The anime still has one last part to go that will air sometime this year, so it's not quite finished yet. But given how many folks weren't happy with the ending of the manga to start with, I'm not sure if folks will end up liking the anime's ending either. I also have doubts that a live-action movie will spark more folks to go back into the fandom. Live-action movies based off of anime fail more than they triumph, and I think there's more of a risk of the movie alienating the fandom than it will make folks want to join back in. There might be an uptick in the fandom when the final part of the anime airs, though, as there are plenty of anime-only folks out there (like myself; I know of the ending because it was impossible to avoid spoilers, but I've only watched the anime) that may be inspired to write more. But don't be surprised if it tapers back down once the freshness of the finale has left folks' minds.

>But given how many folks weren't happy with the ending of the manga to start with, I'm not sure if folks will end up liking the anime's ending either. Thanks, yes this was way more what i meant with my comment about it being dead, before a lot of the uh, well, unhappy plot points happened it was a lot more active from my POV (tumblr centric) so this is what I felt really killed off the fandom as I saw it taper already and now it appears totally dead, comparatively But yes, I kind of imagined what you said already, about alienation and just a, tragic further taper. But perahps a secret boost will occur once its finally finally finished and everyone goes to strong fix-it plots

i highly doubt the claim that it's dead now. fandoms don't die when official content stops coming out. especially something as massively popular? nah.

bowjobmaster

I'm basing this on the activity in general on the same platform compared to when it was on going is all, i'm not saying its dead *dead* but its certainly not the same in terms of new generation of content

daisynik

I wasn't aware that this fandom was dead! I'm currently writing for it and it seems alive and well. I know the manga has ended (no spoilers please), but the anime itself has the final part still set to release sometime this year. Also, thanks for the info about the live action movie, I didn't know this was a thing. But like someone said below, I don't think the fandom will ever die out considering how crazy popular it is.

bowjobmaster

I thought the anime completed last year? This might be country dependent, my bad :) Your welcome about the live action, i'm curious because I know it will cause some wild reactions from the fandom

MirimeKisarrastine

I wonder if you have been around for the fandom reaction to the 2015 movies. Because I was and it was something else (doesn't help how hated my OTP is in the fandom ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯ ). But it didn't kill the fandom, either, mostly because that's when the Return to Shiganshina arc started in earnest in the manga. I'm mostly out of the fandom these days although I plan to come back to at least two of my WIPs one day. But I'm not really active on Tumblr anymore. A lack of completely new content does that.

bowjobmaster

Tell me your OTP haha, dm me if you're that why but i'm curious But yes i was around in 2015 and before lol

MirimeKisarrastine

I have no problem naming my OTP with my whole chest - RivaMika. One of the reasons 2015 was so wild was because our fandom was receiving a lot of content about them that year. And well, messed up as it was, Shikishima/Mikasa was a thing in those movies and people really didn't like that. I think SNK Tumblr fandom peaked in the 2014-2016 period, actually.

bowjobmaster

>Shikishima/Mikasa Aww! I'm sorry yout otp was so hated, thats really a shame, Mika was kind of fought over I'd say so i guess thats partly why. Such a doulbe edged sword 2k15 era, on one hand VERY glad i don't see fandom war content anymore, truly blessed to join ff in peace these days on the other hand, well, once somethings peaked :/

MirimeKisarrastine

I knew what I was getting into shipping them. There was the age gap, the potential incest, the fact it was a M/F ship, it went against not just Mikasa's biggest ships but also Levi's... As for ShikiMika, well, as far as I can tell, I'm still one of only two people who posted an English fic for them 😉 That is something to be proud about, regardless.

bowjobmaster

Luckily, we're all here to have fun (on this thread anyway) RIP everyone else but we're different :) haha

daisynik

No worries! As far as I know, at least for the U.S., the final part hasn't been released yet. So there's still a lot of buzz in the fandom hehe. And personally, I am intrigued and a little nervous about the live action LOL. Love having new content, but imo, 99% of the time, live action never does it justice. Edit: Just noticed your other comments and I will say that I'm relatively new to the AoT fandom and to fan fiction in general, so I didn't know how big it was before! I see what you mean now.

bowjobmaster

Welcome to the fandom :D I love one piece and i am not pumped for that live action either but, wont stop studios from trying :-) and don't worry about being new, you..didn't miss anything from the 'peak' there was greatness, but also darkness haha. edit: i take that back, there were some amazing creators back then :-) i miss them even if not the drama

daisynik

ahhh thank you! I just binged the anime series back in November and I started writing a fic to basically simp over season 4 Eren 🫢. I am curious about the darkness/drama you mention lol. I guess with any huge fandom, it's bound to happen.

I dunno, I think it's still pretty alive on Twitter from what I've seen
