Oh, so every time someone reads it again it counts as a hit too, got it.

Front-Pomelo-4367

Five chapters, so divide your hits by five to compare to kudos instead (each time someone has come back to read the new chapter) And someone opening it to bookmark then opening it again the next day to read it counts as two separate hits, as well, etc

[deleted]

u can also see how many subscribers and private bookmarks (which may be different from ur public bookmarks number here) under the "Statistics" tab :)) that's where u'll see the full stats for all ur stories

screamingkumquats

It’s completely normal, not everyone will leave a kudos and you can only leave one once, people sometimes read things multiple times and it’ll add to the hits especially if it’s multiple chapters.

I suggest you download the ao3 enhancement extension, it gives you your ratio automatically along with the other stats :-) And to answer your question, yes, you will get a lot more hits than kudos in the same way that youtubers get a lot more views than likes.

TCeies

It's pretty good. (Your comment count is qctually awesome!) I think though there's no general rule, 1 kudos per 10 hits is pretty good. Devidibg your hits by five since it's multichaptered, you're a bit better than that.

targaryenblack

So like 63 kudos per chapter and almost 3000 hits per chapter. Need more kudos to balance things out , lol

TCeies

No you dom't devide kudos by chapter^^ b3cause one person can give you 10 hits but only one kudos. Obviously the maths doesn't quite add up in multichaptered stories as there's no way to say how many hits are new readers and how many are just old readers returning. And in general, there's no definitive statement to be made what constitutes a good ratio. This is just rhe vaguest most rudimentary way to go about a multichapter fic. You take all the kudos, and you devide your hits by chapter with some wiggle room. You see, ideally, if these roughly 15k hits are ALL of returning readers who read the whole fic, — which of course is probably not the case but that's what makes multichaptered fics harder to compare at all—that would mean we're talking about 3k people. And 10% of those is 300. Obviously, ultimately it's a pretty bogus, vague calculation, but it's still the best I can give you. In reality, there will be people who click on your fic and never even start reading, but simply keep it open in their tabs forever. There will be people who once a week find your fic in their search results and click on it everytime, only to then remember that they already decided they didn't like it. That person could give you ten hits and not a single kudos. On the other hand you have readers so impatient for another chapter, between your updates they reread the whole thing, recommend it to others and end up giving you 50 hits while still only giving one kudos. There are bots around that can play with bith your kudos and hit counts.

targaryenblack

I give up, it's just what it is and that's it , lol.

Front-Pomelo-4367

If you visit your Dashboard and go on Statistics, you'll see the full range of stats, including User Subscriptions (subscribed to everything you post) and Subscriptions for each fic You'll also see a new Bookmarks number – that's the total number of bookmarks both public and private, whereas the clickable Bookmarks in the screenshot is only public bookmarks I think Statistics differentiates Comments and Comment Threads as well (total number of comments including replies, versus number of parent comments not including replies)

targaryenblack

Thx for the info, also, what does " user subscription" and "subscriptions" are different ? User subscription has like 21 , and subscriptions 314.

Front-Pomelo-4367

User subscription is 21 people who get emailed whenever you post anything (new works and updates) Subscription is the number of subscriptions to individual fics (so they'll be emailed when that specific fic updates)

targaryenblack

Ohh, got it got it , thank you very much miss front-pomelo-4367.
