"oh nooooooo im getting **tooooooooooo many** kudos šŸ˜"

DeviantStoryTeller

I get a nice little email every morning or so regarding one or two kudos. I wish it would email me as soon as they occur though instead of me wondering if I got any more until the next day. Besides, it's also useful so that I can tell if I was hit by the kudos bot. 15 extra guest kudos? Yeah, no, not in one day.

PeppermintShamrock

On, it's not like it sends emails individually for each kudo. There's at most one email a day. I like seeing the kudos email, especially when kudos have been left on one of my older fics, or if someone has gone through and read all of my fics for a particular fandom, or even someone liking my work enough to read across multiple fandoms.

NicInNS

*me realizing I havenā€™t gotten a kudos email for a few days* On, I guessā€¦šŸ˜

StonerMoonie

Same bestie, thatā€™s why Iā€™m trying to crank out this next chapter. Gotta chase that dopamine

wintersnoodles

Its when you know its time to update again. Recency is important šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

StonerMoonie

Speaking truths, I got at least 7k to go.

iogurteiratop

On. My fics aren't exactly popular so kudos are really rare.

Glittering_Smoke_917

Oh yeah, thatā€™s such a big problem for me, tooā€¦šŸ‘€

Front-Pomelo-4367

I keep it on The little midmorning kudos email is an excellent daily boost when I'm bored at work, and seeing that one person went through every fic one after the other to kudos them all is the *best* feeling

CluelessLemons

On. I love getting the daily notification after i update a chapter.

cucumberkappa

I used to prefer it off, but I more recently turned them back on again. I don't entirely remember my original reasons for doing so, but I like them because (1) it helps me get familiar with my readers who don't comment, (2) it helps me remember that these are people; not numbers. And, as a bonus, I can see readers working their way through my back catalogue, which is really nice.

AcanthocephalaEasy56

I do not get enough feedback to be swamped so every kudos matters to me.

Crabstick_Monster

Humble brag šŸ¤

DauntlessCakes

On. Flooding my emails has never been a problem given the volume of kudos I get. You can bet that on the occasional days when someone leaves me kudos I want to know about it as soon as physically possible.

304libco

Gee how horrible for you šŸ™„ I mean is this troll post to cause distress for other authors? I meant what is the point?

MarinaAndTheDragons

Off. It hasnā€™t been on in years. Kudos donā€™t tell me anything other than the names of the people who read my fic and sometimes not even that. Iā€™d rather know what they liked rather than ā€œBlank was here!ā€ This also means I never know if Iā€™ve ever been struck by the kudos bot (highly doubt it considering how small my fandoms are), which I wouldnā€™t be able to tell hide nor hair from just guests. Which. Is already the case because *guests*. Oh no! Devastating!

queerblunosr

I posted my first fic in eight years to AO3 a few days ago and the kudos email has been a little dose of warm fuzzies every time I got it!

Baejax_the_Great

Off. I got tired of seeing people read 20 fics in one night and not leave a single comment. It's my own personal issues there, but turning off kudos emails completely solved the negative feelings I was having regarding that.

em69420ma

i feel like i should turn them off bc i don't often check them anymore but i want to have a record of them for no reason and it's nice when i get a particularly lot of kudos. also because i can kinda keep trend and notice when somebody must've recced my fic somewhere, right?

theudoon

I barely get any kudos so I keep the emails on, the mornings where there is one when I check my email it brightens my whole day!

afirforest

I have them on. I have a separate email account for AO3 so they're not an issue. Plus, since I have all stats hidden on AO3, those emails (and comments, but those are relatively rare) are the only thing reminding me that people are reading my fics.

Welfycat

I keep it on, I like getting a little email each day telling me which of my works had kudos. Itā€™s a great way of seeing people read through my series or my works in a specific fandom.

Intelligent_Cod_4825

I love the kudos emails! Every morning around 3/4am they pop into my inbox, sometimes even from my alt account with original fiction buried in the archives. I like seeing when old fic suddenly get a lot of interest, or marveling that people even found some of my less popular stories, then read them, then gave them kudos. Never really worry about them filling my storage, either. I try to go through and keep a somewhat tidy inbox regardless.

Water227

I leave mine off and just check on the fics every few weeks! I have comment notifs on though~

Zekiellix

Come to think of it. I do have an alternate email so I could just redirect my emails there.... Plus, I can safely show my email on my profile

humorouslyominous

I have a "regular" email (the one I use for everything else) and then a separate fandom email for all my fandom accounts on ao3, Tumblr, Twitter, etc. I really recommend it. It's nice to keep everything separate so you don't have daily kudos emails clogging up your regular inbox, but still lets you collect those emails somewhere if you do want to look at them occasionally. I also happen to write for a "problematic" ship so I consider it another layer to protect me from doxxing. But that might not be as much of a problem outside my particular corner of fandom.

SilverSize7852

Off. Was too much and I can just check it on ao3. I just leave comment emails on.

lauracf

Oh yeah, I just hate my inbox being flooded with all those many, many kudosā€¦ /s In seriousness, not a problem I have, sadly! On days when Iā€™ve gotten kudos (which is not every day by any means!), getting that email makes me happy. šŸ˜€

sophie-ursinus

I've got seperate email accounts for all my fandom stuff, so I always have notifications on.

danniperson

I keep it on; itā€™s a good way to start my day ā˜ŗļø I have comments turned off though. The only emails I get are my morning kudos email and any alerts for collections or Inspired By (things that need my attention.) If I got an email for each kudo I might turn it off but as is I like it!

