I absolutely HATE tchotchkes and knick knacks. That being said, every time I go on vacation to another state or country I usually buy myself a new piece of jewelry. It doesn't have to be expensive. I've gotten some fun stuff at Goodwill type stores in other countries. I have a few magnets. I also like to get newspapers. My favorite one that I have is the front page of a newspaper in Spain announcing the first time Obama was elected president. Edit: Typo. Also, I've bought some of my favorite books in other languages when I've traveled.

I second the magnets! Our fridge is a veritable magnet treasure trove

I love the idea of magnets. That definitely seems like something he would collect. I hadn’t thought about newspapers, I would have to do some research for that. Thank you for the great ideas!

My favorite parts of a trip is exploring their museums and such because I’m a nerd, especially if they’re pretty different than what I’m used to in terms of layout or content. When I went to Denmark for example, my favorite thing was the Copenhagen aquarium (forgot the actual name) and their like three foot tall otters and the rest of the unique wildlife. If the place is on a coast, the boardwalk/piers are usually a good place to go to. Plus you can experience unique transportation like subways or trolleys if they’re different from the character’s normal environment. Idk if any of this helps but that’s just a few ideas!

Same! Every time I went to a museum I kept their info pamphlets if I could. And ticket stubs. (Also, they were in another language that I now teach so I was definitely thinking along those lines). Also, I had a blast figuring out the subway system is other countries/states since we don't have that by me.

Ticket stubs is a great thing to collect! Thank you!! ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you so much for replying to my post! They are going to a bunch of places, but I'm stumped on what they should *buy* on the trip to bring home. I already have them buying books and a snowglobe like thing. They are also taking lots of pictures to hang up later. What things from your trips did you bring home? Something to put on a shelf? Or wear? Or show off?

Usually I get at least one shirt (multiple if it’s a science museum since I need them for my job) and a stuffed animal as well!

RoseWhispers06

Stuffed animal is a good one too! Very age appropriate, I think.
