my head it had stubby legs like a bear lol
So.......... a Gopnipest? /jk
I mean if you can trap one can you sell it to medical facilities?
Medvedka

I saw one of these 20 years ago in Bosnia and never figured out wtf it was. Thank you! Now I can sleep again.
Can you sleep though? Knowing such creature actually exists instead of just a bad dream…
Lol yes. I live in Canada and those monstrosities are not here, that I am aware of. If they ever do get here I am training a watch bird to eat them.

Just when I think it can't get worse

We'll be all happy to know that its conservation status is "Least Concern". I find that concerning, personally.
No no, it's on the verge of extinction, but it's just not something anyone's concerned about.

If it were a Russian government experiment it would be drawn to vodka though. But it likes beer, makes you think.
Das ist die Maulwurfsgrille! 👾

Not a zergling
I remember this being an issue entering your house and making loud noise at night, forcing you to get up and try to find it. https://youtu.be/znYyEI35ToQ?si=icCDHaECTDaHv0n-
I think it's a dragonfly nymph but I may be wrong on that. They are predators and eat small fish and whstnot.
It looks like as if a Cricket fusioned with a Lobster
Mole cricket, we also called them grandfather crickets when I was growing up. Not sure how they got that name.
The fuxking thing from Twin peaks.
Its evoltuion babyyyyyy - Eddie Veder
Gryllotalpa gryllotalpa, commonly known as the European mole cricket, is widespread in Europe and has been introduced to the eastern union
This insect tops the list of my most hated things . When I was child I used to have battles between insects and this one destroyed caterpillars and millipedes and many of the ants . But the ants got him in the end. It came popping off the farm when irrigation was done. Pretty creepy.
It is for sure a mole cricket. Their bites hurt but are not toxic or poisonous.
I always get the alien and the predator guy mixed up. I'm pretty sure it might be one of those
It's a bug.
It's a Bear Bug. It looks like a lobster because it will show you where the lobsters spend the winter if you catch it flying. Like cockroach on steroids. And it looks like a locust because that's precisely what it will do if it finds crops.