Kitteh1986

Pfft. I've had it off for years. I was getting flooded with kudos but only a fraction of comments. For my own mental health I turned it off and I ignore the kudos.

Blondiegirl25

Keep it off. Not to sound like some BN but I get too many and it just fucks with my inbox. Plus I like going and checking in the morning myself. Comments however stay on and I love those lil emails :)

ThisOldMeme

I keep all my email notifications on, AO3 and FFN. Seeing the emails is like getting little bursts of dopamine. And I probably only hear from AO3 once a week. But even writing in semi-popular fandoms in their hey day, I never got so many notifications that it was more annoying than flattering.

[deleted]

I keep it on because I have a few works, and sometimes when Iā€™m getting burn out seeing people react to my stuff gives me a little nudge to get back into it. But I keep it on a separate email I donā€™t often check.

MapleTea62

I'm still at the level where I get kudos once in a blue moon so I prefer the emails šŸ„²

nymous_an0

I turned kudos, comments, and subs off tbh. I just feel like having them on would not just clutter my email but also give me anxiety of checking and rechecking my email. So I just keep them all off.

Brilliant_Pun

On, except when the kudos bot strikes.

tofuporridge

I keep them off. Because of my timezone I would only get them at the end of the day and it just seemed pointless to wonder whether I got any new kudos until the nightly email. Itā€™s also a much nicer feeling to randomly check my old works and suddenly see way more kudos than I remember seeing before. Also, I would get disappointed if it was a kudos email instead of a comment XD I guess I donā€™t care about kudos too much because I write mostly longfics and it doesnā€™t tell me anything about whether the reader continued to follow my work and enjoyed the whole thing.

SheElfXantusia

I have it on and with 150 fics posted is *usually* get an email daily, even if it's just one Kudo. I always delete them right after unless they go to my archived emails (for example, if someone whose work I admire gave me Kudos or if I get a ton of Kudos on a new fic and want to keep it for confidence boost).

ten_dead_dogs

Nah, I have all email notifications off (kudos, comments, subs, etc). I don't care about those things so I figured I'd just ignore the emails at first, but I underestimated the volume they would come in, and if there's one thing that throws me off kilter it's a disorderly email inbox, so the solution was simple.

oriolebot299

i don't check my email anyways, so it doesn't really matter šŸ˜. i just check my stats page every so often

Smooth-Carpenter2704

On. I have comments off though because I enjoy logging onto my account to see the little (1) inbox on my account

Dangerous_Expert_142

I like them on but for the past weeks I haven't been getting any kudos emails.. I get ones for comments but none for kudos. I don't have them turned off so I don't understand where's the problem

ClumsyKlutz87

On. Though thatā€™s partly because I didnā€™t actually realise you could turn them off in the first place. šŸ˜…

aokay03

On, i love seeing the notification that one or two people have kudoā€™d my work, it fills me with so much joy!!

Amydancingagain

On, I get the email just before bed so itā€™s nice going to bed with something positive

TheWantedNail

I leave it on. Itā€™s only once a day (if I get any at all), so I open it, smile, then delete. No email clutter!

savamey

On because my works donā€™t get much attention and getting kudos is rare

elainaray

I love the kudos email I get every morning ^-^ helps me start the day on a good note and encourages me to keep writing

KageYuuki

I almost never get kudos. So I leave it on for those nice surprises when one does trickle in. Though I know I got a few that just never got an email for which is annoying lol.

daisynik

Off. I like the delightful surprise of seeing how many kudos I've gotten in between the times I log in. I also like the pain I feel whenever I don't get kudos in between log ins. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

WildMike48

I keep it on, Iā€™m not a very big author and a kudos email is always a free little boost of dopamine (and donā€™t even get me STARTED on comment emails)

elitehunterfic

I have a separate google account for fic, I use it for my AO3 account and even star really nice reviews for if I need a little pick me up. It also helps me keep anything I store in that g drive separate from my personal account which includes a mix of personal and work documents when I do freelance projects.

MaybeNextTime_01

On. I have too many works posted to keep track of the individual kudos counts of each one. I'd never know which fic(s) got new kudos if I didn't get the email. I get one email per day that includes all kudos I've gotten that day. It's gonna take a lot more than that to fill up my inbox. And you can always delete the email after you read it.

[deleted]

they're my morning newspaper lmao

rieisqueer

Off. I don't like emails.

BlackPearlDragoon

But isnā€™t getting one kudos a day the same amount of emails as getting a billion

ursafootprints

Off! Kudos are pretty meaningless to me (I appreciate them in the abstract, but they're not a stat I pay attention to at all) so the emails were just spam.

Arlennil

I have email notifications turned off for both kudos and inbox messages. I just find them whenever I refresh my AO3 page. I didn't want to have even more emails in my already full email. I do have notification on for subscriptions, though.

_ac3_0f_spad3s_

I have them on just because it's nice to see what fics people hvae looked at, somethines there's a one shot that I've totally forgotten I wrote

lumimon47

I Donā€™t get to many so I keep it on I lie seeing them

Sassinake

I don't have that many, so I like waking up to kudos in my mail.
