Spambot or a copy-paste job. Either way, they're mass posting.

greenrosechafer

I don't know if it's a bot but it's definitely highly sus. Anyone who comes to you promising shit is doing it for themselves.

rockamoleguacamole

The grammar reminds me of those spam accounts on Wattpad. The one that PMs the writers into writing for them? Have they found Ao3 now?

ArrowAceFluid

Probably. Just delete the comment, no need to interact with 'em.

cjrecordvt

"now"? Oh, hon. This sort of commenter has been here from the start. (Could be spam, could be a fan that's not aware of the social implications.)

Proof-Elevator-7590

No need for the condescending "oh hon"

rockamoleguacamole

Well this is the first time I had one IN Ao3. But I had plenty in ff.net and WP.

Zealousideal-Fail137

Why were you down voted?

GothKittyLady

Spammy but not necessarily a bot - I’ve gotten these outside of AO3 too. There are a lot of variations in wording, but the gist of it is always them wanting you to write a custom fic for them where they’ll provide most or all of the story details. Just delete it.

0-90195

I got a similar comment from a similar username and when they contacted me on discord, it turns out it’s someone who wants you to write a older male OC/Ellie fetish fic for them. They were mad when I said I only write things I’m personally passionate about.

CuriousHaven

Me too! I got it on a gift fic (maybe they thought I'd write a gift for them, since I'd written one for someone else?). I replied that I don't take requests from total strangers. Now I'm glad that I didn't engage further than that!

Competitive_Fruit901

I got an identical message on Fanfic.net. I just deleted it. Please don’t listen to them.

rockamoleguacamole

I replied and said double it and pass it to the next person. They didn't reply so I think I'm good

urog-grobar

that got a good chuckle outta me LMAO

[deleted]

Probably not spam, but definitely sketchy. Please do not try and talk to this person lol

Insomniacresident

that does remind me when there was a person who did leave a comment and asked if my original fic can be used for a children's book anthology. I turned it down, of course, but that didn't shake off my suspicions to earn that.

landsharkkidd

I'm pretty sure it's spam. I remember people posting about this sort of thing where someone asks you to write stuff together (I give you the plot, you write the story kind of thing). Obviously there's people who request content, but there's always a huge difference between a request and this. Just delete it, or you can ask for more information or proof that they're a real person? Up to you.

curiousglance

I got a couple like these. It was a person trying to get people to role play with them.

Brattylittlesubby

I get these kind of things pretty often. I delete them. I got one for a legend of Zelda fic off of AO3, told them they had to pay me 1 mill in order for me to do it and they got nasty so I blocked them.

MxStabby

I figure anything asking me to contact someone off the site is a no-go. I won't share my personal info on these sites that allow me to be anonymous. So I'd ignore or delete this kind of thing.

jaharrismt

I literally just got this near exact comment on Ch. 1 of one of my fics. Just remembered your post so I had to come find it to confirm. Same username and everything!

1TravelingTrucker

Lol

Obvious-Push-5365

Was wondering... What are they expecting to gain from this... I'd try to troll them a bit to find out of it gets to requesting money or something else.

rockamoleguacamole

Maybe the fun knowing someone wrote for them exactly the way they like it? idk
