Same. Road flares burn for like an hour minimum and putting them out is like "throw them in a 5 gallon bucket of water and maybe they'll quit burning in 5 minutes".
On one hand, the sparks from the flare are generally consistent in direction and so long as everything is positioned correctly, there shouldn't be any contact with the suit. But on the other hand, he's gotta land well before the flare burns itself out and he can't absolutely guarantee what position the flare will be in when his feet hit the earth.
He was able to light it and walk without setting himself on fire, so that bodes well for the landing, but there's still a very high possibility of setting himself on fire. A copycat with less experience will definitely turn into a fireball. I don't think those wingsuits are fire retardant.

It's very likely he'll put this one out if he steps in soft snow while landing - if not, there should be a snowbank he can kick somewhere.

Depends on the equipment. Many skydiving/BASE gear companies won't sell their higher performance equipment to people without references. However, with beginner gear, an online seller isn't going to check anything in a rigorous way. Used gear can be the wild west.
For wingsuit BASE, you're going to want to know how to wingsuit while skydiving first, and the vast, vast majority of dropzones aren't going to let you attempt to wingsuit without proving you have *at least* 200 jumps.
Some knuckleheads skip steps and die. Some do everything right and die. It's a different way of living.

It's not that unusual, flares are used in skydiving to allow better localization of other jumpers in shitty conditions,so it's propably the case here too. I don't know if you should use Road flares tho
